Best bakery in the NY capital region. During my time in Albany, I've been to a lot of bakeries. I came to Sweet Elevation 3 times in just 2 weeks. I don't remember when I had a more perfect chocolate cupcake, each time I've come here, the quality and service are perfect! Consistency and good service is what I look for. The attention to detail, hospitality, and kindness from Christian, the young man who works there, is exceptional. As I wrote before, the bakery shares the parking lot with the Yemeni coffee shop Shibam next door. The Yemeni coffee is just perfect with Sweet Elevation's treats, so don't miss this spot if you visit next door. I hope they can work out on doing something together. I've gotten hooked on Sweet Elevation's chocolate cupcakes. I'm having one as I write this review (these really are the freshest and best chocolate cupcakes) with some Yemeni coffee from next door - who knew how perfectly they go together. I'm very picky when it comes to cupcakes, and these are so soft, fresh, moist, fluffy, with perfect frosting with the sprinkles! Each time! It's really cute inside the cafe. What I'm most picky about is service, and I'm impressed with Christian, he's a respectful gentleman, knowledgeable, and really helpful with recommendations. Responsible, helpful, paying attention, intelligent. People my age often complain about the younger generation, they should meet Christian, our world's future is bright with young people like this. I was very disappointed in the sweets, I went there and got a fruit pastry that's filled with cream the mango one and it was $10 and any person can finish it in two bites and I felt like it was way overpriced for three bites, I also got a sugar cookie, and there was so much frosting on the top that was hard, and you could barely bite into it, and I really hurt your teeth, but the bottom of the cookie was okay, and last I got Dubai chocolate brownie, and the crunchy top tasted very weird and minty and tasted absolutely nothing like Dubai chocolate, which the worker did not tell me and overall we had a very bad experience with the sweets and the prices. If you're looking for a bakery, I wouldn't choose this one. read more

I attended a Baptism Reception on Saturday. My niece ordered cookies in the shape of a cross for the occasion. The beautifully decorated cookies were delicious unlike others we have had that look great BUT taste awful. Hard and flavorless, after one bite, they are tossed aside. These freshly made shortbread cookies "melted" in your mouth. The butter flavor was subtle yet easy to pick out. The texture was firm yet crumbly, and they were moist! Many people wanted to know where they were purchased. I attended a Yelp Elite Event at Sweet Elevation Bakery in Latham recently, so I knew it was an outstanding bakery. This review is for the bakery's new location at 356 Troy Schenectady Road, Latham, NY 12110. Sweet Elevation is a very appropriate name for this bakery. Many of the offerings in the cases are not only sweet but also a level above the typical baked goods found at other bakeries. Yes, they have cookies, cupcakes, and muffins. But they also offer fresh filled cannoli, macarons, cake pops, brownies, and more. Ever heard of Knafeh (Dubai Bar)? Neither had I, but we tried one filled with a pistachio crème, and it was absolutely luscious. So were the macaron, the millionaire bar, the lemon bar, the almond tart with raspberry, the OMG bar, and a few other things that I don't recall the names of. Everything we purchased was very fresh. They do offer some items that are gluten free. While I did see a pot of coffee brewing behind the cases, the indoor area is not conducive to sitting down and relaxing. It did appear that there were some stacked chairs set aside for use on a patio during warm weather. We chose to take our purchases home to enjoy. Extremely disappointing! Everyone knows how hard it is to find the perfect cake or dessert for a loved one. I was referred to this place so I called for pricing. No one answered and the hours of operation is wrong on the answering machine. So I tried later on and someone picked up and didn't say hello. So I said hello is this sweet elevation and she said yes I said can I ask for pricing she said no can you come in? I said I can't unfortunately then I was hung up on. I decided to try to call back. Again I did. Again no one greets on the phone so I again said hello is this sweet elevation she replied yes. I said I just want to know for simple cupcakes nothing fancy. Vanilla cake with buttercream frosting total of 20. She said $75. Is she serious?? 3.75 for a plain cupcake!?! I said thank you but I'll look elsewhere. She hung up. I stopped in to ask questions about a carrot cake I wished to order for 20 people. I was told to use the website, it's "easy" and I can "pay online" I was told. I was the only customer in the store so I don't understand why I couldn't ask my questions while there. I decided to buy a small cupcake sized cheesecake and a couple of scones to try their goodies. I really wanted to like this place. While at the counter to pay I saw the Tip Jar. I guess they wanted me to tip for putting $15 of pastries in a box or bag. Is that a new thing? The cheesecake was pretty and creamy but with surprisingly little cream cheese flavor. The scones looked yummy but were meh and tossed out unfinished. I live nearby in a senior community where birthday cakes are purchased often. I use a walker and it was an effort to get there. I've since ordered from Bella Napoli where someone actually helped me. Placed an order for my boyfriends birthday cake and wasn't too specific about what I wanted, but Sweet Elevation did a great job anyway. I will say that the location of the shop was a bit unusual, as it was on the lower level of a building where there is also a social security office but it's not hard to find, just an unusual spot. The cake itself as you can see, was decorated beautifully, and we requested a half chocolate half vanilla cake with cherry filling which was accomodated precisely as requested. The flavor of the cake was also very good of course as was the filling. The shop was cute, the dessert was tasty and fresh, and the additional treats on display looked absolutely delicious. The only issue I had was the location of the shop but you'll be able to smell it as soon as you enter the building. I'll definitely be coming back to this location and recommending to friends! read more
