My wife and I came here on date night after eating pizza next door. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the overwhelming smell of sweetness. Sort of like a Yankee Candle store, your senses are overloaded with fragrances of sugar and (artificial?) flavorings. The candy counters are in the front and the ice cream is in the back. Probably logical from a sales standpoint, but the long, thin store is arranged so that it almost seems the ice cream is secondary. Regardless, they had about 8-10 flavors of ice cream. They also had a display case full of things that could be mixed in like candy and cookies. My wife got the black cherry frozen yogurt. She chose to not have anything mixed in, and didn't want one of the special cones (which seems to me to be missing the whole point of this place, but oh well). I just had a piece of chocolate candy to go as I was full. The frozen yogurt was excellent. I loved the way it tasted, but I also love frozen yogurt probably more than ice cream. It is a shame I was too full to really get the full experience so hopefully I can come back sometime when I am hungrier and really do it up right. I haven't been to a Cold Stone in about a decade and just had a craving for some cookie dough something today. The staff was very friendly and helpful to me figuring out which order was mine. The place looked clean, other than the staff it was empty at the time I arrived. It was a pick up order. I ordered a quart of Cookie Doughn't You Want Some. I just the whole thing. Yes, I did. No, there is no shame. However my main disappointment was that there were exactly 4 pieces if cookie dough in the whole thing. End of the world no, but to me it was the whole point of that menu item and I had to actively look for the 4 pieces in a quart. Also, I live quite close (5min) and it was pretty soupy when I get home to eat it. Not sure if it had been in a freezer or just out on a counter waiting for me. The taste of the ice cream and other flavors were pretty good aside from the mostly missing ingredient. read more

I don't know if it's because they hire people who are incompetent or because the people there don't have an incentive to work correctly, but every time I go here I am let down. The first time I went to this location, they ran out of reese's pieces, the second time I went, they put in the wrong toppings when I asked, and the third time I went in, they were cash only but didn't tell us until after ordering and making my order. The person working then made a rude and sarcastic comment "didn't you hear us saying it's cash only?" as though I must've been listening to their own self-bickering. Unsanitary! No Universal Precautions practiced. If you look at the ceiling vents and walls in the areas where the food is, you will see mounds of dust. If the workers are actually using gloves, you will observe them using the same pair to work with the ice cream, cash out a customer on the touch screen POS system and handle money. Gloves are not changed between transactions or between customers. the ice cream scoopers are placed in water that has been used by multiple other workers and they are not cleaned or sanitized. Additionally, no social distancing. Workers are not wearing masks. In this age of Covid and the spread of the virus so easily. You would think they would do better read more

Cold Stone is one of my favorite Ice Cream places in this area. They have many varieties of different Ice Cream, Milkshakes and even signature creations. Today I tried a signature creation called All Lovin' No Oven. It has Cake Batter Ice Cream, Fudge, cookie dough and whipped cream. I would definitely recommend to try this ice cream. It's one of the best ones I've tried there. I would also recommend the milkshakes there. My personal favorite is the Cookies and Cream. If you're looking to try a new Ice Cream place, Cold Stone should be a good shot. read more

My wife's favorite are their vanilla ice cream sandwiches with sprinkles. I like their Oreo sandwiches with real Oreo cream flavored ice cream but they don't have it lately. Recently, I was informed that we would no longer be provided with gluten-free birthday cakes. We've been getting them for my daughter since they opened. When we visited here, all the employees were engaged in prolonged, personal chit-chat while blatantly ignoring customers. I had to finally interrupt them to ask if it was my turn to be helped yet.  The young man who begrudgingly served me was as nasty as could be. We ordered some of their chocolates to go.  We wanted to get out of there as soon as possible because, not only were customers being treated like crap, but the store itself reeked with a strong, foul-smelling odor.  The stench was so pervasive that it actually infused the chocolates in the display case.  We were forced to throw out the ones we bought, which, at $22 a pound, was totally unacceptable.  Instead of contacting the Health Department, however, I opted to simply fill out an online complaint form to Coldstone's main office later that night to alert them of these conditions. The worst of it, however, was when the owner contacted me the next day in response to my comments.  Rather than appreciating a customer's helpful feedback, he immediately launched into defense of his rude employees;  dismissed that overwhelming stink in the store as it being my imagination, and oddly accused me of "blackmailing" him - though all I suggested he do was to look into the situation before it starts affecting his business!  This paranoid individual became so abusive to me that I was forced to end the discussion by hanging up on him in mid-rant. I found lots of online reviews where others claimed they, too, were treated poorly by the nasty workers at this location.  Now, after speaking with their equally nasty boss - who ignorantly condones their bad behavior - I can certainly understand why.  In his bogus retort, below, "Brian" claims the "owner, crew, and management team" were all interviewed and investigated  "within 2 hours of receiving complaint". That's funny, because I sent my complaint form in after midnight that night. Did he wake them out of their beds at 2am?  He should be correcting the conditions at his store rather than making up stories to discredit a respected reviewer. read more

Also they don't serve soft ice cream which is absurd for an Creamery. Also the wait time here is absurd. It took over 20 minutes to get a cup of ice cream. I don't know what the employees were doing. I'm usually not an ice cream fan, but when the craving hits, I want sugar baby!! This is the place to go. I've done a lot of the mixing, and I usually just get a like it cause otherwise I'll get in a sugar coma after a few bites. It's really heavy but absolutely delicious ice cream. Their new sundaes are SO amazing, they put a nice light vanilla on it, and I had the brownie one that was so delicious. The service though was absolutely amazing. The girl who worked there clearly LOVED her job (or was great at faking it) she was friendly, fast, and asked us if we liked it afterwords. I love happy customer service! Honestly, I can get ice cream anywhere, I can make my own brownie sundae really...but if I can get service like that I'd absolutely end up going back. read more

Then I order some ice cream and I get it and it's like soup. I didn't want soup. I wanted ice cream. Then they packed my to go pint and they took me at checkout before the people in front of me. Made no sense. They also didn't give me a top and I'm holding this toddler of mine and he's diving in like no big deal. Anyways I'll never crave this place again. I first had Cold Stone Creamery ice cream in Colorado. I thought it was a local thing, but then one appeared in a plaza in Albany. If Cold Stones aren't sprung up all over the nation by now, they should be soon. The appeal of making your own custom designed ice cream is great. As soon as you walk in, you will be bemused by a giant menu with names that make no sense. Are they sizes? Types of ice cream? Cakes? I couldn't read any of it. Don't bother. Just look at the counter displays of ice creams and "mix-ins." Mix-ins are the chocolate chips, coconut, graham crackers, candy bars, peppermint patties and other goodies you get to put in your creation. The mixing is done on a board, I assume this is the cold stone, and the soft ice cream looks like dough as they fold the goodies into it. My last result, chocolate ice cream with white chocolate chips and peppermint patties, was good. The problem is that the ice cream, since it's some variation on soft serve that's scoopable, it doesn't stand well on its own. You need those goodies. Cold Stone knows this and charges you up the wazoo for a simple cup with two mix-ins. But like I said, since the menu is impossible to decipher, you won't know the damage until you get to the register. Cold Stone *would* have four stars if they still had cake batter ice cream. I had the cake batter flavor in Colorado, and it was delicious. Some of the best ice cream, and definitely the best soft serve I've had. It's recently been taken back into the lab, I guess, for a change in the recipe. I don't know why Cold Stone would mess with perfection. There must've been an outcry from fans, because Cold Stone's website will let you sign up for updates so that you can know when cake batter makes its return. read more

Usually, I'm not a big ice cream fan. Cold Stone is one of the only places that gives me an occasional *craving* for the stuff, though! Terrifically varied flavors, the ability to make things as healthy or as fattening as you want, plenty of choices and combinations, (including smoothies!) and things like fresh fruit (that's ALWAYS perfect, btw,) and the nicest service I've ever had at an ice cream parlor. The prices are pretty decent, too; you won't get gypped on portion sizes, and it's just a sunny, nice place to go and satisfy a sweet tooth! Love it! read more
