We needed a little lunch before we had a little ice cream. We ordered the poutine but had to return it to the window upon noticing that we had cold , large chunks of cheese curds on top of our gravy and fries. The girl at the counter remade them for us ( with a touch of attitude) but we definitely should have just ordered something else. I ordered chicken tenders, fries, mac and cheese, and a hot dog. To start, the chicken tenders were excellent. They were light, airy, and crispy. Likewise, the fries were delicious. They were hand cut, crispy, and tasted homemade. On the other hand, the mac and cheese was mediocre. To explain, it was really cheesy, but it was so heavy that you couldn't eat very much without getting sick. Similarly, the hot dog was average. To enumerate, the hot dog itself had good flavor, but the meat sauce was ridiculously sweet. After that, I ordered a chocolate shake for dessert and it was great. What a difference a change in seasons makes. Coming here on a weekday in the middle of September and there was plenty of parking, plenty of outdoor seating available, and only TWO ice cream windows open for sales. So, today's visit was purposely timed when it WAS available. My wife ordered a medium dish of the Coffee flavor, and I ordered a medium dish of Mocha ($5.30 each). We visited this establishment while on vacation in Lake George. Numerous folks told us about it and, while driving past, the establishment was always jam-packed with patrons. All of this added up to very good signs to try it. There didn't appear to be a good time to visit, as the lines were always massive. We took the plunge and visited on a night with good weather. It is clear that the customers from Six Flags contribute to the lines, so plan accordingly. The old-time feel is what makes this place very fun, and it contributes to the experience. Parking was easy to find and the line was actually moved quite quickly by the staff. The staff were helpful, kind, and organized. I opted for the peach ice cream, as I love anything with peach flavor. Was it good? Absolutely! The portions are immense. I'm an eater and have been known to clean my plate with the best of them. I could NOT finish this portion of ice cream, as it was absolutely massive. Know this going in, as even the small is huge. A few years ago a former Yelp CM led tours of Soft Serve places in the greater Albany area. We never got as far north as Queensbury which is too bad because Martha's blows away all others. First, the custard is dense for a more satisfying experience. Second, the portions are huge. Third, the flavors are amazing. I got a medium with half raspberry/chocolate swirl and half salted caramel and skipped dinner after. Be aware that not all flavors are available every day, but if your favorite is not on order you can order it as a "cookie" (presumably like an ice cream sandwich). We were there on the way back from the eclipse, so early season and only two windows open. Even so the line moved quickly. They seem to have 2 people assigned to each window: one to take the order and handle payment and the other to fill the order. It's a good system and better than the vast majority of seasonal ice cream places that take forever. read more
