I purchased two C450 Chamberlain 1/2 hp, chain, units (Amazon) to replace a broken door opener and a second that was misbehaving. The Amazon purchase included installation (for an additional $102) but a few days after I placed the order Amazon sent me an email to inform me that they could not find anyone in my area to install the unit for the price they quoted and they unilaterally cancelled the install part of the orders. I learned of BBB Garage Doors from a close family friend who gave them a glowing report. I called on Sunday with the hope of leaving a message for a callback. Instead they picked up the phone and offered to send a technician right away. I chose to wait till Monday to get the person I wanted (Raymond). Raymond showed up on time (a big deal for me) was very friendly and professional. He examined the broken unit, the second unit which had some issues, and even looked at my third garage door which he said was fine. He gave me a quote for replacing the two units with the C450's I purchased. I accepted immediately (it was very competitive to other estimates). He included fully servicing all 3 (lubrication: doors, the rollers, the chains, etc). Estimate included all labor and shop materials (such as lubrication). He emphasized that his company does not nickle-and-dime the customer. Refreshingly, he didn't try to up-sell me on anything. Some of the door rollers (that sit in the rails) seemed a bit rusty. He looked at them and said that I don't have to replace them now; they worked reasonably well. He offered to come out next year, at no charge, to lubricate them again and check them out then. Better yet, he offered to replace the broken door immediately. His work was impeccable and very professional. He clearly knew what he was doing. His attention to details was incredible. As an example of attention to details, his inspection of the existing installation revealed that the steel strands safety wire threading through the door springs was frayed a bit at the anchor point. He adjusted it, at no additional cost, so the frayed point was past the anchor point and plays no part in the operation of the safety wire (that of course included re-adjusting the springs). He even noticed that the springs were not the original (true, they had broken several years ago) and were actually incorrectly sized (you can tell by the color coding on the springs) but he thought that they still balanced the door acceptably and would not recommend replacing them, To my amazement, and at no additional charge to me, he upgraded one of the new 3-button Chamberlain remote openers to a universal opener by LiftMaster which he was then able to program to operate the 3rd garage door (the Chamberlain did not support the old LiftMaster). So now I have a remote that can operate my old 3rd door and the two new doors. I am very pleased. When he was done, he cleaned up thoroughly - he even wiped the garage door floor to get rid of the stray aerosol lubrication that he used to lubricate the chain, rails, springs, and garage door parts. Because he had an additional service call on Monday (after all, he came just to give me an estimate but saw that my wife could not park in the garage), he was only able to replace the first unit (the broken one). At least my wife could now park her car inside the garage. He came back, on Wednesday (2 days later) to replace the second unit. Again, he professionally replaced the second unit with as much attention to details as the first unit. And once again, to my amazement, he upgraded one of the two new remotes to the LiftMaster universal remote so that it too can operate the 3rd door. In short, I would rate this company 11 on a scale of 0-10. I would use them again with no hesitation what so ever. I was so pleased, that I actually paid him more than his original estimate. He was visibly upset. He said he does not accept tips. I insisted that just like he had the right to gift us with the upgraded remotes we had the right to pay an amount that reflected the value of the work he was doing. He insisted I redo the check to the lesser amount that he quoted originally. He reluctantly accepted the check after I told him that my wife had the check book and was not home to redo it. He then insisted that it be a credit on the account to be used for any future work should we ever needed it. I am trying to think of anything negative to say.. I'm always suspicious of a too glowing report. But they exceeded all my expectations and could not think of anything negative. I would definitely recommend BB Garage Doors to anyone in this area (Washington DC) who needs garage door work. They are honest, professional, reliable, very price competitive, and honestly very good people who do great work and they are proud of this. read more

One of our garage doors was accidentally opened part way via remote while locked from the inside. This resulted in serious damage, so I contacted the company that we purchased the doors from years ago. The owner of this other company said he could fix it and he required a deposit of half the amount. I gave him the deposit and we had a date/time scheduled for the repair. Once it was 2 hours past the scheduled arrival time, I called and left him a voice mail. He never showed and he never returned my call. A few days later I left him another voice mail demanding my deposit back. I then did a google search and found three companies that appeared to be good possibilities. I called all three. The lady I spoke with at the first one informed me they charge for estimates and she stated that repairing the door would only serve as a very temporary fix. She advocated new doors (if we replace one, we have to replace both due to matching) which would have resulted in approx. six times the cost of the repair. The second company also charged for estimates and they didn't know when someone would be available. They said someone would contact me to schedule an appointment. I'm still waiting. I called the third company which was BBB Garage Doors. The lady I spoke with was extremely nice and helpful. No charge for an estimate and she had Raymond contact me within minutes. Raymond offered to come out the very same day. As promised, he arrived 30 minutes after we spoke. I immediately liked him. He seemed very honest, customer service oriented, and his price was more than fair (significantly better than the original company that didn't show up). He never tried to sell me new doors. In fact, he said we have very good steel doors and that he could repair the damaged one to be as strong as new. Raymond completed the work the same day. He is a perfectionist and he walked me through everything he did. He voluntarily serviced and tested our other garage door at no extra charge. The repaired door looks great, seems to be very sturdy and is working like new. My experience with Raymond and this company could not have been better. I received a quote for over $2000 from a competitor that included, 2 channel replacements, cable replacement, disassemly and reassembly of the door pannels, rebuilding woodjams, and spring assembly/adjustment Our garage door would not go up or down for 3 days waiting for the competitor who would not be able to do the work for 2 more days. After spending over a half hour on the phone with his boss, the above quote was provided by a young inexperienced technician that charged me over $600 to reserve a day for doing the work. He never even tried to adjust the garage door. (also completed). You have may heard the saying that you can either have great service or a great price, but not both. Well, with BBB Garage Doors, you can remarkably have both. The owner Armond was incredibly responsive and helpful when I contacted him for help fixing my broken garage door. It turns out that one the springs on my door had snapped. This was not an ordinary job, because my garage door was much heavier than normal and required special, large, springs to be custom made. Several other repair firms that I called either said they couldn't help, it would take a week, or quoted me an outrageously high price. Armond not only offered to fix my garage at a great price, he personally called the spring company and lobbied them to complete the spring within one or two days. Because my car was trapped inside the garage, Armond sent out one of colleagues the same day to manually open the garage while we were waiting for the spring, which came the next day. But it even gets better, because Mark (the technical expert/installer) came out and meticulously installed the springs, replaced all the rollers, and noticed one of the cables was frayed in danger of snapping, so he got us a replacement for that. Then they perfectly adjusted and tuned the system, and it works perfectly. And at a price that was less than half of what other firms quoted me. I called BBB Garage Doors LLC Sunday night because our garage door spring snapped. They said they would be here on Monday between 9-11 AM and would call 30min. prior to arrival. They did exactly that. The service man Nathan called and said he would be here in 20 min. And was here promptly. He examined the broken spring and told me up front how much it would cost, I agreed on the price. I believed it was a fair quote. He proceeded to do the work and although he finished sooner then expected it was obvious he knew exactly what he was doing. Nathan is definitely a very skilled tech. Regarding his line of work. I strongly recommend this company for hire on garage doors, they provide prompt, courteous service and fair prices. Just two notes aside: I've read the negative comment on Nathan's service being done quickly and the customer believing he should not have been charged for "5 min" of work. You get what you pay for, that work was done on a Sunday, the customer left off a lot of details that is unfair to the excellent work that was completed. This past Thursday Raymond from BBB Garage Doors came out to fix a spring on my door. I had called around at least half-a dozen companies including the big ones (and the ones we get flyers for) and settled on this family owned business. He sold me on the fact that he would not nickel and dime me on items once he came out - essentially a flat fee within reason. And I must say he delivered! Not only a gem of a person and a first class guy his craftsmanship, professionalism, and dedication to his profession shined through. I would not hesitate to recommend him for a second. Don't even bother wasting your time calling others every 5* review on Yelp and Google are true for Raymond and BBB Garage Doors. He not only stayed for several hours but was there until 11:30PM despite having a family. Not only did he change my broken spring, he changed out a cable that was fraying, and also lubed the garage door, and tightened all the bolts/hinges. Again, all without nickel and diming me and providing me a flat rate that he initially quoted. It was so impressed by his class, honesty, and integrity I tipped him extra. Dan was my technician. He listened to my issue with my garage door that was lifting from one side first and jerking as it lifted. It had been bothering me for sometime as it was making a lot of noise and I felt unsafe. He came out on the same day. In fact, I got a call to schedule my appointment within minutes from the technician and he let me know what time he was coming, Friday evening! Since our motor was old, the issue I was having could not be isolated to one cause. After he made some adjustments, it seemed to work fine. He let us know that we give him a call right away if we had the same problem again. The garage door was only behaving this way after some period of inactivity so it was hard to pinpoint what the issue was. we call him the next day and he came back right away and fixed the problem at no charge for the second visit. He told us to not hesitate to call if any problems. I know that we probably need a new motor because it's near the bed of its life. Dan was honest, professional, quick, and very responsive! I have a locksmith company in the area. and yesterday I had at work, as I'm supposed to change the locks on the garage door. But the door was an a bad condition, stuck in place, and no was access inside the garage to try to open the door! Of course, I needed a garage doors technician so I called to "BBB garage door llc". it's my first time that I write a review, but it's because those guys did a great job. The technician came less than half an hour where we set, he demonstrated professional competence and knowledge in the field. Less than an hour, he opened the garage door for me and took care of the door problem (he fixed the tracks and replaced a broken spring, and replaced door roller). And on top of that, the technician also helped me to replace the lock. Finally when I saw their work I was pleasantly surprised, I did not believe he can fix that door so good.. Ramond just saved the day for us! We discovered our garage door inoperable on a Saturday night, with our minivan stuck inside. This was very stressful for Sunday's carpools and family activities, and for Monday's transportation to school and work. We called our usual garage door technician, and he wouldn't come on a weekend. We called another company, and they said they could come within a 4 hour window on Sunday morning, with an additional emergency fee. Sunday morning the technician didn't show up, and the company dispatcher reported that he was not answering his phone, and would I want to schedule for Monday. Definitely not! Found Ramond online, called him and he sounded enthusiastic about fixing our door! He arrived within 2 hours, and went to work on replacing the springs on the door, which fixed the problem, then he did additional maintenance and checked every aspect of the door's functioning so that when he left not only was the problem solved, but the door was working better than before.
