Let me be CRYSTAL CLEAR: our Technician Rafael gets 5 stars. He did exactly what was needed, very efficiently and effectively and was a pleasure to work with. TL;DR: Don't use these people unless you wanna be harassed by multiple different numbers. They cannot communicate effectively. HOWEVER: After finding the company via my father in law's googling, the hassle began. My wife called them and then proceeded to get automated texts from a 207 area code about scheduling install of our garage door opener. She replied saying I would call as she's back in office working. The same number, which has to be a robot, hounded her with 3 more texts the same day and she was repeatedly called. Frustrated because she works 10 hour days in office, which this company didn't understand, she tasked me with calling. I called on June 5th told them the facts and then approximately a day later--we had to coordinate with our landlord who was paying the amount-- 495 Garage Door contacted me via text. NOTE: They call from their main number but text from a different one--area code 484--specifying it's them. I guess they have a call center or physical land-line still. They routinely seemed confused, both over the phone and over text, that we only needed a garage door opener installed, not a "garage door repair" (they said that to both my wife and me) and, while it was easy to coordinate a day and time with that 484 number, having our landlord pay, which he offered (we were perfectly willing to pay) added a complication. See below. While I was texting the 484 number on Friday June 6th, my wife, me and my father in law all get a new email from 495 Garage door's dispatch/admin team at ~4pm on Friday June 6th stating they had not heard back from "any of the numbers provided". Ludicrous; I had been messaging with them since 1:30 that day. I had to explain to them, again, why they hadn't heard back from my wife and why they wouldn't from my father in law (who lives out of state) . I have receipts. Day of, after our landlord, who was here for other work, mentioned he'd called and asked for an invoice, I assumed all was well. With 90 minutes into the 9-1 appointment block left today, I texted the 484 number asking what the status of the technician was. They said he would arrive shortly, and did. See above; Rafael was great. As he was leaving, we got a call from Dispatch, a different lady mind you, who said "he can't leave until he gets payment" . She then cut me off when I re-iterated the above about our landlord and an invoice. I told her bluntly I would hang up and have him call. He did and all is sorted. read more

I've never had such a bad experience with a contractor. Communication was terrible from the start. Calls were not returned, there were no updates, and it was impossible to reach a manager. Every time I called, I was given a different story about the parts. One person said they had one of the parts, another said they had none, and no one seemed to know what was actually going on. I was first told it would cost $175 to expedite the parts. I said no. A week later, they told me the parts were in California and would take 2 to 3 weeks unless I paid $200 to get them in one day. I finally paid. When the billing person called, she admitted the part was actually in Ohio. It felt like they were dragging things out just to pressure me into paying more. When the technician came to install the springs, I was not home, but my wife was. He called and said the job was complete. I asked him directly if he replaced both springs, since I paid for two, and he said yes. What he did not know is that I was watching on our security camera. He only replaced one spring and did not balance the door at all. This company is dishonest and unprofessional. They will give you conflicting information, push unnecessary fees, and cut corners even after you pay. I strongly recommend staying away. read more

Cinch Home Warranty collected $150 deductible for the service call but the repair was not covered. I paid out of pocket. I asked for my deductible back from Cinch but they said the warranty covered the remote, conveniently priced at $150. These folks know how to work the system......SCAM! read more

A technician named Moshe told me I needed to replace my garage door sensors with commercial sensors, which cost $850. I paid a $425 deposit. He came and tried to install them, then told me it actually wasn't the sensors. He told me he called Liftmaster for support, and it was the Logic Board, which would cost an additional $245. He said I would still need the new sensors. I told him to leave as I needed to think it over. I looked up the sensors he installed. They cost $89 on Amazon. I called another company and they removed the new sensors, put back in the sensors Moshe had removed, and had my door up and running in less than an hour. I called 495 and they would not refund the deposit immediately, but wanted to send out another technician. I explained I had a different company fix it, they said they would not refund the money until they retrieved the sensors. I asked for the original sensors back--they said they would bring them at a time that is most efficient to them. To get my money back without wasting more time, I filed a credit card dispute. I also filed a claim with Consumer Protection Division of Montgomery County and encourage others to do the same. I also filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau. The other company informed me that companies like 495 are popping up all over the place and that they are frequently called in to clean up after them. To date I am still waiting for them to return my sensors. Sarah, the manager, has not explained the 1000% mark up except to email me that I signed an invoice that outlined the scope of price and work, and that the case is closed. He arrived around 12:30pm and immediately got to work uninstalling the old doors and installing the new ones along with an opener. He was amazing to work with, answered all of my questions, and had the entire job finished around 5:30pm. 11/3/2025 - Contacted 495 Garage Door to schedule installation of new doors. 9/22/2025 - Requested service for a wooden door panel that kept jamming. The technician determined that it was too rotted for repair and recommended replacement. Received a quote to replace two rotting wooden garage doors and install a new opener. I went with the Clopay Model 4050 6.5 R-value WHITE 7.8/6.6 with plain short windows and 1-3/8 insulation, a mid-range option. Estimated 2-3 weeks for the order to arrive at Clopay. 6/8/2024 - Hugo was fantastic to work with. He gave me options and prices along with a recommendation. The repair (realign bottom bracket on door) was fast and reasonably priced. Would definitely hire again! read more

This is without a doubt one of the most pathetic companies I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Their tech chose to carry his tool bag & ladder in between my car and his van instead of having even an ounce of common sense or consideration and walking around the other side of their van with more space. In doing so my car was very deeply scratched in multiple places from front to back and you can clearly tell from its wavy motion that it's from someone walking next to it carrying something. I reached out to them as soon as I noticed the scratches and despite having clear video evidence showing they were at fault, they completely refused to take any responsibility. He did send it, however, the website didn't show what I was looking for, had a lot of different material types, and no pricing. We were directed to 495 Garage Door from American Home Shield. They had to come out twice to properly assess and measure for a broken spring. Then they took over 3 weeks to come back to fix the spring. They blamed their supplier for the spring's availability, however, we were able to find it from other sources. There was very limited communication from 495 Garage Door and appeared to be no sense of urgency. Our garage has only one access/egress, which is the door that had the broken opener. For nearly a month, anything that we needed from the garage (bikes, trash cans, etc.) had to go through our home. AHS Home warranty sent this company to my home when my garage door would not open and shut properly. Despite the fact that the remotes worked fine, they said the issue was the transmitter and replaced it. Sure enough, that did not fix the issue and they came back a second time and told me the torsion springs were weak and needed to be replaced, or we could get 1 more year out of them if they were tightened. They sent me three invoices, each one with an option to tighten the springs for $250 or replace them for $1,150. I told the technician springs were covered by my home warranty and he argued with me about this. After being very rude and confrontational I asked him to just submit the report to the home warranty company and I would take it up with them. He hung up on me and then filed a report with AHS saying the tracks needed to be replaced. He never mentioned the tracks as an issue to me. When I called 495 and asked to speak with a manager about this issue, they took all of my information and never bothered to call me back. Dishonest and unprofessional company, AVOID THEM!! read more
