I have been to all the other Fresco locations, so I was eager to see how this location compares. Our party of 6 visited on New Year's Eve. First thing I noticed was the beautiful decor. Second thing I noticed was they have many four person tables that quickly convert to six-person round tables. Round tables are so much more conducive for conversation for six people. For apps, we ordered the calamari, the brussel sprouts, and the fried mozzarella. For dinner, I ordered the salmon. It was just as good here as at all their other locations. My wife ordered Chicken/Eggplant Napoleon which she said was outstanding. Our friends ordered the Rack Of Lamb, Seafood Stew, Baked Stuffed Shrimp, and the Ravioli w/Steak - all got rave reviews. I was so excited to try the new Fresco location in Smithfield and I was not disappointed. We decided to check it out on Friday. To start, the restaurant is gorgeous. But, more importantly the service was fantastic and the food was as expected for a Fresco location. I tried the 'Main Street' , Bully Boy vodka, elderflower, fresh lemon and sparkling. It was very light, aromatic and refreshing. We did the angus bruschetta (an old fav) for an appetizer. So tasty! For our entrees, I enjoyed Linguini and Clams and my fiancé had the Chicken Parm. Our entrees were hot and flavorful. Service was knowledgeable and attentive. We are looking forward to stopping back in next time we are in town. read more

I have eaten here for several months and my main concern is consistency. About 3 weeks ago had filet of sole piccata which was the best sauce I have ever had. Fish was fresh and good portion. Last night , repeated the sole meal as it was so good the last time. However, the sauce was near non-existent, lacked flavor was served a very small portion of fish and the fish looked as though it had been dropped on the plate and was in pieces. I hope you can create greater consistency among the chefs to increase dependability for the diner. read more

We decided to try the Smithfield location because it was close to home. Now that we've been cheated, we will never go back. We started with the Caprese salad, the tomatoes were bland, under ripe and oddly loaded with dried oregano. For a main meal, I ordered a Mediterranean salad with a piece of salmon. Now, normally, there's an up charge for the protein with a salad, but not here, they went for the, bait and switch. When we got the bill I was charged for a full salmon dinner, which was more expensive, hold the sides, substitute with salad and a $4 up charge for the feta. Paying at least $20 more. Started with fried calamari with lemon garlic sauce which had no taste. Ordered the veal Parmesan. Have always loved Fresco's other locations & the newest doesn't disappoint! We had a drink at the bar while we waited for our friends to arrive, great remodel of the area, the bartenders were prompt & attentive. We had dinner on the Beautiful Patio, I had my favorite fresco dish steak carbone with the house steak sauce, it was cooked perfectly, my friends all opted for the chef's specials.... Salmon teriyaki, linguini with scallops scampi style & surf & turf (NY strip with grilled shrimp). They say the upstairs will be an upscale lounge by fall with dancing, small plates & a new cocktail list. I can't wait! read more

Recently started going to this place. I prefer this over the original restaurant, Blackies. Ever since my family and I discovered this place, we have not stopped eating it. My favorite is their Ravioli, it's so good! Their cheese and red sauce is perfect. If you do get their fries though, I would recommend salting them, but that's my only slight complaint, although it's not much of one since it can be fixed very easily. Their mozzarella sticks are also super perfect. They are crispy and warm with a ton of gooey mozzarella cheese. read more

2nd visit to this location. Same favorites (calamari, aranchini) as Cranston and EG. Waitstaff is friendly and knowledgeable. Kitchen is very accommodating, but I'm learning to let chefs do their thing! I hate pesto, and on my first visit I had the house salmon, ordering it without the pesto cream sauce. It was fine, but last night I had the salmon SPECIAL, and without my meddling, it was AMAZING. Cooked perfectly, and the spinach, goat cheese, grape tomatoes and artichokes were just a perfect combo. Where to start, while the server was nice she had no business working in this position. She had to ask us what the drinks were that we ordered and brought out the wrongs drinks on multiple occasions. When asked what the specials were, one of them was a tomato bisque. She wasn't sue what the word bisque was and spelled it out to us and we had to tell her what the word was and how to pronounce it. Then we showed her that the specials were on the page and we would just look at them ourselves, it was painful really. Moving on to the food, while the bread and dipping oil was amazing, the short rib pizza with caramelized onions was very disappointing. There were no onions at all on the pizza and whatever cheese was used was too much and made the pizza very cheesy and soggy. The short rib was just okay. Another member of our party order the tuna steak and asked for it to be seared/raw. This really confused the server as she said oh no they only come like medium, med well or well done. We had to explain multiple times how tuna is cooked and served. We felt very rushed to order as our server kept coming over asking us if we were ready every 3-5 minutes, and would continuously try to grab drinks to clear the table that were still half full. It was just a very rushed and terrible experience. My advice would be to make sure that your servers know the menu and can pronounce basic words prior to being on the floor serving your customers. read more

Delicious food! My new favorite restaurant! The grilled pizzas are perfection. My group had the specials last night and everyone loved their meals. My gnocchi with pesto cream sauce and shrimp was outstanding. The grilled swordfish was fresh, flavorable and moist. Even the bread with chili oil for dipping was crusty and delicious. The drinks are very good. Great value all around. The only con was that it was very loud on a Saturday night. read more

I hope you like butter. Our food was way saturated with butter and salt. It was almost inedible. Our server was very inexperienced. When we found out we could get a bottle of wine for $12 cheaper we asked to switch and he wouldn't, Even though he didn't tell us about the deal. He said he already charged the glasses. He brought the wrong soup for my husband and didn't insist on switching. Kind of seemed annoyed we wanted good service for the price we were paying. Dessert came with olive forks. Not sure if they were out of normal forks but seriously olive forks? I love supporting local but this place did not make me feel like I had a nice night out when their prices are somewhat expensive. read more

Party of 4 Saturday night May 7th. Figured we we give this recently opened business a shot, as I have dined at the East Greenwich location a few times before and enjoyed it very much. We ordered drinks to start, and the server brought us drinks that did not match up with what we ordered. Bread was not served to us, we then asked for some bread. We asked for 1 straw, we had to ask again for the straw. We then ordered 2 appetizers, they arrived quickly and they were delicious (fried calamari and the black angus bruschetta). We then placed our order for entrees. The entrees arrived a short time later, one of the entrees was not what we ordered. It took 20 minutes for the correct entree to be served. How were the entrees? I'll say good as the party enjoyed them, but they were average meals, nothing that I would categorize as being spectacular. To sum it up, my 3 star rating reflects poor service by my server and mediocre food on this particular evening. We were not charged for the entree that was served to us late. The server could have benefited from utilizing a pen and pad to write down our order instead of trying to recall the order from memory; that would have been much better than forgetting what we ordered / serving items that we did not order. read more

We went to the Smithfield location last night for a girls' night out. We met at the bar for a drink and had reservations in the dining room afterwards. The bar was beautiful and had really delicious appetizer specials for happy hour (4:30-6:00). We had the appetizer goat cheese and caramelized onion flatbread, and homemade potato chips with blue cheese dip. Both were outstanding! Our bartender Karen was beyond good! She was very professional and extremely knowledgeable of the food menu and drinks, but she also had THE BEST personality. She really made us feel welcome. We enjoyed her so much that we all decided to have our dinner at the bar! For dinner we ordered meatballs, butternut squash ravioli and salmon. Delicious and very generous portions! We are looking forward to when we can get back to Fresco and enjoy happy hour with Karen again! read more

We picked a very rainy Labor Day to have a diner with friends at Fresco and it exceeded our expectations. On Mondays, they have an extensive 'diner for two' menu ($39.99) that includes a bottle of house wine and salad, which cannot be beat! Two of us had the Chicken Marsala from this menu, which was prepared perfectly, with home made mash potato and vegetable of the day (a medley of zucchini, carrots and broccoli). The chef nailed it! The BIG surprise was my wife's Swordfish Chop, (off the regular menu) which is very tender, flavorful and is served on the its collar bone. THE best piece of Swordfish any at our table had ever eaten! Our server was outstanding and benefited with a generous tip! Will revisit this venue again soon. read more

I recently went to dinner and tried this location out. Usually I'll go to East Greenwich or west Warwick but decided to go out of my way for this one. Getting in it looked nothing like the old blackies here but instead a brand new decor. I got a whipped burrata which was delicious and a mouth watering salmon. Gotta be the worst place to eat in RI. The server/manager short chubby man with glasses was definitely not fit for this position. While my family we're waiting for our drinks my father had overheard him talking about marijuana referring it as " that fire " to another server. While we were eating our dinner he was being very rude and yelling at other employees in the establishment. Very unprofessional in my opinion. He was very pushy and made me feel rushed.
