They're open 24/7!!! We came in on a Saturday morning around 7:30am for a sweet breakfast. They also offer mochi donuts, croissant donuts/dossants and beverages like coffee and smoothie. The labels in the display case were not correct so we just pointed at the donuts that looked yummy lol. We tried the rainbow, s'mores dossant, berry glaze, Ferrero Rocher, Lotus/Biscoff, and flan. The dough for the raised donuts were soft and fluffy, loved it so much! The dossant had that crispy flaky edges and the inside soft! Service: Staff were kind and FRIENDLY lol Price: Fair Parking: Little parking lot, just enough when it gets busy Highly recommend!!! read more

NOT SO FRIENDLY DONUTS! We drove 25 minutes to try Friendly donuts. Well, the customer service was terrible! Not so friendly! We walked into an empty shop and the floor was so sticky. We tried to move but the floor was sticky everywhere. We tried to ignore the stickiness and ordered. The first young woman was kind and asked if we had questions, but then, a second young woman took over. She couldn't be bothered to tell us about the seasonal donuts even though we specifically asked about certain donuts in the case. She used the tongs she was using for the donuts to pull the seasonal donuts sign over to her on the counter so she could show us we could read it ourselves. Sign had greasy fingerprints on it! Gross! The woman simply would not answer any question without attitude. She piled up each donut we asked for on the counter and when we told her we didn't see one of the seasonal donuts we asked for, she held up a mochi donut we didn't ask for and said, IT IS RIGHT HERE (with attitude), and threw it back down with our donuts. We told her we wanted the seasonal cookie butter donut not the mochi and she said OKAY, IT'S THERE and threw the mochi back in the tray. We ordered 9 or 10 donuts and they were packaged in 3 small white pastry bags together. The two filled donuts were in clear boxes. She walked away without a word and the other woman walked up to the register. When we saw how they were packaged we asked if they had a box because we were taking them to someone. The woman who helped us grabbed a box with the same tongs and started making the box while complaining "they won't fit." We could see bigger boxes but this one was plenty big. She refused to put the two filled seasonal donuts in the box because "they wouldn't fit" and said they were too tall but dumped the three bags of donuts out on the counter, grabbed them with her still gloved hands from who knows how long and quickly threw the donuts in the box. She stacked the two clear boxes on top of the donut box and walked away. We were so frazzled by her RUDENESS we forgot a special request and had to stop at Donut Star for that one. Donut Star employee was nice and the donuts fresh. My daughter easily fit the 2 seasonal donuts in the box. There was at least 2" of space before the lid would touch the donuts. We will not be returning to Friendly Donuts anytime soon. read more

The young lady that was helping me was friendly and showed me their gluten free options, and I got 2 donuts - strawberry and maple - however, I was disappointed with them. It was dense and the frosting tasted too artificial and sweet for my liking. I only had a bite or two out of each one and had to toss them, and they weren't cheap either. Each gluten free donut was $4.25. My partner got a kolache and he said he liked it though. So for my gluten free people who aren't a fan of overly sweet donuts, this may not be your spot. read more

I'm not from the immediate area but was driving to get some dinner down the street. I was at the light when their "mochi donuts" sign caught my attention. No question about it, I just had to bust a u-turn for mochi donuts. It was definitely worth the stop. I really loved the chewy texture of the mochi donut. Aside from the mochi donuts, I was intrigued with their dossants (also known as cronuts) and ube donuts so I had to buy those too. In the end, the mochi donuts won me over. Good to know where I can grab some if I'm ever in the area again. Oh, and the guy behind the counter was indeed friendly. read more

Dossants (Cronuts) are delicious. I buy these for my friends and they can't believe how flaky and light these taste. The Mochi donuts are absolutely a favorite across Southern California. Friendly Donuts makes them with 7 new flavors each month. The ube ones are worth the drive there. If you need them right away or for a party, call them and they will have it ready. Friendly Donuts are becoming so much busier due to the creative new donuts and Mochi donuts. I have friends that come from Hawaii who will buy 20-30 to bring back to the islands. The people that work there are personable and greet me with open arms each time I walk in! Thank you! read more

Great service and great donuts!! A bit pricier than your average donut shop but well worth it because of the trendy desserts like mochi donuts, donut croissants, and interesting flavors like ube. I love a good ube donut but the ube mochi donut didn't have much ube flavor. I liked all the other donuts and I love the texture of the mochi donuts! The tres leches donut which was new was super good and interesting - never had that combination of filling and topping in another donut shop. I'm not one for sweets but these were delicious!!! My favorite was the strawberry and cream dossant. The campfire dossant was very very sweet, I opted out of the cream, but I think the cream would have made it better and balanced out the sweetness. They were kind of limited on the flavors of Mochi donuts, but I got the ube and the guava white chocolate and the guava was a pleasant surprise! It was sooo good! This was from a DoorDash order, but I had to make one more stop before I left back home and went in and the cashier was sooo friendly! I really enjoyed chatting with her about the holidays and hearing about how she got to spend some long over due time with her family. The shop it's self has a really awesome aesthetic, although they did have boxes everywhere, which if not there would be even nicer! Donuts were great! A bit pricer, but they really are gourmet donuts. Really recommend the mochi donuts - ube glaze was our favorite. The gauva fritter didn't really have a strong guava taste, not my favorite. The quality has just been so utterly consistent. These baked goods truly taste rustic and homemade; I believe the freshness is guaranteed and everything is baked daily. I always buy the shuku pan to make sandwiches my daily lunches and the country bread/sourdough for my avocado toast and breakfasts. The sandwiches made in-house are also recommended especially the chicken katsu and the assorted ham/tuna/egg salad. I like the croquette and egg salad in a bun especially. All of these are savory and flavorful yet subtle. I also recommend any of the pastries including curry pan, melon pan, and of course the strawberry croissants but beyond that I also really like the strawberry banana croissant and blueberry croissant. There is also a selection of drinks made in-house café-style as well as bottled Japanese drinks. The staff are friendly and I really like the space even though it's small. This place offers a dazzling array of creatively crafted donuts that are nothing short of extraordinary. From the playful Strawberry Shortcake creation to the nostalgic Fruit Loops and Fruity Pebbles adorned delights, every bite was a journey into culinary innovation. In particular, the Strawberry Matcha drink left an indelible mark on my taste buds. The delicate balance of the earthy matcha and the sweetness of fresh strawberries was simply sublime. Equally impressive was the Ube donut, which pleasantly surprised me with its restrained sweetness and unique flavor profile. Aside from the heavenly treats, the staff's warmth and helpfulness added to the overall positive experience. Their friendly demeanor and willingness to assist made my visit even more enjoyable. The ambiance of the place was equally enchanting. The cute and thoughtfully designed space created an inviting atmosphere that complemented the whimsy of the donut offerings. It felt like stepping into a world where creativity knows no bounds. In conclusion, if you're seeking a donut destination that goes beyond the ordinary and ventures into the realm of culinary artistry, this place is an absolute must-visit. With its innovative flavors, welcoming staff, and charming ambiance, it's a haven for both your taste buds and your Instagram feed. read more

Ok this review is long over due, how about 30 years over due! I have been coming here for 30 years! No lie, I swear! I used to live up in Cowan heights and would pass Friendly donuts up and down the hill several times a day. Unfortunately for me, fortunately for them I would stop by a few times a weeks d get my fix! They are simply the best donuts in Orange County after I moved about 6 years ago I don't frequent here as much because I simply don't go by here. Tonight I was in a desperate frenzy for a Apple Fritter. I called ahead of time because I didn't want to drive all the way across town Incase they were out. The kid who answers the phone was really friendly, hence friendly donuts and was have a great tome at work. I asked him if he had any apple fritters and if he could put one on hold for me he immediately said yes what is your name. I drove around town to pick up my apple fritter I was anxiously waiting for and when I got there there were three or four guys working there and I have never met a friendlier group of guys. They were so funny I didn't even want to leave . I ended up not only getting the apple fritter but a sugar twist and a cinnamon roll too. I want to give a shout out and kudos to all the employees at friendly donuts. Thanks for making my night . read more

Mochi and donuts combined? Oh, it should be a match made in heaven, but not so much for me. Located at the corner of Hewes and Chapman, Friendly Donuts is one of those mom-and-pop places that are liberally sprinkled through the OC. Everything about this spot is just lovely. Lots of parking, spotless shop and, as advertised, a friendly staff. Note: I would bring cash since there is a surcharge for credit purchases. If you are hanging out at home in your jammies and don't want to get in the car for your sugary sweet donut fix, then you can order through Grubhub. Overall the donuts were just OK. I got three mochi donuts and a regular donut for comparison. They also have cronuts, but I've never been a fan of those. The regular donut was just your basic donut, and if someone brought a box of them to work I wouldn't say no. The mochi donuts were just... meh! I can't say that I would partake of those again. That being said, I think this spot is definitely worth a visit. They have an amazing variety of donuts from fancy, over-the-top, to just your basic regular donut. read more

Well Friendly Donuts is the best donuts in town I've seen cops from other cities and stop and get there donuts and coffee. When i went in the afternoon and when I ask them how old was there coffee? they said 2 hours old but they said we can make you a new pot of coffee for me I was really happy with my fresh coffee and donuts. They open 24 hours and they have a spot for day old donuts there from yesterday and there half price and they are still tasty too. The donut shop is own my a Asian Family they have 3 sons from 10-18 help there parents at the shop and they love working there and when I see kids helping there parents I always want to come back to that shop. When I get a donut they sometimes always give you free donuts. There always clean with there tables and cream for your coffee is cold. The donuts prices are from 75 cent - $1.75. There ham and cheese croissants are the most wonderful thing ever there ham and cheese are loaded with ham and cheese which i love. BEST DONUTS IN TOWN YOU MUST GET. My wife and I hadn't eaten a donut in months. It was late Saturday afternoon and we suddenly had a yen for one. I went on google to find a place that would be open on Saturday evening and had good reviews. I actually drove 15 miles to this place. They didn't have many cake donuts left to choose from so I just selected a dozen variety, bear claws, a couple of cake, glaze, only one maple bar left, a couple of the cream filled canoles. I must say, they were all terrible. On top of that, I was charged .75 for using a credit card. My total bill was $19.75. I could have gotten better tasting donuts down the street from our house (if there were open) for around $5-6 a dozen. Unfortunately, my trip to Friendly donuts was a waste of time and money...! read more

We ordered custom donuts for my daughter's 7th birthday party and were very pleased with our experience working with Friendly Donuts! We happened to meet Allen/Alan(?) during our first visit there and he treated my daughter like a VIP. He told her that they could work together to make the perfect donuts for her friends, even offering to let her submit drawings of what she had in mind. So she did just that. Her drawings were sent over and we received a very thorough and quick reply interpreting exactly what could be made to meet her expectations. Upon delivery, we had another pleasant exchange with the staff and my daughter was so proud to show off her "custom designed donuts" at her party! Thank you, Friendly Donuts! read more

"I'm so glad I stumbled upon Friendly Donut in Orange, CA! This hidden gem is a must-visit for donut lovers. The staff is incredibly friendly (as the name suggests!) and welcoming. The donuts are freshly made throughout the day, and the variety is impressive. I tried the blue berry glazed, ube mochi, and French vanilla donuts, and all were soft, fluffy, and utterly delicious. The prices are very reasonable, too! The shop itself is cozy and clean, with a warm atmosphere that makes you want to linger over your treats. I've already recommended Friendly Donut to friends and family, and I'll definitely be back for more. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by - your taste buds will thank you!" read more

By far my favorite donut place! They are open 24/7 and I can here late at night with my boyfriend and the outside area threw me off because it looked a little sketchy but once we went in we were so surprised by the amount of assortment they had regarding donuts and desserts. They had an unbelievable amount of flavors as well as mochi donuts, macaroons and cronuts. The male who helped us with our order was one of the friendliest guys I've ever met. He recommended us customers favorites, his favorites and didn't hesitate to provide us with anything we needed. After we paid we saw that he gave us another 2 free donuts. I am so happy I decided to try this place as I will definitely be coming back!! read more

Had an ube donut with blueberry glaze for $1.65 (what a rip off). The blueberry on the donut was all shriveled up and looked like it was a week old, so I threw it away because I didn't want to get sick. The donut also had red specks in it??? The donut didn't taste like ube at all, it just tasted like a regular plain cake donut. The donut itself was okay, but to me it just looks like they put purple food coloring in the dough to make it purple and over charge you for it. You're better off just ordering a plain donut with blueberry glaze. I thought the ube donut from DK's in Tustin was better, but neither one of them tasted like ube. I won't be coming back to this unfriendly place. read more

Wow, I am truly impressed by this donut shop! The variety of flavors here made it so hard to decide which one I wanted to try. This time, I chose the Ube Crossiant Wheel and Banana pudding, but I will definitely be coming back to try their other flavors as well as their mochinuts. Biting into both of these donuts felt like a party in my mouth. The crossiant wheel had the perfect amount of crisp, filling, and sweetness. The banana pudding was so fluffy and creamy. Overall, this donut shop deserves more hype and tops other donut shops I've been to and I have no complaints.
