Their empanadas are delicious! They're generously sized, filling, and definitely worth the price. They're even better when paired with their chimichurri sauce which adds so much flavor and complements the empanadas perfectly. Sadly when we ordered takeout, it seemed like the lid on the chimichurri container may have softened from the heat of the fresh empanadas or the hot weather, causing it to spill all over the empanadas. We still enjoyed the food, but it might be something to keep in mind when packaging takeout orders. The service is great and the ambiance is casual with plenty of seating both inside and outside. Overall, we'd happily order their empanadas again!

Five year update ~ Patagonia is still going strong! The place has had some remodeling done. The inside has been rearranged but still has the welcoming vibe of sturdy woods and European charm. There is a patio out front with a covered canopy and café seating. The owners are still always present and welcoming their clients, both new and returning loyals. Empanadas as still excellent quality and the imported sweets and home made pastries are all delicious. Happy to be returning again and again :)

Haven't visit since the pandemic. We preordered 3 dozen empanadas for a work lunch. The empanadas are delicious and I was shocked the Arab empanada was my favorite. It is nice to support small local businesses. The owners are nice and welcoming. Service is gracious and fast. It's located in a strip mall and it feels like a typical South American Cafe you might run into either in BAires or Panama. There's an outdoor covered patio as well

Got a Beef and also a Chicken Empanada. Both were tasty. The dough was soft with crunchy edges. The filling was well seasoned and juicy. I tried both with the Chimichurri. However, I enjoyed them better as plain. I ended up liking the chicken better than the beef. Service was very friendly and prompt. No issues on parking.

The empanadas here are perfect! So flavorful and well seasoned. They are stuffed well and baked nicely. I highly recommend!

Came here last night with my husband. We have been here plenty of times before for the delicious empanadas. But tonight we came and decided we were going to try something else . So we ordered the spicy sausage pasta and the prosciutto pizza. The pasta was in a pink sauce , it was very tasty not spicy at all . The pizza was very different . The crust is thick and crispy and it didn't have to much cheese then it's topped with arugula and lots of prosciutto. It was a great dinner and the girls working were very nice . They recently added outside sitting, even though last night was too cold and windy to sit outside. Oh and they have delicious desserts! I bought the delicious bread pudding,it's so good with a taste of orange and raisins and they top it off with dulce de leche and a delicious syrup. Great place.

I only got pizza because I seen a sign that said buy one get one free and thought why not try. While the dough was nice and soft the pizza overall was mid. Very heavy on cheese. The dough was too thick, the cheese was too thick, yet there was barely any sauce. Over all I paid $17 for two pizzas and I guess I can say you get what you pay for. If you're low on cash but want some pizza this place will do the trick. But if you're looking for something super good this is not. I would say it gives Pizza Hut

Came here with my family and had a really good experience overall. They had a buy-one-get-one free deal on large pizzas, which was a great bonus. We ordered the Fugazzeta and a pepperoni pizza--both were delicious, especially the Fugazzeta. We also tried the gnocchi and milanesa napolitana with Russian salad, and everything was flavorful and satisfying. The owner was super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Before leaving, we grabbed desserts: bread pudding with dulce de leche, a dulce de leche cannoli, and alfajores--all really good. Only downside: I later noticed the receipt showed two chocolate volcano desserts instead of the alfajores I actually got. Not sure if it was a mistake or mix-up, but worth double-checking your receipt. Overall, great food, great vibes, and I'd definitely come back.

Stopped by for a quite bite and service was pretty fast! I liked the spinach cheese empanada and the beef one. I wish the spicy chicken was not as dry but overall yummy empanadas!

My friend suggested to try this empanada place so we stopped by here after hiking on a Saturday. There were a few customers sitting at the patio tables and there were also some tables indoors. Saw sign outside the restaurant that it had the best pizzas so I'd definitely want to try next time. I decided to try the chipotle beef empanada. Took a few minutes to cook and it came with chimichurri sauce. It was definitely bigger than expected as my friend kept saying that it's small. I poured the entire container of chimichurri sauce inside the empanada and it was good! Although it kind of overpowered the spicy beef taste so next time maybe I try first without the sauce.

Patagonia Empanadas is a cute little hole in the wall find. You don't see many places like these anymore. We ordered several items to try- 2 beef empanadas, 2 spinach and cheese empanadas, a chicken milanesa with fries, super lomo sandwich, Buenos Aires lomito sandwich, and alfojor covered in chocolate. Our favorites were the sandwiches. The og Buenos Aires lomito consisted of ribeye, lettuce, tomatoes and mayo. My husband said it reminded him of the lomitos he got in Argentina except there, the ribeye steak was much more thick and of course the sandwiches were cheaper. However despite that, my husband said the flavor was the same and it brought back memories. We also enjoyed the super lomo which is essentially the same as the og except with added pancetta, cheese, and fried egg. The empanadas were okay even though it's in the namesake. They were on the dryer end. The chicken milenesa was delicious, tender, and crispy. The alfajor, which is two shortbread cookies with dulce de leche sandwiched in between, was covered in chocolate and sinfully decadent. We will definitely come back if we're in the area. I would try more desserts and I'd probably get the lomito again.

What an amazing hole in the wall cafe that serves a selection of very unique empanadas. They also have a selection of Italian and Argentine food along with pastries and coffee. I just ran in for a coffee and discovered an unexpected culinary universe. The coffee was good, a nice medium roast latte. My friend kept on saying, we have to come back here to celebrate someone's birthday.... He really liked the menu here and the pastries. Parking is tight. I actually walked over from the adjacent center. Casual. Indoor and outdoor seating. Please come and create your own adventure.

Does this place offer a mix assortment price for the empanadas? Wondering if it would be possible to order as a dozen since all the choices look great and difficult to choose.

You can order by the piece. But I don't recall seeing a discounted price by the dozen if that's what you meant.

Its been a while since I've been here. Do they still have an option where they sort of half bake them and you finish it off at home? How does that work?

The market is easy to spot with a big street sign out front. There are only two parking spots in front, one is a handicapped space. There's plenty of parking around the back though. When you walk in, you will see the main market with lots of items and brands I've never seen before. Slightly to the right is their deli counter with lots of meats, cheeses, and other miscellaneous items. To the right of the entrance is a dining area, and another counter where you can order sandwiches, empanadas, pizza, French fries, and drinks. I was laser focused on getting the chimichurri and leaving since I was short on time. It is in plastic bottles in plain view on on top of the deli counter. I purchased the regular variety, but they also have a spicy version. I could already tell this was going to be way better than the other two sauces I tried. I've had it on a steak, and on my breakfast scrambled eggs, and it's in a whole different league from the grocery versions I tried. It looks just like a restaurant chimichurri, oil based with lots of herbs and spices. I just had a nice filet mignon with chimichurri at a good Argentinan restaurant last week, and this chimichurri is about 90% as good. I moved it from the plastic bottle it comes in to a glass jar which will hopefully help preserve it longer, and store it in the refrigerator. I now have no reason to look elsewhere for chimichurri. My friend visits here periodically and says the sandwiches are excellent. I'll have to return again to try one, get more chimichurri, and explore the market and deli to see what other goodies they have.

Worth the Drive from the South Bay…read more Another Eat the World LA find -- and one of my favorite discoveries for Argentinian food! I will literally drive all the way from the South Bay to Santa Ana for the empanadas at Puerto Madero Argentinian Market & Bakery. As someone who is half Argentinian, I'm pretty particular about Argentinian food, and especially empanadas and chimichurri. I criticize almost every chimichurri I try at restaurants that serve it. These empanadas are baked, not fried, generously stuffed, flavorful, and incredibly well-priced for the quality and portion. They don't skimp on the filling -- the empanadas are thick and packed with protein, which makes them feel like an actual meal rather than mostly pastry. And the chimichurri is one of the most authentic I've found. That alone is worth talking about! I've picked up empanadas to bring to all kinds of people, and they consistently get the same reaction. My mom, who is Argentinian-born, loves them. My best friend's family, who is fully Argentinian, praises them. Even my Mexican grandmother has declared them some of the best empanadas she's had. That's a pretty impressive range of approval. I've walked in and ordered a dozen on the spot, placed orders for dozens ahead of time, and also tried other items like the Choripán and beef Milanesa sandwich. Everything has been consistently delicious. Whether I'm grabbing a few for myself, ordering a dozen for family, or bringing a big batch to share, Puerto Madero never disappoints. For me, this is absolutely one of those places where the drive from the South Bay to Santa Ana is completely worth it. The meat was very simply prepared and had almost no flavor. At that price, I expected much more from the dish. With the food, two waters and a vodka soda, the bill was around $64 before tip and close to $80 after tip. Unfortunately, I just didn't feel like I got a meal worth that price. QUICK BIO "The original Orange County Argentine food truck since November 2009, Piaggio's Chimichurri Truck has been serving empanadas, skirt steak tacos, chimichurri, sausage, and milanesa sandwiches, skirt steak and chimi fries, and dulce de leche to the public. It started with the empanada and is now the iconic item of Piaggio's food truck. Piaggio thrives in fusing his Argentine roots with the food culture of his adopted land. The result is that Piaggio Gaucho On Wheels is delighting fans with taco, burrito and quesadilla creations, as well as introducing them to the lomito sandwich, the choripan made with traditional Argentine sausage, the chicken milanesa sandwich, his ever-so popular version of pulled pork, and the addicting chimichurri sauce. The fries albeit skinnier than I liked had a crispy outside and moist inside. The meat was good but definitely needed more of it spread around evenly and better shopped as you ended-up eating big chunks of it at a time unless you shredded it yourself. It certainly could've used more chimichurri as well as the dijonnaise/chipotle sauce as there was far too much exposed fries that had nothing on them, so I squirted Sriracha sauces all over. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Your standard self-sufficient food truck with exterior menus https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=edvR59EwXeIxwteTEMJztA&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw, order and pick up windows, an area for condiments, napkins, and utensils, no designated seating area, and natural lighting was prevalent during the daytime while electric street and truck lighting glowed at night. There were no TVs nor background music https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=LWAGbg9dGSwRuhMAmutsGQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. In addition, the prices were just a tad high (if they were rolled back $1.00-$2.00, that would be better for what you got). I found fairly good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $14.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 3.5 STARS

Piaggio Gaucho On Wheels - "Skirt Steak over Chimi Fries" are $16. I would say it's an absolute rip-off, but try them if you think it's worth it.
