After doing a bit of research, my wife and I decided to use Freedom Solar for our solar panel installation. While they weren't the cheapest option, they were definitely the best bang for the buck, in my opinion. I worked with Zach to figure out what hardware was needed, and Freedom solar did the rest. The system that we came up with perfectly meets our needs. The company was incredibly easy to work with. They took care of the entire process for me, all I had to do was sign a few places and pay. They even arranged the loan for me. The process was relatively quick, and handled professionally throughout. I honestly have nothing negative to say about my experience with Freedom Solar! read more

I don't write many reviews, but because it is a bit overwhelming to choose a quality company these days, in an industry that seems controversial, I wanted to share my experience to help someone else that's feeling the same way.  It started at my work when someone mentioned they bought their house with solar on it and the utility bill was averaging around $20 for the whole month. That seemed very attractive given that I spend an average of $150.  I went on a few websites and wrote down a list of the four most commonly recommended companies in Texas, and checked how long they were in business, etc.  After meeting with all of them, it was without a doubt Freedom Solar who seemed the most honest and genuine. I liked that they used the industries top equipment brands and had been in business for nearly two decades. A company that has lasted that long surely are masters of their craft. I have had the solar installed for 7 months so far and I don't regret one part about it.  Highly recommend them, they are the heavy hitters in Texas. Jason P was an upstanding rep for them read more

We chose freedom because they had what appeared to be a good warranty and pledged good service. They are much more expensive than the other companies. But once we paid, they stopped replying to emails. And once installed, our system had some panels that do not work - and I cannot get anyone to come out and look at it or help. When I can get someone to rely, they promise to check and never do it. This has been going on for about 1 1/2 months - so I dont think anything is going to change. Maybe its my bad luck, but I regret paying the extra money for this company. read more

The sales rep was great but the company is not well organized and seems to be chaotic. They had an ad on Facebook and some of the negative comments were the same incidents I experienced with Freedom Solar. They seem to be super busy acquiring clients but fail to retain a decent service level. Their electrician failed to show up on the agreed upon time. Finally showed up over 2 weeks later. They applied for a second loan when I added more panels, instead of modifying my initial loan. Now I have a dent on my credit report for money I never received and shouldn't owe. I called them but assigned my case to a sales rep who is busy trying to sell panels. A grave matter should be priority. I am filing a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau then most likely we will end up in court. read more

I was so excited to have freedom solar instal our panels. We cancelled with another company we were working with because they convinced me that they were the way to go. We worked with Our sales Rep August and got signed up in January 2022. That was the only good thing that came out of this. We've had delay after delay and nobody is taking responsibility for the next step. It is now almost Septemeber and we still have no panels on our roof. Sent emails and voicemails but nobody seems to care. The last thing we were told to do was to ask the electric company to approve the installation. The electric company told us that there is a installation fee. Freedom solar said that they would pay that fee so we went ahead and approved it. Now Freedom solar has disappeared and is not getting back to us. Really disappointed with this company. If their customer service is this bad to get the panels installed imagine how bad their customer service is if there's an issue with the system? read more

My goodness, our experience with Freedom Solar has been phenomenal from beginning to end. Starting with our initial consultation with Jason Pfeffer, who did such a great job of clearly explaining what it all would look like, how things would go, the benefits, & realities of what to expect. The install crew was phenomenal as well. The head of the crew answered my questions with such confidence & knowledge that it reassured me of everything I had just said, "yes" to. We are so pleased with how everything went & has gone so far. I love being able to see how much we have already saved & how many tons of carbon dioxide emissions we have saved by going solar (on the app). We are so grateful that we not only went with solar, but that we found & worked with Freedom Solar. What a great decision! read more

We recently moved back to Austin and purchased a home in Dripping Springs. Driving around we noticed several homes around had solar panels. That started the wheels turning. After receiving 3 quotes we chose Freedom Solar. The SunPower panels are superior by the objective numbers. Once we made the decision we had a quick turnaround and the Freedom crew kept us up to date throughout the process. The installation crew was courteous and displayed their care of our home. Our panels have been active for a month and have performed as promised. We have at no point questioned our choice. read more

Freedom solar was professional and communicative from the first contact. Spencer Sobolik did a great job walking us through the system design, process for installation and close out to review how our system was performing. The panels are working great and we're very satisfied so far. read more

Rob and his team were not only some of the most professional individuals that I have ever dealt with, but they kept you informed with EVERYTHING that happened along the way. There wasn't a time that I was questioning where were at in the entire process and they were able to get my system installed ahead of time. The installers were impeccable, professional, courteous, and had a great attention to detail. Everything was done to spec and they left absolutely no mess behind. Then Rob followed back up to let me know what to expect and answer any final questions. I was so nervous about going with solar since there are SO many providers out there, but Freedom Solar and Rob were HANDS DOWN the very best in the business!!!!! read more

We had Chase come around for a quotation and consultation that lasted 2 hours. He left without giving us the pricing and promised a follow up call 3 days later. We never heard from Chase or Freedom again. Total time wasting exercise. read more

Sigi at Freedom Solar should be avoided. I asked for a quote for a 4kW system install on a single story 7/12 roof and they would not even quote a range without a meeting. From reading previous quotes they are expensive, and were not forthcoming with prices. So I passed Update: Sigi is just a scheduler, but failed to tell me that. Training may need to be looked at. read more

Trami was an amazing person to work with. She, as my advisor walked me through the process completely and answered all my questions. She even encouraged me to get other quotes before making a decision. Once I chose to go with FS Trami and the rest of the team constantly checked in on me during every step of the process to make sure I was good, and that everything was done to my satisfaction. So happy I went with this company over the other quotes I had. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I couldn't be happier with the installation and the results thus far. Seeking technical support to answer a few questions was handled quickly, and folks were very knowledgeable. Having the Enphase tool to monitor the system makes monitoring the system very simple. read more

truly disappointing interactions with freedom solar who refused to even send someone out to provide a quote. already in process of getting quotes from several competitors, however freedom solar rep, supervisor and manager who's names I have all refused to even schedule someone to come out and look at the property due to trees on the property. However they are looking at 10+ year old satellite images which don't actually show the current trees or the property accurately with the added garage and carport. utility concierge actually recommended this company at closing but I have written them to share the terrible experiences and recommend they go with other available companies locally or nationally like Vivint solar. Initially I called for a quote and explained the trees and they said that's okay we will send someone out to give a quote and explain which trees need to come down and refer us to arborists they work with in the area. But today the rep, the supervisor and the manager all refused to schedule someone and said call back to schedule a quote after removing the trees, but didn't specify what trees need to be removed or offer any referrals. Truly disappointing, dropped the ball and looking forward to working with a company more invested in their customers and more willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. read more

5 stars for the system and installation 2 stars for the service after sale I am a Freedom Solar customer. I purchased a 9.27 KW Sun Power solar system that I am very happy with. The system is performing as advertised. The sales and installation process were fantastic. I am extremely happy with my purchase. However, the service after the sale was not good. My electric bills have been on average -$10. I currently have a credit with Austin Electric. My system has been running since late December. I spent almost a decade in industrial and commercial sales. I was a manufacturers representative for steam and hydronic systems. I specialized in Steam Boilers and steam systems. I also specialized in hydronic systems and pumps. So, I have quite a bit of experience in construction and sales. I left the industry in 2007, to pursue other passions. I mention my background because I feel it is relevant to my experience with Freedom Solar. My Salesmen's name was Robert Bradshaw. He did a fantastic job on earning my sale. I really dug into the technical details and asked a lot of questions. I pitted Robert against another salesman from one of their competitors. I even showed each salesman the other's bid. Robert was helpful, informative, gracious and handled my sale like a real pro. I was a very difficult customer and I know it. I can not say enough about his service in gaining my sale. However, once all the paperwork was signed, and the permitting was finished and I was handed off to the installation team, his service really dropped off. I had a really difficult time getting answers after the sale was closed. It took more than a week and multiple emails to get answers. I realize he has many customers and earns a living from commissions, but given how well he handled my sale, I was extremely disappointed in his service after the sale. When I would email Robert, he tended to give me a stock answer rather than looking into my particular sale and finding the answer I was looking for. In particular, I had issues getting my Friends and Family rebate from Sun Power. Robert assured me he had taken care of the paperwork on February 23rd, when in fact he did not turn in the paperwork until April. I have had issues with my solar System's reporting features that I have asked about on 3 separate occasions. They have never addressed the issue it has been 9 months since I brought up the issue and it has not been resolved. i have tried to contact 4 different people at freedom and no one has returned an email. The issue is minor and does not affect the system's performance. I am very happy with my purchase and their installation team, but I am extremely disappointed in the service I received after the sale. I was going to include this in my closing survey rather than go to social media, but Robert took the survey away from my wife as she was filling out ofter she was only able to answer 2 questions. Once, I signed the last check, i was completely ignored. I recommend Freedom highly, their system is outstanding I feel like any big issues were addressed in a timely fashion. However, Their service after installation in dealing with minor issues has been terrible. Do not sign the last check until your system is !00%. read more

We had Freedom Solar install panels on our house in Rockport, Texas. Federico was our sales rep and walked us through the whole process. He was very professional, knowledgeable and obviously likes his job. The free evaluation provided good information on what the setup would look like and its performance. They provided all the necessary information on both the Federal and utility rebate. Through their affiliates, they arranged for a low interest loan for the residual cost and a zero interest loan to cover the Federal tax credit. There were no out of pocket expenses and the installation went smoothly. There was a minor hiccup when the electrical interface between our wind turbine and the solar panels created a unpleasantly noisy control box, but it was quickly re-engineered and is now perfectly quiet. I did the first full year's analysis of the production recently and found that we produced electricity in excess of what was necessary to cover the cost of the loan. The excess is sufficient to cover nearly two months of air conditioning down here on the coast, so this is a considerable value-added. One word of caution for folks considering installation. The local utility companies do not have to by back your excess production in Texas. That will alter the financials of the investments, so do your homework. Green Mountain Electric is our provider and buys back the excess. read more

I called around to see about getting solar for my home. I have a few large trees and knew it would be difficult. Calling around, Freedom Solar was the only company that would agree to come out and assess my home. Everyone else looked my house up online and would not even come out. Unfortunately, I was not able to get solar on this house. But, I can assure you that this company is top notch and I highly recommend. Next house, they will be the first ones I call. read more

In a Word "Awesome" company! These guys are top notch. As the other reviews have said they are super responsive and for someone like myself that had lots of questions this made all the difference. I called up Freedom Solar after getting several other quotes and actually just canceling a contract with A/C Solar Solutions. Talk about timing... They had just given a presentation at my wife's company and she asked me to give them a call. Over the phone I told them about what I was looking for with system size and the panel options I was considering. Within a few hours they had pulled my home information off the net and had a proposal with size and quoted cost. They walked me through all the details and the pros and cons on the systems I was considering. They were SUPER respectful and you could tell that they have a customer first mentality that's not just words on a page. You could also tell that they have a passion for what they do! and Adrian specifically, I'm super glad that I was fortunate enough to have him as an installer on this project. He took the time to answer my even more questions, show me the details of my system and gave me his cell phone number to ring him up if I had other questions. And he answered when I called! They worked around my crazy travel schedule and had the panels ordered and installed in a matter of week. They ensured all the needed information was submitted to AE to get the rebate. They also came out to meet with the inspector and ensure that everything went smoothly and that any issues would be quickly resolved. And last but not least, the install comes with a product lifetime service/labor warranty from Freedom Solar, with Freedom monitoring production. There were a few hiccups through the process, such as Austin Energy modifying/reducing the rebate amount and some gutter downspout clearance stuff but the first was not something that Freedom could control and the second was quickly resolved. I recommend this company HIGHLY! Actually, my neighbors have been asking me to let them know how everything goes as they are considering installing solar as well and I HAVE recommended Freedom and will continue to do so... Freedom Power - Residential Install by Freedom Solar - Solar Installation Near Me - Austin, Texas

We took the plunge into solar in the summer of 2014. Between falling solar panel prices, federal rebates, and utility incentives it made sense. Both financially and feeling good about producing energy from the sun. We got quotes from a number of companies. We decided on Freedom for a number of reasons. One the only offered us micro inverter systems. These produce more energy, more reliably than something called string systems. Second they used panels made in North America. The panels and inverters had good warranties. They also offered true no interest financing for a year which allows us time to get our federal rebate. So the price and panels were good. Then the installers were efficient and pleasant. Reps were always available via email or phone. Output so far in the first two months has met or exceeded projections. Note we are in Oncor service area so not just Austin offers rebates although Oncor can run out of rebate money later in a year. Over all highly recommended you at minimum contact Freedom and I recommend putting them at the top of your list. read more

Horrible sales team, won't take no for an answer, don't give them your contact info, they will never stop calling. I clearly stated they were overpriced, I don't want them to do my solar and to stop calling me. I would definitely recommend Freedom Solar Power for installing Solar panels. They are too good. I personally recommend Jason Guthrie whom i worked with throughout our home project. Jason is very knowledgeable about solar panels. He explained everything about solar panels. He is very professional , answering phone calls, emails. He was very patient enough to explain all the questions. Freedom solar power is one of the few installers in central TX who install Sunpower panels. The installation crew did a great job in finishing the installation in 2 days. They did not cause any damage to the roof. Obviously they were very competitive on the prices compared to other dealers. Jason Guthrie did a great job in designing the layout and shading analysis. He got up the roof where other solar panel installers did a google view of the roof layout. Overall a great experience working with Freedom solar power. Go green and go with freedom :) read more

The best words to described Freedom Solar Power is "the Dept of Consumer Affairs/ BBB" Please stay away from this subcontractor. I installed the 16 panels in 12/2018 and has been living with a nightmare and frustration from the Freedom Solar Power. Thank you for the hail storm in my area that my home insurance policy covered the removal and re-installation. However, the 16 panels are taking up my backyard spaces. I am in the process to file a complaint with the BBB with their Contractor's assistance. Freedom Solar power company reps are great with saying "We're sorry and apologize" and no accountability. I have had emailed and verbal conversation with both the billing department, Vicki Johnson and the Manager, Dougg Soester to explained why my production is not the same as the first year. The can't provide a straight answer nor documentation to prove it otherwise. I will do a follow up review after the Freedom Power investigation and filing the complaint with the BBB agency. My last word is "STAY AWAY from Freedom Solar Power" if you want a peace of mind and save your buck. read more

The Freedom Solar team has been phenomenal this week. We currently live in a home that is less than a year old and we decided to get solar panels. Well there happened to be a leak in our roof which we had both the roofer and The Freedom Solar panel team come out and assess. However, the roofer did not want to do their job and blamed the leak on Freedom, he was very dismissive and just continued on about it being an issue with our solar panels. The Freedom servicemen continued to assess the leak over a few days and they sealed and resealed their intrusions. However, there was another leak and again I called out Freedom and my roofer, well Freedom identified that the leak was from the roof, they also provided me with pictures. So of course the same roofer came out and looked at the pictures and assessed that the ac seals were not properly sealed. So he seals one side of the roof, but the other side he did not because he said the solar panels needed to be moved (which they did not need to be moved). So I called and tried to schedule appointments to get Freedom and the roofer out and the roofer dispatcher told me by having solar panels that voids my roof warranty and they wanted to charge me $200 for just coming out to reseal an issue they messed up on. So since Freedom knew where the leaks were coming from the manager authorized them to come out and seal up the spots where water was leaking. She could have easily said, ma'am that's not our problem, but no she took time to assist me and the team came out with delightful and prompt service to make sure there was no leak. I truly appreciate Freedom because there could have so much damage done to our home, but they made it a point to assist us immediately! Freedom we truly appreciate everything you have done to help!!!! read more

I'm in the industry on the utility-scale solar side and was pretty thorough in my search for a company to install a 6.8 kW system on my roof in Austin. Such a disheartening experience. I will just say that once you make the mistake of adding solar panels to your roof you are in for some shocking news should you need to remove them and replace them for repairs. Wait for it....$2700 to remove them and another $2700 to come and put them back up. That is $5400. How many months to recoup the costs of that when you haven't recouped the cost of having them in the first place. But don't forget to add the cost of the roof repairs to that and now you may ask, who can afford this? I really want to be green but this was an unexpected disappointment. In addition, if we wanted to get a bid from another company for removal and replacement, they said we would lose our warranty on the panels. What kind of professional service is that. I am sad to learn the downsides of going solar. Who knew? Just ask all the questions you can think of, or put your panels somewhere else! read more

Freedom Solar didn't waste any time and got right to it like they said they were going to do it. James Garbo was very knowledgeable and provided a plethora of information! James displayed excellent communication skills throughout the entire process starting before our initial phase. My family always knew we would get solar panels and when we were in process of getting our forever home completed, we reached out to Freedom Solar and had the pleasure of linking up with James, he stayed in communication with me for over 15 months, the entire duration my home was getting built. The process for getting my solar panels was seamless, I can honestly say it was the easiest process I have ever experienced! I watched them put the panels up and everything that was needed. He also explained to me what they were doing, and how and why they were doing it. James was always available to answer questions that I had. Panels were probably installed and we haven't had any issues thus far. I love my panels and Tesla battery and they put out everything that was expected of it so we're very extremely satisfied. read more

Today's update. We are still without a complete installation. I was told my situation was up grated to priority. Originally I was told I wouldn't have to pay a bill for the first two months once the system is turned on. I was also told everything will be ready to go before the end of December 2022. No wiring installed, no batteries connected and I'm now told the next step isn't until January 31st. This means I owe a payment on this in mid January and it won't be hooked up. Tried to talk to the bank the financing went through, they repeatedly said they couldn't help because Freedom Solar has already been paid. They never asked if the job was done. The recommended bank we are using filed for a lean against the property now and want us to pay for them putting a lien on it. We said no. Waiting to see where this goes. Should be interesting. No way I would recommend Freedom Solar. The only reason we are making what progress we are, I keep calling everyone that is accused of slowing the progress. The only common denominator of the project being held up, Freedom Solar just not getting this done. Now they been paid I have no idea how long this will take. Please find someone else for your solar needs. Freedom solar is one company to stay away from. read more

Federico and the whole crew at Freedom Solar were fantastic the whole way through with my Solar PV system. Federico answered all my questions during my initial consult. The system looks really cool and I couldn't be any happier with doing my small part to minimize my carbon footprint. Very disappointed with Freedom Solar follow through after I agree to purchase the Solar Panels, service during the pre-sales phase was top notch, emails and calls were responded on timely matter but once I signed a contract service did a 180, email or calls are not responded, is up to me to call them to get a status update on the progress of my installation. People seemed not inform or not care about providing a response, those time I was able to get a hold of somebody their response was that they were still awaiting for the necessary approvals even when they had already sent me an email confirming that all approvals were received and after one of their customer service representatives confirm all approvals were on hand I have called several times and left several messages, latest update was that I had to wait for the installer to call me to make an appointment, this was 3 weeks ago and so far I haven't heard back from the installation dept or customer service Very disappointed on the post sales service, on my last message (since nobody answers) I stated that I wanted to cancel my purchase based on my post sales experience, you would think that will prompt somebody to call me, nothing, that was 2 days ago I haven't receive an email or call back. I was really excited with this purchase, now I question if this is a good decision, if this is the type of support I can expect after they complete the installation it may need to rethink my purchase read more
