The yogurt is very good. Obviously they have a large variety of flavors given the name "16" handles. They have a large variety of toppings. The toppings area was kept quite neat and tidy. I like the fact that they separate the toppings into categories, which makes it easier for the the people who want to stay away from the candy. I only heard about 16 handles last week...I drove by the Queensbury location and that was my first glimmer of awareness. Last night I went to the Clifton Park location and was VERY pleasantly surprised by how good the fro-yo was. They had 15 flavors (one was out for the night) to choose from and the young man working there was very helpful. Unlike Menchie's, if you'd like a sample, the pleasant young man behind the counter will give you a handful of mini-slurp-cups (that's what I call them). The flavors here really pop - I really liked the chocolate, coffee and cotton candy. I threw a little bit of mint chocolate chip in my cup as well. They have 2 sizes - small and medium...the small was just right. There are a nice amount of topping choices and that area is kept very clean. Yay! A make-your-own yogurt shop in a convenient location. The name is accurate; there are indeed 16 flavors of frozen yogurt available. Each flavor has a little display screen above it that shows the name and nutrition facts. Super convenient. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure what all the flavors are (I believe they are listed on the website, anyway). I always go straight for the original tart flavor. They have waffle cone bowls, which is something I've never seen at a frozen yogurt place before. They also have a large variety of toppings to choose from, from blackberries to mochi to peanut butter cups. In terms of price, right now they are slightly cheaper than Plum Dandy, but still expensive compared to some places in major metropolitan areas. Their price per ounce was $.52, and I believe it is $.55 at Plum Dandy. Plum Dandy isn't a franchise and is independently owned, so I can understand the higher price per ounce. I'm not sure why it's so pricey at 16 Handles. However, unfortunately for Plum Dandy, that is a game changer for me. Even though it's a small difference, this place is closer to where I live, so it wouldn't make sense for me to spend the money on the gas in addition to the extra $.03 per ounce. Also, good job with the customer service on opening day, guys! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. They even gave out elastic wrist bands that say "flaunt your flavor" with the company logo. When I visit my friend in Clifton Park, this is our favorite place to go. There are always a lot of fun and seasonal flavors, plus the toppings are fresh. This location is always packed to the brim with children (the only downside). We always end up leaving instead of sitting down to eat because of the noise and clutter of kiddos. First off, Fat Free doesn't mean sugar free, I guess people miss this part when they fill up a huge "small" they are ingesting enough sugar to fuel some serious activity (or fattening up). I've been twice since they opened. YUM! I love it! CP definitely needed something like this. I enjoy being able to create my own frozen dessert and pay for exactly what & how much I want! The only reason I knocked a star off is due to the lack of sample cups. I'm from southern CA and there are places like this on every corner. Tiny little sample cups were always available to sample the different flavors of yogurt. Both times I've been to Handles, this week, it seems when I asked for the sample cups...it was a big deal. They took forever to get them and made me feel as if I was imposing. Regardless, I'll continue to ask for them, if I want to sample a flavor. A couple of weeks ago, I learned about 16 Handles for the first time when a friend and I were looking for a place to have dessert near her. I was so very, very excited - and then completely bummed when things fell through and we couldn't do it. Fast forward one week. My husband and I were looking for dessert, and we discovered, to our delight, that there was also a 16 Handles in Clifton Park. Serendipity! We went straight there. My only real complaint is that I would like some smaller containers. My "small" ended up costing just as much as my husband's medium. If they'd had a smaller container, I would have used it. The format encourages people to overeat, anyway, because you have no idea how much you're getting until you're done. It also might be nice if people could weigh the cup and the yogurt before adding toppings. Yes, I realize that we're all responsible for our own choices, but I would get less if I could see it adding up - $6 for a small frozen yogurt is too much, and this is from someone who is used to the Boston cost of living (re: everything costs twice as much as it should). They are free with the tasting cups, though, which is good - I discovered that I didn't like the one I was planning to get as much as I thought I would. The tasting cup saved me from being rather sad with my final results. What I wound up with was completely delicious, and I'll be back. I'll just be extremely careful about how much I put in my cup. read more

Super Delicious! I went late in the evening on a weekend and the place was still busy which is always a good sign. The staff was very friendly and they explained about what to do since it was my first time there. They offered us sample cups to try out some flavors before choosing one. I ended up doing a mixture of chocolate and peanut butter yogurt topped with graham crackers and peanut butter cups. My girlfriend chose to mix peanut butter with cookies and cream yogurt with no toppings. It ended up being like 4 bucks each. Hope they stay a long time. I will be back! read more

Do it yourself frozen yogurt seems to be the new trend with TCBY and Yeh! sprouting up throughout the region, but 16 Handles was my first exposure. It's all on you to grab a bowl, and pick your flavors and toppings. It can be expensive if you load up your bowl, but I think it's reasonable for an occasional treat. The best combo I've made so far is cheesecake + blueberry yogurt, topped with graham cracker crumbs, cheesecake bites, and blueberries. NOM. They also have a "buy X get 1 free" (don't remember how many) card, so definitely pick that up! read more

I really like the concept of this place. You help yourself to whatever yogurt or yogurts you want and the topping are all over the place. They have about 8 yogurt machines going and 12-16 different flavors of yogurt. If you are in the mood for a fruit topping they have that...I even saw captain crunch cereal! Needless to say they have a wide variety of topping you can choose from. I really do like this place but I find it a bit too expensive. 52 cents a ounce....Really? Then came Menchies, wow...huge difference! To me 16 Handles flavors don't have much flavor and really taste all the same to me. A lovely surprise to discover a kosher-certified frozen yogurt spot in upstate NY. I was surprised when a frum (orthodox) woman walked in and proceeded to get her yummy yogurt. Then I turned around and saw the prominently displayed kosher certification. It made my already delicious snack an even more satisfying experience. They have a bunch of flavors that you can combine (I mixed peanut butter, chocolate, and banana yogurts). The place is spotlessly clean, there is lots of seating indoors, and just up the sidewalk, outdoor seating at nearby establishments. I've been there twice since the business opened. I wanted to give it a second chance before I completely write it off. The yogurt is expensive for the quality. It reminds me of cheap ice cream that my kids got at Golden Corral when we were on vacation...very watery. Not a lot of flavor either. Yes, there are many topping that are fresh and attractive, but that does not outweigh the price for the product. 2 adults and 2 kids (husband and I had very little yogurt and a little fruit). It cost us $17.50! The kids said to me today "Let's go to Guptil's next time." No problem....much better taste and I'll save about $10.00. DH didn't like it either. My daughter and I love going here. They have a great yogurt selection and the amount of toppings are crazy! It's super clean but there's limited seating. Price wise I felt like it was totally on point, our sundaes are always between $4 and $5. IT is not too expensive! I guess if you fill your cup to the top with yogurt and then add on every topping available you might pay a lot. I go with my son all the time and never pay more then $5.00 each. My favorite it to get a little ff cheesecake yogut, vanilla yogurt and then strawberry. My toppings are fruity pebbles, captain cruch, stawberries, rasberries, wet walnuts and cocunut. I know it sounds absolutely disgusting but you have to try it.
