The yogurt there is good, and 16 Handles offers a variety of selections. However... the levers are way too heavy for me to pull, I tried very hard but nothing came out... It's miserable that I always need someone else's help when I go there :(

    Cute decor.

Yay! A make-your-own yogurt shop in a convenient location. The name is accurate; there are indeed 16 flavors of frozen yogurt available. Each flavor has a little display screen above it that shows the name and nutrition facts. Super convenient. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure what all the flavors are (I believe they are listed on the website, anyway). I always go straight for the original tart flavor. They have waffle cone bowls, which is something I've never seen at a frozen yogurt place before. They also have a large variety of toppings to choose from, from blackberries to mochi to peanut butter cups. In terms of price, right now they are slightly cheaper than Plum Dandy, but still expensive compared to some places in major metropolitan areas. Their price per ounce was $.52, and I believe it is $.55 at Plum Dandy. Plum Dandy isn't a franchise and is independently owned, so I can understand the higher price per ounce. I'm not sure why it's so pricey at 16 Handles. However, unfortunately for Plum Dandy, that is a game changer for me. Even though it's a small difference, this place is closer to where I live, so it wouldn't make sense for me to spend the money on the gas in addition to the extra $.03 per ounce. Also, good job with the customer service on opening day, guys! Everyone was super friendly and helpful. They even gave out elastic wrist bands that say "flaunt your flavor" with the company logo. Overall, I was very pleased and look forward to being a regular at this place!

Too expensive; 52 cents/ounce. Great flavors and fresh. I prefer Stewert's ice cream.

Memorial Day arrival, warm weather, and a bare refrigerator was the sign it was time for the annual…read moretrip to Country Drive-In for a traditional sausage sandwich. An earlier email reminder from the Mealeo CEO that I had over $3 in Mealeo credits reminded me that this would be a good opportunity to place my order at Country Drive-In through Mealeo to take advantage of my rewards. I was initially surprised that upon placing our order at 6:30 pm that it was not going to be ready until 7:15. But when I arrived at CD-I at 7:10 I could better understand. They were slammed with customers. I let the pickup window know that I was there for my order, and they said they would check on it. At exactly 7:15 they brought my order to the window. Ahh, reliable efficiency! My wife had decided to order a Tuna Melt ($8.39), I went traditional with the Sausage sandwich ($9.59), and a large order of Homemade Onion Rings ($7.19) for us to share. The Tuna Melt had little if any tuna flavor, very disappointing. The Sausage was one of the best I've had from them (there have been some off years recently). It was just greasy enough with the peppers and onions on top of the sausage patty that the fresh and soft brioche bun (not the hard roll indicated on the menu) prevented any loss of drippings for a flavorful bite each time. The onion rings were perfect this time also. Not overly greasy even as they cooled down. All of this is why we keep returning every season.

The ice cream is a 10/10! Soft serve is a real treat! Had me sold at the freshly homemade waffle…read morecone. Definitely going back soon.

With so few of them left in the area, I figured this was a good time to go to one. If you have mobility issues, it may be tough getting inside. There's 4 handicap parking spots in the front of the restaurant, and when they are full (which they were when we arrived), it is a lot tougher for folks who need assistance to get in. The sloping part of the sidewalk is the part farthest away from the entrance. There's also not a lot of space inside near the hostess table to wait if it actually ever fills up here. Once we were seated, it was a lot better. Our waitress did a great time getting to all the tables on which she was waiting, without missing a beat. There was a second lady there as well, but I could not tell if she was a waitress, a hostess, or maybe the manager. She was definitely helping, but it didn't seem like she had any specific tables. I have no idea how many times their menu has changed in the many years since we've dined at a Friendly's. This menu was pretty streamlined, with many familiar entrees. But gone are the senior options and the free dessert ice cream options. Then, again, seeing that ice cream cones started at $4, maybe ice cream isn't something they're comfortable giving out at reduced prices any more. Our meals were actually quite good. Mom said she really enjoyed her bacon cheeseburger. My crispy chicken sandwich had a filet which was maybe a bit thinner than expected, but it was definitely crispy, accompanied by pickles, and fresh lettuce and tomato. We were able to substitute cole slaw for fries with no issues. Even though everything on the menu is designed to be prepared fairly quickly, it's definitely not someplace to come if you're in a rush.

There certainly are fewer locations today. Today (Wed.), I had lunch with a daughter and grandchildren ages from 3 to 17. We arrived at 11:00 when it opened, and by 11:15 there were many diners of all ages. One attraction is a menu that appeals to all ages. They have a nice kids menu for food and ice cream plus a menu for seniors. Ambiance: Informal, good for kids We were seated at a large table for eight. The restaurant was much larger than the locations I remember years ago. There were many booths and two large tables in a spacious room divided informally into three sections. It actually looked nostalgic, not dated. There is easy access for handicapped and a large parking lot in front. Service: good overall Food: I noticed some classic offerings and some new ones-- Old time: Tuna Melt (with tomato slice and American cheese is a fan favorite. It was taken off the menu but put back on due to customer demand. New: The Mini Mozzarella Cheese Sticks "startup" is a new item. We ordered a serving today, and they were a hit. Ordered: Tuna Salad Melt (good as I remember) American Burger Burger with mushrooms and onions Crispy Chicken Wrap Chicken Noodle Soup & garden salad (you pick 2) Two children had Chicken Fingers and Fries off the Kids Menu. No complaints about food from kids. It was what I expected. One grandson commented that the Ice Cream Menu is as large as the Food Menu. True! Friendly's is associated with ice cream and fun. Ordered: Oreo Crumb Sundae Coffee Ice Cream Chocolate Milk Shake Small dishes of Bubble Gum Ice Cream 14 yr old said, "the ice cream is good, not as good as homemade but good." I was surprised the younger ones did not order a Cone Head Sundae, a favorite of my children when they were little. Pleased to see that take home containers were eco friendly. Friendly's was established in 1935 in Springfield, MA. A few years ago, the Blake Brothers sold the northeastern chain to Hershey's Corporation.
