It is in a former ice cream store, and the old sign is still up for the former tenant. In fact, I was confused when I saw lots of people going in and out but none seemed to be eating ice cream. Curiosity got the best of me and I went exploring. They have their own small yellow sign hanging outside their door but the website listed doesn't seem to work. Per talks with the employees, they have been open 4-5 months. Walking around felt like going through most ethnic stores. This place was small and I gravitated towards the snack food (crackers, chips) and desserts (candy, treats) sections. It is all in Spanish but there are some helpful signs. Prices are marked but not consistently. If you are familiar with the Spanish language or Brazilian foods you should be fine. They also had staples like rice and beans, and some cooking appliances too. I saw beer coolers but never looked inside because it was pretty busy with about 10 people in a small store. They don't take credit cards and don't make that fact obvious on the door. In fact, they have a card reader but it wasn't on. They do take cash or Vimeo (I think that is what he called it). I can honestly say this is the best (and only) Brazilian supermarket I have ever been to!

We brought the tacos over to The Other One brewery next door (which they allow) and had a fantastic date night. The al pastor was delicious, we both found the barbacoa a little boring and I'd skip the guacamole entirely next time. However the house made tortillas and other bread goods are so soft and flavorful. We'll be back.

We all really enjoyed our meals. Most of us ordered the three taco combo (any three tacos on the menu) and a side of rice and beans! While the tacos are very simple, they are quite tasty. The carnitas pork taco is really tasty, especially with the pickled onions! Yum!! The steak tacos had good flavor, but there was definitely grizzle to be found in them! The chicken was great! All of their tacos are served in a double soft corn taco, which helps them stay together through every bite! Overall, the tacos here are truly authentic, full of Mexican flavors, and perfect to cure any taco craving! Now, the only thing they need is a liquor license to serve some delicious margaritas to wash down the tacos!! . Service was okay. They forgot silverware, so we sat for a bit unable to eat our rice and beans (or add them to the tacos, which is what I do). They also forgot two side of rice and beans, brought one after a reminder, but the final one was never received! We all left full and happy, so that's great! We will definitely go back again! PS. They have a full menu, much more than just tacos!! **We were so hungry that I forgot to take pictures!

If you're like me and can't live without a variety of Asian goodies like tea and crackers, your jaw is bound to drop at the sights as you walk in. Sure, the aisles are only wide enough for one person to walk through straight on, but that's a small concession for what's on offer here. Their produce section is surprisingly extensive, there's even a seafood section, and it looks like they've finally revamped the hot food next to the front entrance. The staff at checkout here are always quick and efficient, and I'm grateful they're such a decent Asian supermarket in the Capital District to complement the wonderful Kim's and Jang Tuh. They have their own parking lot and we have come close to not finding a parking space here, but there's a constant flow of people coming and going, so we've never actually not found parking.

And, a summer-long search for fresh okra, I found two different varieties; the proprietor explained that one is supposed to be less slimy than the other. The way you buy your meat here is to place an order through a window, which doesn't appeal to me because I like to see it first. Meat prices are also a bit high. But for other South Asian items this is going to be my go-to.

The first thing that you notice when you walk into Garofalo's is how great it smells: it's like getting hit in the face with a cinder block of glorious fucking awesomeness. It smells THAT good. I love it. I really don't think there's a single thing here that isn't fantastic. I'm especially in love with their smoked ribs. The stuffed pork chops are awesome. They make all sorts of phenomenal sausages. They also sell a variety of other things: various cheeses, meats, spices, canned tomatoes, olive oil and more. The staff at Garofalo's are great as well. They're very friendly. This place is obviously in the best hands. If you're not familiar with the area, it might be a little tricky to find because it's on a weird little road. There really isn't any parking (I normally walk here from my Schenectady office anyway), so the best place is to just park in the lot around the bend behind Perreca's and Cornell's. Garofalo's is well within walking distance from there. Garofalo's accepts credit cards, but there's a minimum amount (which is $15 if I recall correctly). Be warned: If you're going there today for the smoked ribs, you're SOL. I'm pretty sure I bought them out for the day. That's how I roll.
