Wow! What a find! As they say on their website, "everything is gluten free & made in-house from scratch." You'd never know it was gluten-free. I had apple cheesecake, brownies, and a cream puff. Wow!! They were excellent. Probably some of the best bakery treats I've ever had! The apple cheesecake is unique. They have ice cream sandwiches and macarons, and I can't wait to go back. I recently purchased a cake for an event at my house when I learned that several of my guests had gluten issues. While I'm usually pretty good at not getting out of control at bakeries and pastry shops, it was awfully tempting to want a shopping cart here. Besides the cake being delicious, there's just so many other fantastic confections here, all gluten-free. Absolutely hands down the best gluten free bakery I've come across in the tri-state area. The muffins are moist, soft and have that perfect crumble. The cream puff was divine. We also tried the peanut butter cake which was also the perfect combination of sweet, and moist. This bakery reminded us of very good French bakeries in our past pre-gf. From the moment you go in, the environment and space is so welcoming. They have so much and the service is top notch. Aside from baked goods, they have ice cream sandwiches, edible cookie dough, frozen bread and goodies. They also have chocolate, flour mixes and souvenirs. I hate to provide a low rating for a small bakery but... it just wasn't good. The place is cute and clean with a minimal selection of baked goods. It ranges from parfaits, to cake slices to macrons. They had a section of fancy homemade chocolate which were gorgeous. They were pretty pricey which is understandable because they're gourmet. They make great presents. My family had a slice of the chocolate cake with strawberry and it was dense with little to no flavor. It just taste like pure sugar. We then had a slice of the red velvet cheesecake which taste like a regular slice of cheesecake but alot sweeter. We also had two macarons that didn't have the texture of a macaron or the flavor that it was advertised as. It was just sweet. The coffee didn't taste like coffee and the the berry didnt taste like berries. We didn't even finish them. Most items are beautiful... the flavor is lacking. read more

I've been in many times and purchased the delicious cream puffs and cookies from the case . I ordered a specialty cake XXX Chocolate with buttercream frosting during the week for a Saturday afternoon pick up. This was for myself and my friend's belated March birthday. The cake was extremely dry and the buttercream frosting piping was actually falling off the cake . We followed the instructions of taking cake out of refrigerator 2 hrs before serving. I'm not sure what this was supposed to do to the cake because it was still stale. Needless to say I was so disappointed and embarrassed!!!!! This cake was not made fresh !!!! No doubt at all!!! Haven't had a cream puff in YEARS and it was sooo good), a macaron, and chocolate mousse. I think the cream puff was my absolute favorite partially because I've had macarons and mousses and all that, but gf puffs are very hard to find. Do they have croissants? That is my strongest desire. Awesome gluten free bakery! I picked up this custom cake for me nephew, who has celiac. I was blown away but the beautiful design! The ordering process was so easy and the cake came out absolutely perfect for his truck themed party. I've visited Different Blend Bakery before to pick up some sweets and absolutely loved them. As someone who transitioned to gluten free as an adult and has a big sweet tooth, I can testify that these baked goods are exceptional, gluten free or not! You would never know that all these products are gluten free and they have a wide variety of baked goods as well as some frozen items, granola, chocolates etc. whether you are gluten free or not, you need to check out Different Blend! Hot damn. This is a wonderful addition to my list of go to places for gluten free baked goods. The quality is very high. The flavors and variety is wonderful. I'm looking forward to trying more of their goods. I will say that their cakes and cookies are very much geared towards the American palette. Everything is a hair too sweet for me, but the flavor is good. I know I will find my kryptonite: something far less sweet and yet still contains a day's worth of calories!!! YES! This place is gluten free heaven. They have a great variety of options, and since it's a dedicated gluten-free facility, you don't have to worry about contamination. They sell everything from baked goods to ice cream sandwiches and even have a shelf in the back for gluten free baking and pasta to prepare at home. We got a bunch of different items since it was a bit of a drive away from us. The first thing that I saw that I had my eye on was their crumb cake. I haven't had crumb cake in over a decade, maybe two, and it was absolutely as good as I hoped it would be. The cake was moist and it had a great texture to it. The other thing that stole my heart was the giant cookies. They are absolutely delicious, a bit of a crisp texture on the outside and yet soft and gooey on the inside. We also got a muffin which was good and flavorful, and had that nice crunchy kind of muffin top that I really like without being too dense. The pumpkins macaroons were great as well, and had a really nice texture to them. We also tried the raspberry and chocolate cake, which was extremely well priced, which is what convinced me to get it. Unfortunately it wasn't for me. The raspberry cream was very stiff and creamy, and the whole thing was just extremely sweet to me. My husband loved it, but I'm just not a big fan of those kinds of cakes, so it's more of a personal preference thing. Overall, this place is absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to go back and see what else they have to offer! Ever since Greulich's closed down, my family and I have been waiting to see what would happen with this space. When we heard that a gluten-free bakery would be starting up here, we were very excited. As we passed by every day, watching the progress on the renovation, we became even more excited. Today (10/24/2015) was opening day, and my daughter and I stopped in to check it out. The two employees who helped us out could NOT have been friendlier. They were excited to be open, and from what they told us, in the four hours since they'd opened, things had been going very well. They told us a bit about the building, and that they're not the ONLY business that's going to be there. They've basically got the front third for the bakery, but there will eventually be a fitness center/gym located in the back, as well as something like a hair salon in the remaining space. Even with just a third of the building, they've got a LOT of room. Right now, things feel a little sparse. They've got one display case/counter near the front of the store, and a couple of shelves in the back, where they had some packaged cookies, some cereal, protein bars, and a cooler for cold drinks and juice. As time goes on, they may put in some seating, but for now, it's take-out only. Hey, one thing at a time. The main counter is on the right as you walk in. That's where they display their cakes, cupcakes, and macarons. We bought a few of each kind of cupcake they were offering -- XXX Chocolate, Peanut Butter Chocolate, Pumpkin and Cream Cheese with Caramel, and Vanilla Cream Cheese with Caramel (they had just run out of the Vanilla Raspberry). I also grabbed some macarons and a coffee for the road (self-serve). Checkout was simple. They've got a Square Reader, and I had my receipt texted to me. This isn't a muffins, bagels, or croissants kind of bakery (at least not during the first four hours of their existence). They do cakes. You can actually order specialty cakes from their website, which I'll most likely be doing for my wife's birthday next month. Every single item I purchased was beautifully made, and delicious. I'm glad to have this place right in my neighborhood, and I'm looking forward to watching them grow. read more

The name is rather deceiving as it would seem that Different Blend Bakery would serve coffee but they don't. There are 2 high top tables to sit and eat but the only beverages available are a few choices in the cooler. The space is very bright, neat, and clean. The staff- very friendly. The 2 items that I chose (muffin & biscotti) had both has an after-taste and the consistency of the muffin was too flimsy for my taste. And I felt both were $$. However, I did see a beautifully decorated cake that was purchased while I was there. read more

If I could eat something from a Different Blend every day I would be the happiest Celiac patient ever! My bank account would not be so happy, but my tummy and the rest of me sure would be :) There is nothing that this amazing place cannot whip up and make safe for those of us who need to be Gluten Free for whatever reason. They also sell supplies for you to make some of your own creations at home - why would you ever want to with all that they tempt you with on their shelves and in their cases?!? Went for the first time today, and it was such a great experience! If you have a child with a gluten allergy, you know how frustrating it can be to try to find a place where they can actually pick something out from a display case without being disappointed (flourless chocolate cake again or a cold cupcake) or told no that it would hurt their tummy. For the first time in her life, my 3 year old had the opportunity to pick out whatever she wanted and I knew it would be safe for her to eat. Plus the employee was very friendly and helpful and let my daughter take as long as she needed to browse without rushing her at all. We will be returning often!! My fiancée and I went to Different Blend for the first time this past weekend (after binging baking shows on Netflix). Their selection was great, and it is awesome that everything is gluten free. We tried some macarons of differing flavors and they were so well put together. The cashier informed us that the crème puffs are their best seller, so of course we tried that as well. Different blend is a celiac's paradise. They did a small cutting cake and macaroons for my wedding and did an amazing job. The cake was beautiful and absolutely delicious, as well as the salted caramel macaroons. I've had their cake slices in store, and they definitely are not as good as purchasing a whole cake. Our wedding cake tasted much fresher, so I'd recommend getting an entire cake over their slices. They have amazing baked goods and so many choices. I visit quite frequently but there are so many things I haven't been able to try. My favorite things in their cases are the macaroons and the cream puffs - the cream puffs are massive and absolutely amazing. A lot of their items I think are better than other bakeries gluten versions. I also ordered food and pies from them for thanksgiving and everything came out great. As a glutard, I love this place. Even if you don't have a gluten allergy I strongly recommend trying their cheesecakes. In addition to a pastry shelf they have ready bake items that are frozen. Their frozen sugar cookies bake up fantastic and the cinnamon rolls are good (great by gf standards). I have been disappointed by some of the individual bakes goods at times I've gotten from the fresh case at times. In particular I did not like the savory items I tried. The pies, cakes, cookies, peanut brittle etc has all been great though. I hope they get some of their frozen cookies in grocery stores in Clifton park and Saratoga as the drive is a bit long! read more

I have purchased many different products from this bakery and have been delighted with each one. I am unsure which is my ultimate favorite but I do. It the chocolate chip cookies each time I go there. The cakes have been a staple at many birthday parties and are not only delicious, but beautiful as well. They have also been a destination for dairy free products for many of my friends. This is an easy location to get to ( I live about an hour from there) and everyone is super nice and knowledgeable about the products. My husband and I were not intentionally searching for a gluten-free cake for our wedding but decided to give this bakery a try and could not be happier that we did. Jessica was great at executing exactly what we were looking for. After attending a tasting, we decided on a simple one-tiered cake that we could decorate with flowers. The tasting actually led us to choose a flavor combination that we would have never considered otherwise (strawberry and Nutella) and were pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was! I am so grateful to have found this Gluten free bakery while spending a few days in the Albany area. It's such a little gem! I bought a bunch of different fresh baked goods and LOVED them all. Everything there was GF, which is amazing and unusual to find!!! No worries for cross contamination! I got a cherry pop tart...Amazing!!! A puffed pistachio cannoli (I think that's what it was called)...to die for! A lemon raspberry cake (not sure of official name) and it was a slice of heaven! A key lime cheese cake.....an explosion of flavor and love! They also have a freezer section of their baked goods like dinner rolls, focaccia bread, pie crusts....etc. since I was traveling I just bought a caramelized onion & rosemary focaccia bread. I haven't tried that yet, but based on everything else I got there I'm sure it's amazeballs! The staff was super friendly and helpful too! I've been a customer since they opened in late 2015 and have followed their growth to a strong presence in the area. All the items I have tried, which believe me is every item they make, is fabulous. It's a dream come true for celiacs but EVERYONE enjoys their baked goods as they are delicious-would never tell they are gluten free. They have grown slow and steady which keeps the integrity of their goods. Offerings now include breads, pizza dough, pie shells, unbaked items that you can bake at your will at home. The unbaked cinnamon buns are the best I've ever eaten including Cinnabon's! The homemade ice cream and ice cream sandwich's are real ice cream, not the 'imitation stuff' you get at the corner ice cream store! My son and I were looking for GF treats while staying in Schenectady over the weekend and found Jessica Smith and her fabulous baked goods (ice cream too) listed on the Find Me Gluten Free app( highly recommended) so we checked it out. Not having anything like this near home we were amazed when we saw the assortment in the cases and coolers. The owner, Jessica was behind the counter and gave us a tour of heaven on earth for those afflicted with (and those without) gluten intolerance needing something sweet and delicious. Make no mistake if she didn't tell you you wouldn't know it from grain based baked goods. A cooler with items to take home and bake yourself along with a small grocery section round out the store. We inquired about shipping and were told they were going to try it after the holidays. So we pondered the choices made selections, finished our lovely chat with the chef and headed to the car to enjoy our purchases. One bite, literally and right back in to stock up on peach hand pies for the 4 hour ride home and some to share later.
