This was annoying since she brought some iced red tea out at the beginning and never came back to ask if I needed refills. Have eaten here twice. Food is fresh, creatively presented, reasonably priced, and tasty. The ambiance is somewhat spartan. Apparently there is Karaoke some evenings because there's a piano in the corner. The sauces are offered sparingly, and if you ask for more, they come and squirt a tablespoonful out of a squeeze bottle. The place attracts health-food types, but it's also worth visiting just to try something different. Clearly, there's no other place like it in Austin. I had the $11,95 roast chicken (very tender and ample-- the $13.95 is unnecessary) and my wife had chicken salad wrap (which is not Chicken Salad, but rather some salad with chicken pieces in a wrap). I adore Fresh Heim. Their menu is perfect - fresh veggies, delicious sauces, meat always cooked to perfection and everything in great proportion. I love how they have a bunch of information about the food and food combining and you can really tell that they put care into the ingredients and their preparation. The way they have you choose options is simple, but dynamic enough that it's easy to accommodate whatever kind of taste you're looking for and everything just really works together. I'm a particular fan of the chicken salad roll, the noodles, and the ginger lemonade too. The staff are so great as well - I even accidentally left my bag there once and, knowing we had recently called in an order (yeah, so we got takeout for dinner and then showed up there for lunch the next day, what?), they found my husband's phone number and made sure we got it back. If you want a healthy meal and large portions of it Fresh Heim delivers. Upon walking in I first noticed the signs near the front highlighting the nutritional benefits of ingredients that they use. What impressed me most was that they make all their own sauces and dressings and they are fantastic. They sneak in healthier options like spirulina and using stevia as a natural sweetener. They also pride themselves of serving cuisines without added sugars, no GMO, No preservatives and no tenderizers. We dined in at dinner at was surprised with the hardy portions. I ordered the 6 ounce grilled chicken with Teriyaki sauce, the salad with baked potato. The salad was deconstructed and had lots of fresh veggies, fruits and the mustard sauce for dressing that was served on the side was excellent. I really liked they had fresh slices of avocado. The small potato was just the hint of carb I was looking for and was perfectly cooked. The chicken was cooked well but I think I will opt for the mango sauce next visit. A few items I look forward to trying my next visit is the hummus rolls, lentil soup, calamari salad the fresh juices that they make (must pre-order) and their variety of teas with listed benefits. My visit didn't go entirely smoothly because they were short staffed at the last minute. But I will tell you these folks were hustling and were genuinely apologetic. Don't be fooled by the name. Fresh Heim ain't no German restaurant. This is the finest ambiguously Asian food I've ever eaten. Every dish at this restaurant comes with a heap of healthy vegetables, instead a of heap of heart-attack like at 95% of the other restaurants in Cedar Park South (NW Austin). The meats are so fantastic that even Aaron Franklin's glasses might explode in jealousy. The Sweet Potato noodles here will have even an atheist believing in G-O-D! No way a human could have designed those without the help of the man (or woman, or transgender person) upstairs. I feel like i need to appoint myself Marketing Director of Fresh Heim. They are in desperate need of a name change, which I think would increase their business 5X. I only discovered the place because I used to visit the nearby Little Caesars (love that little roman cartoon character) on a daily basis, and I'd always see it when I parked. I never felt in the mood for German food, because how many schnitzels and soft pretzels can one man, even of my girth, eat in a lifetime? But one lazy Wednesday afternoon, I was vegging out on my Lovesac couch and binge-watching $40 a Day with Rachael Ray on Food Network and some Hitler Special on History Channel. That double feature had me hankering some German food, and I thought, what the H, I'll give that Fresh Heim a try today. To my surprise, it was some healthy Asian-ish food and I loved it. What a strange world we live in! Anyway, getting back to my new job, I think Fresh Heim should change the name to like Fusion Garden, Nat's Moon Garden (named after their best customer), or Korean Chuy's. Great food and service. We brought a friend in with us to check out this place. We are all fans of this type of food. We tried three different items from the lunch menu, all superlative. The shrimp lunch plate was some of the good stuff, you can choose 5 or 6 sauces for the entrée and a sauce for your salad, you can choose between noodle or rice, our friend went with the spicy red pepper sauce and it was very good. My wife had the sliced grilled chicken with the purple rice and the peanut pecan sauce, me likey! I had the sliced beef steak with noodles and salad and the same peanut pecan sauce.....everybody got a taste of all of it. Split two pots of hot tea, all excellent, herbal cinnamon spice tea ( our favorite) and dragon pearl jasmine tea. Would we go again? In a heart beat, our friend is going to bring her husband. The food and style of presentation is very similar to Nancy's Sky Garden in Georgetown, and that is high praise indeed, just more parking available at Fresh Heim. I had to update this from 4 stars to 5. I have been here several times since my first visit and the food is absolutely delicious and so fresh. The service is still completely awkward but it actually adds to the experience. If you're too high maintenance, either stay away or deal with it and savor the healthy plate of food in front of your face. This place is awkward meets delicious. Everything I have tried has been amazing and so fresh. I have been three times in the past two weeks since discovering Fresh Heim and I'm starting to think they are putting something addictive in the food. The rib eye is mouth watering, try it with the oriental sauce. I can't even explain how fresh the salad ingredients are (the waiter said the owner grows them himself).....I want some right now. Oh....and the peanut pecan sauce ....I think I'm in love!! I almost forgot -the hummus roll packed with veggies and dipped in the peanut sauce may be my favorite healthy appetizer every. Wait, it is! This place is about health BUT it doesn't taste healthy or gluten free or sugar free. A hungry, meat eating man will not be disappointed. Now to the awkward (which is the only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars). The decor/atmosphere is kind of weird and the waiter (I've only ever seen one) and chef/owner are an interesting combo. We stumbled upon this place and I'm so glad we did. So many fresh vegetables and fruits plus delish drinks and steaks. Very attentive staff. Clean. I most strongly recommend it for parents. This was perfect for our 10 month old who enjoyed all the fresh finger foods and was still delicious for us with nice dipping sauces. They have high chairs and were very sweet with my little man. Best tasting, best cooked, best value dinner we have had outside of our own home this year. You would pay $30 for the beef tenderloin in most restaurants; this one even comes with a wonderful fresh salad instead of a small bowl of limp iceberg lettuce. Well, at 6pm on a Friday there was only 1 other table with guests. The place is in a strip center and faces perpendicular to 183, so a little hard to find. The server was young and shy but friendly. We ordered house made lemonades which were delicious. The menu seems overly complicated when in fact there are only a handful of choices. They do spell out how to order though, and you can basically pick a meat, side and sauces. My wife got a filet which was cooked perfectly, and I got a chicken breast which was flavorful albeit a tad undercooked. The teriyaki sauce on chicken was great. Steamed veggies were very fresh tasting, however were very bland. The dipping sauces were good, but some seasoning or cooked with sauces would be better. Almost ripe pineapple, nice noodles and some avocado served on side. The chef came out to check on us, very friendly. We were lone diners for almost 30 minutes, however a couple of to-go orders went out. Overall a very healthy option, but nothing that screams "must come back". read more

I work nearby and stopped in to try it out for an early dinner. I was surprised to see an extensive menu of health teas, fresh juices, and fresh squeezed lemonade. I went with lemonade. It was incredible! For my meal I had the chicken breast with salad and noodles. The chicken had the most amazing teriyaki sauce. Noodles didn't need any seasoning. Salad was dressed with peanut and pecan sauce. It was a very colorful salad with 5 piles of shredded veggies. Our waitress explained that all the sauces are made in-house, no preservatives, no meat tenderizers. I will definitely be back! Great food and sweet caring service. Oh. My. Gosh. I went here for the first time for lunch today and was blown away. It's in a strip mall (which I'm learning quickly that many good north Austin restaurants are..) in north Austin. I placed an order to go. Next time I would call ahead to do this because it's a mostly dine in place (so it seems) but the server took care of me while I waited (no more than 15 minutes). The food was extremely fresh. I got the chicken with salad and rice. It came as a deconstructed salad so I basically ate the fruit first and then mixed the rest together with the peanut sauce on top. It was a generous serving, however I was hungry so I ate the whole thing but didn't feel gross or bloated afterwards. If this place was closer to where I live I would come here at least a few times a week for lunch. $10 for this meal is well worth the money. read more

After all the great reviews we read about Fresh Heim, my husband and I had to try them out and we were not disappointed! What makes them different from other restaurants we've tried is that they prepare all their food simply - not an over abundance of seasoning and butter! You can choose to eat them as they are (and they are great as is) or you can dip them in a variety of sauces that come with the meal. We were very happy with our meals and will definitely be back!! We had the sirloin (a tad over cooked) and the pork belly - both were very good. The noodles as a side were very tasty!! The husband and wife owners of Fresh Heim are awesome too!! The food was excellent, beautifully prepared, and healthy. The staff (all family?) were friendly and welcoming. The decor is restful and peaceful. This restaurant serves healthy portions. The lunch specials ($9-$12) include a palm size portion of meat, a scoop of rice, and the rest of the plate filled with fresh salad or veggies. Lunch options include tofu for the vegetarians. At Fresh Heim, the salad and veggies are not served as an afterthought, they are in many ways the star attraction. This is the way we should be eating. Several reviewers said they felt hungry soon after leaving. If your stomach expects a 14 oz greasy steak, a bathtub full of french fries, and a few limp lettuce leaves for lunch, it isn't going to know what to make of the lunch here. It will probably tell you it is hungry because that is the only emotion it knows how to express. This is one of the few restaurants where you feel healthier for having been here. I arrived on a Friday for lunch with 10 very hungry co-workers. When I first walked in, it smelled like something was burning. I mentioned it to the greeter (who ended up being our waitress). She just stared at me. We were seated at a table that didn't have enough silverware or menus for all of us. I asked for menus and silverware, and once again was met with a stare. We had to ask for menus, water, and silverware several times until we finally got them about 30 minutes later. I was one of the last people to get water (30 minutes after I arrived, by the way), but even before my water arrived, I got water spilled on me. Worse even, one of my coworkers got hot tea spilled on him. Not good. About 45-50 minutes in, the food finally started to arrive. In shifts, which we all know is a bad sign. It got worse when it was quickly apparent that all the dishes they were bringing in were not the ones that we ordered. We then found out that they were missing about half of our order. It was getting late and we had to go back to work, so we ended up cancelling the rest of the order and sharing the dishes they did manage to bring us. The food I tried was delicious. All the elements were chosen for their nutrients and how they combine to elevate the meal to the next level of healthy. (Not surprising that the menu was designed by a nutritionist!) And the noodles, well they were sublime with a delicate soy flavor. I still can't believe that they were made from sweet potato. Others at the table had chicken breast and pork belly. Some opted for the roasted vegetables with baked potato. One of our party was celebrating a birthday so we ended the meal with a beautiful fruit platter with roasted nuts. OMG! My Mom and I had the most wonderful lunch here today. The vibrant meals here are incredible - beautifully plated, colorful collages of deliciousness. And really good for you to boot. We came in this Saturday and were greeted by a very polite man who showed us to a table along the wall in the middle of the restaurant. While I'm not a big fan of the pink walls, the decor was actually...cute. Like a cottage garden theme but with a tropical flare. Its strange but I kind of liked it. He took our drink orders, one ginger lemonade and one red tea lemonade and brought them both back after a few minutes. Delightful, perfectly blended lemonades. We both knew that this was going to be an awesome experience. We ordered the chicken salad wrap with the ginger almond dipping sauce, the seasonal soup, (winter squash) as well as the chicken and vegetable lunch plate. What the waiter brought back was, to say the least, gorgeously plated meals that looked incredibly fresh. So we dug in - immediately. My meal, (the lunch plate) was divine. Spring greens under a purple - what I believe was jasmine rice, under juicy and moist chicken slices, with chopped and steamed cauliflower, carrots, and broccoli circling the plate. They punched it up with a side of sliced avocado and two whole strawberries. Topping all of this was a tasty, slightly sweet sauce and black sesame seeds. Everything was so, so good. I ate almost all of it, and I'm not ashamed to say that. My Mom's chicken salad wrap with dipping sauce were also excellent, and her soup, although she felt it was a bit on the too sweet side, was also really good. It was garnished with pine nuts and almonds and was served in a super cute little bowl. All of this was for around $26.. you can't get better than that. Fresh Heim is one of the most delightful restaurants I've ever been to. The food was simple, fresh and well done. And that's what it's supposed to be all about, right? Like all the other reviews mention, this place offers super fresh, whole-food, mostly plant-based meals with an Asian twist that are affordable and delicious. You get a TON of food, and it's all so light and healthy that you can scarf down the entire plate (like I did) and not be regretting it for hours on end. I've been to Fresh Heim once for lunch and 4 times for dinner now and it's excellent every time. It's not perfect but I can't bring myself to remove a star for any of their imperfections. PROS: The food is SO delicious. The rib eye is one of the best restaurant steaks I've ever had. If you get a steak, skip the sauces. Steak sauces are for crappy steaks. This steak doesn't need it. The chicken thigh is also great. I get it with the mango sauce. All the fruits and vegetables that come with it are super fresh and delicious. The steamed veggies are plain by themselves but the sauces that they provide compliment them very well. My favorite is the mustard sauce but the almond ginger and peanut are also great. All sauces are served on the side so you can use them at your leisure. I also love the sweet potato noodles. The portions are quite reasonable. The presentation is very nice too. The prices are great for the quality of food. Other restaurants would charge $5-$10 more for the same thing. The chef/owner is super nice and often comes out to check on patrons. Service is quite good too. My wife and I were in and out in under an hour on a Saturday night. The location is great for me because I live pretty close and we need more good restaurants in north Austin. CONS: Marketing. There are some things I would change about the restaurant if I ran it but they are almost all marketing related. As other reviewers have mentioned, this place should be packed for every meal. The selfish part of me is glad that it isn't. The restaurant theme is hard to describe. They focus very much on the healthy/nutritious aspects of their food but that message alone doesn't really do justice to the quality and taste of the food. Neither do the following: The name. Apparently "heim" is the German word for "home" but this isn't German food. I have no idea if that's the intended meaning. It's sort of Asian but definitely not typical Asian if that makes sense. The menu could definitely use a rewrite with better descriptions. Same with the website. Atmosphere is ok but could use some work. This isn't something I particularly care about especially with such great food. If they skimp on decor to keep the food prices reasonable, that's all fine by me. Same with the strip mall location between a liquor store and Mexican restaurant. The space used to be a cafe called JAMRZ and they didn't redecorate much with the change. The only non-marketing thing I can think of that's a negative is it seems like they only have one guy making the food. Hey, owners of Fresh Heim. Pro-tip. Bacon is not good for you, and Stevia sold in the US is anything but natural. Leave the pork belly to the Gastropubs. This restaurant has some weird combinations of things going on. It's almost as if they don't really know what they want to be. If you want to be a steakhouse, have more than two cuts of steak on the menu. Where is your prime rib? Same for your soups. Two soups, that's it? You have a billion hot teas and iced teas on the menu, and two soups. Why is soup one of your categories? The only thing worthy of a yelp category that you serve is your salads. I wasn't impressed with the chicken breast and salad I got, it was pretty, but the chicken was really dry and obviously overcooked. I expected better for 12 dollars from a restaurant with a full 5 star rating. Then again, your 5 star ratings is a little suspicious. Your first few reviews are 0 friend 1 review yelpers that opened an account, left you a review then disappeared. Then there's like 6 deleted 1 star reviews.. maybe you can pay yelp to improve your ratings after all? Not to mention most of your reviews read like an ad-copy. I understand wanting to drive business to your new business, but there's a right way and a wrong way to do things. read more

Hubby and I both thought the food was cooked to perfection. The meat was moist tender and well seasoned. The steamed veggies just tender not mushy or tough. Really that's an art. The place was very clean too. However when we walked in there was an overpowering propane smell and the refrigerator was whirring quite loudly. Also the waitresses clearly didn't have much experience and they were both painfully shy. They never introduced themselves never smiled never asked how the food was. Also the decor was odd. What's with the pepto bismal pink wall? Also the sauces were mostly too bland or too spicy with no warning on the menu as to spiciness. The mango sauce on my pork was just purred mango and it clashed with the seasoning the pork was cooked in. The balsamic sauce was just balsamic and oil. Um that's not sauce it's salad dressing and I don't want it on my steamed veggies. Hubbies oriental sauce was good. I will ask for that next time.
