Custom cake (strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting and strawberry jam). Decorated with "Hollow Knight" theme

Such a great bakery experience! I ordered from out of state, and they were so incredibly kind, responsive, and helpful throughout the entire custom cake design process, even accommodating last-minute changes from a different time zone. The custom strawberry cake, mini blueberry cheesecake, lemon cheesecake, vanilla cheesecake, and carrot cake cupcake, were beautifully decorated, and my recipients were thrilled and couldn't stop raving about everything! If you're looking for a custom cake, birthday cake, or just a local bakery with amazing treats, this is the place to go! I asked for a custom cake with designs from a specific video game, and they were so helpful and made it look SO cute! Highly recommend! Five stars, 10/10, amazing customer service and spectacularly delicious treats!

Talented pastry chef Kayla Renfroe owns Cake Street Sweets on Remsen Street in Cohoes. The bakery produces cookies, pastries, and individual desserts with a focus on wedding and special occasion cakes. We first became aware of this amazing bakery when a pumpkin shaped cake was ordered for my daughter's bridal shower a few years ago. Not only did the dimensional cake look excellent, it tasted great. Today a cake was served for my granddaughter's fourth birthday party with a Frozen theme. The beautiful cake was unique because of the cake's flavor profile: cinnamon bun! Imagine that! The cake had a complementary maple flavored filling which was not too sweet but perfect in texture and flavor. The family and I were blown away by the incredible taste. The cake was enjoyed by all and received many compliments. Check out the photo! We are lucky to have such a creative and skilled baker in our area! Her creativity and commitment to pure ingredients are appreciated by my family and friends.

This cake we ordered for my friend is so beautiful and really artistically well done. It tasted delicious and was a great price for quality of the cake itself. Definitely my go to place if I need to order a cake again in the future!

I recently visited Cake Street Sweets for a 3rd time and was very disappointed in the quality and service I received. I sent an order in for my husband's birthday cake. Because they now offer vegan options, my husband chose to get the vegan flavor cake. They are not professionals in decorating vegan cakes. I sent a picture of what I wanted and discussed it over the phone. The whole cake (the icing) was not able to be made vegan which was. The decor looked like a beginner cake decorator experimented on the cake. My husband went to pick it up and didn't know what it would look like until I looked at it later that evening. When I emailed my disappointment and even resent pictures of what wanted versus what I got, Kayla responded with its a vegan cake. Then I called the next day and asked if vegan cake decor was supposed to be ugly. looked like a cake ordered from Wish. Very disappointing. Kayla was very rude and disrespectful. She even hung up on me. I would never go back there again and would never recommend her to anyone. Even if you want a vegan cake don't order unless you want a plain undecorated cake. For some reason, she can't decorate on vegan cakes. The pictures below show what I wanted and what I got. I asked for: White icing. Gold drip. Top icing(piping) design: Green, Black & Yellow In the top middle of the cake 'CG' logo. (Picture attached) I have attached pictures: (1) an example of the cake I wanted for this order. (2-4) what I got (5) the cake from last year. The logo on the top was the best part because it was printed on edible paper. She called and said they didn't have gold for the gold drip. I asked for black, green & yellow drip. She said they can't do a different color drip even though she did it last year. By the look at the cake from my previous orders, it seemed like the real cake decorator couldn't take her rude nasty attitude and left. If you did please tell me where you went so I can order from you. Kayla is going to reply saying she gave me back some of my money-"to cover the cost of the vegan supplies." That cake wasn't worth the price. I've seen better at Walmart. She only got 1 star because my husband liked the logo. **I also noticed that the owner's response to a negative comment is to blame the customer, by saying they 'Berate her'. Seems to me that the common denominator is the owner Kayla. Every single customer is wrong in how SHE handled the situation. You need to work on your customer service skills.**

This is the photo of my wedding cake they did for me!

If I could give 10 stars I would. They were so friendly and the cake was DELICIOUS! I had a white birch rustic themed wedding and this was the gorgeous cake they made!

So I stumbled across Cake Street Sweets in cohoes on google and OMGG I decided to get 2 strawberry crunch cupcakes 1 vanilla 1 carrot cake 1 Raspberry macaroon 1 slice of raspberry almond dream cake 1 blueberry muffin but pictured because I devoured it. Staff was nice quick and efficient everything tastes so good and I'm not a big frosting fan myself. But their frosting was perfect creamy and not too sweet definitely worth it go check them out!

I ordered a cake for my husband's birthday and Cake Street Sweets went above and beyond. My husband was SO happy when he saw the cake. Even happier when he tasted the cake. Thank you so much for taking pride in your company - it shows!!!

Iced coffee with coffee cubes, cookies and cream brownie, warm choc chip cookie, chocolate cupcake

Excited to have a quality bakery so close to where I live! Had an unexpected day off from work and it was a nice day, so I decided to take my jogging stroller and my twins, and make the trek downtown to get some exercise in and enjoy some sweet treats (and not feel guilty about it). The shop storefront is adorable and very welcoming...upon opening the door, the bell rang and I was greeted with a smile, and a helping hand to open the door for me. The display case had many delicious sounding options so I took a few minutes deciding what to order. I knew I wanted an iced coffee (which came with coffee cubes as to not water it down). I finally opted for a chocolate/chocolate frosted cupcake, a cookies n cream brownie, and a chocolate chip cookie. I was actually offered a warm one as they had just come out of the oven as I was in the shop. I thought that was nice. I chatted with the owner, Kayla, who was extremely friendly and personable as I checked out, and sat to enjoy my treats with my little ones in tow. Everything was really yummy. The cupcake was super dense but not overly sweet, which I really enjoyed. And who doesn't love a warm cookie? Just needed a glass of milk to go with it. All that sugar probably would have been even more enjoyable if I didn't have a 2 mile uphill walk in 80 degrees to get back home, but it was worth it! :) I had also ordered a few other goodies to go - more chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, a couple of mini cannolis, and eclairs. Those were all delicious too. I can't wait to go back and try some of their more savory items, and if I need to order desserts for an event, I'm glad I have somewhere so close!

What a horrible experience. My mother had placed an order with Kayla (the owner) for my sons baptism. My mother requested a white buttercream cake with "touches of blue" and a gold cross (see attached email, I did crop it due to my mothers personal info being attached). When we picked up the cake the day before his baptism, we received a completely blue cake with smears of frosting covering it, gold leafing and so much "detail" that it was difficult to read the writing on the cake. This was the exact opposite of what we asked and honestly confusing as I would never picture that being acceptable as a baptism cake. I called and spoke to Kayla multiple times throughout the day. Multiple times she stated that their design was beautiful and a highly requested design, however she was not understanding that it was not what we asked for. Her personal beliefs of a design are not relevant. She did offer to refrost the cake or give me a $25 credit for future purchases. $25 towards a $100 cake that was nothing of what we asked for. In the end, I decided to bring the cake back and have it re frosted. We live a significant distance from the business so when I asked how long to expect this to take she told me approx 1-2 hours depending on how long it takes them to defrost the frosting, remove it and then refrost. When I dropped it off the women I spoke to asked me what I wanted and we agreed on the design. When I picked it up the cake it looked beautiful (see picture) and I thanked them. The next day during the party, we cut into the cake and found a thick layer of blue frosting underneath and a very thin layer of white frosting on top (see picture). I then emailed Kayla and requested a full refund as these added inconveniences and poor quality are unacceptable. Kayla was extremely rude, turning the conversation on me stating I insulted her staff by saying that the original design was not acceptable (the design I didn't ask for and was not a baptism looking design) and so fourth. She also attempted to state my mother did not specify the design during a phone conversation, however the email proof is very clear. Kayla then offered me a 50% refund, however rescinded that when I stated her customer service was poor and a full refund should be applied. I am absolutely shocked by my experience and am leaving a review in hopes no one else has to deal with the stress and disrespect of this owner. I'm sure the owner will have a lot to say in response, however all I ask is that you show compassion to future customers during their special day.

I don't remember when I had a more perfect chocolate cupcake, each time I've come here, the quality and service are perfect! Consistency and good service is what I look for. The attention to detail, hospitality, and kindness from Christian, the young man who works there, is exceptional. As I wrote before, the bakery shares the parking lot with the Yemeni coffee shop Shibam next door. The Yemeni coffee is just perfect with Sweet Elevation's treats, so don't miss this spot if you visit next door. I hope they can work out on doing something together. I've gotten hooked on Sweet Elevation's chocolate cupcakes. I'm having one as I write this review (these really are the freshest and best chocolate cupcakes) with some Yemeni coffee from next door - who knew how perfectly they go together. I'm very picky when it comes to cupcakes, and these are so soft, fresh, moist, fluffy, with perfect frosting with the sprinkles! Each time! It's really cute inside the cafe. What I'm most picky about is service, and I'm impressed with Christian, he's a respectful gentleman, knowledgeable, and really helpful with recommendations. Responsible, helpful, paying attention, intelligent. People my age often complain about the younger generation, they should meet Christian, our world's future is bright with young people like this. Good luck whatever you do Christian, and may you continue to shine as you do now always! Amen!

The beautifully decorated cookies were delicious unlike others we have had that look great BUT taste awful. Hard and flavorless, after one bite, they are tossed aside. These freshly made shortbread cookies "melted" in your mouth. The butter flavor was subtle yet easy to pick out. The texture was firm yet crumbly, and they were moist! Many people wanted to know where they were purchased. I attended a Yelp Elite Event at Sweet Elevation Bakery in Latham recently, so I knew it was an outstanding bakery. I knew that they employ FT decorators/bakers for the cakes and cookies. I also learned that their Custom Cookies are a big seller. Businesses and families order them for special occasions.

It's cute inside and the service was friendly and informative. They let me know that EVERYTHING, even the puff pastry is made in house!!! Very impressive! I bought a couple glazed donuts to make up for the horrible pastry and donuts that I had this week from elsewhere. I'm so glad I did because they were fresh made and moist and the glaze was still wet! If nothing else they made was good, I would go back just for the glazed donuts! But everything is great so let's keep chatting! I originally decided to drive there to get the cinnamon bread that I remember as a kid. Unfortunately they were sold out. But they did have what they called Easter bread, which is s rich egg loaf, similar to Challah with red and golden raisins in it and the dough is lemon flavored. I bought a loaf of that and brought it home and made epic French toast with it! I highly suggest you do the same! I also tried their spinach pastry and "pizza" pastry, delicious! All the dough here just melts in your mouth without leaving a leathery film on your tongue which means it's real pastry made with butter! I have thus resigned myself to the fact that I will be gaining weight soon due to the frequency in which I plan to keep visiting this place haha!

I knew we needed to make it one of the stops on the donut tour, and it was 100% the right decision. These donuts were out of this world delicious. The exact right texture and mouthfeel I personally want out of a donut. Sweet, but not too sweet that you can't enjoy every last morsel. I also loved the variety available... maybe 10 different donuts all together at the after-lunch part of the day, all classics and nothing dripping in over-frosted goo or crazy toppings. These are the donuts that donuts are named after. We will definitely travel out to Watervliet to visit the small, old school vibes kinda bakery for a dozen or so of these again. A++.

After getting stymied not once, but twice (both bakeries were closed this particular Monday due to the holiday), I resigned myself to stop at The Desert Tray and see what they had, provided they were open. They were and I am all the better for it. It's a shop with a smaller selection of baked goods than you'd see at your average italian bakery, but the ones I sampled were delectable. I ordered a few scones, a couple of cookies, two eclairs, and two lemon bars. I'm not a scone or lemon bar person, but we had relatives over and I figured they'd like those. I had my eye on the eclair. Correction, I wasn't a scone or lemon bar guy, but Tracy made me a convert. While not your traditional scone, these were delicious: moist and filled with fruit and one was cinnamon. Oh, but the eclair trumped the scone. The owner's father was explaining how she makes them. Again, a spin on a traditional eclair, with Belgian chocolate and french vanilla in the creme. I'm ruined on traditional eclairs now. Kudos to Tracey on a fresh (and delicious) spin on some classics.
