I was never really a donut person, but when I tried their free donuts at the Albany Tree Lighting event... they converted me. So much that I stopped by their shop on a late Sunday morning to a HUGE variety of donuts. They have vanilla based donuts in addition to cider donut. They've got vegan donuts and mishapen discount donuts. They also do too good to go as well as donate any left over donuts. I got the cappuccino and ginger cider donuts and a small coffee. I'll probably stick to their original as the glazes were a little too cakes on and sweet for my liking. Despite the sweetness, the ginger and coffee flavors did shine through... so for those who like sweet things -- this is amazing. In addition to donuts, they have hot apple cider and speciality coffee, tea and cider drinks! It's a cute space where I would love to sit at, drink some coffee and donuts with a book on a snowy morning. read more

Very good donuts! They're cider based and homemade. They have gluten-free options too. Service was friendly and helpful. The donuts are cakey. I think they taste better putting in the microwave for a few seconds. They have all sorts of coffees too. They're open only from 7-1 everyday, and they can sell out of the popular donuts. The selection of deliciousness is astounding!! Chefs are creative and have customers tummy's in mind here. We got a bakers dozen and were surprised at how yummy doughnuts can be! (Flavor combinations are delightful: I would add a lemon poppy doughnut with blueberry glaze or seasonal sweet potato with cinnamon glaze maybe rolled in crushed pecans?) The service is outstanding! Took my fam of 4 here for some specialty donuts and was not disappointed! The place was empty which was good for parking and quickness of service for us. So many choices!! My kids couldn't decide which donut to pick. Eventually we decided on the sprinkles o' sprinkles, Samoa, cheesecake, lovely lemon and Maine blueberry. All were delicious and artisan! I also had a butterscotch latte and it was yummy. 3 guys were working and all were very friendly and seemed to be enjoying working. We originally planned to eat there but unfortunately there is very little seating. I think the max I saw is 2 person table so the space is pretty tight. Hit up Cider Belly for some donuts while heading out of Albany after spending a weekend there for a soccer tournament. Immediately upon walking in we were greeted by pleasant staff who offered to answer any questions and immediately took our order. We decided to grab six donuts to split up in the car on the drive home and sure are glad we did. (Side Note: Plastic knives would be a good addition to Cider Belly as they did not have any) The best donuts in the lot were the apple cider donut, the maple frosted and the Maine blueberry but there wasn't a bad one in the lot. Donuts range a bit in prices depending upon the size and sophistication of the donut but anticipate paying around $3 or so for each donut. There's a coffee menu board available, as well, and a seasonal latte did the trick for the car ride home. Cider Belly was a great stop while in Albany and I certainly would recommend checking them out! read more

I came here on a Saturday morning to get a donut or two for my wife and me as a nice weekend respite. I had a hardened resolve to only buy at most two for each of us, but didn't know what my wife would want so when I went in I called her and read her off the varieties. After about twenty (and I skipped all the vegan options) I realized it was a hopeless proposition, so I let her pick 2 and then I picked another four that looked good. Black Raspberry; Cranberry Orange; Lemon; Smores; Cannoli, and "Cookie Monster" found their way into our to-go box. So much for my hardened resolve. The lemon was outstanding, and really tasted sharp like lemon. The Black Raspberry was certainly pretty but it didn't have as distinct a flavor. Maybe I should had started with that one. The orange cranberry did have tart hints from the orange citrus. Of those three, my wife was correct that the lemon was best. Out of the three I picked out for me, the Smores was outstanding. I forgot that they always used cider donuts and assumed a chocolate cake donut would be the base. Still, the chocolate and marshmallow topping were fantastic. We later tried the Cannoli one and it reminded us more of a Boston cream pie than a cannoli. I really didn't get much ricotta or pastry cream flavor. The white chocolate chips didn't help. I can't say what flavor "Cookie Monster" is but I loved the Oreo and other cookie piece decorations for the ears and eyebrows. It made me feel like a kid again, and when our son is older I will get one for him. In fact, as I was leaving a father and son were ogling them behind the counter. Of all six, I liked the smores one the best. These aren't healthy, and at $2-3 each they aren't cheap. But they are fun. They have a lot of flavors. And they are fun dessert option. As Cookie Monster would say: "a round donut with a bite out of it looks like a C... but it is not as good as a cookie." He might be wrong... maybe, just maybe, these donuts are better! read more

So glad we made it here! Our gosh gave us the run around so we came close to closing time and felt bad about that. The whole staff was extremely welcoming though and made conversation with us. I have been a customer for many years and love Cider Belly Donuts! These donuts are not your average donut. They go above and beyond with their unique flavors and the cider donut base is dense and delicious. If you're looking for a classic cider donut, a donut piled high with toppings or something in between Cider Belly is the place to go! They have many options for flavor, vegan and gluten free options. You can choose your own assorted donuts in the store or do a pick up order. I placed a pick up order over the phone for Valentine's Day and they were so easy to work with and my donuts were ready when I walked in to pick them up! I also love their cold brew coffees as well! The salted caramel is my favorite! And don't forget to grab a bag of the "flop" donuts for $1. You can't beat the price and they are great donuts despite not being "presentable" for the case. The service is great from pick up orders to walking into the store, everyone is friendly and willing to assist with any questions! These are the best donuts anywhere. I don't live in Albany any more and my life is sad now. No lie, when anyone travels to Albany I demand they buy me some and bring them back in their luggage. My all time favorite is Demolition Man but there are so many close contenders. The Doh Nut and Das Yum are always safe bets. I once had some combo of blueberry and chocolate that was delicious.
