The hot food area had so many choices, but I always grab the Chinese food as it's so tasty! They make their sushi fresh on site, and the customer service is top notch! SAFEWAY @ BELLEVUE WAY Parking is available under a building or outdoor on the second floor as it's a one way only. Or you can easily park in their garage as well. Accessible parking is difficult to park in (on top) and there is limited spots for pick up (online order method). I've always really liked this Safeway, it's clean, and is very spacious. They have great selection but most of the time many times are empty or has very little items for it. The staff at Safeway for the service are a bit mean, especially every time i've done self checkout, then will yell at you that #4 register is available as if you can't clearly see the person beforehand walking away. Other than that, the produce is always great, some sales go on, and it's an easy clean market. read more

Located between Lincoln Square South and Bellevue Plaza, Safeway Bellevue is a large urban grocery store with expected high prices. However, because it is part of the Albertson family of grocery stores, all weekly sales apply and the prices/savings can be substantial if planned. It was the 4th of July sale, so savings on things like meat and ice cream were substantial. And it was nice that the best deals hadn't run out of inventory yet. We use Von's (another Albertson grocery store) near our home, and was able to use the same login to access the Safeway app (you need to use the safeway app to 'clip' all the digital coupons...the vons app doesn't work at Safeway). Service was mixed with the meat counterman being very friendly and helpful (letting us choose the cut of meat we wanted), but the cashier being a bit grouchy. I had to remind her there was a 50% off label on a marked down item, and she grudgingly went back to apply...pretty sure she would have told me to go to customer service if I had waited too long. read more

Was looking for packages of twizzlers licorice . Hard to come by in these parts. I scored one large package before Halloween in SAMMAMISH Safeway and went back for another package and they were out . We were having dinner in Bellevue so we stopped in the local Safeway to search for the licorice. bingo!!! We found several packages and they were 50% off (after Halloween sale). We search most of the store which is large before we found it. There have candy in several places which makes it difficult . My buddy suggested searching thru out the store and that's what we did. this is for PHARMACY MANAGER: what a mess! we are told my prescription will be ready the " next day after 2:00 pm.". We go in after 2:00 pm and wait in line for 20 minutes or more, then we are told it's not ready! then we are told they are OUT of stock and they can't fill it!!! this after we have taken time off of work. And this has happened several times. with other prescriptions. When I call them later, and ask what is going on, and tell them I need my medicine, alarmed because they haven't filled it, they say they might have a few that i can have!! where were they earlier when we had someone there to pick them up? SAFEWAY APP GETS RAP CUZ IT'S CRAP! The downtown Bellevue Safeway is the closest Safeway to me that has "Drive Up And Go", meaning you can order online in advance and pick up your order at the grocery store. This is not a slam of this particular store, but instead it is a big-time diss against the Safeway app. "JUST FOR U" REGISTRATION = NO GO! (C'MON..IS ANYONE SURPRISED?) You have to register for a "Just For U" account on their mobile app first. I ran into problems when I gave the app my existing loyalty card number that I have had for years. Apparently if my current phone number is different from the phone number on my loyalty card, the app just simply will not accept it. And so it refers me to call an 877 number if I have problems. I didn't bother calling that number as anybody who calls customer service with ANY company knows that is an absolute nightmare! 'Nuff said. MASKS NOT NECESSARILY UP TO THE TASK AGAINST AEROSOL ASSAULT Before the present COVID-19 pandemic, that really didn't matter a whole lot as one can just simply drive down to the store to shop the old fashioned way. But now, anybody who's been in a grocery store lately knows that maintaining social distance, especially at the checkout counter, is a life-and-death risky proposition, even WITH everybody wearing a mask (most are unsealed homemade masks). I'M SERIOUS! It's so easy to be looking at a grocery item when somebody suddenly coughs or sneezes right behind you. Remember, people can be asymptomatic for up to 14 days after initial infection. EVEN 6 FT SOCIAL DISTANCE MAY NOT SAVE YOU FROM GOING 6 FT UNDER! Or, somebody could've coughed or sneezed in the aisle five minutes earlier and left aerosols of COVID-19 hanging in the air, before you entered the aisle. Indeed, just talking and breathing indoors can leave ultrafine aerosol particulates hanging in the air well beyond 6 feet from "Ground Zero" for hours! (as opposed to the larger droplets that quickly fall to the ground within 6 feet). Hence, this is why I want to take advantage of Safeway's "Drive Up And Go" store pick-up service, which may now be necessary just to survive! NOW A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH! So when are grocery stores ever going to be serious about making apps THAT ACTUALLY WORK?! Before this pandemic, one could just laugh it off if Safeway, Kroger, and other grocery store executives hire hacks to write the code for their apps, or promise to take their kids to Disneyland if they create the apps for them. But now, it is a matter of life and death, especially for older people who have underlying conditions. I rant so much about this because just recently I had a failed experience with the QFC app! They don't honor their weekly coupons. I went to the Eastgate Bellevue WA location today to get Polar seltzer water, on sale buy 2 and get 2 free. Got there and the price listed was buy 2 get 1 free. Asked the clerk, then the manager, who told me it was because I was looking at the Sammamish WA ad. He told me different stores have different specials, even though this was printed in the weekly ad. So I found the Bellevue ad showing the same discount and he refused to accept it. It's in your weekly ad yet you refused to honor it. What a joke. Couple of issues. first, it's very uncomfortable for your customers when you allow vagrants to congregate and hang out outside your store and in your dining area. Also, I recommend hiring some additional folks to speak English in the deli area, because it's very hard to communicate with most of them. I live a couple minutes away from this Safeway so this is my go-to grocery store for items that I don't get at Costco and don't want to buy in bulk. One of my favorite things about this store is the abundance of parking. It's underground, there's a lot of it, and the spots are bigger than average. I can always park pretty close to the front which is nice when you're carrying a bunch of groceries. If you don't already have one, you should definitely sign up for a Safeway card/membership. You get a pretty big discount on a lot of items. I bought a pack of chicken thighs recently and the original price was about $11 total but with my membership it cost about $6. Pretty good deal! I love the large selection of liquor as they have a couple aisles and a wine cellar type thing as well. The only thing keeping me from buying all my alcohol here is the large Washington state liquor tax. I guess I'll have to make the drive to Oregon for that. Their starbucks kiosk only had one girl this morning, so I feel they're understaffed. Their fresh cut though is quality over quantity. I used to work at another Safeway location, so I know how hard it is to find the right fruit to use for fresh cut and make enough to almost fill the STANDS. Their fresh cut was very full in the STANDS and looked beautiful! Fresh Cut shelf looked barren. Could've heard crickets, it was so empty. There's some unfortunate guy sleeping in the food area and the tables are a mess though. About average, nice prices, clean and what you expect. Let's get into this, Came in last night for some essential stuff, I usually don't review this type of big chain but after what I found I thought it would be nice. So I found caviar, my wife loves to have it and for a special date night this was the only place that had it in the store. The store was very clean and well organized, the staff was friendly and helpful. I had questions on the sparkling wine and the guy that helped me seemed very knowledgeable on the topic. They also had different types of MAC and JACK beer. All in all it was a very notable experience and one of the best SAFE WAYS in the area. They are following all COVID guidelines with mandatory mask and hand sanitizer out for people to use. The staff are amazing - cleaning baskets, stocking shelves, offering sales on items that are easy to eat, packaging fresh foods (deli meats, salads, hot foods and more!). Speaking of hot food - I have not been eating much in general...it is a pain in the booty during this pandemic. I was really hungry this afternoon, and stumbled upon their delicious hot pot pie. They have chicken and beef (hoping they add in a veggie option soon!). I selected the chicken and veggie - creamy filling, crispy and flaky (top-only) crust...and only $3.99 with my Safeway card. This is one of the nicest Safeway I've ever been to. There's a parking in the lower level from the store with plenty of parking and big spaces. The store is presented very neatly and nicely labeled for each aisle. If you have a membership card, then you can save a lot of money on various items. The aisle have arrow labels of one way only to decrease overflowing in each aisle and maintain social distancing. I was looking for an item and the staff was extremely helpful by guiding me to the aisle for the item. read more

Re-upping to 4 stars. There are three Safeway locations in Bellevue. This is the best of the three. The store is huge. It has a large deli and liquor section. There is even a fresh nuts counter. The main reason why I like this store the most is that the selection is better in every department compared with the other two. I think this is much because there are several supermarkets like QFC and Whole Foods nearby. With the new H Mart opening down the street, I hope that this Safeway keeps up the good work and perhaps offer more deals to stay competitive. read more

I was reluctant to enter in a Safeway supermarket as the ones I know in California are old, crappy and with dubious stuff and staff. To my great surprise, unsuccessfully looking for a coffee shop open at 10 pm in Bellevue, I ended up here. Big, clean, well lit, smells good, nice fall decorations, everything looking super fresh, excellent that wine aisle over there...I went to buy some milk (to make myself the coffee to the lack of open places at that time) and ended up getting tons of snacks as well. Definitively, this is both for those living around here to do their weekly big grocery shopping as for the visitors in need of a quick fix of anything. I didn't actually purchase anything from this Safeway - I actually just came in here to kill time before an event I had a few stores down. Let me say that this Safeway is the FANCIEST Safeway I have ever seen in my life. My boyfriend is an ASD for Safeway/Albertson's and has seen TONS of stores and I can tell that this one impressed him even! I think the thing that left me with such a good impression is their alcohol section (lol, of course). They have a HUGE selection of wines, and they even have a wine cellar! On top of that, they have a bar with local beers and ciders on tap. How freakin' cool is that?! You can even come and fill growlers here, or just order pints! I've never seen that in Safeway. My mind is still reeling. If I lived close to this Safeway it'd definitely be my go-to grocery store! read more

Extremely fanciful and clean Safeway! Well, obviously you're right in the smack of downtown Bougie Bellevue! Love the deli area and bakery cause it's huge and also has a standalone sushi bar inside that's open pretty early in the morning for your sushi hankerings. Aisles are very wide and organized. Customers who shop here are basically just folks who work from their lovely Bellevue home or workaholics like me who prefer to graze grocery store aisles during their lunch break. One of the best things Safeway does is fried chicken. It has such great flavor. I look forward to it every time we go. Amazingly enough, Safeway offers 8 pieces of dark for $4.99 on Monday. It is surely a treat. So, why only 1 Star? To warn you about Joe. You see, the pharmacy is open until 9:00 PM on Monday. And if you ask the service desk, they will tell you the deli is open until 8:00 PM. But at 7:45 PM, Joe informed a gentleman in front of me and me that he was done making fried chicken. Never mind that there were signs still up offering the special. Joe was done. Was Joe in charge? Who knows? He doesn't look like a leader. Far from it. But, he shuts down when he pleases, regardless of what customers want. I am a GM of a restaurant in Seattle. We close at 11:00 PM. We serve guests until 11:00 PM. It seems silly to have a favorite grocery store but I do. And this safeway is my favorite. Admittedly it used to be walking distance from my old apartment complex which is a huge added bonus. However, even after moving away, I still drive to this safeway for a full grocery store run. They often have great discount/clearance prices on meat and other miscellaneous items. We had a very poor experience trying to order a cake. Seems what happened is a young man at the bakery tried to take our order but was not having a lot of luck. So he passed us to a young lady who took our order but forgot to charge extra for fruit topping. Then an older Korean lady came over and yelled at everyone, and said $10 extra charge. As we were finalizing the cake order the older lady came over and yelled at everyone again, saying there's another extra charge of unknown quantity. She was rude so my wife complained to a manager (Alex?) He did not apologize and basically said they don't know what the extra charge is, but we need to pay. Ended up calling another Safeway and placed the order. Was not told there'd be extra charge (admittedly we decided not to ask for customization.) Very disappointed with the interaction. Please train your employees on customer service. Just because we are Asian doesn't mean we enjoy the Asian obasan raised voice. read more

Whenever I run out of groceries Safeway is the closest grocery store I can rush to. You get almost everything and is of good quality. I usually buy veggies which are very fresh. You have a good spread of veggies and I buy which I need on an urgent basis. Based in the central location in downtown Bellevue it's easier to get quickly to the store. I also grab bakery items and cake slices as they have good ones to choose from. I also pick up wines from Safeway because they have plethora to choose from. Self check out makes it easier when you have few items and you just want to check out quickly. read more

The pharmacy at this Safeway is a complete shit show. They have no clue what they're doing. It takes him 10 times as long as any other Pharmacy in the city .even if they doz, it up at least three or four times before they get it right. not to mention you have to wait in line for 30-60 minute n line. Even speak to somebody tell you to come back in 20 minutes to fill your fucking prescription. This place is a complete fucking joke. I will no longer be bringing my business to this crappy store. Whoever's in charge of pharmacy should be fired and if it's because there's not enough money then Safeway corporate should give them enough money to staff there Pharmacy fully so you don't wait for 45 minutes in a line. This Starbucks is really great when it comes to their layout and selection of items. However, their customer service really needs some work. I don't think I have ever had a positive experience here with their cashiers. I keep coming back mainly because of the convenience and honestly because they have a great variety. Regardless of the time of day, the service is always cringe worthy. A few weeks back the woman at the cashier got into an argument with the lady in front of me because she didn't like how the groceries were placed for her to check out. I didn't realize there was an actual process on which items need to go first? But apparently you need to place the bigger items at the start of the line to simplify her life so she can properly bag your groceries. ANYWAYS. That sounds like a personal problem if she feels her job is too difficult when we don't place things in order... In addition to that the staff just looks miserable and doesn't try to small talk or even acknowledge you with a Hi. Their alcohol selection is impressive and they always have rotation of their specialty wines.
