This was a call to my personal residential phone, not a business line. Calling a customer that early for a non-emergency sales inquiry feels highly inappropriate and unprofessional. Most people are either still asleep or just starting their day at that hour, and it reflects a lack of basic courtesy and awareness of reasonable calling times. I understand the importance of prompt follow-up, but there should also be some level of professionalism and respect for customers' personal time and privacy. However, I consulted other companies who inspected the situation and determined that it simply needed realignment, with no new parts required. It seems to be a common practice to upsell services, and I'm uncertain whether he was genuinely unaware of the issues, only capable of replacing the whole system, or simply unwilling to do the job correctly. For others who might read this: the good news is that they offer free estimates, but the bad news is to be cautious of potential upselling. I believe that a one-star rating will eventually reflect the service provided, and I noticed that you have received more than one. Beware of this company! They demand extra money from you when you've paid your full balance already, then ghost you and refuse to give it back! Avoid this company if you want to steer clear of unnecessary stress and lost money! I paid in full for my garage doors in May, and the installation took place in August. However, during the installation, the technician insisted that I owed additional money. He repeatedly showed me a tablet "proving" the extra charge. Unable to locate my copy of the contract at the time, I reluctantly paid the amount, thinking we could sort it out later. Shortly after the technician left, he called to inform me that I was correct--I didn't owe any additional money. When I asked him not to deposit the check, he told me that he had been instructed to immediately deposit my check after receipt. However, he said he would contact the main office the next morning to process my refund. Since then, I've contacted the office, the general manager, and a sales representative, all of whom confirmed that they were aware of the extra payment. It's now been over a month, and despite numerous assurances and promises that a check is on the way "tomorrow" or "at the end of the week", I still have not received my refund. I had a horrible experience with Affordable Door. I asked Affordable Door to replace my old Genie garage door openers with new Genie garage door openers that I had purchased through the military Exchange. They agreed to do the installation. The first installer (David) had a bad attitude, was rude to me, and told me the that the screw-drive Genie garage door openers were garbage. He said that I should have bought more expensive belt-drive Liftmaster garage door openers from Affordable Door. He insisted that his installation was perfect, but the new garage door opener screw segments separated the first time I tried to close one of the doors, disabling the garage door opener. This happened several more times. It took five different visits from Affordable Door installers (and two different consultations by me with Genie Customer Service) before the garage door openers were properly installed. read more

He was very willing to explain the work that he was doing and pointed out some safety issues that he was able to take care during the service call. After researching a variety of companies to determine a fair and reasonable price to replace two garage doors, I decided to use Affordable Door. The website was easy to use to make selections and view how the doors would look on my garage. After making the selection of type of doors and colors, I placed the orders online. Calling Affordable Door to make some adjustments and work with them while the HOA was approving the modifications to my home was easy with no fuss. The doors were in stock and the installation date was established. The installation seemed to have gone well and only took a few hours. A few weeks later, I was having one of the garage door openers worked on, which was installed by another company. The tech pointed out several flaws in the installation which were evident to anyone but a layman, like me. One of the doors was installed with a tilt to one side and the other door was installed with a large gap between the door and the track which causes it to have a precarious connection to the roller. Also, with these types of doors, a seal is needed which means the door frames need modification. The seals were installed without modifications to the doors which actually takes away some clearance for car entry and departure. I called Affordable Door to set up an appointment for the corrections. The rep provided a time and I mentioned I had to check my schedule for the time she provided. After checking, I said the time was acceptable. Here comes the day when the tech is due to show and, lo and behold, no show. I called Affordable Door to determine what happened and was told I cancelled the appointment. Totally incorrect. Why cancel it without rescheduling? Needless to say, if I had not called, I would have been left hanging with an unacceptable door installation. I asked the rep to put me on schedule which was not a time which is totally what I wanted. The work needed to make the repairs on my garage doors will take a few hours so end of the day appointments are not ideal as I suspect the techs are rushed and probably overworked. Also, it seems they only schedule appointments for 0900-1200 and 1500-1800. What happens 1300-1500? Recommend more flexible scheduling and FOLLOWUP with appointments. Sales reps, two thumbs up. They now won't get back to me to do the simple panel replacement and when I've called to inquire about it, they've never called me back. My garage door opener had broken and it was a real pain pulling on the emergency door opener to open and close the garage door. My brother recommended Affordable Door and said they had replaced his garage door opener. He said they were super nice, prompt on getting out to him, and he really liked his technician. I had the same great experience. I called and they made my appointment within a couple of days. My technician, whose name was Robert was super nice and did an excellent job. My garage door opens smooth as silk and quiet as a mouse. There is a light that turns on by motion sensor and stays on to give you plenty of time to get in the house. The technician answered all of my questions, even after he had left and I ran out to his truck to ask him for help with a last minute question. One of my garage doors sounded noisier than usual and I was concerned that the motor might be damaged. It was easy to get an appointment, and the technician called ahead to let me know when he would arrive. I met him in the garage and opened the door so he could listen to it. He told me the chain was making the noise. There was no problem with the motor. He said I could replace the chain with a belt, which would be quieter. He greased the chain, oiled the hinges, and offered me a service contract. When he was ready to leave, I noticed that the light was not working, and he came back and replaced it. He was knowledgeable, pleasant and friendly. The price seemed fair, although I did not get other estimates because this was the company that had installed the doors. read more

My garage keypad would not work in cold weather. I am a female senior citizen. I know how unsuspecting and naïve women look to contractors, especially older ones! I am a student at YouTube University. I consult YouTube when something goes wrong or there is something that is simple enough that I could fix, and save lots of money. I concluded that my problem may be with the keypad. I called Garage Door. I told him about my concerns with the keypad. He when straight to the garage door opener which was mounted on the ceiling. He told me that it was installed in 2011 and that it needed to be replaced. I said okay. I asked him the cost and when it could be installed. He said $600 and he could replace it the next day. I agreed. It took me 2 minutes to reconsider. It seemed as though something was a little off. I canceled. I remembered that he never even looked at the keypad. He ignored my concerns. I wondered if he was trying to get over on this female senior citizen! I wanted another estimate. I called O'Brien Garage Door (5 stars). If anything happens to my garage again, they will be the ones that I will trust to be fair and do a good job. Their service contractor first went to the keypad. He checked out the new keypad that I had purchased. He tried to get that to work. It didn't. He told me that I had the wrong keypad. I asked him if he had a match in his truck. He did. He programmed the keypad and my garage door worked. The total was a reasonable $127. It was the keypad just as I first thought. NICE PRODUCTS BUT BAD BUSINESS. I used affordable door to replace my double garage doors and trim in August 2022. I found their website during my research phase. They had good products, were responsive, a very nice man (Dyvante) came out to give me options, and gave me a competitive quote. Within 2 months, they returned and installed the doors and trim. The workers were nice and professonal, the installation was completed in a day, and the products were good quality and worked as advertised. WHY THE 1-STAR?? They billed my credit card twice for the final payment. Everyone makes mistakes, but they didn't return my emails or texts, or call, and they didn't correct the mistake when contacted by my bank. So they've collected an extra $2612.50 for the project. Now I'm forced to go the BBB and then small claims to get the money back. BOTTOM LINE: THEY DID GOOD WORK, BUT IT'S NOT WORTH THE EFFORT IF THEY ARE EFFECTIVELY STEALING FROM CUSTOMERS BY NOT CORRECTING SIMPLE MISTAKES. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Affordable Door to get a quote to repair my garage door. The problem that I was having was that the door would not close when the button was pressed unless you held the button throughout the closing process. Upon setting the appointment, I instructed the contact person that I would prefer a 2 hour arrival window, between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm which she acknowledged and confirmed. On the day of the appointment, the service person called twice around 8:30am, neither call which was answered by me because I had not yet fully awakened to begin taking calls, which is why I requested a 10:00 am window for arrival. After a somewhat persistent knocking, I somewhat reluctantly, and with a bit of frustration opened the door to the Affordable Door service person who had decided to come an hour earlier than scheduled. I set the appointment for 10:00 am for a quote and the service person arrived at 9:00 am. I informed the service person that the appointment was not scheduled until 10:00 am, to which he stated that he called, as if that somehow outweighed the fact that I requested and was confirmed a specific time block. To which I responded, yeah, but I didn't answer! Reluctantly decided to let him take a look since he was there, expecting to receive a quote as requested. I demonstrate the problem with the garage door and he says it's the sensor and immediately walks over to adjust it without telling me how much this adjustment (which took every bit of 15 seconds) is going to cost me. After which he pulls out his touchpad and says that will be $75.00. To which I was strongly taken back because for starters, the appointment was supposed to be for a "free quote" as advertised through Home Advisor. Which he never provided. Furthermore, he never asked if I wanted him to make the adjustment, nor did inform me how much it would cost to do so. He simply and quickly I might add, walked over and made the adjustment and that was it. After I refused to pay and requested he call his office to confirm the purpose and expectation of the appointment, he stated with frustration " that's okay, you don't have to pay, I am tired of you" and left. Shortly thereafter, I got a voice message from Crystal of Affordable Door claiming that the service person had indicated that I refused to pay for the service. I called her back and explained the scenario and she then put me on hold for 5 minutes to call the service person I guess. She then returned to tell me that because service was rendered, I have to pay. She further proceeded to offer a mild threat that I have 30 days to pay or they will send it to collections. I have used several contractors from Home Advisors over the last few years and this is the absolute worst experience I have had. I have no problem paying for services that I receive when I have been given the opportunity to authorize it and agree to the cost, however, I refuse to be manipulated or bullied into paying for just cause. I called a couple of places to get a quote to have a new motor replaced, meaning parts and labor. When I called they gave me a higher quote than the other places so I said I'll go with the other company. Michael who works there called me a couple of hours later and said they could match it. I asked about the warranty for the motor and he said 5 years and 1 year for the labor. Spoke with him twice on the phone to confirm and he was adamant they could match it. Scheduled an appointment today between 12-4pm. It's 3:00pm and haven't heard from them. Called and just happened to speak with the supervisor, Gideon and he said I was mistaken. He said there was no way they could match the other company and as a matter of fact, the quote was just to install the motor. No apology but rather a matter of fact. I don't normally complain about a company but this is one of the worse place I've ever dealt with. All lies and no apologies. Fast forward to Tuesday around 10 and I call Affordable Doors to confirm that someone was coming to install our door and opener but find out that they didn't put us on the schedule for that day...kind of upset that we were forgotten and we had cleared that day out to make sure we were free for them but in the end we had to reschedule to a later day in the week. In the future, definitely should call a day before to make sure you are scheduled and that someone will be coming to do the job on the day you expect it. Not thrilled I needed a guy to come out but employee came out I think the very next day after I asked. He was very chill, showed me what they already had in stock at their warehouse. Had exactly what I needed. Due to a cancellation they offered to install it The Next Day! Which I couldn't do because of work but their next availability was maybe 3 days later. Guys showed up (though they didn't call when they were en route which bugged me slightly) and set it up. There was some issue with the new door not closing 100% so they had to return next day to switch out a part but after that it looks amazing! Super easy company to work with. Jason Fields is the owner and not a very nice person. I had Affordable door come out in August to repair the door frame. Quote was 853. When Carlos came out, he stated the whole door frame needed to be replaced. Quote was 1500. The the frame was replaced and door re-hung. There is now a gap at the bottom of my door where the panel is not flush with the weather stripping. I've been back and forth with this company requesting that the owner come out and take a look. When he finally called, he was very defensive and tried to tell me that it's my door. That they don't do crappy work. However, there is a gap in the bottom of the door that weather can get in. He tells me that all doors are this way. When I asked him to come show me where on my neighbors door there is a gap like this one, he said "we didn't install your neighbors door". He was rude, didn't care that I was unsatisfied and I refuse to work with him any further. Be very careful when working with this company. They say that they have 100% guarantee, but when you tell him you are not satisfied, he refuses to stand by his work. 3 months later, I now need to find someone who can come fix my door. read more

Great service! I called on a Friday evening, and by 1pm the next day my garage door was fixed. The tech was very professional and replaced the broken spring on my door in under 25 minutes. All told, it was $199 for the fix, which I did not consider to be outrageous given that other services charge in the $200-300 range.
