Allstate transmission is one of the few good shop left in the automotive industry. Last year I had to replace the transmission in my vehicle which is never good news but I didn't want to buy a new car. I called a shop I trusted Choice Auto repair in Tempe and asked if they had any transmission shops they recommended. They recommended Allstate. I called allstate and spoke to Nicole who set up an appointment to get the car looked at. Allstate was able to look at the car same day and told us worst case scenario for pricing and best case scenario. They proceeded with the repair and the vehicle was completed within the week which was amazing for a transmission rebuild. One year later the car started having some shifting problems, I immediately called Allstate and set up an appointment to have the vehicle looked at. Same as last time the car was looked at same day and was determined to have an issue with the transmission. Allstate offers a warranty for their work, however we were passed the warranty because we drive the car a lot. Allstate took care of us and honored the warranty and got the issue resolved which turned out to be a bearing that was failing. I was in shock they did this as they could of easily charged me for repairs since the warranty was expired. I will never go to another shop when I need transmission work done. I had a terrible experience with AllState Transmission and would not recommend their services. I was charged extra for storage fees on my car, but when I picked it up, the part they supposedly fixed was still not working properly and my transaxle sign popped up before I even made the car home. When I brought this up, Nicole was extremely unprofessional and told me I was "lucky" they would even fix it without charging me more for the new parts they had to replace on my transmission--despite the fact that the part had failed and should have been properly repaired in the first place. To make matters worse, when I asked for an invoice showing the corrected repairs, they refused to provide one, leaving me without proper documentation for my records. This is completely unacceptable. I paid for a service that was not done correctly, was overcharged, and was then denied basic proof of what was (or wasn't) fixed. I asked for a refund or even a partial refund on the storage fees considering I was charged more than what I was told and for the car having not been completed correctly in the timeline under which I was informed and billed for. Had to leave work multiple times for their mistake but was told I was lucky to have a fixed car, which I am, but some good customer service would have been nice too. I would strongly advise others to take their business elsewhere. A reputable shop should stand by their work, treat customers with respect, and provide clear and accurate invoices. And customer satisfaction is supposedly their 100% priority but Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. read more

They offered us a combat veteran discount (I am retired disabled combat veteran) which was extremely significant due to the amount of repairs. The best shop my car has ever been to hands down. These guys took care of me like I was family and for that I owe them big time. I came in with a rust bucket Tacoma that was having driveshaft issues and clutch issues they not only addressed what the previous shop had done wrong but they made sure I was provided the correct parts and everything was installed correctly before they replaced my clutch for me. They diagnosed another issue (transfer case) free of cost for me months after the clutch had been installed and made sure I was taken care of with that in the best way possible they were amazing with communication and customer service. As I was towing a trailer cross-country with my Jeep during a coast to coast move, my transmission temp light went on. I was just south of Phoenix, and decided to pull over and check yelp for some reviews on transmission repair shops in the area, rather find myself stranded in the desert. Allstate came up. I gave them a call. It was early Friday afternoon, but they said to bring it in and they'd fix me up. They were super friendly, diagnosed the problem as being a bad solenoid pack, which they could replace and get me on my way that afternoon. For the next few hours, they hosted my dog and me in the reception area. Just over $800 later, the solenoid pack replaced, I was on my merry way. Or so I thought. I didn't even make it out of Phoenix before the light was back on, and the transmission wouldn't go into overdrive, either. I called to ask if I could bring it back in, to which they replied, 'It's a computer thing. It'll reset after you drive a while. It went through all the gears when we drove it." I pulled over at a rest stop, and checked the interwebs to see if that was remotely legit. The computer thing did have some merit. After another call to a mechanic friend, I decided to keep on driving. Allstate was closed on weekends, and there was no point in going back to Phoenix anyway. I made it to my destination about 500 miles later. Light still on, no overdrive, averaging about 8 mpg instead of the 16-20 I'd enjoyed for the previous 4500 miles of the road trip. The mythical reset did not happen. Something was amiss, obviously. The trailer was unhooked at the destination, and the jeep was immediately dropped off at another transmission shop. Another saga started after that - long story short- jeep was in the shop for 2 weeks- transmission had to be completely rebuilt to clear all of the computer codes for another $1800, and that didn't fix it- the second place assumed the new solenoid pack was good and didn't replace it. Lo and behold, the same problems cropped up. Light still on, no overdrive. An automotive electric place across the street charged me another $250 to make sure it wasn't a computer problem. Sure enough, the transmission had to be opened up again. Once the bad solenoid pack was replaced, everything was good to go. I have since driven another 1,000 miles without a problem. A good replacement part in the first place could have saved me just over $2000, but it is duly noted that the place was clean, they were friendly, and stayed open a little later to get me on my way. read more

I found Mitch as a referral after he rebuilt my Boss's 1970 Roadrunner tranny. Obviously, not the type of car you would just let anybody touch! Same thing with my Cummins Dually! I had them build me a High Performance Tranny capable of handling 1000ft/lbs of torque and 500 Horsepower that I had been quoted prices for of $5500 and I would have had to ship my old Tranny as a core and pay $1800 until they received it ground shipping of course. $7300 is a lot of money and I wasn't dealing with somebody local!!! Mitch at Allstate Transmission built the same Tranny per Build sheet for $4000 plus tax. The best part of dealing with Allstate is that immediately after meeting Mitch and his Wife (the owners who actually work there) is that he takes the time to make every customer feel important and he took the time to explain to me everything until I was able to understand why it was needed and how it all worked. Patient, honest, family run, clean, respectful and reasonable are the first few words that come to mind when I think of Allstate Transmissions. The shop is spotless, as are the employees, which says a lot as nobody wants some greasy mechanic climbing in and out of their car all day. They have a secure shop big enough to store your car indoors. They finished the job on time and at the agreed upon price! That seems to be a lost art nowadays! I had Bought a 2012 Chevy truck at auction with a bad transmission. I took to a shop in Avondale. They had quoted me a price of $1500 to pull my old trans and replace it with a Completely Rebuilt trans they had already done. After buying the truck I had it towed to the shop in Avondale and they replaced the transmission. Long story short the shop never delivered a good transmission. After one day the transmission would start acting up. They tried to blame it on the electrical So I had the truck towed Lefty's Auto Electrical and they check it out. After an $819 dollar bill to replace the computer that controls the transmission and programing Which Lefty's Auto did not believe was going to solve the problem, The transmission still did not work correctly and the shop in Avondale refused to work on the truck anymore and would not up hold the one year Guarantee they offered when I had them do the work. I am now suing the shop In Avondale. At the suggestion of Ralph at Left's Auto Electric we sent the truck to Allstate Transmission. They pulled the transmission and found several parts that should have been replaced in the rebuild, but was not actually done. Allstate rebuilt the transmission and and it ran great for about two weeks then started to have a couple issues. I brought it back to Allstate and they found the Torque Converter had started to fail. They replaced the torque converter and rebuilt the transmission again due to meatal the torque converter had sent through the transmission. Again The truck runs just as it did from the factory and Allstate Transmission was a pleasure to work with. They solved my Transmission Problems and earned a friend in the process. The last thing you want to hear from a mechanic is "you may need a new transmission." Of course at this point, whichever place you use will tell you that they don't do them. Double dilemma, after I had a quiet cry for a few minutes, I started my research and started to ask/ search for a place that does them. Out of 6, I narrowed my search to 2 & after a brief interview with them, I chose to go to Allstate simply because Mitch spoke to me and explained to me step by step what the issues may be and all is not what it necessarily seems. My Dodge Ram was not shifting out of 2nd and Mitch told me what they would do and would let me know if they run into problems. Fortunately what he recommended worked and I still saved what could have been a couple thousand dollars. The work is solid and after dealing with Mitch, I now know that not all mechanics are out to break you. Above and BEYOND customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was referred to Allstate by Tucker Tire (another excellent automotive repair place!) for transmission issues. I had just purchased a used 2002 Dodge 15 passenger van and had it die on me the weekend before heading up the I-17 in Cordes Junction. Turns out that it needed a transmission cooler installed. I took it to Allstate the next day and they were happy to give me a ride home (approximately 8 miles) while they worked on my van. I was desperate to get the repairs done quickly and correctly -- as I was headed to Colorado the next day. I'm a professional dog handler and was heading to a dog show with 2 other people and 5 dogs!! I was nervous when I picked up the van...as I had just recently purchased from a private party that did not keep good records on the repairs she had done -- but I was assured by the guys there that it was a good van and could easily make it to Colorado now that it had a new transmission cooler. Well, we got an early start on our trip the next morning and left Phoenix about 5:00 a.m. --- made a pit stop at Cordes Junction to get gas and snacks...and as I returned to the van from the store, I was TERRIFIED to see red liquid dripping out all over from the front of the van!!! In a panic, I called the number on the business card from Allstate --- and I was shocked (but in a GOOD way) that Jeff Wilson (the general manager) answered the phone!!! It was only 6:30 a.m. on Thursday morning!!! I explained the problem to Jeff as well as the fact that we were already an hour outside of Phoenix and with 5 dogs in the van -- it was getting hot and I HAD to get on the road. Jeff was understanding and advised me to add some transmission fluid to get me up the road a bit to the home of the gal that we were picking up. I had to hang out there for a few hours....but Allstate SENT A TECHNICIAN ALL THE WAY TO MAYER, AZ TO FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never heard of customer service like this!!!! I feel terrible that I have forgotten the gentleman's name that came to help -- but he arrived on his motorcycle with every part they could possibly need to fix the van -- turns out it was a faulty cooler and he had to replace that -- which he did at no charge. Although we got an extremely late start on our trip -- I can't say enough about how pleased I was at the way Allstate handled this problem. DOES NOT live up to the positive reviews. I was looking forward to going to Allstate after all the positive reviews I read about their service. Honestly, it's out of my way -- all the way across the Valley -- but it seemed worth the extra time to get there, even if it was just for the initial diagnostic. Though Mitch did take the time to explain the diagnostic and options for the fix, his wife, Nicole, who works the front desk and office, was anything but helpful. Every interaction with Nicole, from initial phone contact to in-person front-desk time, to follow-up phone calls, was unhelpful, dismissive, and brusque: she treats clarifying questions like she has a chip on her shoulder. One small example among many -- my visit was prompted by an engine-light failure on an emissions test. When I asked a question about the specific problem affecting emissions, her glib response was, "I really don't know, to be honest, I've never once failed an emissions test before." Well, good for you, but that's not what I asked. Like I said, Mitch seemed nice enough. But because nearly all my interaction was with Nicole -- even when I asked to speak with Mitch instead (she refused to relay the message) -- I definitely won't be giving Allstate Transmission my business. VERY SATISIFIED! I took my recently restored 1968 Cutlass to Allstate to fix a transmission leak. Apparently the trans is an odd one - a 2 speed automatic. Mitch looked at it and gave tne option of repairing the leak or upgrading to a Turbo 350 3 speed. Decided to do the up grade and I am so happy. Price was very fair and it was done on time. Car runs and shifts like new! Lots more get up and go too! They did a great job and even pointed out a couple of issues my restorers missed. I highly recommend Allstate Transmission. read more

The 'check engine' light went on in my Jeep, and after taking it to AutoZone to have the code read they told me there was a problem with my transmission. I called Allstate because they had such good reviews and they definitely did not disappoint. They got me in the very next morning, and even though the problem was actually not the transmission they explained what was wrong and told me where to go to have it fixed. I have a '94 Chevy C1500, 2WD pickup with 142,000 miles. This truck is going to be a restoration project that I am going to own long term. The auto trans. started acting up, and I found a 022 trouble code for Throttle Position Sensor low signal voltage. As bad as the tranny was acting, I believed it had to be more than just the TPS causing it (lurching when I put it in gear, noise while idling in gear). I researched the local shops all and came down to 4 shops, all with good reviews. I called Allstate (Nicole) first and heard how they price the job and what they do....reasonable, thorough, and no corner cutting, to produce a high quality outcome. Their estimate provides a min and max price, because during disassembly more things can be found to need replacing than the min figure accounted for if just wearable parts are all that is needed. I didn't call anyone else because being a gearhead myself, I liked what I was hearing and how they are so intent on quality, which is smart because then they get fewer come-backs on their 12-month/12,000 mile warranty. I had it towed in, and they called to tell me all I needed was the TPS I had coming via mail order. How many transmission shops will tell you that you don't need a repair except for a sensor that attaches to the throttle body with 2 screws, that you provide? I decided since it is going to be a restoration and has142,000 miles, might as well go through it now instead of down the road as it will have to be done at some point, especially since it will getting a new engine later, the old tired tranny will need it. He knew all the things I was looking for to make the tranny better than new with some upgraded parts over what the original came with. Upgraded parts are available from quality aftermarket parts suppliers like Sonnax. One detail I liked is they replace the internal electronics even if things like solenoids are still working, because with high mileage on them, they can still work but be getting slow and prone to failure, and they source the electronic parts directly from the OEM dealer because they have learned the aftermarket electronics are not as good as OEM. But mechanical parts from good aftermarket suppliers like Sonnax are often improved over OEM. I opted to pay more than the min and the max estimates to do some extra upgrades, because I wanted a lasting rebuild for the long term with improvements for heavier duty towing reliability, and other upgrades to make it better than a regular "just fix it" rebuild, and the price was still reasoanble for all I got. I had ordered the Throttle Position Sensor online from Rockauto and Mitch asked me to bring it down so he could install it before the truck was ready, because he wanted to give it back to me perfect. It drives great and I could not be happier. This shop started in 1987 with Mitch and his dad in one bay downtown. It's now a big shop with multiple bays and is owned/operated by Mitch and his wife, Nicole, with about a half dozen builders and installers. I think that finding a good transmission shop who stands behind their work is about as rare as a unicorn these days, but I think this is it. I have no affiliation with this shop and only learned of it's existence while reading reviews. Now when my friends ask me for a referral to a good transmission shop, I have a name for them. read more

90k miles on a rebuild from Allstate and still going fine. Recently returned for normal service and all was fine. Thanks Allstate.

I had 4l60e tranny completely rebuilt at 171,200 miles I believe in 2012 cost $2000.00, 10,000 miles later front seal goes out, which I paid labor and they fixed it although paper work stated front seal I am not sure as from what I have read they seldom go out as it is usually the front pump seal?? 10,000 miles later input drum goes out and they fixed that Dec of 2017 but put in used parts as I had tranny rebuilt again 10/25/2018 and was told input drum piston set were old and hard and a lot of other stuff like burnt 3-4 clutches, bent and broken spring in 1-2 accumulator plus more. During this last 10,000 miles since front seal replaced I was at their shop 5-10 times having problems with at hard take off and at high speed auto trans shifting into 4th it would act like it went in to neutral and then slam into gear which I am sure is what caused the input drum to go out as they said teeth were sheared off and the only was it could happen was powershifting from 3rd to 4th??? Had trouble with the shift kit they put in as when it down shifted it clunked bad. Had all this checked out in the 5-10 times taking it to their shop and having them check it and always found nothing??? I had rear end shop check rear end for clunking, replaced torque arm bushing, tranny mount and checked all control arms and motor mounts finding nothing? Need less to say at 30,000 miles the tranny started leaking real bad. Just had it repaired at another shop and when they replaced the input drum from talking to the tranny guy, nothing else was replaced and was told the other parts in the tranny were wore out causing the input drum to fail and there was a kind of shift kit in it made up of springs and a couple of springs were broke so there for in my opinion the reason for the hard downshifts but this is just my opinion from research I have done and other transmission shops that I have asked questions to. You might have had a decent experience but I will never go there again and the last time in Dec when they agreed grudgingly to fix it they would not provide me with paper work as it was free work or as she called it good will work?? I am 66 now and have never raced the car and it was pretty much stock and yes get on it once in awhile but it was not abused. They refused to fix it and I understand they only have a short warranty but the amount of miles and the number of times I was at there shop, I feel it should have been taken care of but I guess if their technicians can find nothing wrong then it must have been something else. read more

I drove it until I found a shop I could trust, because I've been burned in the past by other automotive shops. A huge selling point was that this is a family business that actually takes pride in their work and professionalism. I was told a price and day it would be ready. A day and a half later my 2003 Focus SVT 6spd was ready and exactly the same price quoted (1/3 price of dealership). I would recommend this place to friends, family, and even my grandmother! I was introduced to Mitch at Allstate through a friend who owns a car repair facility. Problem was my friend works only on Honda and Acuras and I drive a Ford Excursion. From the first phone call to the day I picked up my car I was completely impressed and satisfied. Mitch and Nicole were both great to deal with, took the time to explain everything to me, and gave me options along the way as to what upgrades I had mentioned I wanted installed for better towing ability. Mitch also invited me down to look at the broken 2nd gear sprag after he had dismantled my transmission and showed me the upgraded part that would be replacing that piece.
