Rude Cashier!!! I have been visiting this store for many yeas now and there are couple of issues you can ignore but yesterday I had a really bad experience as one of the cashiers name- LAN , she very rude to all the customers.She pushed the carts and was babbling on her own, I felt very bad and saw that happen to other customers as well .I would really appreciate if the management explains her to be more polite and respectful to the customers. Look at you Fred Meyer!! Move over whole foods. But actually, I went in for the first time after this big renovation and remodel, and was thoroughly impressed. They've really stepped it up. It's gorgeous. The right side of the store carries many of the higher end, artisan and local new products. I noticed that they are offering more "luxury" grocery products than they used to. And the hot food/deli area is new and beautiful. They really stepped their game up compared to the old, dated, dumpy Fred Meyer that it used to be. When I was there, they were doing some customer give away thing, and it really felt like they were putting emphasis on customer service. Good job, keep it up!!! The facelift looks great ;) read more

It's a Freddy's. And a very large one. I went here because I just started working in Bellevue, and I needed to go to my credit union, of which there is a branch in this Fred Meyer store, and it took me 10 minutes just to find it! In every other Freddy's that I've been to, the banks, pharmacy, optical shop and what-not were in the front of the store, not the back, as is the case here. It felt like I was walking for miles and miles just to get to the credit union. I've been a pretty consistent customer of Freddy's over the years that I've lived in the Seattle area, and to me, this one was about the like the others, just much bigger. There is a definite appeal to the one-stop-shopping concept for us busy working moms, and I generally try to avoid Walmart if at all possible, so Fred Meyer is a regular stop for me. Things I like about Fred Meyer stores: -Obviously, the fact that you can get everything from clothing to camping equipment to groceries to hardware -Freddy's Playland - lifesaver when my kids were under age 5! -Great natural/organic foods section -Cheap decent-name-brand shoes, like Nike sneakers for under $50 -Better quality and prices on housewares such as dishes, sheets & pillows than Target. I like Target, but Freddy's is far better in every way in the housewares department. -Decent book section Things I dislike about Fred Meyer: -the bathrooms are generally decrepit and not the cleanest, regardless of which location you are in -bad produce section, just not very good quality -it's a lot of walking, therefore not a great choice if you just want to run in somewhere and grab something -bad rewards program Yeah, I'll keep going there for the stuff that I like! read more

I honestly thought you Yelpers were just pulling my leg about the sketchy feel to this place, but negative: the people here do seem strange! (And I've been there a few times, am I one of them now?!?!!!) I don't know what it is but no matter if I go midday or late at night, there are somehow magically tons of people here - maybe the bright lights attract them? - and none of them seem to know what they're doing. Some of the lanes are somewhat narrow and shopping carts are left perpendicular to the aisles thus creating even more of a road block... oh, and there are also people without any cart, basket or anything just slowly meandering about like they're on a stroll in the park. It's. just. odd. We were advised to check out their meat department for deals on steak because going to Costco to get a 4 pack of ribeyes is kind of not ideal when we don't have a ton of mouths to feed, Whole Foods is just too expensive to really be economical, and the Safeway meat is just scary to us even though it's cheaper. The meat prices seem okay for the quality but the only real deals still seem to be in the economy packs (no surprise) or the really thin cut meats which just aren't really our preference. For a quick fix, or a treat, it still beats out WF and definitely Safeway for price concerns and quality concerns respectively... but it's not an amazing discount or anything. There are some interesting items among the aisles, the produce always looks a bit picked clean whenever I've been there, and I haven't really checked out the non-grocery area. The parking lot is somewhat of a nightmare (but for no apparent reason apart from the odd people inside must be driving vehicles outside too). The employees, though, do seem friendly and helpful even though I haven't really needed any real assistance from them. I'll probably go back, but I won't be expecting very much... and I'll probably have to psyche myself out to be ready for the oddness inside... kind of shame too because the other FM I've been to have had normal shoppers inside. Store is pretty good The clientele is almost all minorities though. Most of which look like they just got off the boat. This is fine but be careful in the parking lot for pedestrian s not looking and inside you are likely to get hit by a cart or have someone walk directly into you or block entire isles by people who dont understand the right of way in America. The safeway nearby had almost no minorities, compared to here at least, so I'm really confused. Other than the danger of hitting someone or getting hit by someone its all good. read more

Huh? What is this place? It's looks like a Kohl's or JcPenney department store with a grocery store attached. Seriously. I found myself visiting Fred Meyer because of an accident. Literally. We've been potty training...and accidents happen...explosive ones. We were in such a rush to meet friends that I had inadvertently left a change of clothes behind. We desperately needed a change of clothes. ASAP. This store is cheap..lots of Buy One Get One Free items. I definitely would not agree that this store is a high end Target. At Target...I might actually wear their clothes...here for myself..not so much. I would say that it is much more comparable to a Walmart with slightly better quality goods, bull nose shelves and fake wood walls. read more

This review represents an anniversary. In 1998, May 3 was the day I flew to Sea-Tac to interview at Microsoft. I got of the plane, got my rental car, got onto I-5 instead of 405, recovered by taking I-90 to 405, and ended up at one of the Marriott properties Microsoft favors just north of 520 off 148th. I chucked my stuff into my hotel room, and drove to the nearest store... Fred Meyer. I don't think Freddie can take the credit for me moving here, though. I was then, and I remain, a three-star fan of this store. Jack of all trades, master of none, I end up at this store when I just can't be bothered to go to a few different stores to get what I need, or when I feel lazy on my way home from work (it's directly on my path, and it's good, because I can make a right turn in and then a right turn out. I HATE making left turns at commute time!) There are many departments here I've checked out once or twice... jewelry? Who cares? Shoes? Too expensive. Clothing in general? I've dashed in here when the kids have needed socks or I've needed pantyhose, and a few times I ventured into the clearance racks but still found the prices excessive compared to Goodwill or Value Village. The hardware section is OK though often to get what you REALLY need you have to schlep to Home Depot. They do have key cutting here... I've used that repeatedly over the last 15 years. The toy section and I are on again, off again; I feel the same way about the gardening and sporting goods sections. I will say that there's a really sweet guy who has worked outside in the garden shop for the past few years. No, this is mainly about two things for me... they have bubble-gum generic kids' ibuprofen (my picky son tolerates no other flavor), and they have a decent gluten-free section, both frozen and dry goods. I have little use for the meat, deli, bakery... all done better by Safeway, IMO. Their produce is good, but I'll only buy it there if I'm there for something else already. I've carried their rewards card for 10 years and it's gotten me almost nothing. They refuse to update my address -- "you've already updated it twice!" the rep scolded me on the phone a few years ago -- so any information is falling into a black hole. I keep meaning to just get a new card, but can't be bothered. LOL There are often random weirdos walking around the store (that is NOT a mirror I see!) but it is clean enough and there are usually enough staffers around if you need help. The prices here range from average to expensive, depending on the item. I can't think of too many items that you can't find cheaper somewhere else if you shop carefully... but you might spend more in gas driving around if you have a bunch of random crap to get. It's a good place to pass the time if you have a cranky baby that needs to be walked, and you might wander by something you "need". You never know. What's on your list today? read more

I am finished with going into this location. Debbie, the "macro photographer," does not know what customer service is. We went up to customer service, looking for a coupon because everyone in this store sends us on scavenger hunt for the coupons that are never hanging where they are supposed to be (this system obviously does not work-- just put it on the rewards card like everyone else in the modern age), and she told us that "any cashier could have done the same thing" and proceeded to ring us up. She spent forever ranting about how we could have gone to anyone in the store about it (I guess because she was getting hangry and wanted her lunch break, but chose to stay and finish the line with a scowl). The thing is, we weren't even ready to check out. We were just looking for the coupon and since no one on the floor was actually available (walked past three employees walking around the store on their cell phones. That's classy.). Really, all she had to do was tell us to bring it up to a cashier and then send us merrily on our way instead of talking to us like we are stupid. I've been on the other side of the counter and I know how customer service feels, which is why I'm normally incredibly tolerant of crappy customer service and I try hard to not make customer service workers feel like crap... but the thing is, I get it now. I am finally understanding why so many people are horrible to customer service workers... because there is so much bad customer service. Not long ago, I tried to check out and my credit card kept declining. It took five tries and two different cashiers to actually tell me what the problem was, which I immediately fixed (apparently the reason is printed out on a receipt! Who knew?). I had another problem where I actually brought an item to a cashier and she said that she couldn't give me the discount because I didn't have the coupon that was not hanging by the socks... And she told me straight up that I must not have seen it-- even though I looked everywhere. I am tired of the people in this location blaming their mistakes on me. read more

For me, it's all about the people, aka staff. I know Freddies doesn't pay well, and they get what they pay for. I don't normally smell funky smelling people unless I am on a downtown bus or in an alley. But there were some really bad smelling people here. And there were some seriously unhappy people here. This location is a little more, I don't know, "scuzzy" than other Fred Meyers. It just isn't kept as clean, the staff isn't quite as friendly as I would expect, and so on. The one thing I do prefer at this location though, is the shoe department! It's larger than the Redmond and Kirkland locations and always seems to have more sizes available. So if you're a bigfoot like me, you're more likely to find your own size here. Another pro: Starbucks in the store! Easy :D read more

I went there today and was looking at the padded envelopes for mailing, the normal price is 1.09$ and theres a sign that says 25% off all usps mailing supplies, which that was. I scanned it and it still comes up the same price and well as at the checkstand, I know its a small amount but the woman at the self checkout denied that it was on sale, I had a similiar problem buying a halloween outfit, they were on sale 50% off and it came up regular price and they made a big stink about it but the sign in the front of the store clearly said 50% off that specific brand of halloween clothing. I check these things before I buy it to avoid mistakes on my part. I don't trust fred meyers, I buy minor things like bread or milk but thats it. If they build a grocery store where Kmart used to be, I'm dumping Fred Meyers, and the employees are no picnic either. read more

Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on at this store? There is some serious redneck craziness going on here. We are only in the Seattle area temporarily and I do most of my shopping at Trader Joe's but I was sick of having to go to a separate store to get the things I couldn't get at TJ's; Enter Fred Meyer. I went on a Sunday around 11am. Bad idea. It was packed. It took me nearly 2 hours to get through the store. Where do these people come from? It looks like they climb up out of the ground to visit Fred Meyer, a la morlocks from "The Time Machine", and then descend back down once they've gotten their fill of pre-packaged convenience foods. The store itself is actually ok and the people working there were fine, but the clientele was scary enough to keep me from ever going back there every again. read more

This Fred Meyer is the bestttt. I've never been in another like this one. The produce and grocery section is HUGE. The whole thing is HUGE. You can even sit and try wine and beer at a wine bar, order food, ect. It absolutely amazes me every time I walk into it. Its incredible. Not to mention, they had some really really good deals going on The employees I've come across are very nice and extremely knowledgeable for it being so brand new. Great job here read more

First off: I LOVE FRED MEYER I have just moved to Northern California, and the options are _so_ upsetting when I visit this is the FIRST place I want to go to. This one is great because it is for rich people and their spoiled rotten kids, so you know it will have a wide variety of organic, gluten-free, meat-free foods for privileged people at non-Whole Food prices. Other Fred Meyers do this, and maybe Ballard's is even better, but this one used to be close to where I worked so you get to watch all the zombie tech people post-work. So why a 3? Well, I'm on the line with them now. I hate Safeway but it took me 3 minutes to get a quote on a Thanksgiving turkey. I am still on hold and it's been 8 minutes, excluding 1 hangup on me. Opp, Nevermind onto 10 minutes with 4 transfers, everyone keeps trying to send me to the deli. I give up. Safeway of Redmond, I'm not a fan of your high prices but at least you guys know who sells turkeys, and how much they cost. Best foods at FM based on price / taste: meats, grapes, nectarines, energy bars. Bonus fun fact! Look around the parking lot. If you see green tags on rear-view mirrors it's a Microsoft employee! My only complaint is the three times I've been here, multiple times during my visit, people (families or groups) just spread out in the aisle and look at you like you are nuts if you try to get past them. ??? I love this Fred Meyer! I always begin my shopping trip with a drink from the Starbucks, where all the baristas are friendly and they make delicious coffee. I've always been happy with what I order and I get something different every time I go. I like how this store has everything I want at very reasonable prices. Target is definitely cheaper, but they have a really small selection. I get stuff for half the price of QFC. I always go during the day and it's never really that crowded. Weekends- forget it. It's WAYYY too crowded and I can't even get down the aisles. read more

Watch your cashier! If some checkout person runs an extra item after you pay, they make you stand on line at customer service to get your money back. Of course there is only one person there with a line around the corner. There is a play area to drop off kids while you shop. That and the low prices is why I come here, but am re-thinking that. Or at least will keep any eye out for the more competent cashiers. 2 years later, I'm still shopping here and the checkout lines are a lot faster. I just moved to the area and decided to give this place a try for groceries. The place is well laid out, very clean, great fresh produce and has a good selection of everything. Ground beef was "eh", but I am spoiled coming from the Midwest (beef capital). The prices though, are too high for me to shop here regularly. I normally find food for 30-50% cheaper at Targets and Wal-Mart's. I do buy my meats and fresh produce here (I just recently found a good butcher close by that I will try next time for meats). I also purchase small things when we need them, since this is right down the street from us. I do the shopping for us (just me and the wife) every 2 weeks. I tried one week here and another week at a Super Target. We saved over $50 shopping at Target. The next time I drove down to Renton and shopped at Wal-Mart, we saved $60+ there. I don't particularly like Wal-Mart or the long drive. Target has limited selections, but still much cheaper. I just can't justify anything over 3 stars due to the price alone. If you don't mind the extra cost, it's a great place to shop. . read more

My introduction to Fred Meyer came shortly after my first stint in the Seattle area in 2002. Not having had Wal-Mart Supercenters, SuperTargets, Meijers or the like near where I grew up or went to school, this was my introduction to the world of department and grocery store combinations. I liked the prices, the selection, the cleanliness, the abundance of parking, the self-checkout lines (which were also new to me at the time), and the lack of membership fees a la Costco and the lack of even a grocery card with which the store could track my purchases for me to take advantage of "sales." (Fred Meyer does have a card now, but it is strictly a rewards program and is not required to take advantage of sale prices like is true at the also Kroger-owned QFC.) 5 years later, I still come here for grocery purchases and for perishable household items like detergent, cleaning supplies, toiletries, as well as one-off purchases like picture hooks and car wax. Even without manufacturer coupons and the occasional cut-out coupon in the in-store fliers which make the prices good, they tend to be decent at rest, and cheaper than some of QFC's "sales." It is on my way home from work, but I usually find myself making a special trip here on the weekend to shop even though there are closer and walkable options for anything more than a single specific item. If you live in the area and you're looking for standard grocery store fare, you can't go wrong with Fred Meyer, and if you're looking for organic stuff, there's a Trader Joe's only a few blocks away that you can easily visit on the same trip. read more

Freddies can be either the most peaceful place in the world or a jungle with probably a few hundred people running into each other, depending on when you go. This one seems to have poor looking produce which rots more quickly than that from Safeway or QFC. If you roam housewares and clothing isles good luck finding an employee, or finding the exit before sundown for that matter. read more

It's okay. This location can be a bit sketch at times so I tend to go in the daytime. They have groceries, household supplies, clothing, and pretty much anything you really need. Groceries are fairly cheap but you may have to pick through some produce. It's usually packed here so the self service line can be pretty long, but it seems to move in a reasonable manner. read more

I think TECHNICALLY this Fred Meyer is in Redmond. Anyway, I definitely stop by Fred Meyer at least once a week, it is definitely a one-stop shop. Produce, housewares, hardware, electronics, seasonal crap, photo developing, pharmacy, just about anything and everything you need you can get here. Parking is free (although closer spots can be ridiculous to fight for (and therefore not worth it) at times. Service at Fred Meyer also for me has been pretty good except for a select few times, but I'll say 9/10 times I visit Fred Meyer the service has been good. Lines can get long during peak hours, but self-check out is always much shorter (plus it allows you to accidental ring up Shiitake mushrooms as Crimini...I mean what?!? who does that?!?). Anyway I really do like shopping at Fred Meyer other than the convenience of finding just about everything you need for your apartment/home under one roof. The prices are much better than most grocery stores with quality being the same, yet it's not as crazy as Costco nor does it force you to buy in bulk. Lastly, you need to find that DVD, Wii, or whatever the heck is soldout at all the traditional retailers like Toys R'Us and BestBuy, you'll be surprised how many people forget to check if Fred Meyer has it (and usually they do). Anyway until I have a family that will justify shopping at Costco despite the bulk and crazyness just for the minor savings...I'll continue to do my purchases at Fred Meyer. Oh, did I mention they do a rewards card thing so basically every couple months you get some instore rebates (in my experience it's been anywhere from $5-15), hey better than nothing. ~G read more

I have such mixed feelings about this particular Fred Meyer's. On the basis of the staff alone, this place would easily get five stars. The good folks who work here -- both the checkers and the floor staff -- are among the friendliest, most helpful and most efficient I've encountered not just at any Freddie's, but at any store, period. Big kudos for the customer service. Prices and section are in line with what you'd find at most any other Freddie's (which means they are pretty darn good). The drawbacks though: The layout of the store makes navigating around a chore. Many of the aisles are very tight and it is not rare to run into a "roadblock" of someone else's shopping cart or a load of goods that are being stacked, etc. This is not helped by the fact that this store also seems to attract some of the most self-centered, clueless shoppers I've seen anywhere -- folks who abandon their carts plumb in the middle of the aisle, or decide the middle of a major passageway is the perfect place to stop and chat, or shop in groups of eight who all must gather 'round the mustard display and spend twenty minutes debating the merits of yellow vs. spicy brown. I always seem to be a bit frazzled by the time I am done shopping here. Also, the parking lot is laid out in such a way that the parking spaces are parallel to the store entrance instead of perpendicular to it as is standard. This means if you don't happen to land a spot in the row closest to the store you have to navigate your cart between parked cars to get to your own, or walk all the way to end of the (quite long) row if you want to go around, or just carry your bags to the car instead, but that means plunking them down on the wet ground once you get to your car. (For whatever reason, it always seems to be raining when I go to this store.) Still, if I am in Bellevue and I need a Freddie's fix, this store fills the bill. read more

This is a really, really good place to buy stuff. By "stuff", I mean basically everything under the sun: clothing, grills, plants, food, you name it. I like it so much partly due to the diversity of the store. It isn't like a run-down Safeway, because it actually has a very nice (albeit pricey) section for vegans, vegetarians, gluten-free people, etc. Additionally, they have a nice section for fruits and vegetables (although I like to buy that stuff at QFC) and they sell all the creams, lotions, and scrubs necessary for my daily facial routine. Additionally, this Fred Meyer has frequent sales on specific items, but they go quickly, so you if you find a deal, buy it. Everything, also, is soo cheap. I buy canned stuff, and other things that I just gotta throw in my cart, aka impulse buys. So, overall, I really like it! And, as always, I like their efficient self-scan system. read more

This opinion of mine is in regards the store after reopening... It was very crowded on day one and on day two but it slowed down tremendously afterwards. The vendors cleared their opening stands and things went back to normal (not a good thing) ... The vegetables stopped being as fresh as on day one, the mushrooms were the same and you could tell they are a few days old... The "handmade from scratch" bread is not baked enough and is not good at all... So, YES, it went back to normal. Most frustrating is the ID check if you got yourself some beer or a bottle of wine... I'm over fifty and I said: Seriously? After arguing I found out it's their "house rule" because legal age is still 21. In a state in which cops are prohibited to ask criminals of their emigration status, the Fred Meyer employees ask senior citizens for their ID BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT MANAGEMENT WANTS... The front desk excuse is they serve beer now inside, but do you serve it without asking at the serving point for an ID? It might make sense to ask for identification by the moment you pour someone alcohol into a glass, not at checkout; basically, this excuse is a BS. So, Bellevue FM management, take your house rule and stick it deep where the sun doesn't sine! P.S. Your floors suck (badly)! read more
