I just had my transmission on my 2004 Buick Lesabre rebuilt at KB's. It took longer than I had hoped but I did tell them I had other transportation so a quick turn around wasn't important. It's a real deal mom n pop repair shop & I can appreciate their getting behind on a job so I wanted them to know I wasn't gonna rush them or hover over them. When I picked the car up it ran a little rough. No problem, the owner said bring it back & they will check it out. They fixed the issue & I did have to pay for the needed parts but no Labor. I always judge a business more on how they respond to & take care of issues AFTER your initial service or repair, and they get two THUMBS UP for that. They are sometimes unable to answer the phone so be patient if you need to talk to anyone. But April is awesome when you do get to speak to her & Ken the owner is very hands on with every aspect of his business. My overall experience was great! I am giving 3 stars. We stopped by on a Saturday to ask about having a clutch replaced. Hubby spoje to Paul, ge was very knowledgeable and friendly. We were shopping around and getting multiple quotes. Quotes ranged from 415.00. To 1100.00. We decided on KB. Dropped off the 96 Ford Ranger on a Tuesday at 4 and it was ready by Thursday at 4. Here is why I gave 3 stars and not 4 or 5. Hubby drove truck to work on Friday. He noticed a small puddle of fluid on driveway and then again under truck at work parking garage. He called the shop and spoke to Ollie. This individual sorta ( blew) him off and states it was a gasket leak. My hubby knows this is not the cause. He took truck back to shop Friday and Paul took a look and agreed with hubby. They kept truck to make corrections. Paul is a good guy and Kenny is an upstanding owner. They also sent the transmission to another shop cus they don't know how to work on "Japanese transmissions" and never kept me on the loop and it took 2 months just for that. Brother Spent 6k for this place to do an engine swap and place took the tranny out of the car, took parts off the car, jerked him around for over a month, brother then went to go pick up his car to take some where else, the owner (Kenny Burns) then tried to physically fight him and keep his parts and wanted him to pay an additional 3k in order to get his parts with out his car being fixed.. Did I fail to mention - Police also had to get involved to control this animal..! highly recommend do not even look at this "shop's" direction or else you will become their next victim.. read more

Seriously, read this review. I really wish I could just have my money back and then take my car to someone who can actually rebuild my transmission. Brought my car in November. Took 8 weeks to have them look at it and have it diagnosed with the explanation of my problem being "it's internal". I gave them the benefit of the doubt and opted to have it rebuilt, since I was expecting to need it. It took an additional 2.5 months to have them rebuild it. Upon receiving my car mid February, it was not fixed. It took 2-4 seconds to go into reverse/3rd gear and the transmission shook while driving in reverse. I brought it back the next morning and had Kenny look at it. Kenny admitted to the problem and told me to drive it and bring it back Monday if the problem persisted. I did bring it back that Monday. Kenny told me that AS SOON as there was a lift available, my car would be fixed (this is important). Not to mention, the transmission was also SIGNIFICANTLY overfilled. Like 1.5 inches above the hot full line. This was verified by Kenny and his technician. They siphoned the fluid, after making me wait for like 20 minutes while I sat outside the garage bays with my car running. It took over 3 months to have the service on my car STARTED, despite the owner Kenny telling my my vehicle would be worked on as soon as possible when I dropped it off again in February. I know they did not work on it for 3 months because I would check on it periodically after hours. When I brought my car back in for the immediate return to service, brad put me right in the back of the line for service. When I asked him 3 months later if that's what he did, he tried to avoid telling me he did so. But after few questions, it was clear that was what they did. There is no reason to put me in the back of the line for the second time, making me wait even longer, when it was never fixed. Since I had paid after receiving my car the first time, my warranty started in mid February. When I questioned if my warranty would be renewed when I receive my car back and fixed, brad said no and said that's not how it is done. He considered my vehicle now as warranty-work. This is ridiculous considering my vehicle was never fixed in the first place. Brad has a huge attitude when you question him (even if you speak to him respectfully). It seems like he can't handle customer service and he definitely should not be up front speaking with all of the customers and answering phones. My vehicle was there for over 6 months without any communication from KB. I would call every 3-4 weeks and each time I called, brad would brush me off and try his best to get off the phone call with me as soon as possible by telling me the vehicle would be worked on soon (it wouldn't). I don't think I ever had a call longer than 45 seconds with him. Pod lights were stolen off my vehicle and nobody at KB showed any concern for it or offered any reimbursement to replace them. They were pretty much like, "dang, that sucks" and then ignored me. They claim that they have no responsibility for damaged vehicles in their lot. There is also no security (no cameras, fencing, anything) in the lot as well. Every time I call, brad will tell me that they will work on the vehicle and it'll be done in x amount of days. All he does is lie to you and give you false promises. Pros: Pricing is ok Warranty is good Cons: Communication; received ZERO communication Rushed work; car wasn't fixed right the first time, or the second time. Left grease marks all over my paint and interior that I had to clean up Parts of my car were stolen on their property Customer service up front is little to none. (Kenny has decent customer service I suppose nobody else). Professionalism Management They will lie to you. They'll start working on your car to get you to stop bothering them, then move the car back to the lot to sit for weeks on end without doing a thing to it. They admitted that they accepted my car despite being 50+ cars behind with ONE technician. I was never told that they were so behind nor that it would take months to have my car worked on. When I first brought it in, I was told that it would be looked at THAT day. Every time you call and ask to speak to Kenny, Kenny would be "gone" with no explanation. Kenny was gone even though I had just left the shop and spoke to him 5 minutes prior. A normal shop will give you a quote on time and be somewhat accurate. A normal shop will communicate with you and tell you if it's taking longer than expected. A normal shop gets things done within 6 freaking months. A normal shop will not accept more work than they can handle and lie to you. BONUS: My car still has issues. The transmission will not move in drive or reverse intermittently unless you rev it really high for about 10 seconds. I would take it back to them, but I'd like to have a car for the next 6-8 months. Use crap quality parts on a "Top Quality" build. Did damage to my truck and never mentioned it prior to drop off and then later admitting and paying me months for $40 bucks after I had to buy a valance ($80) and had to repaint it ($100) fog light ($40) and Hid kit that was ripped off, ($80) then having to get the carpet detailed due to employee spilling SODA and leaving it there to crystal up and stink!!!! Then having to replace and pull 6 transmissions on a build that i stated I didnt want to do this job again on the first one. Even handed him an open wallet to the cost of the build with no expense to spare and he said no this will be fine. Never will recommend or mention this company unless it is to deter people away from it. Pictures are from a new build from his that only had 5 miles on after he gave it back. Had transmission rebuilt there and told them 3 times it was not right. they insisted it was and it let me stranded in Tucumcari N.M... I had to buy a new transmission and NOW THEY REFUSE TO WARRANTY THEIR WORK ! they used black silicone to seal the dip stick and use the wring bold (after I told them it was loose) for the dip stick tube. when I brought that up to them they said that was nit picking.. I told them being in business that the little things separate a professional from a hack shop. He got mad and told me to leave. SO I guess they are that type shop ! All I wanted was the money the took from me back BUT now I will need replacement money and the time I was stuck in the motel ! I gave them 3 chances to get it right and they did not ! read more

Definitely recommend this shop!! Very knowledgeable. No BS, up front and great customer service. I brought my lifted Chevy into this shop with a suspected transfer case problem. Kenny took a look and found that it was not my transfer case, but my drive shaft rubbing onto my crossmember. He gave me the option to repair the problem. And they did! No more rubbing and topped of my fluids. I went to 3 other shops for prices and was given quotes for 7500-9000 with no other options just a bill for the ridiculous estimates. Can't belive your still in business. Took vehicle in running concernd about mileage had high mileage on transmission getting ready to go on road trip didn't wanted to have any problems or get stranded so had KB TRANSMISSIONS overhaul transmission COST $2000.00 (remind you vehicle was running fine just concernd of mileage getting ready to go on road trip) So had to postpone road trip for a few months To recoup money that I had just spent on transmission. So 2 months amonths go by training goes completely out out they pick it up take it in for warranty repair vehicle get it back it's it back transmission goes out again it's out again they took back to their shop they do another repair get it back Goes out again Said they had some defective parts that they had purchased not realizing they were bad So fixed it again got it back And transmission goes out again this time they said it was because of the transmission cooler, (Remind you again it was running when I took it in Had no issues was just concerned about the high mileage on transmission) And and when I went to pick it up they handed me a bill for 375.00 and I said what's this for they said they Put a transmission cooler on and I replied no one called or mentioned anything to me about installing a cooler it was here for warranty work I replied No one called me from KB TRANSMISSIONS to let me know they were installing a transmission cooler and will have to pay for parts and labor so I refused to pay I said you should have called me before installing parts especially if it's not covered under my warranty so I refused to pay we went rounds they refused to give me my keys back unless I paid I said should have called me before Doing any other work besides warranty work So finally they gave me my keys back and the transmission went out again and they refused warranty work because they said I refuse to pay for the transmission cooler Pretty shady if you ask me for someone that does transmissions and I had to take it back 6 times within a year something's not right thank you guys for taking my money and ruining my vehicle . read more

I happened to be in the area so I stopped by and told them everything I needed. Kevin and Kenny were extremely helpful! They ordered the parts and the synthetic oil made specifically for my car on Thursday and were able to service my car by Monday. When I went in, they were extremely busy but got me in and out with everything taken care of in about 45 minutes. During my 45 minute wait, I was able to see the incredible customer service to what seemed to be repeat clients. Never ever get your transmission repaired by this company!!!!! Their business ethics sucks. Kenny and his team did POOR job rebuilding my transmission the 1st time. Then when I told them it was not built correctly, Kenny told me he would rework on it according to warranty. I told him I am not going to pay him the remainder of the balance I owed him until I can test drive it and make sure my transmission was fixed 100%. Next thing I know I went to pick up my car and the ENTIRE transmission was MISSING. He STOLE my transmission and removed other parts from my car. This guy is scandalous. And now I have to take him to court just to get my money from him. read more

I went to KB around 20 years ago and had a transmission rebuilt for me and they did a great job for me and bent over backwards to accommodate me with rides home etc. The price was much better than most and Kenny seemed very capable so when I had a problem with my current truck I thought of them and sure enough they are still in business. So, I took the truck to KB and they did a diag and were able to fix the problem with just a solenoid and trany flush and filter for just a few hundred bucks when I thought I might be in for a full tranny rebuild. It will keep me going for hopefully another 40k miles. Bottom line, Kenny and Frank were honest and did a great job in a timely manner for a great price. Trust is everything when it comes to auto repair. After 20 years I've found Kenny and KB Transmission to be trustworthy and capable. Recommend to all! read more

At first I was so happy to work with KB. Took my car to them in late 2011 and spent just under $2000 for what I thought was a re-built transmission. Last month, it lost the upper gears and reverse and I took the car back hoping it was under warranty. They would not help in any way - nothing. They said it was "repaired" not "rebuilt" so I'm out $2000 and they wanted $4500 to rebuild it. REALLY REALLY awful customer service. I'm a local resident who lives not far from their business. This mechanic shop is terrible. We took out vehicle to have the motor rebuilt and a few months later it broke down, we took it back to the shop since it was still under warranty. They took 2 weeks to diagnose the problem. Used parts where used the first time. We asked to make sure new parts would be used the second time the motor gets rebuilt. It took over a month for us to get our vehicle back. In the meantime we where left struggling with only one vehicle. When they finally called us the vehicle was done. They charged us for the new oil and fluids that where put in. We where never informed of that. We have had the vehicle for a couple of hours and have noticed that it is leaking oil. He refuses to look at the vehicle aigain. read more

It appears that since the last 3 reviews service has gone by the way side. I went there based on the reviews and the service both customer and vehicle was the worst ever. I took the car into get an oil leak fixed. I realized it might be the rear main seal and possibly the seal in the transmission. I expected the worst. They gave me a quote and I scheduled the work. I took it in on Weds early AM (0600) and was told it might be Thursday, I was ok with that. I did not hear on Weds so I assumed late Thursday. I called Thursday and they said Friday. I called Friday and they said Sat. I called Sat and they guy had no idea. During these exchanges, I was informed the driver's side valve cover was leaking so I agreed to have that repaired, since they had it apart. Just a side not they only did one side and now the other side is leaking. To make a long story short. . I did not get it back until closing on Monday and I had to call them each time. They did compensate me for a day's car rental for the inconvenience. I got the bill paid, left due to the counter man was in a hurry to leave for the day, and did not have time for me to review. When I reviewed the invoice, it was just a scope summary amount and not detailed as to what was specifically done. I called to question the high cost for some of the parts. I just received some excuse that is what they paid. I checked the retail cost for valve cover gaskets, the entire set was almost twice, and then when I questioned them, since they only replaced the one side, he stated they had one in the shop. I asked if they changed the tranny oil and he never responded as to yes or no, but they did pull the tranny out to replace the seal. I asked if they change the oil and filter and he responded they changed the oil but would say anything about the filter. Again I was charge almost twice for a oil change Another issue was new noise came from the tranny and he said to bring it in and he would check it out. I went in at 430 on a Thursday and he didn't have time and said to come back. I asked when would be good and he said the following Tuesday which I did. At that time, he looked at it but said the owner was better but didn't have time right then, so I again asked to have him call me to schedule and as of today almost 3 months no reply. Since that, I had to have brakes done and when it was in a different shop the service department noticed that there was leak coming out of the side tranny and it should be repaired quickly. I contact KB and they said they would stand behind their work and bring it in. I informed the hostile service manager that I didn't trust them to do the work in the reasonable time nor did I trust them to do the work. I said to have the owner contact me and again still no response. So bottom line is they take your money, don't do the work and charge for items that are either not new or overpriced and are aggressive when you question them about the work and cost of the work BUYER BE AWARE! read more

I recently went to AAMCO for a transmission look up. I had an issue with it slipping and kicking into neutral. Well of course they said $1500.00 for a rebuild install. I work with a friend of Kenny and he said Kenny is a great wizard of transmissions. I thought he might be able to cut my $1500 bill a little. Man a little... I called Kenny and told him the symtoms of my car. Man this guy told me without even looking at it what he thought it was. I took my car to KB and there was Kenny running all over the place to take care of me like I was family (really running no joke). He hooked up his computer and even showed em the code (The code that AAMCO said wasn't there). Kenny was right on with his thought of what it was. a $80 part.
