Delicious! My friends encouraged me to join them yesterday at Fresh Heim. After a stressful 45-minute drive in the rain and dodging two accidents, this place immediately relaxed me and put me at ease. This place deserves the five stars 100%! We started the meal with the shrimp roll and they gave us the suggestion of the peanut and almond sauce. They were both amazing and the roll felt freshly made. The chicken with teriyaki sauce was moist and delicious and my steak was cooked to perfection. I really liked how big the salad was and I really like the noodles. They had a purple rice was also delicious but the noodles are perfectly seasoned and great with the salad. I was almost dragged to Fresh Heim by my neighbour, who is trying to get healthier. I am not a fan of Korean food; but I was amazed by the taste. Food can taste great without going to the extremes of spices, oil, fermentation or anything. The chef (is the owner, I think) knows how to balance flavours. OMG everything here is SO good!!! Very fresh, and everything is good for you. So much thought and care goes into each dish and no worries about sugar laden gluten filled crap. We've eaten here several times and everything has been top notch. Took my daughter here for her birthday dinner as we are both on fairly strict diets (elimination and PCOS) and there were many suitable options. So being a nu-comer to Austin, there are 2 subjects that folks readily comment on: Drivers & Food. This Review is about the Fresh Heim experience I enjoyed a month-or-so ago. The time of day was after the lunch crowd had left and so the room was busy but not crowded. The atmosphere was calm with subdued but not dark lighting. The restaurant is located in a moderately sized Mall with parking for twice as many shops. Frankly, had my friend not strongly suggested that we eat there, I'd probably have passed it by numerous times thinking: "Fresh Heim" what's that mean, but never stopping in to find out. Big mistake! The Menu broadcasts things like healthy, balanced, fresh, and more. As it tuns out, it's all of that and more. I had a chicken & salad dish. My friend had something similar but not identical. We both ordered ice tea. The food was excellent: healthy, balanced, fresh and extremely tasty. But of course, "Taste" is in the mouth of the Taster and we all know how that can vary from mouth-2-mouth. That said, I was very satisfied with the preparation of my meal. But, I must also comment on the "Presentation" of the food on my plate. Simply outstanding! An artistic arrangement of food that begs to be looked over, then commented on, and finally consumed. A visual joy to behold that I can only compare to some of the dishes served to me in Japan. Fresh Heim is a special place. It deserves to be visited by local's as well as visitors. Fresh Heim lives up to its name with salads that are a treat to eat and perfectly cooked meats. So far, I've tried the sirloin, ribeye and grilled chicken and all were nicely cooked and seasoned. They offer a creative array of sauces to go with the meats and salads. The Oriental sauce with its minced peppers and onions gets a big thumbs-up. To me, the real star of the show is the salads - made up of artfully arranged greens, shredded vegetables, fresh fruit and perfectly ripe avocado slices. The sweet potato noodles that are served on the salad plate are satisfying and flavorful without being heavy. Fresh Heim is a great place to go when I want to eat healthy AND have a really nice meal. The calm and pleasant atmosphere of the restaurant is refreshing compared to the many loud and hectic restaurants in Austin. Fresh Heim was described to me as "healthy food that is delicious." Riiiiight... At the urging of my wife, I agreed to try it with her for lunch. Admittedly, the smell does make your mouth water when you walk in. I ordered the tofu with a spicy sauce, noodles, and salad. When the plates arrived, it was obvious that they were carefully prepared and given a lot of attention to detail. It came out looking like a work of art and tasted like a work of art. It might have been just in my head, but I swear the boom of my mind being blown could be heard throughout the restaurant. Everything was absolutely amazing. The spicy chili sauce on the tofu was the best I have ever had. It was a perfect compliment to the well cooked tofu slices. The noodles were cooked in a sesame oil and were similar to chap chae that you get in Korean restaurants. Then, there was the almond ginger dressing on the fresh salad, which was incredible. At first, I thought it might be a little heavy with ginger, but I could not stop eating it. Everything was fresh and light, and did seem like healthy choices. Delicious is not a strong enough word for how tasty and well prepared the food was. There is no doubt I will return frequently. We went there for a Wed evening dinner and found no wait Very unassuming from the strip mall exterior but the inside was small but nicely decorated with a simple Asian feel. We were greeted by a pleasant hostess/waitress and got seated immediately. The menu was a bit limited for younger children (our youngest was 11) but we were all able find something. Was a bit disappointed in the lack of creative vegetarian options other than the tired soup and salads. Oh and speaking of soups, it was confusing to see the menu mention seasonal soups but when asked, we were told it wasn't the season yet as if summer was not a legit season... Odd. The surprise came when they brought the food out. Every dish was immaculately plated and perfectly prepared! The chef was obviously professionally trained and could have easily cooked for a much higher end restaurant. Every bite was delicious! The only big disappointment preventing me from giving a higher rating was due to the waitress. She never seemed to remember to check back on us and our drinks stayed empty for quite a long time. One of the things that drew us to try this restaurant was the dedicated gluten free menu. It's discreet in a strip center, and has a comfortable atmosphere. The cinnamon tea was aromatic and delicious, and encouraged some of my fellow diners to have a pot as well. I started with the hummus roll paired with the mustard sauce and the flavors were incredible and blended beautifully. The grilled chicken and salad were served separately. I went with the noodles, which were made of sweet potatoes and had a delightful flavor and texture! The peanut pecan sauce for my salad was light and subtle, and so good! The chicken was juicy and the accompanying mango sauce was fantastic! Do note this is not a done and dash place, come in and expect a relaxed meal. We just ate here. The owners/servers are very welcoming. We were greeted with a clean place. And oh! The pillow at the end tables near the restroom was a comfort to my 3 y/o. It clicked to her taste. Holy moly I am in love. This is so yummy. This place is SO close to my house and I've just never paid attention to see it. I placed a to-go order for the chicken thigh salad with fresh veggies, mango sauce, and almond ginger sauce. It all tastes amazing. Maybe my fav meal in a long time! They also have JAPCHAE! Or as others know it, the sweet potato noodles. I had no idea the owners are Korean. Korea has my heart forever so eating here is even more special to me now. Anyway, come eat here.
