Just left my roof with holes draining rain into my attic. A roof inspection revealed their destructive work a couple months after their installation because we had a hail storm and I needed the roof inspected. Update (June 2025): Since my original review, I escalated the issue to Freedom Solar's executive leadership team. Despite being fully informed of all details -- including photo evidence, roofer evaluations, and subcontractor conduct -- they chose to maintain their denial and push for a settlement that avoided true accountability. Their final offer was $950 toward repairs -- but only if I signed a legally binding confidentiality agreement requiring removal of all negative reviews, prohibiting future criticism (even by future owners of our home), and keeping the agreement itself secret. I declined. Freedom Solar continues to insist that the leak that appeared came from "condensation" inside the bathroom exhaust vent. This ignores the obvious path: water traveled down from improperly sealed roof shingles, along the outside of the metal tube, and into the ceiling below. Our roofer confirmed this was caused by the poor repair work left by Freedom Solar's subcontractors -- not internal condensation. We have since filed formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Texas Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. This is exactly the kind of evasive, anti-consumer behavior that Texas Senate Bill 1036 is designed to address. read more

Providing an update here. Colorado Tax came back to me on my tax rebate for the battery and required me to get a breakdown battery cost vs. the rest (initially only had a lump sum invoice). Freedom worked with me on this and I was able to finally get my tax rebate from CO after a few weeks. This was well after I had paid my final invoice so was very happy Freedom replied quickly and was helpful. Other than that, batteries and solar are working great! read more

Excellent at taking your money. Not so great at resolving issues. I've been told numerous lies, everything has been blamed for why something wasn't working (including me) and Trey speaks with such confidence, but everything he says is bogus. He directly contradicted himself and when called out he doubled down on his lies. He even blamed wi-fi for an issue clearly having zero idea how wi-fi works. You know that old stereotype where a mechanic upcharges woman because it's assumed they don't know much about cars. Trey is the mechanic. He talks over you on purpose in order to ignore having to resolve issues and it is ALWAYS someone else's fault. I had an error on my system for months and he said everything was working exactly like it was supposed to after 2 of their own electricians said it wasn't, Enphase said it wasn't and the phone APP that is designed to give errors when there is one said it wasn't. I've asked for my issue to be escalated. That's been ignored. I've directly emailed people from the executive team. That's been ignored. My next move is legal action. All because something isn't reporting properly!!! A stupid problem to have, yet, I still have it and they have no intention of resolving it. read more

STEER CLEAR AT ALL COSTS! Cancelled our install after 2 months of back and forth for reasons that should have been picked up from the VERY beginning before the contract was signed. The location of the meter and electrical panel are in a challenging spot on our house that ultimately would require the meter to be moved, and I had asked on our very first day during the consultation BEFORE we signed anything if it would be a problem and their engineers and regional manager James confirmed it would meet code and wouldn't be an issue before we signed the contract. Two months later, and a new HVAC and roof later, we're told that they are canceling our project because they aren't willing to take on moving the meter and don't want to deal with the project anymore. I asked about us covering the cost to move the meter with a separate electrical company first, and they said that they would not work with us even if we did that. I cannot believe a company of this size could not have foreseen this issue or resolved it issue, especially since I pointed it out on day one. All in all, there was poor communication throughout their team from day one and they completely wasted our time. They have no empathy and are not willing to work through any hiccups along the way. So if you do decide to waste your money with Freedom Solar, be prepared with an absolutely perfect, up to date for the current year, electrical system or they will back out after months of dragging their feet. They were happy to cancel the contract and there is absolutely no recourse for them backing out. They wasted our time and cost us thousands in other upgrades at their recommendation and a hit to our credit for the loan that ultimately will go unused. I implore you, look elsewhere if you're trying to install solar and you'll be much happier. Don't give this company a cent of your money or a second of your time and you'll be much happier. read more

They worked with me and put my 'wishes' into the plan. My air conditioner's compressor started making a racket on Saturday evening. After a search for someone open on a Saturday evening, I finally found Freedom HVAC. They were able to come that evening. Carlos was so very nice and was able to fix it, although he warned that it was a temporary fix. He explained everything he did and showed me the results of what he did. The freon was very low. For some reason, getting it to the level it needed to be stopped the racket. I really appreciate him coming and fixing it so that I could get through the weekend with a working air conditioner. Of course, due to it being a weekend day, and in the evening, it was a bit expensive. I was willing to pay it to have air conditioning, though! read more

Freedom Solar was out,along with the inspector first thing to make corrections. It was done in two hours. And the Tesla app was pumping out favorable data. We recently had our roof replaced and decided it was the perfect time to add solar to our house. Our roofer had a company they recommended, so we spoke with them. The entire conversation and process was shady at best, so we began speaking with other companies including FSP. After researching and comparing companies online (local companies that advertise, Costco associated, and other national companies) we concluded that for the cost of adding solar FSP was the best option. This included overall price, company reputation and long term support/warranty. The entire process, from start to finish, with FSP was outstanding. Electric Corporation in my area was bringing in the policies that goes against installing solar, so I was waiting for a verdict on that. By the way I didn't get an email or a call from them at the time of the appointment yesterday confirming that 'I am a waste of time' for this Rep. Hello, I have to say I am disappointed in the communication process with Freedom Solar. I started the process and signed a contract back in November to go solar and the first couple of weeks communication was great but then after the New Year communication has been non-existent. I have no idea what is going on with my project and when the Installation will take place. I am at the point where I now want to inquire about canceling my project and going with another company. If anyone from Freedom Solar monitors Yelp please call or email me. All of my information should be on file. Update: I called Freedom Solar's customer service line and was told I should receive a phone call either Thursday 2 March or the day after. No one ever called. I've had Freedom Solar installed for 7 years. The sales and installation went off without a hitch. Freedom quickly took my $21,000. I'm retired and disabled so I can't go climbing around on my roof. You never really know how good a company is until you need service/support. My panels stopped generating power a few weeks ago. I didn't realize it until I got my power bill showing that no electricity had been generated. I went to Freedoms' website and the 'may I help you' chat popped up. When discovered I wasn't a new customer, I was quickly directed to the support website where I filed a report and filled out their form requesting to know why I contacted them. The form had a few non-helpful questions, but no (system not working) option from the drop-down menu. Nothing pertained to my situation. Also, there was no timetable for how long a response would take to get back to me (10 days and still no contact from Freedom). I wasn't sure if my web form was actually submitted or if their support was so overwhelmed with problems, they hadn't had the time to pick up a phone. A couple of days later, I called the "support" phone number and tried all 4 options. After a couple of minutes on each option, the phone call was disconnected from their end. I tried calling their sales department and the call was answered on the first ring. It's not like I live in the middle of nowhere; I live 4 miles away from the Freedom office in Austin. It's painfully obvious that Freedom Solar doesn't care about their after-the-sale customers or their equipment problems. Buyer Beware! We have been customers of Freedom solar since installation of our solar power system in 2022. I am not sure how their prices compare to the other solar companies, and may be higher, but the service and quality of the equipment are outstanding. It is important note that we did not use their payment plan, instead paying cash. It got us a substantial discount. We were only able to do this because we're retired and could pull the cost from a retirement account. Having looked at the payment plans offered by most solar companies, I don't think we would have gone with any of them. It seems that you break even, or save a modest amount at best on the payment plans. Owning our system outright means we immediately paid a lot less for electricity. So, if you can pull together the full cost, or only take out a modest loan go for it. Otherwise, put your money away and save for retirement. read more

Freedom Solar has gone dramatically downhill during the past 9 years. Avoid them if at all possible. When I got a solar system from them in Nov. 2016, they were good to work with. But by the time I had them install 2 powerwalls & an EV charger in May 2022, they'd turned into an impenetrable bureaucracy resembling the IRS. Most recently, I discovered that one of the breakers for the powerwalls had failed because of their faulty wiring, yet their Service Coordinator, Brittany Hodge, wanted $471 to repair their own bad work under a 10-year warranty, even though the part costs $20 & the wiring could be fixed in 2 minutes. When I emailed her asking about that, she didn't reply. Luckily I'm moving the powerwalls with me to Colorado next week, so I don't need their bad breaker & certainly won't be paying them $471. Up there I'm dealing with a small firm that's giving me a lot of personal attention. Also, I learned that a few weeks ago they laid off the excellent salesman I'd enjoyed working with, even though he was just a few years from retirement. Freedom Solar is now a huge, inefficient, greedy, heartless company. The name "Freedom" is just the opposite of what they've become. BTW I've read their replies to negative Google reviews, & they're "form letters," all saying something like this: "I'd like to apologize for your experience and thank you for giving us this thorough feedback. This is certainly not the experience we want our clients to have. We are escalating your account to our customer care team, and they will be reaching out soon to help. Our goal is to offer you a great experience from installation all the way through to any service needs you may have, and we hope to earn back your trust." It's pathetic and extremely frustrating. I was even told I wouldn't need to make any payments until 2024, which is great if it had been completed before then. They haven't even told me the loan company I'll be paying back, so I'm just waiting for the collections agency to give me a call and a letter for payments I haven't made for the product I haven't even used yet at whatever interest rate the loan is at. My panels got nailed from large hail, freedom solar emailed me saying they could provide a discounted estimate for repairs. I had previously used Freedom and enjoyed that experience, but this time I feel like I got scammed. I paid the $200 estimate cost, received an estimate, then tried to schedule a repair with them based on that estimate several times, and never heard back again. They took my money and then didn't give a crap. Just an awful experience, go somewhere else. read more

While the installation of my solar panels went well, I'm not having significant problems with warranty service on my panels. I had 1 panel faiil and the end of July. I expected SunPower (the panel manufacturer) to notify me since they have the monitoring data to know it failed. But apparently they don't bother to have that set up. When I checked the panel performance on their app and saw the failed panel I reported it to both SunPower and Freesom Solar Power on Sept 1st. It's now Sept 26th and I still don't have a service appointment. The communication from Freedom Solar has been very poor. It seems like Freedom Solar has a monopoly in Austin on warranty service of SunPower panels, otherwise I would be looking for someone else to service my system. read more

She listened to my concerns about the initial wiring and provided partial reimbursement that I was satisfied with.
