Wow! I've driven past this place multiple times and have never been in- opportunity lost! Had a wonderful breakfast with a friend. Portions were very generous and soooo tasty! It's a busy place but the staff was on top of things like coffee refills, extra sauces- you name it! The art on the walls also contributed to the festive atmosphere!
This place, yes! Not our normal side of town so we don't really go out of our 'circle' but we were heading to Costco and looked for local around there. Place is very clean, very cute. Outside seating. Saw a dog also out there. Sat down right away, server was fast, friendly, knowledgeable. *Kari* Food was hot and delicious! This place is tucked into a shopping center, right where Silver Dragon was for many years. Decent parking. Decent prices. We WILL go back!
I came in with a friend after a hike, so we were a little underdressed, but the whole restaurant is more on the casual side so we felt okay. We sat outside which was shaded and very cute! The menu is very large and we felt slightly overwhelmed but I decided on the Tartine with a side of sausage and my friend got the Veggie Breakfast Burrito. The Tartine says it comes with whole wheat bread or jalapeño corn bread, and after I ordered I realized I forgot to specify which bread I wanted and was never asked. Upon tasting, I think the bread was just regular bread, which was fine but I feel is something that I could have been informed about before hand. However, the presentation of food was beautiful! Everything we ate tasted very fresh, including the freshly squeezed orange juice, which was much more than a "shot". I loved my meal, but I do feel it was a small portion for the price. Though, the breakfast burrito was one of the cheapest things on the menu and was quite substantial. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and my time at Frida's Cafe! The menu is large and there is something for everyone. I do not feel a strong need to return but I definitely would enjoy it again if I did return!
Artist, icon, feminist- her legacy lives on in so many ways- including heavily/loosely inspired restaurants such as this one located in Tucson. When my kid did her own research, this inspired restaurant popped up during our mini vacation. Frida's C. is spacious- but do come early in the morning on weekends. My kid and I got right in the nick of time like at 10 or so- after that let's say- 11 on, you'd be waiting outside for your name to be called. You'll find breakfast, brunch, lunch, beer, some alcohol beverages, fresh pressed juices, etc. Expect burritos, tacos and other dishes with names like 'El Gordito Diego' sandwich, 'Hummingbird Omelette', 'Frida & Diego Chilaquiles', etc. My kid liked her cheesy veg omelette with a tasty side of rajas poblanas+corn and my mushroom+provolone omelette was tasty and what took my dish to another level was the side of fresh fruit. The pineapple was sweet, the oranges- heck, there are oranges and then there are oranges- somehow, these were freaking tasty. The single pancake my kid and I shared tasted doughy and was densed. But our fresh pressed juices though were money. Aside from the pancake, service and price were nice.
Food was ok Servers were nice enough when they did talk to me Possible they were prioritizing they're bigger tables and regulars which is fair Very cute decor in tribute to Mz Frida Khalo Little crowded table wise inside but there's more seating in the outdoor patio from what I could see on the way in
I wish I could say this is the best place for breakfast but I would be lying. It wasn't bad but it had no spark or flavor. The coffee was just ok and the Chilequlles was cold but I didn't send it back because it would not have made it more flavorful. I probably would eat there again but it would not be my first choice. I do love a great chilequlles but this was not it.
I went to Fridas Cafe at 5526 E. Grant for the first time today. The staff was friendly and the vanilla bean pancakes I got were delicious. I got the 2-2-2 meal 2 pancakes 2 pieces of bacon and 2 eggs for $12.99. I liked it! The ambiance was cool lots of Frida Kahlo photos on the walls.
First time to highly recommended Frida's cafe. Larger than expected with covered patio that someone had a dog ; don't know if dogs allowed inside? Maybe service dogs ? Big menu breakfast , lunch & brunch . I tried the huevos rancheros with 3 eggs beautiful presentation! Ordered another tortilla to finish the beautiful sauce & egg after finishing the eggs & rancheros . They have an early bird 6-8 am specials including the huevos rancheros w 2 eggs not 3 for $5.99 a gonga! Many great looking items on the menu ! I was very impressed and will return again . This place is a hidden gem! We were looking for a cafe for brunch and stumbled upon it. I love that the cafe embraces Frida with the artwork and menu. We went ahead and tried an item on the breakfast and lunch side. Both were flavorful. The rancheros had a nice little spice to it but wasn't overpowering in anyway. Our waitress was fantastic and informed us of some changes in pricing due to the high cost of eggs. Understandably since egg prices are insane atm. I do appreciate that the business doesn't want to raise the egg prices permanently but need to do to the current market. Can't wait to go back!

This charming breakfast place serves traditional and mexican style breakfast dishes. I really enjoyed the fresh orange juice and french toast. The staff here are friendly and welcoming. I always had a full cup of coffee. Overall a decent dining experience.
This is class food. Take a look at the menu, amazing flavor/ingredient combinations! I had the Mexitartine--delightful! They must make their own cornbread-like loaf bread. It was served on a toasted slice of this jalapeño cornbread. The sauce had good flavor without being overbearing. Every flavor works with each other. I also had one vanilla bean pancake. Nice twist on the ol' pancake theme. The Mexitartine comes with a small glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. It was SO good, I ordered another full glass. In both glasses, I spit out a seed and a chunk of pulp. That's not a negative, that's a plus. Shows it really is freshly squeezed. And it was delicious. My server's name was Genesis. She was smiley and pleasant the whole time. A couple of other waitresses were not so much. She was great. Portrait of the artist Frida all over the walls. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

I heard great things about this place and was glad to have finally tried it. I got the dream omelette, the eggs were cooked so perfectly and everything was flavorful. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portions you receive. The coffee was also strong and delicious, and they have flavored creamers available. I loved the homemade salsas, the chile de arbol one had a really nice heat and flavor; the green salsa was delicious as well. Also tried the pear, pineapple, ginger shot which was super tasty! Service was very attentive as well. The place is pretty roomy and cute, tables aren't crowded together, and there's also a nice covered patio area. read more

I've been driving past this restaurant for many months. I was finally able to visit with my mom on a Saturday morning. We started with brewed coffee for both. Its kind of strange that they brought out this teeny, tiny maybe 1 or 2 oz cup of milk for our 2 cups of coffee. I didn't bother asking for another tiny cup of milk or cream thankfully they had French vanilla cups to add to your coffee. Coffee taste was decent! I approve. Mom ordered the hummingbird omelette. She didn't finish it and took half her plate including fruits home. I ordered the Frida Huevos Rancheros. It was a perfect serving for me as I've has gastric sleeve surgery. My dish consisted of black beans at the base, an over hard egg and 2 tortillas drenched in the red sauce. It was garnished with avocado slices and cilantro. I enjoyed it so much. I actually took half home. For someone who doesn't have an eating restriction, I think the portions would be considered small. I would definitely like to come back to try the Frida and Diego chilaquiles. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side but also has an outdoor eating area. Very friendly and bilingual staff. Minus 1 star for the minimal menu. I spent several minutes translating each dish to my Spanish speaking mom. It would help if they had a Spanish menu or at least pictures in this Hispanic restaurant. read more
Had a breakfast lunch here today. Portion size was great and the service was prompt and attentive throughout. The food was fine, but nothing fantastic. I can't say anything was bad, but the eggs, home fries, bacon and side pancake were just okay. Eggs were cooked perfectly and tasted fine. The rye toast was the highlight of the meal. It was very tasty bread. Even the OJ was just okay. read more

This place is elevated diner food. Good, but nothing special. The service, tables, menu...all like a diner with a hip spin. I had the eggs and French toast. Good - but not enough for me to go out of my way to come back. Bacon was so thin you could see through it. French toast was pretty, bit of horchatta flavor - but nothing special. Only drip coffee (no specialty coffee). read more

Very pleasant little brunch we had here. Chile relleno was superb, no bells and whistles, just really simple flavorful cooking. Also ordered a vanilla bean pancake and wished we had gotten a stack of them. We sat on the patio with our dog, great service and everything was very moderately priced. read more
A hole in the wall gem for Tucson! Frida's Cafe is themed after the famous Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo. There are paintings and pictures of Frida all over the restaurant. The food is as good as the art. The restaurant is not fancy at all, but the food and service speak for itself. The staff is friendly and quick and the food is amazing. They serve your usual breakfast items (pancakes, eggs, etc.), alcoholic drinks, and Mexican entrees. The ingredients are fresh, crisp, and delicious. I highly recommend you come for a visit. Think of this place as a diner with a Mexican twist! Fast service, cheaper eats, and a causal feel. Very much no frills, but delicious nonetheless. I was surprised with how yummy and soft their vanilla bean pancake was and the quality of their freshly squeezed OJ. I have nothing negative to say about this place, but because it's not as memorable I only give it 4/5. read more

This cafe is awesome. I love the Frida artwork and the overall vibe. All the staff was very friendly and on top of it. Their menu is a mix of traditional type of breakfast with a twist and they offer daily specials, too. All of the food was delicious and fresh, I especially loved the iced tea, vanilla bean pancakes, the special called El Indio and the sourdough toast. This is definitely a place we will come back to and look forward to trying more menu items. read more

If you think of a few words that describe the works of the Cafe's enigmatic namesake Frida Kahlo, like vibrant, beautiful, and colorful, then you've also found words that describe everything on the menu here. Brought to life about a year ago by the former owners of Tucson's Taco Giros, the atmosphere is clean and straightforward, with colorful tablecloths and prints Frida Kahlo's artwork on the walls. The menu is an awesome mix of authentic Mexican dishes and American brunch standards. The food is fresh, delicious, and very reasonably priced! In a market where everyone is bumping up the price of a good sandwich with a side of well seasoned fries to nearly 20 bucks, Frida's are $10-$12. And everything is delicious. And ProTip: Their Facebook page regularly posts Frida quotes and images as well. Super cool. read more

Excellent food, chilaquiles were so tasty and fresh but the pancakes oh my god That's another dimension The taste is awesome, not your regular box cake but flavorful, my theory is that if you need a knife to cut pancakes stay away from that place, but here you just need your fork and will melt in your mouth, and I am picky eater, I know my flavors and oh wow!!! Cute hole in the wall cafe that serves tasty breakfast at decent prices! Staff is lovely as well. I've chosen the sweet options on the menu while my husband opts for savory. The vanilla bean pancakes are so good; the vanilla flavor is not subtle so if you're a fan of vanilla, highly recommend. The Hornitos French toast was decent but I prefer the pancakes. Both come with a side of eggs (you choose how they're prepared) and bacon or sausage - the sausage links are a winner. My husband has had the huevos rancheros and Mexitartine which he has enjoyed; the huevos has a bit of a kick to it. The Mexitartine comes with a side of freshly squeezed orange juice which was delicious. Solid breakfast spot overall. read more

This little gem is hidden away on the southeast corner of Grant and Craycroft. It tried it for the first time this week with some friends and was pleased with the food and the service. Our server was friendly and attentive. I got the hummingbird omelette, which had bacon, cheese, mushrooms, and spinach in it... Very tasty. It came with two tiny containers of sauces. I'm not one who likes spicy, so I didn't use them. Fresh fruit of melons and pineapple came as a side. I asked for the sourdough toast and it was chewy and crusty, just the way I like it. My friends ordered BLT sandwiches and they were enormously thick. You pretty much had to deconstruct it to be able to eat it! Yum! Many of their other items look delicious too, so I'll have to go back and try them out again. read more

I came with a friend for breakfast on a weekend, it's cute inside with pics of Frida, clean and cute. Service was good, and our waitress made recommendations for us since it was our first time here. I ordered the mexitartine - it was toast with chorizo and eggs, the menu said it was cornbread, but it was more like toast to me, it came with a small glass of OJ on the plate, which seemed a bit odd to me. I had already ordered OJ. The OJ was delicious and fresh squeezed, but on my plate? Hmm? The toast was just ok. It did also come with 2 side salsas which were very flavorful. My friend ordered the sonora grill, which looked great! It had carne asada, hash browns, black beans, and eggs, and came with tortillas! I wished I had ordered what she had. All was good! If I do come again, I'll try something different. read more

Another new spot to try!!! My boyfriend and I decided to check this place out since we heard great things about it!! We were greeted immediately upon arrival. Looking at the menu they offer many great options to select from! I ordered the vanella bean pancakes and my boyfriend ordered the Diego rivera sandwich. I decided to not try coffee at this spot and not because I didn't want any but because they only have one option for coffee. Anyways, our food arrives quickly and it's very well presented. The pancakes were so delicious and flavorful, the side of fruit compliment the plate. My boyfriend and I decided to share so I had half of his sandwich and all I got to say is that if you like Chile relleno this sandwich is perfect, it had chicken and a half Chile relleno with a lot of cheese it was the best of both worlds. They also give you an option of fríes,soup or salad we went with the fries. The fries were very well done crispy but not over cooked and they had a lot of flavor. I also liked that the sandwich came with two sides of salsas a green and red. The green one had a kick but it had just the right amount! I also ordered a beet, carrot, orange juice wow!!!! So good if you don't like beets then I wouldn't recommend it but if you like beets you will love the combination of the juices in one. The inside is clean and welcoming but it's a bit awkward eating or talking because there is no Music playing. Like I said customer service was good but it can definitely improve. I know it's a new spot so they might still be working on it but when it came to paying our bill we weren't explained if we had to pay at the counter or if we had to wait at the table, so we walked up and asked and the guy wasn't sure. So maybe clarifying it when handing the check will avoid awkward moments, I also think that since this is a new spot asking customers If they have been there before. I do highly recommend this spot and I'm sure you won't regret trying it!!!! Prices are soo good!! Cheaper than most breakfast spots I think we paid 25 dollars before tip! Which is very good considering the food was very delicious!!!! I will be visiting this spot again even though I have to drive 45 mins to get there!!!! read more

Looks like lots of yummy breakfast options but what about lunch?
They have great lunches. I think they have the best sour dough bread in town & they use it for their club sandwich. It is even big enough to share. Their presentation of every dish is fantastic. You really can't go wrong!
