    iced vanilla latte ($5)
    Chassidie L.

#15 in my NEW ENGLAND & NY COFFEE SHOP SERIES A solid coffee shop with cute vibes, good drinks, and a simple menu. They have a large community table as well as a few others for those who want to study and do their work. I got an iced vanilla latte and thought it was very good! However, if you do not like sweet drinks, I would not recommend. All their coffee prices are pretty standard. We also ordered some food and to be honest, we waited like 30 minutes for it. It was understandable since there was only one person cooking, making drinks, and taking orders. She did give us some pastries as we waited. Overall, I would go again to study if I was in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.

When I decided to check out Frenchie's Coffee Bar, I thought the name was based off a person but it's actually centered around French Bulldogs and I fell in love immediately with the interior! Of you're a dog lover like me, you can feel how at home this place feels. In every direction this is a different top statue, painting, decoration, and more, the grass outline was so cool! I decided to get a caramel matcha which was DELICIOUS! I never thought to get caramel with matcha but the combination was seriously so good and i'm already craving it again! I also decided to try their pork belly sandwich and I was seriously blown away. the pork belly was SO tender and tasty and this sandwich is fully loaded! there is plenty of eggs, arugula and it's served on a big croissant! and the prices are great - $8 for this sandwich is seriously a great price and for this area! Frenchie's is highly underrated and needs more attention! And the staff is so nice and friendly, this place is very inviting!

Cute place! Smelled really good in there when you walk through the door. Great service! The barista was very friendly and kind. Definitely set the mood for good food and coffee! The menu was a good size, and the prices were definitely fair. I ordered a large iced chai tea latte. Very simple and it tasted amazing. I'm going to go back and try their specialty drinks! I live close by but never checked it out all this time. Def will put them on my list of favorite local coffee shops!

Really great spot to sit and read or catch up with a friend. Lots of group seating available and do not be afraid to stop by as a party of one!!! Comfy chairs or couch seats available and lots of drink options. I recommend a caramel iced latte it was so smooth and quickly but efficiently made. I'll be back to try some more items for sure. Great music!! Air conditioned as well!! Thanks to the kind barista!

I visited Frenchie's late Sunday morning while in the area. I had seen positive content on IG and also a strong Yelp review rating from prior searches. The coffee bar/cafe is in a small nondescript plaza. Inside was small, cute and very busy. They had live music and were serving breakfast and pastries to a packed house. People were also ordering drinks to go. Service was a bit distracted, although there was a lot going on. I ordered a black iced coffee and they initially handed me a hot coffee. They corrected it right away. My iced coffee was good. Smooth. Rich. Above average. But not great. The food I saw on the tables looked very good. I would definitely try Frenchie's for breakfast. The pastries at the counter looked decent. They had a round croissant, which is a cool offering. Four Stars. I would visit again if I was in the area.

I've really been enjoying this coffee spot , great customer service. Food is good and the space is cozy . I also love that it's black owned.

I never knew they existed because of their location behind Main Street, but when I went there with my friend, I found their breakfast sandwich so good and their Reese's special latte especially superb! I want to go back soon!

Ordered a large mocha and brought it back to my hotel. This is the level to which it was filled.

In town for the weekend for a friend's wedding. Consulted Yelp to see where to get a good cuppa joe and was pointed here. I will say that the coffee is very good. The space is cute and clean (lots of French bulldog stuff everywhere) and the staff were friendly and smiling. BUT... (there's always a "but," right?) I ordered a large mocha and brought it back to my hotel. This [in the attached photo] is the level to which it was filled (no, I had not had a sip when I took the lid off). Like I said , the coffee is really good, but... really? Close to $6 for a cup of coffee; fill the cup, please.

Just stumbled across this place and decided to visit because i love small businesses, I ordered a latte and the Waldorf sandwich but, when i arrived my food wasn't ready. They offered me a pastry on the house which was so nice! Everything was delicious

O, yes please!! I strongly recommend this place. The owner is sooo welcoming and attentive. We received excellent coffee, cookies, and even cake even though we didn't order it. When you go to get just a good coffee, but receive coffee and much more, then this is the place to start your perfect day.

Had a wonderful first experience at frenchies this morning! I went in and tried their strawberry matcha and it was delicious! The shop blends together the love for coffee and dogs and has a good amount of seating! The shop is very clean and the staff is extremely friendly. One of the baristas Tiana prepared my order today and was very vibrant and bubbly! I highly recommend trying out their spinach and feta bistro pastry! Might be my favorite thing on their menu right now!

NEEDED IT. When I first heard about Frenchie's opening up in Stratford, I was so excited! With several big-name chains or mediocre shops around, I always crave a more intimate experience, and Frenchie's has delivered. The owner, Patrice, and her staff are incredibly welcoming and kind - honestly going above and beyond to make sure my latte was crafted just the way I liked it. The espresso was top notch and they have a great machine to deliver your coffee in whatever way you prefer. Did I mention the pastries? You've GOT to try the cronuts - they've got a variety of cinnamon sugar, caramel glaze [my fave], plain glaze - and really large croissants, quiches, and warm waffles too. Yum! The menu is great, but so is the space. They've created many seating options for whether you need to quickly get some work done, or work remotely from there all day. I particularly love the seating around the fireplace, super cozy and warm, especially with the cold weather coming in soon. You can't miss the adorable frenchie decor and art all throughout - super cute :) All in all - I want to make this a daily destination! I do wish the storefront was on the main road vs. behind the plaza, but it is worth the tiny turn to stop in. Plus, there's plenty of parking available. I stopped by this morning, and I'll probably be back tomorrow!

    Waldorf Sandwich

TLDR Nice little coffee bar. Friendly staff good food. For sure a vibe and solid recommendation if you're in the area. Vibe Quiet, lots of sunshine, my type of place. Food Food is good. I had a Waldorf sandwich which I really enjoyed, and the Pork Belly Egg & Cheese is solid. Friends had pastrami sandwich which they said was good. I will say though I like their choice of bread for their sandwiches it's like a croissant bun. Excellent decision. Coffee Is good nothing crazy or artisanal but solid offering.

They have a dining room that seats about 50, and a bar that seats around eight. They also have a very cute outdoor seating area covered by a large awning. The menu is Continental cuisine leaning toward Italian, and is very well balanced where everyone should he able to find a satisfying meal. Our experience began with a couple of very unique "East Side Martinis", vodka, cucumber, muddled mint and lime.....so good I had to have a second one! We were then treated (gratis) to the absolutely best bruschetta I've ever eaten.....loaded with chopped tomato, onion, and garlic. Fantastico! For an entree I had the Maple Glazed Pork Tenderloin Medallions with mashed potatoes and braised cabbage. A perfect melding of complimentary flavors. This restaurant clearly has no issues with making very flavorful choices when it comes to spices and accents. The wife had the Chicken Special with fettuccine and lemon butter white wine sauce that was also very flavorful and excellent. Everything was so good that we had to get dessert, a slice of Almond Joy pie to go. The owner, Sue, a baker / chef, is typically in attendance, and has heen running the restaurant for ten years now. Our server, Jen, was attentive and experienced. They have a Happy Hour on Monday through Friday 3 to 6 pm. I'd highly recommend this place for everyone! UPDATE: Ate the Almond Joy pie the next day. The crushed almond & chocolate crust was incredible, and the chocolate glazed coconut was delicious.

In a display of restaurant solidarity , they recommended that we try Vinas Wine & Tapas. As it turned out, we have a NEW favorite in New Haven! We arrived a bit early and were cheerfully greeted by Mike G, our server. The atmosphere was welcoming and relatively quiet, since their musical offering does not start as early as our 5:00-7:00 PM time slot on a Tuesday. We had asked for the waiter Christian because he had been mentioned in several of the Yelp reviews, but Mike proved that the service compliments should go to everyone. First, the tapas: We enjoyed all five of the tapas we chose. The "Calamares" were lightly battered and crispy. The Vinas salad was fresh, with tomatoes, cheese, corn, and croutons. The pork belly was delicious and more meaty than expected . The oyster mushrooms were presented with onion crisps. The baked birria empanada was stuffed with brisket style beef. Each of these "courses" was a unique delight to the palate, and for me and my partner, it was completely satisfying. In keeping with the spirit of a "wine bar," Vinas offered a flight of 4 wines in 3 ounce glasses, and after hearing about our food choices and wine preferences, Mike chose the wines for us, giving us a chance to taste some less familiar offerings. We had the Felino Malbec 2024 (Argentina), which became our favorite for its full-bodied and deep flavor. Our second wine was a unique Don Abel (private label) from Wallingford CT, made by one of the relatives of the owner, specially for Vinas. This one reminded us of the local wines one might receive in a B&B in the Loire Valley in France. The final two wines were both from Chile: Reserva Carmenere 2023 and Cabernet Sauvignon Marques de Casa Concha 2022. Both were excellent wines. It was great fun to have Mike choose the wines for us, and we really enjoyed the variety that the flight offerings gave to us. Of course, we had to try a dessert, and Mike recommended the Toffee Cake. We had heard that the owner claimed that some people cried with joy after eating it. Although we restrained ourselves, we had to agree that this was an extraordinary conclusion to a fabulous meal. Overall, this was a great experience for us, and we heartily recommend Vinas Wine Bar and Tapas for a relaxing and welcoming dinner. Some reviews I had read suggested that the portions were too small for the price. I have to disagree. My partner and I love food, and this was plenty. And the price was reasonable. Including tip and tax, we spent about $75 each.
