Chilaquiles Verdes

We just landed from a 28 hour flight from Asia and this was the first place we wanted to try being back home. It did not disappoint! When I say I was so happy to be back, it was because of places like the Frida Room. The space was a bit tight but I was focused on the bigger picture: the delicious food (and wonderful service). Both dishes we got were top tier! Not only that... the cafe de olla was probably the coffee I've had in Chicago in a long time. Definitely the best Cafe De Olla. I would go back just for the coffee honestly. Again, I can't hype of the service well enough and the beauty in these pictures. Marvelous. They were on top of it and always nearby if we ever needed anything. So kind & friendly. If you've never been, go tomorrow (haha). Personal Review: 8.8/10

I recently visited Frida's Room and had a really lovely experience. I tried the chilaquiles, and they were absolutely delicious--definitely some of the best I've had in a while. I also loved their café de olla; it was such a cozy touch and really hit the spot. The whole place has a charming vibe, and the prices felt really fair for the quality and service. I'd definitely recommend it if you're in the area!

If you're a Frida fan then I recommend you go here as it is decked out in decorations representing her. They didn't take reservations when I went - not sure if this has changed, but I'd say be mindful of that if not. The inside was packed so we had to opt into sitting outside. That was fine but I wanted to be able to see their decor so that part got ruined for me. The food (I ordered chilaquiles) was okay - definitely needed more sour cream & cheese imo

My wife and kids took me here to celebrate my birthday before heading to nearby Museum of Mexican Art to check out their Dia de Muertos exhibit. I LOVE brunch and this place did not disappoint! My wife ordered our go-to chilaquiles with salsa verde. Two of my sons ordered the churro French toast and my youngest got the pancakes with cajeta and la lechera. Since I can't usually find it on menus, I opted for a bowl of carne en su jugo which hit the spot! The pleasant surprise was the cafe de olla at Frida Room! So good and I could drink that stuff all day long. The service and hospitality was excellent from the moment we arrived. The artwork was the icing on the cake Don't walk to this Pilsen gem, run!

While in Chicago, we got a chance to check out rut Frida Room for breakfast and it did not disappoint. Not only does the Frida Room offer a great variety of top brunch choices for you to enjoy, but it has a plethora of mouth watering dishes from their famous chilaquiles, pancakes, panini's, not to mention the best hamburgers and enchiladas in Chicago. The Frida Room has the best Mexican American breakfast in Chicago. You really can't go wrong with anything off their menu, I kept it simple with the eggs any style, with the sausage links. The dish comes with potatoes and I also got sliced tomatoes and a English muffin. I loved that their potatoes was nice and crispy and the English muffin was grilled. Their breakfast burritos are really good as well. The service was really good as well, servers were very pleasant and attentive. They also keep the coffee and water coming. I love that they put cucumbers in their water, which was really refreshing. If I'm in the Pilsen neighborhood I will definitely return.

A wonderful, beautiful restaurant with staff that goes above and beyond for the guests. All of the staff exudes kindness and compassion. They let us enter with a stroller and were helpful and willing to make accommodations to change tables in order to comfortably accommodate the stroller. They were attentive, ensuring that our coffee was refilled and checking up on us to make sure that we enjoyed the food. We already felt like the experience was perfect, but what made it even more special was the birthday celebration for my family member. The staff lovingly sang and brought out a plate of delicious pancakes. Our favorite part of the meal was the coffee options; I couldn't stop sipping from my café de olla. It was so flavorful and sweet, and it was enjoyable to drink without anything else mixed in. For food, we ordered the guacamole and chips, chilaquiles, and molletes. We liked the chilaquiles best with the verde sauce. We cannot praise this restaurant enough for such an enjoyable breakfast experience! So much gratitude to the kind staff who work so hard and made it so nice! I would recommend making a reservation because, as you can expect, it does get pretty crowded on the weekends!

Food was pretty good, just wish for a bigger portion. Their Cafe de Hoya was pretty good as well. Service was great and I enjoyed the art work they had displayed all over the restaurant. I would definitely stop by here again for breakfast!

Stopped in for an early weekend breakfast in Pilsen. Fun decor (yes, you'll see Frida) and music. Friendly waitstaff. Carafe of cold cucumber infused water on the table was a nice touch to start. I got the Molletes, as I've never tried this dish before. It's described on the menu as an authentic dish from Mexico City - toast with refried beans, mozzarella, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and topped with sunny side up eggs (+$2). The dish is served with crispy and seasoned potatoes. I asked if it'd be possible to substitute fruit instead of the potatoes (would be ok with an upcharge) but was told no substitutions for this dish. This was pretty good at first! I liked the beans and the bright pico, and the drippy eggs. Definitely felt more "homestyle" than like a fancier breakfast. After a little bit though, it didn't taste as good cooled down (and the bread - a standard white bread - got soggy). The potatoes were good but overall the meal was very hearty and filling so I didn't finish them. Looks like they always put out their homemade red and green sauces on each table. They're made with Serrano peppers and tomatillo and are delicious! I especially liked the green sauce on the potatoes. The Azteca coffee is just as fun and good as it sounds. Coffee-y, chocolatey, cinnamon-y. It's thick and rich to be sipped on slowly.

Another place we recently went to for the second time in several years. We were in the neighborhood for packet pick up for a local race and we decided to give this place another shot. The decor is amazing. Everything was essentially amazing. It's such a cute place and sometimes there's a line going out the door because it's so crowded. Definitely go early!

Molletes with eggs

The Molletes with eggs was tasty but light and great to start my day mmm. The waitress was so friendly and always checking if I needed anything . What I really appreciated was that we were talking about the Molletes and she asked if that was the first time trying it? I said yes she said they added a twist to the traditional Molletes and if I don't like it please tell her and she would get me something else. I love trying new things and this was absolutely delicious and service was amazing. The decor and ambiance well the pics tell it all! I was so relaxed and comfortable! Great experience will be back

Delicious! This place has some really good food. The theme is just wonderful! I love all the painting they have around the place! The food was amazing and delicious BUT the best part was the cafe de olla!! It's a must try. Our waitress was super nice like we've known each other for years!

Wow!!! I have been wanting a really good Mexican breakfast for quite sometimes now we actually park down the street. We're heading to one restaurant. The parking was bad so we walked all the way down to a different restaurant and accidentally discovered freed up place and what a discovery we made it is absolutely awesome, you will not be disappointed with anything on the menu and the servers and employees are the nicest people you want to get a bit crowded reservations are accepted. The space is a little small but cozy very clean and very well appointed in the art on the wall, definitely museum quality.

Service was great , the ambiance was inviting. The music made the mood more pleasant. The food was great.

Several golf trips to the U.K. (Britain, Scotland, Wales) I got my fair share of excellent Fish & Chips; the best being in Ullapool, Scotland at The Seafood Shack I have never had better! But, leave it to Chicago to deliver some of the best fish and chips I've ever had in the USA, here at The Dearborn restaurant in the Chicago loop. Everything about The Dearborn's signature dish just worked in every way: The fish was fried perfectly The fish itself was moist and delicious The chips (fries) were excellent The coleslaw was the perfect side dish The tartar sauce was scrumptious My Krobacher Pilsner paired perfectly with my dinner The service was spot on And sitting at the bar watching the NBA playoffs didn't hurt either. I did have a scoop of delicious salted caramel gelato that finished this meal perfectly. Having such delicious fish & chips a few blocks away from where I live is certainly better than flying "over the pond" (a British term for the Atlantic Ocean).

Regardless of the time of day and especially during peak hours, I would definitely recommend making a reservation to air on the safe side. The staff prepared our table super quickly and was very attentive- they really went above and beyond throughout the meal. I do not recommend skipping the drinks! I ordered the seasonal Si Se Puede, Tia mezcal cocktail, which was quite spicy and perfectly sweet. For appetizers, we shared the parkerhouse rolls. The rolls were soft and buttery with a delicious whipped butter spread. For the main dish, I ordered the Dearborn Burger. It was solid overall and the portion size was very generous. I tried the fish and chips as well which were excellent. Would definitely order this next time! For dessert, we tried the sticky toffee date cake. I liked that it was not too heavy, and the Heath bar crumbles added a nice crunch. My only wishlist would be to have more of that delicious sauce to scoop up! We left with ample leftovers and in high spirits. Definitely looking forward to visiting again and trying more of the menu!

Stacked unapologetically high, this burger is everything you want and more: juicy, perfectly seared patties layered with melty cheese, crispy bacon, and those golden, crunchy fried onions that take it completely over the top. Every bite is rich, savory, and just messy enough to remind you you're eating something seriously good. The toasted bun somehow holds it all together (barely), soaking up every bit of flavor without getting lost in the chaos. And then... the shoestring fries. Thin, crispy, golden perfection--light but addictive, with that ideal crunch that makes it impossible to stop at just one (or ten). They're the kind of fries you keep reaching for without even realizing it, especially dipped in that creamy, tangy sauce on the side. And let's not forget the drinks--just as good as the food. Refreshing, perfectly balanced, and the kind you sip slow while taking it all in (but somehow they disappear way too fast). It's not just a burger--it's one of Chicago's most iconic bites for a reason. Bold, indulgent, and absolutely worth every single napkin you'll need after. The ambiance inside is GORGEOUS!

Loved the 90s female R&B playlist they had going! Little Bad Wolf has been on my list FOR YEARS to try the burger! My husband got the burger with fried onions and I got some Bao because those also looked delicious and were a popular menu item. Honestly the 3 stars are only that high because of the service. Our server was friendly and attentive + the food came out hot and quick. Unfortunately, the food was pretty disappointing. The burger was swimming in a puddle of grease and just picking it up made your hands greasy + was dripping grease. The fries that came with it were floppy, soggy, and sad...but at least warm? I personally wouldn't order this again. The Bao were better, but small for the price and honestly were just okay? It was nice they gave you sauces you could add, but I found the Bao's to already have enough sauce so I didn't need them. Overall I left feeling confused and disappointed. I don't feel the need to come back here - Little Bad Will was a one and done experience for me.

Risotto is something I have been looking for since I tried many years ago at the now closed Pompeii Orland Park location. They had an amazing risotto. Well, Cindy's I have to say is even better. While I wasn't a big fan of the taste of my drink and dessert, my friend enjoyed both of theirs. Rather, the service was excellent and the views were amazing. My friend ordered The Rocher for dessert, which includes hazelnut cake, mascarpone chantilly, and smoked maldon salt. I ordered a Baked Alaska, consisting of citrus cake, lemon cream, toasted meringue, and salted white chocolate crunch. We both also ordered cocktails. I cannot recall the name of the drinks. I asked for my drink to be fruity and sweet, but it wasn't enough of either for me. The Baked Alaska was fine but too much of various flavors. I wouldn't fault the restaurant for the drink or dessert taste as I know others really enjoyed theirs. Our server was most attentive and very helpful. We found that making a reservation on Open Table only offered a certain number of time slots, and all of them involved having dinner and not just drinks or a dessert. Reservations can also be made on their website though we chose to speak to the front desk about a reservation. Going up to the bar is first come, first serve though. We ended up making an Open Table reservation and were told it was okay to only order drinks and desserts. Cindy's is named in honor of Marian "Cindy" Pritzker, a beloved Chicago philanthropist.
