Alex from DND garage doors was really exceptional. He was responsive to my inquiries and guided me through ordering a new door. His price was very competitive. I got all new hardware (door, tracks, bearings, and opener) and everything works great. The new door operates very smoothly and is tremendously more quiet than our old door and opener. I highly recommend the Liftmaster jack shaft opener if your setup allows. (You will need an electrical outlet close to the left or right side of the jack shaft, but if you're not handy an electrician can help you with this). It's more compact and out of the way than traditional overhead units. As someone who is fairly handy and likes things "done right", it's always nice to see professionals like Alex and his associate Barry work together to ensure everything is the way it should be. Double kudos for coming out to install the door when it was 15 degrees F outside! I would have understood if they wanted to postpone, but I'm glad they were able to work through the cold. read more

AWESOME service! Alex came out (Accokeek, MD) to give a quote the same day we called and set up an installation time/date for the same week. The online estimate was emailed the day of the in-person . The estimate and was precisely detailed and easy to understand. The installers (Barry and Tim) arrived right on time (actually they were on-site 10 minutes early and called to let us know and get approval to come sooner) and were very pleasant and professional. The price was very reasonable and Alex covered multiple scenarios for various options such as: windows or no windows, insulation or not, spring reuse or not (my current springs were 3 months old and Alex discussed the pros and cons of reuse. I chose not to reuse the springs based on warranty reasons), door material types. All three of the company personnel wore masks and on the install day the temperature was 90 degrees but they were very considerate of COVID-19 safety precautions. I'm so tired of companies that don't deliver and I'm very happy to say that DND Garage Doors isn't one of those types. These guys accepted our deposit knowing their business ID had expired and couldn't legally do the work. They tried to convince us that we could do it without a permit, and that they do work all the time without a permit, which is illegal and carries a massive fine for the homeowner. They claimed there was a backup at DCRA to get their ID renewed, which I found was not true after calling the office myself. We were strung along for three months while they claimed they were trying to renew, which was ultimately a lie. read more

I found these folks on Yelp years ago when our first garage door opener bit the dust. They came out right away and replaced the unit. Our second door opener died yesterday (it was 27 years old, so it didn't owe us anything). Scheduled an appointment for today with Alex, he arrived on time, and they finished within an hour and a half - new opener, checked out the other unit, installed new rollers on both doors, and lubricated everything. My experience with Alex at DND mirrors a lot of the great reviews here. I needed the torsion springs on my garage replaced. Initially, I was prepared to do the work myself after looking at Youtube videos. In the end, I felt it was too risky to replace the springs myself so I pulled together a list of top garage service companies in the DMV and gave them each a call. **Make sure to always shop around.. the estimated work had a $80 swing between companies. DND had the lowest estimate and could even meet me after work. Alex gave me a call to let me know he would be running late.. I felt bad because I didn't realize he would be coming from VA and would be fighting the dreadful 495 rush hour traffic.. but he did. He showed up, cheerful and courteous as can be, looked at my garage and promptly replaced my springs in 30 minutes. At the end, he also looked over the whole system to make sure it was all good. During the service, he answered all of my questions and really seemed happy to be doing the work.. which is rare nowadays. The springs come with a 3 year warranty.. but Alex said I could call him any time if I had any issues. I'm so glad I went with DND. read more

I used Alex to change the motor for one garage door and completely motorize the other. He did a great job. He is honest and focused. Price-wise, he compares favorably with the Home Depot and other garage companies who wanted to charge much more. I would have given him a 5 star rating if he could do electrical work. Our garage door was damaged and I called DND. I spoke with Alex on the phone and he said that he will come by the next morning for a free appraisal of the damage and cost of repair. In the morning, he called ahead of time and asked if he could come by earlier than the appointed time, which was perfect for me. When Alex arrived, he looked at it and gave me a quote on the spot which was reasonable and said he was able to do it by next week. But the best thing was that he actually told me that he didn't see any structural damage and it wasn't serious enough to make the repair a must, especially since it's only noticeable from the inside. When I called him for assistance, he actually asked me about exactly what was happening and prescribed some solutions to fix it so that he wouldn't have to charge me! When it comes to garage doors you really don't think about them at all until they break. Then you realize that there are a ton of garage door businesses out there that do that type of work. I called around and felt like I was getting ripped off over the phone! But when I called DND I didn't feel that way. I spoke with Alex and gave him the details of my garage and he gave me a quote over the phone. I couldn't get that from anyone else, it was like it could be this or it could be that. I think its a way for them to come out and charge you 75 bucks just to look at and then charge you a crazy amount of money to fix it. One of the springs on my garage door had snapped, and after looking at DIY sites that started their instructions with "Replacing this yourself is a good way to lose a finger or kill yourself", I decided to hire a pro. I called Alex, and he and his helper arrived within 2 hours, and had both springs replaced within an hour. His price was very fair, and he is very frugal - only replaced the minimum parts needed and did not try to up sell any additional services.
