I've always loved Friendly's since I was young child. I loved their shakes and chicken fingers. I've eaten chicken fingers from many establishments, but personally my favorite chicken fingers has always been the Chicken Fingers at Friendly's. They didn't disappoint on Sunday when I picked up my lunch curbside. The chicken always is fresh and seasoned well. I'm not fan of the strawberry shakes anymore they add some sort of syrup to the shake and it has an after taste that I do not care for. At one time they made the shakes from strawberry ice cream. You cannot shine sh** and that is exactly what this place is. We were on our way to Vermont when we opted to stop for a quick bite. I told my wife as we were parking that every Friendly's is the same...understaffed and they could care less. We got inside and waiting ahead of us were 2 women with a few kids. Finally they said they have been there 15 mins and they left. We waited another 5 and nobody came so we left also. I counted 2 people galavanting around and one person doing the ice cream. Took a couple of ladies from their group home here for a night out. It was a horrible experience from beginning to end. We were ignored at the front , and could audibly hear the staff arguing about who was going to take our table. Once seated, it took our server forever to come over. She acted like we were a bother to her from beginning to end. In fact, that's how everyone at this establishment made us feel. Do yourself a favor and don't come here. Bathrooms were disgusting, food was cold by the time it came out, one of the ice cream shakes was half full when brought out. It was unfortunate as the ladies don't get out much because of short staffing and COVID. I grew up loving Friendly's, but I know they've got a reputation of having gone downhill and over the years I've had good and bad experiences. From the reviews of this location I was expecting to be disappointed but it was actually quite good. Went around 5:30 on a Friday with my 7-year old who is easy to please. Our waitress (Andrea) was very friendly, took our order at the right time and offered my daughter crayons, and overall her timing on everything (checking in, bringing the bill, coming back with the cc after it was run) was spot on. Food came out in a very reasonable amount of time and was quite good. I'm old school so I got the fishamajig, which can be hit or miss, but this one was very good. Also had a craving for the "original" cheeseburger" which is just a patty, cheese, and mayo on grilled bread (like a grilled cheese sandwich). Wasn't on the menu but I asked about it and she said they make them, so I decided I would make peace with eating 4,000 calories and got that on the side as well, and it was excellent. Fries are decent, nothing special. Kids food is what you'd expect, it's fine for kids. Started seeing more waitstaff show up during our time there, they seemed like the'd have enough staff to handle the dinner rush. All seemed pleasant, I didn't pick up on any bad vibes at all. There was a family that came in just as we were leaving and one of the little kids was on a smartphone that was really loud. Parent didn't seem to get that it was too loud for a restaurant. Don't do that. Anyway, graded on a curve for all Friendly's this would have been a 5, and overall for a chain it still gets a solid 4 for good food and staff. I don't expect high-end restaurant cleanliness or atmosphere at a chain, just competence and decent food, and this one was better than most. read more

They close at 10, we came at nine and they locked the door behind us. Completely empty, not busy at all, and still an hour left. Two couples tried getting in and they denied them entry. I used the bathroom while my friend waited for me to get back to order and the service got impatient and even angry that they had to wait, mind you they are still open. Came back and they rushed me to order, "Rachel" was the server. I asked blonde much older woman wearing purple who seemed to be a manager there that i forgot to ask for no cheese on my burger and she goes well you might be too late. Then later on, after we ate and got ice cream, i watched the maybe manager older woman ask Rachel "did they leave yet?" clearly angry and agitated and Rachel said no as if it is not there job and didnt stop serving people an hour early. The maybe elderly blonde manager woman got angry so we didn't even finish and left so they would stop complaining. Very lazy and rude service. Probably our last time going here. read more

I must say that this was an absolute awesome experience that we had at friendly's today. My wife and I went to the restaurant to grab something quick to eat before we were in out for some last-minute Christmas shopping and also to grab some groceries for the rest of the week. Colleen was our waitress and she was absolutely phenomenal she knew exactly what we needed and she was very attentive and very friendly throughout the whole process and you couldn't ask for a better waitress. The food was actually very good as well and I was quite impressed with how flavorful the food actually was and it really was something that I didn't expect. Whenever I go into a restaurant and I see a corned beef burger I have to try it it's just my weakness. and I must say that I was quite impressed with the way that they made this burger and it was on point my wife sandwich was excellent as well as she stated and she enjoyed it the fries that came along with it were absolutely amazing they were cooked to perfection I don't think I've ever had fries that were actually made that well so I could not have asked for anything better. I had a cup of coffee and my wife had a cup of tea and Colleen made sure that I had a refill exactly when I needed it bringing me out another cup of coffee and she was right on point again and very friendly and just an amazing overall experience. Sunday 04/22/23 my husband and I stopped to have dinner at your establishment here in Clifton Park. We stood for eight minutes waiting to be seated. I asked the staff during our wait if we seat ourselves and was told that someone would be with us shortly and then ignored. My husband and I waited 8minutes and was not seated. We then left and came to IHOP and was seated and served immediately. Will we eat at your establishment? Maybe but more than likely not. If you do not want to lose more business maybe you should train you workers better and schedule your staff better so other customers don't go through what we did. read more

Friendly's. It has been some time since I visited this happy home of ice cream. With my young granddaughter visiting, where do you go that is kid friendly. Friendly's! Dinner for me was a Buffalo Chicken wrap. It's one of my go to items to test the waters. I've had better and I've had worse! Granddaughter had a kid toasted cheese, fries and her complimentary ice cream. SO had a burger. It is a friendly place. Server was a happy soul, dinner was average and dessert of course was what you would expect. It's not (in my humble opinion) a five star place, but it is a place the whole family can go and eat a meal and not break the bank doing it. all that with dessert included. read more

I have very mixed feelings about Friendly's restaurants. Ever since I was young, I remember going to their various restaurants scattered across Rochester because they had fun kid food, like grilled cheese and chicken fingers. Plus, they had those ice cream sundaes including my favorite... the "Cone Head Sundae" which gives you the crunch of a cone AND the convenience of eating ice cream out of a cup. Our school fundraisers frequently involved purchasing those sundae cups, and even today I like to buy the Reese's Pieces one for $1 at the supermarket. Finally, at least in Rochester, it was the only place teens could go that was open late like 9-11PM. (Now, there are Fridays, Ruby Tuesdays, Applebees, etc.) But, my tastes have matured over the years. Now, when I go into Friendly's I know I am going to get something fried but not crispy (their french fries are usually soggy), greasy but not flavorful (their burgers are especially weak), and leave having consumed lots of calories but not actually full. Their ice cream especially isn't good in my opinion- very fluffy, artificially sweet, and lacking any taste of cream. That alone would rank this place as two stars. But, they do have some redeeming qualities. They are cheap, they are kid friendly, their sundae combinations taste great, and their Reese's Sundae cup is a steal at $1 from the store. I have eaten at this Friendly's on occasion, as well as had their ice cream to go from their take-out window, and the above comments are applicable here. I can't say I would ever pick to come here, but I sure would feel sad in a world without Friendly's. read more

This Friendly's has gotten so bad. The staff is so rude, the food comes out horrible, the restaurant is often left with unbussed tables and dirty floors. It's such a shame because it use to be such a nice place to take the kids to have a meal but staff and Management has changed over the years causing it to become a total disappointment. My family went there last Friday night, they had only 3 waitresses on, only a quarter of the tables full, the others were empty or left dirty with dishes still. My family waited at the door over 20 minutes while staff walked by us multiple times and never even said hello or even acknowledge us. Other families arrived after us and the same treatment. Finally after the 20 minutes of being complete ignored another family spoke up & walked out. Which caused a chained reaction with everyone that was waiting. Instead of the staff trying to rectify the situation and apologize for the neglect they became even more rude and blamed started belittling the customers waiting and complaining underneath there breath about how short staffed they are. Just sad how down hill this place has become. read more

If you are looking for a place that is the complete opposite of its name, you found it. I disliked being told that I didn't qualify for the free sundae that comes with a senior meal because I didn't order the sundae at the same time as the meal. I mentioned at the time I ordered that I would be back for it. Who wants to watch it melting while they eat? The staffer said that would be fine. I was charged for two sundaes instead of one and then she lied to my face about it just to avoid the trouble of making the refund. To add insult to injury, the sundaes came to $6.51. I handed her $6.50 and she stood there with her hand out waiting for the penny. I had to either break a 20 for the penny or walk to my car to get one, which I did. We were prepared for a wait based on the other reviews from Yelpers, but to my pleasant surprise we had very fast service, right up until the place was inundated at the lunch hour. So we ended up waiting quite a long time for my son's ice cream, which I took to be entirely an issue with the kitchen, as our server dutifully updated us every time she went by. As for the food, it was Friendly's-standard, which is normally fine. However, I was under the distinct impression that a sandwich with the word "Melt" in its name, in my case a "Tuna Melt" was supposed to include melted cheese and be, well, hot. Mine was more like a "Tuna Freeze" - ice cold tuna under unmelted American cheese that had obviously not been grilled. On the other hand the two of us go out of there for less than $20 with a decent tip. And I firmly believe the Friendly's way with coffee is correct -- deliver a whole carafe to the customer and let THEM refill it -- and today it was actually pretty darn good joe (a Columbian, to be sure, but a nice deep brew of it.) So the better-than-expected service and the somewhat poor performance from the kitchen should probably technically average out to a three, but I give it a veeerrry low three and you're warned accordingly. There are worse places to stop at off the Northway. If that's damning with faint praise so be it. read more

We use to frequent the Colonie and Latham ones very often, now we only make the drive to the Clifton Park location every couple months. Today we found ourselves craving their ice cream so we made the 30 minute drive up to CP. We paid $27 for two "large" sundaes and a medium milkshake for our daughter. The containers that the sundaes came in are what you would expect for a large sundae at this price, but they were BARELY half full, and had more whip cream in them than anything else. The flavor of Friendlys ice cream has not changed a bit, but the value is absolutely not there any more. Sadly we will no longer be customers of this establishment unless they start serving their customers what they pay for, like they use to. read more

This review sucks to write. I used to go to this friendlys all the time when I was younger and it was always great. I was back in town and was really excited to go back here. We put in an order at our hotel and my husband went to pick it up when they told him it would be ready (6:17). The food wasn't ready until 6:47. He waited a half hour and when he asked one of the employees if the food was on its way out (after waiting 20 minutes past the time it was supposed to be ready) and was told it would be on the rack when it's ready, which is such an unprofessional answer. It's already late-give him an actual TIME it is estimated to be out. To add insult to injury, they got parts of the order WRONG, sloppily threw it in a bag, including putting our ice cream in a big crumpled bag without lids, and our food was COLD. Not luke warm, cold. If the order was actually being completed and that's what he was waiting for, shouldn't it have come out hot? The grilled cheese for my 2 year old was cold and the cheese was hard. My sandwich was completely cold and soggy. My guess: it sat in the back and when they realized, they didn't try to correct the mistake-just gave us cold food after waiting an extra half hour for it to be done for apparently no reason. Ordered buffalo tenders and a side of broccoli online. Arrived at the location and responded with my parking spot number. Waited for about a half hour and saw people going inside to get their order. So I went in and got a container with 10 tenders in it. No fries or broccoli. Was told that they were out of broccoli and could make something else. At this point I knew the tenders would get cold. This is really difficult to write because I literally have PTSD from this experience. We were leaving a birthday party and we spotted this old school gem. Thought the kids would love it. Walking in it was like the twilight zone meets Zootopia DMV scene. No one acknowledged anyone at the door. No hello. Wait time. Just a lot of weird vibes and long eye contact. So many people left. Which they boosted us to 2nd in line. We waited about 25 minutes. Which was fine. It's Saturday night. But no one said one thing to us till we heard, "how many???". We were seated and ready to order. We had come from sky zone so I figured I'd use the restroom. Guys ... Guys.... Poop everywhere. Like a poop volcano in the stall. Only two stalls. The 2nd stall seemed to be a scene of a pubic trim? I thought my biggest issue was going to be my choice of wearing a bodysuit. At this point I will risk a UTI. Head back to the table. Tell the kids they can't use the restroom. I also risk them not washing their hands before we eat bc the bathroom was so tragic. Food comes. Brings back good memories. Then a girl chokes and puked does not clean it up and she keeps eating. Oh and my water was legit tap water. Then we were done for like.... Ever. The waitress is missing. For 97% of the time. Every employee seemed to be high on drugs. Like a sedative of some sorts?
