I always smelled this shop going past it, but somehow only ever thought to visit on Sundays (when it's closed). I finally remembered on a Saturday and was able to get a look! Lots of parking :) They have a ton of great extremely cheap bread options (like 2 loaves for $3, or $1 each, or for the pies, 2 for $1), and a couple others that are cheap but not suuuper cheap (the fancier loaves, ending up to be about $4 a loaf when I can get it for ...$4.50-5 a loaf in the grocery store). On our checkout I saw they also had sourdough loaves for $2 each but I'd already committed to bagels and a half loaf of Hawaiian so I couldn't justify getting more (despite the price!). That said, I noticed that the due dates were less than a week out from when I purchased, so I guess be aware that the breads may spoil sooner than expected! (I shoved mine in the freezer so it'll be fine.) Not sure when it would realistically make sense to take a trip here-- it's not exactly on the way to anything, though not far from home-- if I really needed bread I'd likely also need other groceries, and the savings for a single loaf of bread isn't really worth it. Maybe if I had a giant carb party or this was actually on the way to or from work, this would make sense. Still, I'm glad I finally got to peek around the shop! read more

I always drive past the store and smell fresh bread being baked. Notice I was close to the outlet so I had to stop by to see what it was about. I got me some muffins for a quick snack in the morning some bagels and boy oh boy are they soft and some cinnamon raisins bread. I love coming here to pick up some bread or bagels when I'm too lazy to drive to an actual grocery store. Everything's reasonably priced and I recently discovered their mini bagels which are so addicting. Franz always smells sooo good from blocks away in the mornings. My first time here and I noticed that they had a fairly large but packed parking lot. I initially came to pick up some bagels and was overwhelmed with all the different bread choices and ended up buying some potato bread and raspberry filled powdered donuts. I was so busy taking yelp pictures and picking out bread I forgot to get bagels. Everything was a lot cheaper than what you would spend at the grocery store. I spent over $5.00 and they gave me some free hamburger buns on my way out. I would suggest coming here if your looking for a good deal and a larger variety of bread choices and it may even be fresher. They also have there own creme filled sponge cakes (also known as imitation twinkies) I think twinkies taste better but these seem to have more creme in them. (Next visit: Bagels!) read more

Need some buns quick and fast? If you have time, it's worth the stop at one of the Franz Bakery Outlet Stores. Overall, I had a pretty pleasant experience in shopping at this bread outlet. Most of the bread are priced relatively cheaper than the local supermarkets and everything was locally made. What made the experience nice was that everything was clearly labeled so if you know exactly what you want, it's pretty easy to find it. For 2 sets of hamburger and 2 sets of hot dog buns, it was less than $5 total. However, if you spend anywhere close to $5 and up, there is a stand in the corner of the store that offers free items based on how much you spent. So not only do you buy things at an affordable rate, but you'll end up with a freebie as well! Even if shopping for bread isn't your kind of thing, Franz offers freshly made donuts and other items. If you love taking food pictures, I highly recommend coming and seeing the bread art. It looks pretty cool and overall, it's a great place to take kids if they're into cool art and treats. read more

Located on a corner, cheap place to go for a good loaf of bread. Wow this place smells good when you walk in through the front door (smells of cinnamon and baked bread on this visit). Bread is crazy cheap here, we are talking about barely $1 for one loaf (there are also specials if you purchase multiple loafs). Bread items include sourdough, burger buns, hot dog buns, English muffins, bagels, cinnamon flavored bread, etc. They also sell some cookies, jams/ jellies, canned goods and bagged candies. When I tried to enter the store today, the employee working there locked the door and shook her head indicating that the store was closed. I came to the store 5 mins before closing but the employee closed early and then started vacuuming and pretended not to see me. I am very upset by this because I was looking forward to buy my daily "after-work" donuts and I am a frequent customer here. Can you please advice your employees to not close early, even if its only a few mins. The fact that the employee (Older Blond Woman) just pretended not to see me when I was pointing to my watch that it was not closing time yet was extremely rude and offensive. "what's that?" sniff sniff sniff sniff It's baking bread! Lord love a duck! So I changed direction, followed my nose and entered the outlet store. They do have great bargains there: cheap wonder-type bread 5 for 5. Fancier breads that cost $4 in stores, 2 for $5. And they have cookies and donuts galore, too. I bought the peach cobbler bread, lemon bread, mini bagels, cheese bagels, gluten free cinnamon bread, gluten free hot dog buns, and gluten free bread. Everything was great! I've been curious about this place for years -- what would you even get at a bakery outlet? Misshapen loaves? Irregular donuts? I finally got a chance to find out on a weekend visit. The store looks and feels like a convenience store: dingy linoleum floors, harsh lighting, metal shelves crammed with stuff. And it partially is -- the front has a candy rack, bags of chips, and soda machine, apparently for the students of a nearby school. I was surprised by how many non-bread items they had -- canned food, spice mixes, jams and jellies, etc. The brands they carried seemed kind of sad and generic, though, kind of like the random brands you see at dollar stores. They carry Granny Goose chips, which I hadn't seen in years! The bread selection is more toward the back. There are tables of boxed donuts and sweet rolls, a case where you can buy single cookies, and then shelves of various kinds of bread, hot dog and burger rolls, English muffins, and so on. They did have some interesting things I don't usually see at stores, like brioche hot dog buns. But for the most part, it was basic white bread products. Unlike other reviewers, I didn't think the prices were especially cheap. They were lower than grocery stores, but maybe by 50 cents -- not a big enough difference to be worth making a special trip. If you have a big family or are stocking up for a big party, though, it could be worth it. To my surprise, I didn't find anything I wanted here, but I'm glad I finally went. If you are in need of large quantities of bread and rolls, this place is worth checking out! read more

I used to live a few blocks away from the bakery and I remember smelling freshly baked bread in the wEEee hours in the morning, :) Who doesn't like waking up to the smell of something baking in the oven? If you're looking to buy a lot of bread for cheap, this is the place to go! Unfortunately, I only buy enough bread to feed 2, so there is only so much I can get. The price (I think) is a lot cheaper than most grocery stores. Plus it fresh and comes right out the factory! Especially the freshly baked donuts in the morning...yum. The only place I will buy bread. I have been going to Gai's (as it will forever be known to me) since the early eighties. I only go really to the discount rack where they have loaves of all kinds of bread marked down to like a buck a loaf. I get Milton's whole grain or multigrain and oftentimes they have sprouted grain breads there too. They also often have those fancy $6 at Costco loaves of Apple Streudel bread that my mom-in-law goes crazy for. And you can bet it doesn't cost $6. Employees there are always really friendly, some faces I've been seeing for over a decade which makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I always leave with a bag full of bread and have never spent more than $6-$7. Oh and they usually give you a free loaf of sourdough or hotdog buns or whatever they have surplus of that day. This is a great place to buy discount bread, english muffins, pitas, cookies, etc. If you spend more than about three dollars, you seem to get a free loaf of bread. Sometimes the free loaf is fantastic-- once our free loaf made the best french toast ever. There are some healthy whole grain types available without preservatives, if that floats your boat as well. So, many times I have gone to this place after Church on Sundays to get some cheap, but, high quality bread. This week I got like 5 loaves of Special Dark (like a rye bread) and flax bread for like $5.75. It's cheap, day old bread that's sold at this outlet, and it's saved me so much $ now. This place saves me so much money! Not only do they sell cheap bread, they also have condiments and dry and canned goods. I go in here to buy shelf staples like tomato sauce, pasta, oatmeal and so on. When you spend a certain amount, you get to pick free bread from their extras. This place sucks! The bread is horrible and tastes like it's old. I much rather buy my bread and bakery elsewhere! Also, their tracker drivers are very rude and racists!!! I had accidentally parked in the back and one of them came out shouting at me and telling me to go back to Mexico! Very rude and racist! The staff is always friendly and quick to help you. Bread is 1/3 the price and I just stock up by throwing it in my freezer. The frozen bread helps my kids' whole lunch to stay cold and fresh. And they have Texas Toast bread. Fabulous for french toast! read more

This place is great if you set your expectations to "bakery outlet". You go here for affordable baked goods. We get some cinnamon bread, garlic bread and some dough-nuts usually after a dim sum breakfast. Ohh how I wanted to give Franz Outlet 5 stars!! I mean c'mon everyone around here knows Franz and I kind of knew what I was walking into when I visited. Im really not trying to knock Franz, the prices are simply unbeatable, for $23 and change I was seriously struggling to carry everything out! The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful, and to top it off you get free items as you walk out with purchases over $10! Ill admit if i was planning on a big backyard bbq or by chance needed to feed the entire U.S. Army, im fairly confident its within my budget at the Franz Outlet. But at the end of the day, between the bread and the buns, the cookies and everything else....its just Franz! Its nothing special! Its all standard grocery store bread, high production low quality folks, like every other bread you see in the grocery store. What can i say, if you want a lot of Franz bread for cheap go here. If you want good quality bread, definitely go somewhere else. Either way just be glad that if General Mattis ever calls and the troops need bread...you'll know where to send em'. Franz!!! read more
