If you have a relatively simple job, Alex is probably your man. he is fairly responsive and he was always polite when I talked to him. If, on the other hand, your garage door repair is somehow challenging or unusual, I would recommend you look for a different repairman. Alex answered my first call promptly. A day or two later he got over to the house for the first time. my garage door repair was a little challenging. After that first visit, Alex never returned. Although I was able to catch him on the phone one time after that first visit and he explained what he was going to do next, he failed to act. I moved into my current home in June of 2012 and performed no garage maintenance and didn't think it needed any. In October of 2017 I tried to go to work and my garage door refused to open. I called DND, they came out the same day and replaced my torsion springs allowing me full use of my garage again. Last night at about 8 pm, my door wouldn't open again. Exemplary service today from DND Garage Doors! I called them this morning because my garage door has been sticking for a couple of weeks, and I would have to to hit the button several times before it would completely open or close. I was afraid one day it would refuse to open and we would not be able to get the car out to get to work! They came to my home promptly this afternoon (within the time frame that they had given me) and fixed the problem. Although I asked twice if I needed to just get a new opener (since this one is ancient), they said no, that it should work just fine now. They could easily have sold me a garage door opener that I did not need... but they were honest with me instead. I really badly wanted to give these guys a shot strictly because of their amazing yelp review history. I first tried to request a quote online for a new door and opener. Got no response for two weeks. Decided to try again, this time calling. Outgoing voicemail says your call will be returned within 15 minutes. Hours later (but atleast they did call back), I scheduled a two hour window for them to come yesterday. At the end of their appointment window and no one arrived, I called and got someone else who said he would check on where he was and call me back in two minutes. No call back. An hour later, I called and left a voicemail - still no call back, no show. Very disappointed because I really wanted the same fabulous experience everyone else has written about - and mine isn't a small ticket repair job. Never trusting yelp again. I hired Alex to install a door based on the good reviews. He talked me in to buying a clopay premium door for $1800. Trusting the other reviews I didn't bother checking prices. I saw the same door a week later at home depot for $1300 installed but that's not the worst of it. 2 days ago the track fell down causing the door to fall on my car because he forgot to tighten the bolt and when I called him back to fix it he did and I asked him to pay for the damage to my car and he said he didn't have insurance and he couldn't afford to pay the $2800 in damages so now I have to claim it on my own insurance. Ill be taking him to court. I learned my lesson and to hire a real company next time and not some handyman company thinking I was saving a few bucks. read more
