Fasil is reliable, honest and did a first-class job replacing the motor and all 4 sides of weather-stripping on my oldish garage door. He came on time, explained all the options available and left things cleaner than he found them. There's no up-selling on things you don't need (even those YOU thought you needed!) and it seems his prices are very fair since he charged almost half of a highly-rated competitor's quote! Took a look a saw the spring that lifts the garage sitting in two pieces and the side cables dislodged. We called them around 2 on a Saturday and he was able to fit us in by 5 on the SAME day. I cannot say enough great things about DMV Garage doors. About 7yrs ago, Legman's installed my garage door. The technician installed the opener directly into my garage door, which cause the screws to make a hole into the door. Legman wanted to charge more to repair the door than I paid for the opener. I reached out to DMV early Monday morning, scheduled an appointment by Monday afternoon, and had a fixed garage door by Tuesday morning. Ben was super friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about the issue I had (a terribly installed garage door from house flippers/contractors). This led to an issue late on a weekend night where the door torqued terribly, came off the tracks, coils came unwound, and a myriad of other door-jamming issues. The original installer had installed hinges backwards, lacked installing slide-off prevention, didn't install the support strut, and had the wrong tension on the door. Great experience with Ben!! I sent a quote request through the yelp app to replace my noisy opener and make garage operations more quiet since my living room was located above. I got a quick and informative response back. This continued on for the next week with many questions on my end, Ben was patient throughout and answered all of my concerns. Top notch service. Someone backed into my garage door, breaking it and making it almost impossible to open and close. I called on a Saturday, and about two and a half hours later, Ben was there taking measurements and giving me a quote. I paid him a small amount to help me get the door setup so I could manually close and open it until he had a new door - I have an unusual sized garage, so it was a custom order, which means two weeks instead of a day wait. When I followed up with him to have the new door installed, I was debating whether to go with a 1 or 3 layer door. I told him I'd call him back in a couple of hours. He called me 15 minutes later and said he had a 2 layer door, and since it was from someone else's canceled order, it was available now, and he could discount it - it was only slightly more than a 1 layer door. He came over the next day and installed it, working diligently over a period of maybe 8 hours. He did a much better job than the original installer, and brought it up to code (they had tricked the safety sensors, run the spring bar in a strange place, and had the steel pulley cables cutting into wood shelving on the sides. Ben was the only person I interacted with - there are two other people in the company. I really cannot imagine Ben doing a better job. When he told me it would take two weeks, he advised me to call his competitors and check if they could do it sooner. I was really sold on his honesty, and didn't even bother calling them (I had chatted with a coworker who had recently replaced a garage door, so I knew his price was very fair). He was friendly, pointed out some things I could do to improve on the garage myself, and was happy to explain everything in detail. This morning my garage door would not open even with pulling the manual cord. After a google search to determine posible cause I discovered a broken spring to be the culprit. Upon further review, I noticed that cable wire on both sides of my garage door to be loose. Let me tell you, these people blew me away. I was visiting my parents in Maryland, and the garage door came off its track and was stuck in the open position, so this was an urgent matter. Unbelievable! PUNCTUAL: So, I had communicated with Ben via Yelp, and I told him that I would be coming from Northern Virginia to my home in Maryland, and would be home by 7:30pm. We set our meeting time for then. I get home at around 7:20pm, and He is already there! Love that. KNOWLEGABLE: My garage door wouldn't open at all (well, only about 1 foot). I actually thought it was one thing, but he quickly showed me where the real problem was. Something completely different. It was a rather easy fix. He fixed the problem in less than 2 minutes (literally), and showed me some additional (small) things to address, as time goes on, and how to save money in doing so. CARING: I mentioned to him that I bought this house last year, and did not have the (number) code to open the doors, only the Key-Fob. I asked him how can "I" reset the codes. He went ahead and got a ladder, provided me with a new 9-Volt Battery and set codes for both doors! TRUSTWORTHY: Instead of making up stuff to charge me for, he quickly got to the root of the problem. Fixed it, and actually fixed something else as well. COST: I'm sure that this is not the norm.......but my total cost was.....FREE!!!! Yep, he didn't even charge me a dime. No fee to drive out to my place, no fee for the battery he gave me. No fee for the two things that he quickly fixed, as well as the free advice. Ben was the first one to reply, and his quote to replace two extension springs (even though only one had broke) was the same amount for one spring from other companies. By Monday afternoon, Ben had replaced both springs, added lube to the wheels and rails, fixed another problem I had not mentioned, and gave me some helpful tips on how to maintain and extend the life of the garage doors and openers. My garage door decided to crap out on one of the coldest days of the year. The spring broke and snatched a sizable section off the door, leaving enough space for 2 people to climb in/out. Of course it also had to be one of the days I had my wife's entire family staying over in the basement right across from the internal garage door. Needless to say, it was an emergency and I needed it fixed ASAP. Ben came through within a few hours, checked it out and gave me a quote. While waiting for him I decided to shop around on yelp using the "Request a Quote" feature. I figured Ben would be more expensive because he had perfect reviews and the most number of reviews for any of the perfect reviews in the region. His quote turned out to be $200 less than the only other quote I got, but that's with me upgrading to the highest quality door materials/insulation available too. By 9:30 AM the next morning, he was ripping off the old garage door and installing a brand new one and it was FREEZING COOOOOLD! He was also patient through the cold. I worried that anyone in that condition would be rushing to get out of the cold, and that may affect the quality of work, but everything looked professionally done. I inspected for gaps in the seal on the sides but everything was airtight. Very professional service. Mr. Fassil was there to replace just one section of the broken garage door. He suggested to change the whole door as it was Contractors grade, but we did not have the Budget for it, thus he replaced the broken section and installed automatic openers and re-enforced the top section.
