DeVoe's Rainbow Orchards was started by a small family nearly 100 years ago and now has a orchard, an approved post office, country store and an ice cream parlor. Mostly here for Devoes ice cream but thought I go explore the post office inside as I had something to mail instead of driving up a little north. They carry vegetables, seasonal plants, and apples specifically for animals. Customer friendly staff and a friendly dog welcomed me at the door. read more

Located on the same site as DeVoe's Rainbow Orchards, DeVoe's Rainbow Delights is a little outside takeout place serving hot food and ice cream treats. This is a convenient place to stop to recharge after some major shopping at the nearby Wal-Mart Supercenter. The place is pretty laid back. Order your food and ice cream at the outside takeout windows. They have outside picnic tables and also an indoor dining room. The food menu offers burgers, hot dogs, chili, paninis, sandwiches (steak, pulled pork, sausage, chicken breast), meatball subs, chicken tenders, fried foods, salads, and RC Cola drinks. They also have corn nuggets with maple syrup, fresh picked corn on the cob, mac & cheese wedges, and salt potatoes topped with melted butter. For cold treats, they offer soft serve ice cream (no hard ice cream) and frozen yogurt in cups, cones, & waffle cones, chocolate & cherry dips, sundaes, shakes, floats, malts, slush puppies, banana splits, flurrys, and pie ala mode. The prices here are fair, soft serve cones priced $1.25-$2.35, waffle cones $2.25-$3.10, and a regular flurry $3.85, before 7% tax. The Greeker Dog (hot dog smothered with meat sauce, onions, & mustard), Salt Potatoes, and a large Coffee Shake (20 oz cup) all tasted pretty darn good after shopping with the crowds at Wal-Mart, where I picked up several items including some frosty refreshments not sold where I live. This place has great baked goods and you can rent a U-Haul truck there - what other establishment offers up that kind of combination? I would give this place four or five stars - but unfortunately they openly flout any sort of mask regulation. I have been to Devoe's three times in the last two weeks, and every single time there was at least one person in the establishment not wearing a mask. I made a comment to one of the owners about it and she told me "well, let's not rush to judgement, you don't know that person's situation, maybe they have a medical condition that prevents them from being able to wear a mask." Fair enough, I guess, but then when I went back to return the truck a guy came in behind me, couldn't have been more than 25 years old, no mask on, no mask anywhere, and just walked up to the counter to reserve a piece of equipment. It's just unconscionable that people that operate a business could be so ignorant to the major health crisis at hand. It's not April of 2020, this isn't some new thing. You really, really should wear a mask in public. Not wearing a mask at DeVoe's could have some really dire consequences given how many high risk (read: elderly) people like to shop there. I thought maybe I was alone in my observations about their terrible mask compliance policies, but check out their reviews on a popular search engine...you'll find that numerous people have pointed this out. Shop elsewhere until these people figure it out. It will be no surprise when contact tracing reveals that an outbreak happened because of the lousy enforcement at DeVoes. read more

When we lived in Clifton Park (until the summer of 2016) this was our go-to ice cream place. Be warned that they mostly do soft serve with chocolate, vanilla, and one rotating flavor every week. We would drive by and try to guess what it would be. Sometimes they would be awesome like Raspberry or Pistachio, and sometimes they are lousy like Banana or Pineapple (my opinion). Warning: order the smallest size you think you want first and then order up if you want more the next time you come. The amount they give you is crazy. Over the last few years I think I have seen them start to carry hard ice cream. They also do sundaes and floats and such. They offer burgers and hot dogs too. There is outdoor seating though on busy nights it is crowded... the same thing goes for the parking lot. But, it is a fun place to eat. I honestly don't see how anyone can rate this place below a 5! The soft serve is the best around, the prices are lowest around and they are quick! This place beats Country Drive In by miles!! The soft serve is high quality and creamy and the servings are huge! A small is like a medium which is great bang for your buck! They have hot food too which is awesome! There is inside seating from the side which I think most people don't see at first glance but it's there if need be but it's nice to enjoy the weather out on their outside benches or just sit in the car. The food here is really unremarkable. As for the icecream, I do enjoy their icecream flavors every once in a while, but the only thing I used to go there for was for their fat-free frozen yogurt. Ever since their frozen yogurt machine broke, they have never fixed it. Needless to say they lost a regular customer in me after that. Please fix your yogurt machine guys! read more

After my Karate Class just up the road, I decided to head over and try DeVoe's Rainbow Delights for some Ice Cream to cool off from a great session. I honestly wish we had just gone to a McDonald's, or some other Fast Food Chain. The experience here was truly terrible. My parents hadn't eaten dinner yet and had decided to grab some food to go. We pulled up and it was moderately busy. As soon as we got in line, it felt as though everyone and their Grandmother showed up, which was oddly funny and gave both my Dad and myself a laugh. We looked over the menu, him for dinner and myself for some Ice Cream. I decided on a Medium Vanilla Cone. My Dad decided on his order and we walked up to the counter. The guy behind the counter was a jerk. He looked about my age, College bound and working a summer job for some extra cash. We gave him our order, which he took with an attitude, staring at us condescendingly, and making little remarks here and there about our order. Certain parts of the order we had to repeat multiple times and he jotted it down. We paid about $25 for barely any food and one Medium Ice Cream Cone. My Ice Cream Cone came out about 5 minutes later. It looked amazing! They swirled the Ice Cream on top of the cone in a perfect spiral and had just the right amount for the money. Thinking that this was going to be a great Ice Cream Cone, I delved in. Uhh...I take back that last sentence. As I took my first bite of Ice Cream, the flavor was great and the texture was smooth and creamy...until I reached the little pieces of yellow bits. I reached a finger to my mouth and pulled one out after gagging the rest into my napkin. I'm still not sure exactly WHAT those yellow bits were, the only thing I could think of is perhaps it was mix that had not been fully incorporated. Either way, it was a major turn off and disgusting. I finished the ice cream cone, not feeling like throwing away good money and vowed to myself that I would not make a repeat visit to this place. The crowd of Mother's and Children behind us only ordered Ice Cream, and the couple before us only ordered Cheeseburgers and fries. Their food took about 30 minutes to come out. Really? Our order took almost 45 minutes from start to finish! Finally we're called up to the left side of the little Shack and approach the window. The woman hands us the food and thanks us for our patronage. She closes the window. Any smart person always knows to check the bag before leaving any food restaurant. As expected, we have food missing as well as a Chocolate shake. We tap on the window until we get the woman's attention and explain to her what we're missing. She looks at us oddly, shuts the window and proceeds to speak with the College Jerk at the window. She comes back and tells us that we had not been charged for the items. I look at my Dad, then back to the woman and tell her that we repeated the order at least three times to the guy and he wrote down everything. She still proceeds to shake her head and tells us that we were not charged and if we want the items that are missing, we'll have to pay an additional $7.00. Are you kidding? Not looking for a confrontation, my Dad just shook his head and handed over the money. We then wait ANOTHER 20 MINUTES for a Chocolate Shake and a large order of Fries. I'm beyond mad at this point because I feel as if we've been had, and made to pay more money for something that they messed up on and should have offered freely for making a mistake. We got home and the fries were soggy, the onion rings were soggy, the burgers tasted like freezer burn, and the hot dog my Mother ate, tasted like old shoe leather. The chocolate milkshake tasted like someone poured a whole bottle of Hershey's Syrup inside of it and was thinner then cotton underwear! This place is horrible, the menu is minimal, the ice cream is disgusting, the food is old and nasty, and the service is crap, not to mention the nasty attitudes. DeVoe's needs a health inspection, a Menu Makeover, and to Hire some new staff. To spend a dime here would be too much, please save you're money and avoid DeVoe's Rainbow Delights like the plague. read more

I was very excited to try this ice cream place. My boyfriend and I are new in the area and we noticed this place on route 9. I was highly disappointed. I got Moose tracks with rainbow sprinkles (Which they forgot to put on so I had to go back to the window to have them do so) which is one of my all time favorites and it tasted not so good. I should have gotten soft served as I saw other people with it and that looks more like their specialty. This is a seasonal business that I tend to migrate to every so often during the warm months, as they have a takeout stand and only outdoor seating. I've only had the soft serve ice cream there, so I can really only speak to that. I find the ice cream to be quite tasty, and with reasonable portions as well. After reading Cristina D.'s review, feel compelled to say something in defense of this great little ice cream stand. Nice young woman took our order for a BarbequeDog and coffee cone. Food came out quickly, was really very good and no complaints about anything. The ice cream was very yummy, smooth and creamy without an overpowering coffee flavor. The barbequed hot dog was really good and made me wish that it had been my order instead of DH's. Good dog, pulled pork on top with a frosting of coleslaw - how good is that?!? It's not gourmet food or silver service, but what does a reasonable person expect at an ice cream stand. Really!!
