The Firehouse grill lives up to its reputation!!…read more The food was all in large portions and delicious. We started strong with mozzarella cheese sticks and the pretzel and cheese appetizer. Fresh and hot defined these apps perfectly! The sticks were warm and stringy, the pretzels were warm, soft, and salty. The cheese dip was actually delicious and tasted nothing like a can mix. For the main courses we had the home made mac and cheese that was topped with pulled pork which was sauced in Sweet Baby Rays and the Loaded Nachos topped with the Firehouse's award winning chili. The food all came out sized for a table of 8 with savory and sweet hints of deliciousness! The waitress was welcoming, outgoing, and offered sound advice on food choices. The cook staff was timely and efficient, and the bar tender was busy busy slinging cups full of the nectar of God (BEER!!)! The Firehouse House ambience lived up to the name with firefighter equipment, first responder memorabilia, and crafty decor. The only downside to this establishment is that is dark and throws a dive bar vibe. 9/10... we will be coming back here for sure (and ordering less food)!!

Our waitress never once checked on us--we had to flag her down every single time, which made ordering drinks and food a chore rather than a relaxing night out. But honestly, the worst part of the night wasn't even the service. It was the fact that a couple brought their newborn to the bar and stayed from 8 PM to midnight. With loud music blasting, they passed the baby around and parade it around on the dance floor, never feeding the child once, but had no problem changing it on the air hockey table. It was disturbing to watch, and frankly, it made the entire atmosphere uncomfortable. A bar is no place for a newborn, especially late at night in that kind of environment. The only saving grace of the night was the band, Trans Am--they were absolutely phenomenal. They put on a great performance, but unfortunately, the energy in the bar was completely off. Nobody was dancing or really engaging with the music, which was a shame because they deserved a much better crowd. If management allows this kind of thing to happen, I don't see myself coming back. There are plenty of other dive bars that at least provide decent service and an environment where I don't have to question someone's parenting choices all night

Everything and I mean everything tasted awesome. The poutine was so rich and flavorful but also not over whelming. With the crunchy fries cheese and pulled pork it was an amazing dish. The Brussels were sweet and a touch of savory as well as being slightly charred. Reminded me more of collard greens but very tasty. The old fashioned... If your not a whisky drinker then it's probably not for you. I enjoy my whisky neat so sweet drinks aren't my thing however my better half likes those sweet drinks so we tried one. I never really considered checking it out until my in-laws suggested we go for lunch one day. I always just saw the sign and kept on driving. Now, it is good... and as a bariatric patient, I am usually pretty hesitant to try new places simply because of my restrictions; however, I was pleased to find that there were options that worked for my post-op food plan. Yes, there's a lot of fried options, and there's a lot of pasta, but the stir-fry is what got me saying, "yeah I'll give it a go," and later, "yeah, I'd come back." The food has been consistent, and with a young child (who is a fantastic eater and not that picky... but still), that's huge for us. The service has always been great. They are accommodating, punctual, and friendly. Our most recent visit was extra impressive, because our server happily made sure to spend a little extra time and had so much patience with my five year old who is learning how to order for himself. Give it a go, friends. It's a pretty solid spot.

Called to order the usual, Luncheon size gulf shrimp with onion rings ($3extra) with a garden salad, a meal that I always had left overs for the next day. I was informed that that was no longer offered. I agreed to order what was previously called a dinner portion knowing I would have plenty of left overs for a couple meals. Cost- $17 with the added onion rings. Picked up the order, got to the car, vented the container so the onion rings wouldn't get soggy on my 15 minute ride home. Boy, was I glad I peeked. I was shocked at what I saw, a very small amount of (10 gulf shrimp) even a smaller than the Luncheon portion EVER was. Thinking a mistake had been made I walked back into the restaurant to point out the error. NO ERROR was made, the order was correct. I opened the container so they could see and they only added the shrimp had been weighed and the amount was correct. The food was good as always and well prepared. I did enjoy it knowing it would be my last. Goodby and thank you decades of enjoyable food. The standards have changed, and I am sympathetic to raising operating costs, or the need to show increase profits, or what ever the reason, maybe they could be courteous and inform the customers of the changes before ordering. Might have taken the shock factor out of my last experience with them.

Kristina, our server, was outstanding--super friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. We also want to give a big shoutout to Patrick, who took the time to show Noah their awesome fish tank and chat with him. It's rare to find staff who are not only professional but also take such a personal interest in creating a great experience for kids. Now onto the food--the beet salad was phenomenal (fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented), and my wife had the chicken stew, which she said was comfort food at its finest. We couldn't resist grabbing a slice of pie since it was on special--let's just say we didn't leave a crumb behind. If you're ever in the Richmond area, we'd love to return the favor! Stop by Morning Moose Coffee and try our handcrafted drinks and fresh mini donuts--we love meeting fellow food lovers and locals.
