Vanilla soft serve with chocolate shell
    Karen Y.

Nothing fancy. The only spot for yummy soft serve ice cream! There's always a line! It doesn't look like much, like an ice cream parlor shack... but the staff are friendly and gets you your ice cream. They have quite a few variety of flavors. We came after dinner and wanted soft serve in summer heat - August. It definitely hits the spot and it melts fast, so you better eat quickly! The small is huge - enjoy.

Summer is not complete without a trip to Kurver Kreme! I've been going for years and have only tried a portion of their many options. I'll never run out of new things to try. They have classic soft serve, a ton of sundae and milk shake options. There is often a line but it moves fast. There are a bunch of benches for outdoor seating and a large parking area. They accept credit card and the staff is efficient and friendly. definitely worth a visit but keep in mind they do close down for the chilly season.

Just cream heaven encased in hard crispy chocolate shell. Life is complete!

I just seriously have to kick myself multiple times, for finally having tried this the first time since moving to Albany 6 years ago. I mean, I drive by it nearly every day, or at least 4 times a week, and always just ignore it. I heard how it was the creamiest, the best old fashion taste, taste that is out of this world, and can't find it anywhere else, but still avoided it. I think part of the reason is the the long lines I would always see whenever I had a desire to go and try it out. After a while, I just ignored it, until I saw some of the reviews and posts. I checked them out online and on Yelp and had to try it. It reminded me of the the tasty freeze we had in Detroit growing up. The tasty freeze was great, but I never remember it being anything other than just ice cream. It was probably months, before I finally was driving home from shopping on a Friday evening of all things, and noticed maybe four or five people in line. It was a cool summer evening, around 75F, much cooler than recent days, so I thought, why not. I checked my phone and it was 8:30pm. Closing time was 9:00pm. So, when the light turned green, I proceeded straight into the parking lot instead of home. As I walked up to the stand the merriment from all the customers sitting around picnic tables and benches filled the air. Young teens in their baseball uniforms ran ahead to get in line. I felt like I had gone back in time to those Tasty Freeze days. I watched on older gentleman enjoying a large sundae, while his partner enjoyed a cone swirl. I saw others with the famous banana split and the young baseball teens ordering dipped swirls. After viewing all the Yelp photos, I knew what I wanted, especially since the line was now starting to fill behind me, and many anxious Kurver Kreme aficionados were anxiously waiting to place their order. I asked for all the swirl flavors, and the young man proceeded politely to tell me all of them. I heard a lot of berry flavors and non-fat, and in order to expedite my process, I simply ordered the vanilla, real deal, all the fat, none of that non-fat stuff, and dip it in that crunchy chocolate dip. I've been craving that ever since seeing the multiple photos on Yelp, and it reminded me of the swirl chocolate dips we always got at the Tasty Freeze years ago. He asked what size, and I said, "The biggest of course!", and with a pleasant smile he turned and created the gigantic, mountainous swirl of ice cream on that little tiny cone, and dipped it in that fantastic chocolate crispy sauce! Then what he said next surprised me and froze me for a moment. He said $4.30 please. "Are you kidding me," I thought as I dropped a $5 bill down. I stared at him and he stared at me, only for me to realize he was holding my ice cream and waiting for me to grab it so he could take the five and give me my change. I laughed, grabbed the ice cream, told him to keep the change and threw another dollar in the tip jar. He and Kurver deserved it. Now the best part. I find my little bench off to the side staring at the gas station and people still pulling in minutes before closing to get a taste of joy. I first must take my picture for Yelp, but in doing so, the tower is so high and the frozen chocolate starts to crack and tilt. In desperation I take the quickest photo and proceed to tackle the top of the crispy chocolate vanilla cream tower. Using the term heaven is not fair. Not even close. I've been all around the world, and have tasted from famous Gelato shops in Rome, Mochi ice cream stands in Tokyo, the unusual taste of Dondurma in Turkey, the sweet Halva of Israel, the unusual South Korean J-Cone, Thailand's peculiar I Tim Pad, and can't forget the Paletas in Mexico. I love ice cream in all its forms and have tried it all over the world. But this one was something to remember. I tried to bite into it and get a taste of ice or bubbles that you get with others, to ensure myself this was just another ice cream outing, but nothing was to be found. It was shear and utter creamy smoothness, lick after lick, bite after bite, suck after suck... Uhm, sorry didn't mean to get too graphic here. The worst part was not eating fast enough where the frozen crispy chocolate shell was breaking in pieces and falling off. This was ice cream utopia beyond all my worldly travels, and it was right in my backyard. Shame on you Frank for waiting so long. I only wish I had the chance to meet the man that made this place the icon it is in Upstate New York, and thank him. For it is truly a summer sweet treat paradise. I hope they have the crispy dip in cherry or berry, as that is what I am craving next!

I LOVE vanilla! STRONG vanilla. Even after 35 years- yessss- not exaggerating- the vanilla here is still consistent- very creamy and VERY vanilla-y, just like I remember. The very best way to enjoy this is in a root beer float. The root beer must be fortified because it never seems watered down when the ice cream starts to melt It encourages the layer of mixing ice cream and soda to form those exquisite crystals that root beer float connoisseurs like myself search for: the substance that has the form of "root beer float," but the essence of root beer float sherbet. For me, there's no point in even ordering a root beer float anywhere else. N. B. They now have something called "dip in a dish." You guessed it: your ice cream, in a dish, gets dip on it. Melts it your dish, not on your hand. I may need to try that soon. Hey Yelp Elites: how about a Soft Serve Crawl sometime??

Anyone who gives this less than 5 stars has poor taste, just being honest. I can't believe that I have never even reviewed this, as Kurver is literally something I live and die for. I cry when it closes for the season, and religiously stalk the opening date- it's that good. First, let me start by asking.. Who else can boast such delicious homemade cones? They also come in bowl shape, which only helps their cause. Secondly, the ice cream is so whipped it's almost not even cold it's like eating a big pile of whipped cream. Not too dense either. Now onto the flavors... I'm literally obsessed with pistachio so much that when the week is over I order to go pints to put in my freezer. While there are many delicious flavors once you find your favorite you will be hooked too. The portions are perfect and the toppings are equally delectable, especially the hot fudge. Lastly, the staff is super friendly and they work their butts off during the months they're open. The lines move fast so you aren't waiting days either. I like many other ice cream places so I'm not saying this is impossible, however nothing compares to Kurver and it's overall deliciousness. Bonus- they have dog ice creams that my dog is obsessed with.. puppies don't lie.

I like soft serve once every few years. This hit the mark. Not to mention we have been stalking this place since we moved here a year ago! Finally made it post pandemic and a decent weather day. Really good cherry dip. Great, soft texture but I find all soft serve tastes the same, no matter the flavor. Tons of Sundae varieties and sizes for your whole group. Would I come again... yup. Enjoy the treat y'all.

Good old Kurver Kreme, I had to visit while I was home in the 518. I grew up about 10 miles from here, so I would often frequent other ice cream establishments, but I would usually come here a few times a season. I currently live in South Florida where we sadly seem to lack these types of mom and pop ice cream shops. This place usually has long lines in the summer, but I do remember them moving. Today I opted for a small twist ice cream cone. Most of the time I will order a kiddie cone when getting ice cream since I have some dairy intolerance issues, but I thought the small was quite tiny for $3. I had been at Martha's in Lake George just last week and the kiddie size was probably comparable to a large at Kurver and I almost threw part of it away. I noticed you could order an ice cream sandwich with cookies from Schuyler Bakery, that looked appealing, but I didn't partake in it. I like that Schuyler has a peanut free bakery since I do have allergies myself. I still found the ice cream here to be creamy enough, that's what I remember from past visits. Knocked a star off since I think the portion sizes were small.

Consistently the best soft serve ice cream around! Friendly service...only drawback is the occasional long lines, but it's worth the wait!

A small cone or dish is 3 scoops, currently at $5.25, tax included. It's cash only, but there's an ATM several feet to the right of the ordering counter. I got 2 scoops of peanut butter ice cream topped with a scoop of vanilla. The vanilla had some very small ice crystals in it but was otherwise fine. I really love their peanut butter ice cream. It's creamy with the peanut butter flavor but not overwhelming. The cone does seem to be a little small for all that ice cream, so don't dilly-dally too much eating it in warm weather. Since some other parlors near me have closed, Scoups has become by default the closest ice cream spot to me that makes their own hard ice cream. This is not a bad thing. It's also not bad that it's not too far away from Wolf Road, and it becomes a convenient spot for dessert after dinner nearby.

There are picnic tables available on the property in front of a wooden fence where you can often see a few cows grazing nearby. Talk about farm to market! Not only is the homemade ice cream top quality, it is delicious. In addition, they serve soft vanilla and soft chocolate, dole whip, homemade Italian Ice, and Frogurt. The numerous flavors of ice cream are rich and bold. They are described well on the menu. Portions are generous so you may want to size down. I like a "small" cone of the Toffee Heath Bar Crunch. Staff is friendly and efficient no matter how long the line is at the window.

Fortunately, it was not since it does not have as large a parking area. We were on a mission, in search of Rum Raisin flavor. Frank's carries a decently large selection of Perry's ice cream flavors and a few flavors from Gillette Handmade. FYI, Gillette Creamer is actually Gillette Division of GlacierPoint Enterprises, a family owned and operated food distribution company covering most of eastern New York. It distributes many different brands of ice cream, in addition to Perry's and their house brand, and related dairy products. With only two service windows in the front of their building housing an Italian restaurant in back, service was friendly and thankfully not overly busy. With about a half-dozen people ahead of us, we spent out 10 minutes in line studying the flavors and trying to find the small sign displaying the serving sizes and prices. Our small dishes of ice cream were $5.40 each including tax. Serving portion was average, if not slightly below average. I had the Perry's Rum Raisin, and my wife had the Gillette Handmade Cappuccino Explosion. Neither of us was overly excited upon tasting our choices. The raisins in my ice cream were where all the flavor was. If you didn't get a spoonful with a raisin the ice cream itself had less flavor than an average vanilla. The Cappuccino Explosion had no noticeable coffee flavor, and the "explosion" must have been the pieces of chocolate bars mixed in.
