BUT I wanted to be sure to leave a review for the honesty I encountered when I brought my vehicle to Ken's shop. I was told by a highly rated auto repair shop that my "transmission was failing and it will cost close to $10k to get a new one, so I am best off selling my car ASAP." After looking up multiple transmission shops and reading reviews, I decided to come in to Ken's Transmissions. They did a diagnostic on my car and told me my transmission is 100% fine and recommended a reputable shop to bring it in to have the actual problem diagnosed. Turns out I just needed spark plugs and a new coil! I'm so grateful for Ken's transmissions and their honesty. Saved me lots of money and heartache. ‼‼DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS CHOP SHOP. ‼‼ I was recommended by another car shop to have our 2015 Ford Explorer looked at. The lady on the phone suggested us it would take 1-2 days to look at and would get back to us(they never got back to us). We signed paper work(don't sign the paper work) to have them have the car and review what might be happening with the car. On the 3rd day after no responses or feedback about the status, I called for an update. They say they took the car for a drive to find out what might be going on with it and would call us back. Bill or Phill(prob not his real name) who runs the shop called me and said nothing is going on and that the car is ready for pickup. I dropped off my other car at the house, had my 73 year old father, 65 year old mother with health issues, and two kids( 3 and 5 years old) drive to Kens to pick up my Ford. When I got to the shop, Bill/Phill said that he had a guy take the car out for "another" ride to confirm the issue. HERES THE PROBLEM: My car wasn't returned for over an hour. I checked in the shop multiple times to verify what's going on with my car. Why would any car shop need to drive my car for more than 15 mins? Why did they tell me to come pick up my car? On top of all of this, my kids and older parents are stuck in a truck waiting for my car for over an HOUR! The last time I go into the shop to check the status of the , Bill/Phill said that the guys(now guys not guy) had the gas light turn on so they stopped to get gas in the car. The car had over 1/2 tank of gas when I dropped it off. Almost a hour and a half of waiting for my car, watching not a single mechanic work on any cars at the shop, my car finally shows up with two extremely shady men get out of my car. I finally get my keys back with my two kids in the car and the gas tank is at zero miles left to the gallon. Whatever you do, don't work with Ken's transmission. I can not say enough good things about this shop. Taking my car there was way better than I could have imagined. Previously I had taken my car to a Toyota dealer and after paying $150 to just diagnose the problem they said I need a new trans period. Too expensive. Then went to a trans repair shop, they said I needed a new Pcm, bad computer. Wasted over 2 weeks waiting for them to work on car. The third place I went to said I needed new solenoids. More money gone. Car transmission still not working. By now I am depressed and ready to give up and scrap this beautiful car. Next, I found Ken's Transmission shop was highly recommended on several internet reviewing sites. Called number for Ken's shop listed on Yelp. The number was no longer a working number. Dam, they must have gone out of business! Went to Ken's website and saw a different phone number. Called it and Phil answered. I asked him if he had changed his phone number. Phil replied that he had the same phone number for 38 years. That was a good sign. Long story short Phil gave me back my car same day. It drives and shifts great again, no codes and all gears. He fixed a loose connection at the ECM. He didn't charge me for his diagnosis time, and he fixed my car that was about to be the best looking car in the junk yard. Check my F350 Dually in because my transmission was overheating a lot, especially when towing my 5th wheel. Went in with the expectation of a very expensive repair/replacement for my 20 year old vehicle & downtime of a few days. I really wanted to keep my Ford F-150 out of the super costly Ford Dealership. I brought it to Ken's Transmission to have the transmission serviced. I dropping it off early in the morning and picked it up at the end of the day. Phil was very nice. He originally quoted me $159.00 for the service, plus tax & that's exactly what it cost when I picked it up. They dropped the transmission pan, replaced the filter, gasket and transmission fluid. The Ford dealership and the near by oil center, wanted to pump it out, without replacing the filter. My truck was ready on time. Nice and clean, just like I brought it in. Everything went well. Phil and his guys won me over with great customer service. I will now see him every 25,000 to 30,000 miles, for preventative transmission maintenance. read more

I have a 1990 Cadillac that needs a transmission rebuild. Here on Yelp, I read all the great reviews about Ken's Transmission so I thought I'd give the shop a call for a quote and set up an appointment. On, October 30, I called and asked for Ken. He wasn't there so I spoke to man who answered the phone. I was given a quote of $1,500. [My buddy Mike from Brake Masters called to confirm the quote. Yep, it's $1,500 he was told]. I said, "Great. I'll have the money the first week of December. I'll call back late November for an appointment." Late November I called the shop to arrange for time a date to bring my car down. I asked for Ken but he was not there. Hummmm..does Ken really exist? lol lol. Anyway, I spoke to the man on the phone (I think his name is Phil) and reminded him of my call from back in October. I said, "I was quoted $1,500." He said, "A transmission rebuild will cost you $1,750." Whoa, partner. How did the price all of sudden jump $250 higher? He said, "When you first called, I was looking at the forward wheel drive quote. You have a rear wheel drive. That price is $1,750 for a transmission rebuild." I don't care if I have a sideways drive or a upside down pineapple cake drive. The original quote of $1,500 should be honored. He insisted the new, higher price stands. Not good. I called a different shop and got an HONEST and ACCURATE quote. My car is now at that shop being repaired. Ken, if you exist and if you ever read your Yelp reviews, I hope you see this one. I could have been your most loyal customer. Such a missed opportunity for your shop due to someone who has trouble quoting prices and exercising fair customer relations. read more

My transmission went out in my truck on the 13th of June. I called kens because my dad referred me to them and they rebuilt it for me. Cost about $2300. It's now the 29th of July and it's getting rebuilt for the third time. They haven't charged me except the first time but I use my truck for work so it's still costing me money. Be 1 if the transmission wasn't decent. my understanding is if you have to remove it to do the work it should be torqued to spec when you leave it. I had a lot of things loose cause I didnt see the need to tighten something that had to be removed. I had my truck towed to there shop so it didn't need to run. my guess is they took about 2.5hrs to throw a prebuilt trans in my truck. they went thru my old trans and there were two bearings wrong. one wrong bearing, one didn't use: rest was $1200 worth of nice parts, and a brand new torque converter I was excited to use. neither of wish I got to use. they said there trans had same shit. so far I like there transmission but the rear main seal that wasn't leaking is now, my shifter that was working perfectly is trashed. my starter had no power to the trigger wire, I get it figure that one out. both exhaust manifolds loose, bell housing bolts half screwed in. and they had the nerve to test drive it like this and say they don't do shifters and it went thru the gears. I paid 3k was told they would swap my battery but wasn't in the price. I took care of it. no worries. My guess is dad was amazing; son is to but the staff are a bunch of bitches. shit would get messing if I went back. just handled it instead. read more

Had them rebuild the transmission on our ford F-250 Super Duty Diesel 4,000 miles ago. The day it was done we brought it back after hanging up in first gear... which they couldn't replicate. Over the next 4,000 miles we brought it in 4 MORE times with concerns of hard shifts and getting stuck in 1st gear. One of which we paid more money to have solenoids replaced. At times they kept it for days but could somehow not replicate (even though it happened at least once per drive). 4,000 miles go by and we are headed up north, and the transmission BLEW. Completely shot, to the point of leaving us stranded. We had it towed 120 miles back to Ford because we weren't sure what happened. They informed us that the transmission had blown, and when they pulled the transmission pan, metal pieces spilled out of it onto the ground. We then went back to Ken's to let them know what happened and gave them the dealer diagnostic (with pictures). They wanted us to spend an ADDITIONAL $2,000 for them to try again (because the first time went so well). We asked for a partial refund to go towards the $5,000 we are now spending at Ford to get it done right, and they quickly shut that down. Highly recommend spending the extra money and trusting the dealer the first time... as they do a FACTORY rebuild with a 3 year, unlimited mile warranty (which covers more than 4,000). read more

can't believe I can say enough about Ken's transmission and about Ken himself. I knew I had tore up my transmission pretty bad and I was going to need a extensive transmission rebuild. I spent a couple weeks Doing my due diligence Investigating transmission shops. Spent hours on YouTube watching videos of what really needs to be done to do a proper rebuild. I spent hours talking with other shops getting quotes These other shops would quote you a price but when I would ask if they do this or that or if this part was included they would say oh no that would be extra or we can't do that for that price. They wanted a open end contract. One actually told me he would remove my transmission and if I didnt like the price he would through it the back of the truck and I could take it somewhere else. He had quoted me over $2500. When I asked if it included any hard parts if needed he said no. Just bands. I heard all sorts of bullshit of what they didnt include. Got the same from just about all of the other shops. When I stopped at Ken's I heard all the right info of what probably would need to be done. Better yet what would be done. He assured me if it needed it would be installed at the quoted price. (And it needed it) Ken also said it was his name on it so it would be done right. I needed to get my transmission services and the only places I could get it done was either at the dealership, AAMCO, and Kens transmission. I called all three of the to get quotes and the dealership and AAMCO quoted me over $400 for only a transmission flush they were not going to change any filters during the service. After giving Kens transmission a call Phil answered and quoted me $189 to replace the filters and the fluid on my Jeep Patriot with a CVT transmission type. When I came to pick it up it was super quick and easy! Kens Transmission is definitely going to be my forever place to go to when I need to get my transmission work on!
