I got 2 scoops of peanut butter ice cream topped with a scoop of vanilla. The vanilla had some very small ice crystals in it but was otherwise fine. I really love their peanut butter ice cream. It's creamy with the peanut butter flavor but not overwhelming. The cone does seem to be a little small for all that ice cream, so don't dilly-dally too much eating it in warm weather. Since some other parlors near me have closed, Scoups has become by default the closest ice cream spot to me that makes their own hard ice cream. This is not a bad thing. It's also not bad that it's not too far away from Wolf Road, and it becomes a convenient spot for dessert after dinner nearby.

What a busy Thursday, the streets were filled, patios full all around, and a beautiful clear night for some ice cream. It had been a while since I had been to Dutch Udder, and they have expanded but still offer the same great homemade ice cream. I went for a tropical pick - some beach. It was a fun flavor! I wish I got more ice cream to go. It is a little pricy at $5.75 for a kiddie size, but the quality is there to back it up. The expanded seating area was so cute! I loved the decor and cute seating. It was the perfect area to meet up with some friends for an hour. Every time I venture out to Troy, I love it a little more. Come get some ice cream!

The other night, the weather was warm. My friend and I were out for a drive. We pulled into Kurver Kreme. What a nice experience! The stand is well lit. There were dozens of vehicles in the large parking lot. It looked like a tailgate. Some customers were sitting in the back of their hatchbacks taking in the scene and enjoying the warm weather. There were no lines. Many customers were just hanging out after finishing their ice creams. Some were lost in conversation. Others were busy "people watching" as a wide variety of vehicles continued to pull into the parking lot. The stand looks to be mid-century and appropriately old R&B music and 60s Rock classics blared from the speaker system. Most of the ice cream is soft serve. I ordered a small chocolate in a cup. It was good. My friend ordered a pomegranate and mango Dole whip twist, which is sort of like sherbet. It was both pretty and tasty. Elaina was our server. She was friendly and helpful. She filled our orders quickly. We had a fun time. I'm glad we stopped.

The gyros were also served with a small side of potato salad that was excellent. There is both indoor and outdoor seating (picnic tables in the back). Indoors, it was clean and well maintained. The bathroom is huge and very clean. However, it would be nice if they installed a hook to hang your purse and coat. We also sampled the ice cream. They have both soft serve and hard ice cream. My soft serve twist was yummy and my mom enjoyed her hard ice cream. This is a nice addition to the area. We'll be back for the delicious gyros and ice cream.

I got cups to go, and I like how they package them for you, with lids and a convenient bag with their logo for carrying them. But their ice cream also remains an occasional treat and not a frequent thing. Everyone has their own price point for ice cream, and getting dishes or cones of ice cream for a family would add up, compared to buying a half-gallon of some brand at a grocery store. Your mileage can and will vary on this. When I've traveled around the country, there have been particular ice cream stores/local chains at which I don't mind paying a bit more for a high quality ice cream. I tried two scoops ($7.50) combining Blueberry Crumble with Salted Caramel Ooey Gooey Cake. All three were very good with the salted caramel our favorite and blueberry crumble a close second. There was also a display case filled with what looked like chocolate candies or treats. I couldn't see a price anywhere. Some of the labels were, dark or milk chocolate graham crackers; milk chocolate turtles; milk chocolate Oreos; key lime; gooey brownie; cherry bomb; and peanut butter. By the time we finished eating our ice cream at one of the tables inside, a long line of customers had developed. Kudos for having spoons strong enough to withstand the very hard texture of their ice cream. Maybe we should try buying a pint next time and give it a chance to soften up by driving it home and eating there.
