Matt and Mark arrived at the time they quoted and got right down to assessing the situation. The garage motor and keypad were here when we moved here in 2001. It was time to be replaced due to not being able to get parts for the old one. In a matter of about 45 minutes they had everything installed and explained the operating of the new motor. What a pleasure it was to deal with the honest professionals at Fred C. Johnson, Co. Inc., in Jessup, Maryland. Colleen gave me a quote on the phone for exactly the cost of a new logic board for my 2013 Chamberlain whisper drive garage door opener, and how much the labor would be to put it in. And she even quoted me the cost of a new replacement garage door unit, should it be discovered that I needed one in a worst case scenario (the cost was very reasonable). Especially since I had a technician from another company with nearly the same name come earlier in the day who said, that I definitely needed a NEW unit, that he could put in for $900. When I balked at that, the price went down to $800 (still way more than the cost at Fred C. Johnson, Co. Inc.). I had to pay a small fee for an unused service call to get the guy from the other company to leave. After that, I thought about trying to order this part online and replace the logic board myself, but it turned out the part was cheaper from Fred C. Johnson Co. Inc. Garage Doors, and the cost of installation was well worth letting them do the job. So happy that I took a chance after the first technician from the other company left, and called Fred C. Johnson, Co, Inc.. IT WAS A MISTAKE TO CALL JOHNSON GARAGE DOORS earlier. DO NOT CALL THEM!! THEY ARE TRYING TO SCAM PEOPLE INTO USING THEM BY USING A SIMILAR NAME to Fred C. Johnson, Co. Inc. I was informed that the travel module was half the cost of the new logic board that I didn't need after all, so the technician put the original back in with the new travel module. They arrived at their promised time and completed the job during the estimated time. Moreover, they installed a higher quality spring set than the one they quoted yet honored their quote. I expected to hear the old story.... your unit requires this more expensive spring than what we quoted. This was not the case. If you need springs replaced, then I recommend Fred C. I've called Fred Johnson a couple of times now. The most recent involved a broken door I had repaired myself, but I was convinced I had threaded the cable incorrectly or done something else that would ultimately break the door beyond repair. They came out the day we called. The technician looked the door over and said my repair was fine and told my wife there was nothing for him to do. He did not charge us for the call. Now (1) he could have told my wife a repair was required and she would have absolutely agreed and (2) she offered to pay anyway but he didn't even charge us for his time to come out. So the very least I can do is leave a glowing Yelp review. This is the company you want to come out and take care of your garage door. read more
