They brought up a couple of concerns that i knew about already and didn't try and force the repair down your throat like so many others. The staff and service at Friendly Auto Centers are fantastic! Not only did they do a fantastic job on our vehicle but when they were getting me quotes on what the repairs would be they were detailed on what needed to be done and why they felt it was needed and I never felt any pressure that I had to do something or it was going to be a big problem. On top of that, after I received the quote I got a phone call back from Manny 2 minutes letter and he apologized and told me he had not put in an extra part that was not part of the original quote and added it in and asked if this was still ok to proceed with the repair. So overall I had a great experience! The staff was honest, reliable, and my car is running fantastic! Not to mention that all of their parts have a lifetime warranty! After my Dad died, I drove his truck back home from Missouri because I desperately wanted to keep it. I didn't need it, I don't drive it much, it's an extra car payment and insurance premium, and I won't even talk about what a gas guzzler it is but it's his, so I need it. Getting this ol truck registered in AZ has been quite a journey. It's taken 4 trips to the DMV, two trips to get emissions tested, a LOT of money, documents over nighted, a dedicated, helpful mechanic and many, many tears. Finally this morning I was able to get it registered. I can not thank Mike and the guys at Friendly Auto Centers enough for all of their help with this because without them, this wouldn't have happened. My husband and I had to go back over to the shop collectively 6-7 times but we finally got it through emissions without costing even more money. After leaving the DMV this morning I went directly to the shop to take them donuts as a thank you. Just a small gesture but what they did for me was huge. I will be back for sure. Excellent - Honest service. I went for an alignment on my 1-ton truck. Steve discovered my steering box that had just been installed by another shop was on improperly. My AC belt broke on my 2005 Avalanche. I really hate working on vehicles but decided I could probably do this myself, but realized I was missing a needed tool. A mechanic I've gone to in the past wasn't open on Saturday's and others I called were only open a few hours and were booked up. Yelp is my #1 go to for services, food and it never has failed my wife and I yet. This time was no exception, I saw Friendly Auto got good reviews and was open till 2 on Saturdays and called them. The owner Steve answered the phone, I told him my plight and he told me we can do it for you. I had the new belt so he told me to pull up to the door, and had a mechanic replace while I waited. So now let me tell you about the waiting room. It's like walking into a living room/waiting room. Soft lights with lamps, large flat screen, movie style popcorn Machine, Keurig machine for coffee or tea and bagels with cream cheese and comfy chairs! To top it off he gave me a fabulous first time customer deal! I feel very comfortable with the place to send my wife and thought the service was outstanding, we will be back! read more

I took my Mazda 6 here to get my shocks/struts replaced, an alignment, and an oil change on a friend's recommendation. Since these were the most expensive repairs I've taken my car to a shop for, I was a little nervous until I met Steve, Doug, and Mike. They were very laid back, and made me comfortable with leaving my car in their hands. What really sold me is when I asked about a service that would have cost around $130, and Steve recommended a $20 alternative. They also saved me over a hundred dollars on my final bill. Mike even picked me up in the morning and took me to my car, to make sure I had it in time. I drove from south Tempe to see them, and I'll make the drive again anytime I need anything done to my car. I guess I'm an exception in my experience. I brought my Toyota Avalon in for an alignment appointment, but asked them when I got there if 1) they could make sure it even needed an alignment and 2) if they could also check my a/c because it didn't seem to be blowing out much air on my way there. A woman at the front desk took the info and nothing was said about there being a charge for either of those. After waiting for awhile, the owner told me that the a/c had a faulty blower motor and it would cost $675 to get it fixed. I knew that wasn't in my budget so I declined the service. In the meantime, I asked if they had done the alignment check yet and he told me that I would have to wait because someone was already using the machine(?) (even though I had a scheduled appointment) and that it would cost me 69.99 for that. I told the owner that I had purchased a groupon for the actual alignment which was only $49 so it wouldn't make sense to pay $20 more just for them to check it. Since I had to wait until the machine(?) was freed up, I told him that I would have to come back another time because I had another appointment later that morning that I couldn't miss. When I went to leave, the owner told me that I had a charge of 69.99 for "checking" the a/c even though they didn't do any work on it. Again, nothing was ever said about there being a charge for that until it was time to leave!!! Interestingly enough, the a/c has worked just fine ever since that day and I haven't done a thing to it, so obviously a faulty blower motor was never the problem. Even though I was not very happy about paying $69.99 without getting anything fixed, I was thrilled beyond belief that I didn't give them $675 for something that wasn't even broken!!! read more

This time I had a major repair done where the Check Engine Light was on due to bad repair done by Fletcher's. He was very honest but forgot to tell me that the repair was not able to be done that day since I didn't return his call on time to allow him to complete the repair so he secured my car in this shop..That said, my badge was locked inside of his shop..Called him on the number on the door as well as emergency towing and failed to reach him..Thanks to Yelp messaging service which shot notes to him as well as his competitor and told him about the story. He immediately went and call me back and got my badge so I can work..He recognized me and apologized for what happened..Yelp also sent the messages to many competitors so I got slew of calls from others so I realized that there are many responsible owners out there..Kudo to Steve and mostly thanks to Yelp to let it happened. He also paid for my Friend's Lyft ride since I was out of town to pick up the car..Thank you for going above and beyond to make your customer happy. This would have negative stars if that was an option. First off when you ask for dexos oil and pay $40, most of the time you get the same regular conventional oil that they give you when you pay $17.95. Secondly don't ask for washer fluid because it is just faucet water and a blue TOILET TAB, Not approved washer fluid concentrate. You get overcharged for the parts you order. Ask what brand of oil they give out and it changes every time. First it's valvoline then its castrol. All in all this place is a scam and so is the owner. I highly recommend staying away! read more

This place is a rip off! We took our car there for an ESTIMATE for the AC unit! When they called about the car, they said it was done and the charge was $89. We never gave them permission to "fix" anything, and on top of that, they didn't even "fix" the problem. They just put in a can of coolant with dye in it. A can of coolant for $89??? Right. I've never gone to an auto center where they just did whatever they wanted to the car without first calling or asking if they could "fix" whatever the problem was and how much it would be. Bad service, and the owner raves about how they don't rip people off and they are trustworthy. No. They are not. read more

OMG...I HAVE to brag about Friendly Auto Center! I was having a problem with my transmission and was afraid to take my vehicke in for a repair. For one thing, I'm female, so the fear of being ripped off is high since i know nothing about car repair; and secondly, my vehicle is older than 5 years, past its warranty period, so I dreaded a big repair bill. I called on my way into work in the morning and Steve told me to bring it in right then! Since I can't live without a car, FAC hooked me up with an awesome rental for about 30% off the normal rate, and then called me a few hours later to inform me what the problem was AND that they had already called the dealership and found out it was covered by an extended warranty I didn't even realize I had! Badda bing Badda boom! They even gave me the dealership ' s phone number and a contact name! No charge. ..even though FAC added transmission fluid to get me to the dealer. The icing on the cake? The next day, when the repair was finished, I was even able to return my rental right there at the dealership when I went to pick up my car! Now THAT'S friendly AND trustworthy auto service...thanks Steve and Mike! read more

We have had our cars serviced here before. We were happy with our service and the guys were super nice. We received a coupon in the mail for a free oil change called welcome to the neighborhood. When we called to schedule an appointment I was placed on hold for a long time. When the man came back to the phone he was rude. He told me it would take 2 weeks before he could fit me in for an oil change! When the day finally came to take our car in they weren't friendly at all. When I went back to pick my car up I received no paperwork, so I have no idea if I really got an oil change or not. Several people in line ahead of me paying for their services were offered free gifts but I was overlooked, they didn't even look me in the eye. I was handed my car keys and the guy tells me, you're free to go......I'll never go back. read more

Wow this place is awesome .. so happy i found them on groupon. I drove all the way from scottsdale to get an oil change on my new jeep... not only did they take great care of me and service my jeep w a synthetic blend which isnt cheap but told me i need to take it to the dealership because its brand new and under warranty still and there is a leak somewhere from the engine... turns out today i found out it was a gasket and my oil filter cooling.. to make a long story short the manger w the new york accent deserves 5 stars for his awesome customer service. On the recommendation of my father I took my 2011 Equinox to Friendly Auto Center after it overheated. After they diagnosed the problem they informed me that they found a dealer service recall (my warranty expired) for the part that was broken. For a small diagnostic fee and towing I got the problem fixed FREE. 20 minutes after picking my car up from the dealership the check engine light went back on. The dealer diagnosed the problem and told me it was not at all related to the previous fix so the total would be around $700. I declined their service to take it back to Friendly's. I got a call soon after from Steve the owner and he informed me that in order to complete the previous work the "newly broken" part needed to be removed and that this was a problem caused by the dealer. He recommended that I call and speak to a service manager and gave me terms to use to sound knowledgeable. I called the dealership and within 10 minutes the service manager agreed to not only fix my car for FREE but he agreed to pay have it towed from Friendly's to to the dealership. Steve was nothing but thrilled to hear that they agreed to fix their mistake. I would have never known about the service recall or the process that broke the second part. Due to Friendly Auto Center's selflessness I got 2 parts fixed by the dealership for FREE when I very easily could have paid over $1,000 in repairs. Amazing experience with them and I won't go anywhere else. read more
