Guptill's is an Albany staple and I am woefully late to the party. Hubs took me to Guptill's to celebrate National Wife Appreciation Day. I was admittedly overwhelmed by the several flavors to choose from and skeptical that a place with that many flavors could deliver on quality. My fears were quickly quelled with some birthday cake ice cream in a large cone. Hubs went with black cherry. We loved our ice creams - well worth the 14 dollars total. Unfortunately I didn't make it back before they closed for the season but I will be back to explore the menu (or maybe just to get some birthday cake ice cream again) in the spring.

Great soft serve! Super friendly service, too. Lines moved quickly since many windows were open. My dole whip/vanilla cone mix covered in chocolate crunch shell got some attention from the folks behind me. Delish! I'll be back next time I'm in the area.

    Cheers !

It's a good thing I don't live closer to Guptill's because I would be here all the time! They have a long list of homemade ice cream flavors and I believe the list changes slightly year to year. I have tried a few flavors, and have been impressed by them all. I usually get a pint to bring home and it was around $7 a pint as of summer 2024. Not cheap but it's good quality freshly made ice cream and worth the price. There is a huge parking lot and good number of benches. Staff is friendly and efficient. They are cash only but do have an atm.

In town visiting family from the Seattle area. Believe it or not but there is no soft serve ice cream ANYWHERE in the Pacific Northwest!! So when I come home in the summer time soft serve is a must have. Guptill's did not disappoint, absolutely smooth and creamy deliciousness.

Anything less than a 5 star review is a fib. From traditional "hard" ice cream to soft serve that resembles gelato... there is a reason this place claims "Worlds Best Ice Cream". I don't believe they are far from the truth. Servings are massive and if you are an ice cream aficionado, expect a lactose coma!!!

Really enjoyed the quick trip to Guptill's this weekend. When in a new town the first thing I do is local for a local ice cream spot, and luckily Guptill's was still open and wasn't closed for the season. The amount of flavors that were offered of both soft serve and hard ice creams seemed endless, so while although I really enjoyed the Chocolate Cake Twist soft serve, I really want to go back and try out their different options. I really liked how you could drive up, place your order at one of the several counters, and be served almost immediately. There was no wait time, the menus were displayed prominently, and the service was friendly. Definitely recommend!

Crazy large ice cream portion so you should be all set with a kiddie size - the regular looks like a large from anywhere else.

One last trip for this season to ice cream land!! My friend drove out from Boston Massachusetts to Western Massachusetts to join me for a day trip over to this land of delicious flavors and goodies! We brought a cooler for all the pints and quarts we brought home after perusing their vast menu of fun flavors on our journey there!! While they were hand packing our orders of pints and quarts of delicious hand scooped and packed ice cream... we enjoyed to very generous sized regular sundaes: Coffee Peanut butter Mocha Fudge sundae with hot fudge and peanut butter sauce and brownie sundae with lots of whipped cream equal happy campers!!!

Guptill's Ice Cream is one of the most popular ice cream spots in the entire Capital Region, but I have to say it's a bit overrated. With that being said, Guptill's has tons of flavors and different options, but it is overpriced and nothing special. To amplify, I ordered a medium soft serve vanilla ice cream cone and it cost $5. Now, the biggest problem was that I could barely eat it. The ice cream was huge and they put way too much ice cream on the cone. It was pouring over the cone and it was an absolute mess. Also, they didn't give me a dish to put the cone in so most of the ice cream fell on me and the ground. Be that as it may, the taste of the ice cream was pretty good. The ice cream was creamy, rich, and didn't have too much of an artificial taste. In addition, the cone was crunchy, but definitely pre packaged. In the long run, Guptill's has enjoyable ice cream, but it's expensive and nothing spectacular.

If I have an ice cream craving, I have a lot of options around me but my go to would be Guptills. They have a lot options for flavors. I believe they carry close to 70 flavors. This place could get busy but they do have a lot of kiosks open that makes the service a little faster. My go to just switched from the banana split to their award winning brownie fudge sundae. They have a large parking lot and most of them would be hanging out there eating their ice cream. Only thing they are missing would be a large screen with a movie streaming to make it a drive in ice cream theater. A family owned business for over 50 years and a regular finalist in the Times Union's Best of the Capital Region contest. Do I need to continue further? Yes I do....as the first time I was there, I had no cash on me and had to go back home. All I carried is a credit card and a license.....and now...just my phone. It's time for the current generation of the family business owners to step into the 21st century and start accepting credit cards.

Guptill's Ice Cream is a great spot to have soft-serve ice cream. I always have the small sugar cone vanilla soft serve, which might sound boring considering all the options they have, but it's perfect. Even when you order a small cone, the amount, in my opinion, is more than enough. I what to go back to try their cider donut sundae. They have social distance labels, so you wait at a correct distance; once you get to the counter, someone will take and prepare your order, a different person charges you. Even when you order a cone, they will hand you a cup with your order, so there is no direct contact while giving you your order. They have ample space for parking and have a lot of service windows.

I'm a big softie. I came here to chill out for some birthday ice cream last week after wingin' it at the Rusty Nail for the birthday wing promo. Surprisingly, it was my first visit to Guptill's for ice cream this summer, but don't worry, I got my soft serve on at plenty of other joints. The birthday boy opted for a coupla scoops of hard ice cream (scoop, there it is), but since soft serve season is quickly winding down for us here in Upstate NY, I just had to go for a waffle cone of swirl. FWIW, the best soft serve ice cream combo I've ever had has been a banana/chocolate twist; I might say I scream for it ;) I've only found that perfect flavor pair at CDI in Clifton Park, and my beloved Jumpin' Jacks. If I could dunk that bad boy in a peanut butter dip, I might die and go to heaven. I mention this fantasy flavor, because it's now a combo I look to create every. time. I'm out for ice cream. Following my craving, I chose a FlavorBurst soft serve banana, paired it with a chocolate dip in a waffle cone, and whew! I nailed it. I think the banana might have been a tad too sweet for me, but the chocolate dip brought that cone back to reality so fast, it was a perfect blend of nanas and choco. Very a-peel-ing ;) The waffle cones here are on point, and they have so many order windows, even if the crowd loitering around said order windows seems overwhelming, the Guptill's crew knows how to keep things moving. So unless you think getting ice cream on your birthday in lieu of cake is bananas, be a softie and head over to Guptill's, even if it's not your birthday.

An earlier email reminder from the Mealeo CEO that I had over $3 in Mealeo credits reminded me that this would be a good opportunity to place my order at Country Drive-In through Mealeo to take advantage of my rewards. I was initially surprised that upon placing our order at 6:30 pm that it was not going to be ready until 7:15. But when I arrived at CD-I at 7:10 I could better understand. They were slammed with customers. I let the pickup window know that I was there for my order, and they said they would check on it. At exactly 7:15 they brought my order to the window. Ahh, reliable efficiency! My wife had decided to order a Tuna Melt ($8.39), I went traditional with the Sausage sandwich ($9.59), and a large order of Homemade Onion Rings ($7.19) for us to share. The Tuna Melt had little if any tuna flavor, very disappointing. The Sausage was one of the best I've had from them (there have been some off years recently). It was just greasy enough with the peppers and onions on top of the sausage patty that the fresh and soft brioche bun (not the hard roll indicated on the menu) prevented any loss of drippings for a flavorful bite each time. The onion rings were perfect this time also. Not overly greasy even as they cooled down. All of this is why we keep returning every season.

The ice cream is a 10/10! Soft serve is a real treat! Had me sold at the freshly homemade waffle…read morecone. Definitely going back soon.
