Most definitely not my cup of tea. The only thing I have liked from here are their fries which are thin, crispy and delicious. The fries are actually the only reason they are getting two stars. Their burger patties are strange. They taste like leftover shredded beef that someone decided to mash together and try to fry. I have tried their burgers twice and was disappointed both times. I know this is their style, but I am not a fan of it. So the third time I was there, I decided to try a hot dog instead. The bun they serve the dog on is also strange. It is a thick texas toast type bread. The bread is too think for the dog, so all you can taste is bread. I might return one day to try their custard, but I fear it might just be another disappointment. read more

I was super happy with the experience. It wasn't crowded and the staff was friendly. I went with my best friend and 14y/o Godson who is hesitant about eating everything. HE LOVED his food. We loved ours. The fries were fresh and shoestring sized which I actually liked. Then it came time for what we really wanted to try. The frozen custard. One server was so friendly and asked if it was our first time there. I told her yes and that I was from the D.C. area and she suggested trying a simple mixed single scoop waffle cone. It was great. Wandered in wanting a frozen dessert, decided to get a sandwich as well. I told the girl at the counter I'd never been there before and she asked me what sorts of stuff I liked, gave some recommendations, etc. for both a sandwich and a custard flavor. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was friendly, helpful, and seemed to enjoy being there. They offer fry sauce; as a recent Utah transplant I really was pleased with that surprise. Bought a kids meal and upgraded the fries to cheese curds. They were chewy and over salted. You ever chew a piece of generic gum that kills your jaw? That's what they felt like. Returned them- told the girl they were very chewy. Her response "they're cheese". Ya. Thanks. I've had cheese before. I've had cheese curds before. I've had fried cheese curds before. I've never had to chew 34 times to even break the cheese curd down. My kid wouldn't eat them and he loves cheese curds. The woman refunded me $2. Which was what they charged me extra to exchange fries for cheese curds. When I asked for the fries that came with the meal that I paid for the lady was even more rude. Very disappointed in the whole experience. The Broadway location has horrible food and the customer service is even worse than the cheese curds! read more

I went in the drive thru to get a large order of cheese curds and a dr pepper. 2 items. When i got to the window i was told i can only pay with apple pay inside, so i go park and walk inside because i already ordered it and didn't want to be rude. I get to the counter and tell the lady at the counter the situation, she seems like she cannot comprehend this situation, and goes to ask the boy at the drive thru to confirm, we get it sorted, but then im standing there waiting for my order and the girl at the counter basically shoos me away and tells me it'll be at the window, which i'd assume it would be ready since i was in the drive thru when i ordered it, and didn't even give me a cup to get my drink might i add, had to ask for it after she shooed me away, and got my order at the exact same counter i paid at immediately after. very rude and poor service, not even minimal effort from the staff here. read more

Just ate here for lunch because we were hungry for a burger and friend recommended this place. It was a really good steakburger and since we are trying to eat more healthy we were even able to order it in a lettuce wrap with just mustard, pickle, and onion. Freddy's has to be one of, if not the best place to get a burger in Tucson! I have dropped in here the last few times for lunch, and lemme tell ya... They are addicting! They have a variety of sides on their menu, but their fries are not to be passed up on! They are usually served hot, crispy, and right from the deep fryer! They also give you a bunch of them! They are sliced thinly, which makes them even more perfect! Don't even get me started on the deep fried cheese curds which are AMAZING! Chewy, crunchy balls of gooey cheese that melt in your mouth. Now their burgers are great too, but you have to remember, they are STEAKBURGERS. I would liken them to a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Oh yeah, and the best part about all of this is that I received my food fast, hot, and fresh through the drive through! The people serving my food have always been professional and treated me with the utmost respect! I went here because a friend of mine kept raving about their fries and their fry sauce. The food is good and worth the price. The fry sauce is OK, but nothing super special. The beef they use is good and can tell it's not your normal burger. I think I spent $9 for a burger meal with bacon. They have shoestring fries just like Steak N Shake. Great burgers & fries, friendly fast service. Probably my favorite fast food burger joint in town. I still love me some In N Out every now and then, but I got sick last time...so it will be Freddy's for a while! Their burgers are a throw back to the way burgers used to be. The way they SHOULD be. At least that's what I'm told anyway. I understand what people mean when they say that. The days before frozen patties, microwaves, and soggy buns. The pictures they have posted on their menu actually look like the finished product. What you see is what you get....no pump fakes or false advertising. The buns are lightly toasted on the grill. The steakburger patties are nice and thin....the edges crispy. The taste is nostalgic....everything I'd imagine a 50's diner burger to taste like. The price is a bit higher than other places, but I believe you get what you pay for. Their French fries are delicious as well. Thin and crispy, seasoned with Lawry's, or something similar. There is also the matter of their "fry sauce". It is similar to Thousand Island dressing, or In N Out's special sauce. It is pretty delicious. In my hope of trying to channel my beloved hometown Steak 'N Shake in Ohio, I visited Freddy's drive thru after work one recent Sunday afternoon. I noticed right away that their menu is much, much smaller than Steak 'N Shake, but was mainly concerned about the taste and quality of the food so I started with the basics-a double steakburger with cheese and an order of fries. It wasn't cheap, but again, I was looking to revisit a fond memory so price was secondary. I wasn't disappointed. The burger was perfectly cooked with loads of fresh flavor and toppings. The fries are thin, shoestring style, crispy and delicious. When I go back I will plan better, ordering smaller versions of the burger and fries with hopes that I'll have room for some frozen custard. read more

I went here the other day for lunch with a coworker. "Meh" describes it perfectly. It was my first time visiting Freddy's even though I have worked down the street for almost 4 years now. It was one of those lunch conversations where we were trying to figure out where to go for far too long, and after driving around for a bit we spotted the sign for Freddy's. Neither of us had been. We were excited! It was a first for both of us! It was a burger adventure!! Maybe we hyped it up too much. The place was very busy, and the 50's diner motif was cute. So we thought it was going to be an experience. Back home there were Steak and Shakes, and I had heard Freddy's be compared to those. I have fond enough memories of Steak and Shake, so I figured I was in for a treat. It was my first time being there, so I observed the menu. I didn't want a double, but I did want bacon. So, I ordered a single burger with bacon. Shortly thereafter, my number was called. My coworker took a bite of his burger first and was very disappointed. I couldn't handle disappointment at that moment after the first half of my work-day, so I dug into the fries first. I thought, "Hey, they are fries. It's like pizza. You can't really mess it up too badly." The fries were indeed good. Thin, crispy, salty. I gobbled them up. Now, it was time for the burger. The first thing I said was, "This bun isn't toasted!" I lifted up the bun to inspect it, and there was in fact a light toasting on the bottom. The top was so fluffy and doughy and room temperature; I didn't think that they had put in the extra effort. I took the first bite, and the first thing I noticed was the soft, squishy bun sticking to the roof of my mouth. Then, I tasted pickle and mustard. I thought, "No ketchup?". There were big thick strands of onion and globs of mustard and large pickles. I like pickles, but I felt like the pickle slices were actually thicker than the mashed down meat. I guess I should talk about the meat... It was charred, flat, gristly (which I don't even know how you do with a burger), and underneath the fluffy bun, large onion slices, and large pickle slices, I could barely taste it. They could really put any thin mashed protein in there, and it would probably taste the same. I personally feel like if the "Steakburgers" are the main show in your restaurant, they should be of good quality and not overpowered by the rest of the sandwich. I will not be back to Freddy's until they step up their meat game. read more

A low budget version of Culvers with higher prices and less taste. This was our first visit to Freddy's. The wife and I bought two burgers along with one fry and drink to share. It still ran us nearly $15. When we got the burgers, I almost laughed. "Steak burgers" my a.. The "steaks" were as thin as the slice of cheese, over cooked and had this really weird crispy/crunchy edge on them. One of the few fast food joints with fast service and outstanding, tasty and juicy burgers. My first time I was blown away with the cleanliness and old school "Great Customer Service". I've been there at least 10 more times and the food is still great. I will say that the positive and eager customer service has died down a bit not, but otherwise the quality of the food makes you keep on coming in. Great for the whole family!!! read more
