The bar, minus the barstools, thanks to coronavirus.

Although this place has been around for a couple of years this was our first trip. This basement pub has a very trendy vibe. They had a great specialty drink list. The beer list was small but they had a few very good selections. I guess that's all you need really. We were here pretty early in the evening And had most of the place to ourselves, but they seem to have a few regulars hanging around. The waitstaff and bartenders were very attentive and happily answered questions about their menu and their place. We opted for a snack of hand cut french fries with garlic aïoli mayo. These fries were divine! Their menu is pretty small overall, though. Free Wi-Fi. Lots of outlets. If they were open earlier in the day I might try to work from here sometime.

This is the "Somewhere Not Here" urban elixirrrrr.. next up, one of everything!

Ok ok.. I AM SORRY. I started this review months ago and after dropping my sister off (designated driving saves lives y'all!!!) I finally decided I needed to write my review. Yelper Fail!! First of all, the place is cute - in a very Wednesday Addams kind of way. Like, don't we all wanna be dark and moody and witty and well crafted? Even for a little while? Well if not, just don't go. Because that's exactly what this place is. A dark, moody, witty, well crafted... I wanna say bar- but it's more. Not quite a full on restaurant. Not a night club, but they do jam at night. A gathering spot. A watering hole. This is a small place. Quality over quantity. The kitchen is basically open to the bar. The bar is basically the whole joint. The whole joint is in the basement of a building. You could easily miss it. But, don't miss it. Go with a laid back crowd. Enjoy the heck out of their fabulous drinks. Get a bite to eat. My sis goes all the time and gets grilled cheese and booze. What a combo, amirite? I can't even remember what all we got to eat when I went, but the fact that I have repeatedly said "Al, write that dang review!" It's enough to make me go back and get more food and take good pictures and write good words. What I DO remember: chef: SUPER attentive. Hand delivered LOTS of food to LOTS of tables. Delivered silverware and napkins. (If you know how kitchens work you know that DOESN'T HAPPEN. He's a UNICORN.) bartender(s): well rounded, a loud one, a quiet one. Both knew the drinks without looking at the menu, didn't need to use a recipe book and made multiple drinks at once all while tending the whole joint. atmosphere: it reminds me of a deep conversation, does that make sense? If not.. just go see. It's kinda like.. the Addams Family meets the Central Perk, minus the coffee and the tv references. Just go.

Very personable and so passionate about this new life chapter with is wife (new owners since Feb. 2025). Everything is made to order so there can be a wait. Plus it gets busy at lunch. We suggest ordering your drink and maybe an appetizer while you study the menu. The mussels were amazing!!! Bigger than Prince Edward Island in a roasted tomato and chorizo sauce. Served with grilled buttered/seasoned sourdough bread. We brought the remaining sauce home. My husband ordered the beer battered fresh haddock sandwich with fries. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with cheese and bbq sauce on toasted sourdough. Also served with fries. Both so amazing. We had the the flour less chocolate torte with vanilla ice cream. The torte was very dense and rich. So good. The ice cream cut some of the richness. So elegant inside with the exposed brick, concrete floors and beautiful decorating. They take it up a notch with everything they do. Water served once you are seated. Silverware rolled in cloth napkins. Sourdough bread. No feeling that you have to rush through your meal. A little extra in food presentation; ketchup in a little dish with the fries for example. Great fries by the way. The outdoor dining area is set up with greenery to keep it private and decorated with little lights for that romantic feel. On Lincoln Street in the Bates Mill building. Please come visit Ryan and the staff. The prices are reasonable and they also serve dinner. Very happy.

Fresh and hot defined these apps perfectly! The sticks were warm and stringy, the pretzels were warm, soft, and salty. The cheese dip was actually delicious and tasted nothing like a can mix. For the main courses we had the home made mac and cheese that was topped with pulled pork which was sauced in Sweet Baby Rays and the Loaded Nachos topped with the Firehouse's award winning chili. The food all came out sized for a table of 8 with savory and sweet hints of deliciousness! The waitress was welcoming, outgoing, and offered sound advice on food choices. The cook staff was timely and efficient, and the bar tender was busy busy slinging cups full of the nectar of God (BEER!!)! The Firehouse House ambience lived up to the name with firefighter equipment, first responder memorabilia, and crafty decor. The only downside to this establishment is that is dark and throws a dive bar vibe. 9/10... we will be coming back here for sure (and ordering less food)!!

The brick and wooden beam architecture from the old milll remains which provides such an aesetically pleasing atmosphere. It is great that this building has been able to be repurposed . We sat at the bar which is a full bar. My son dines here often and recommened some dishes he had tried. There were many dishes on the menu I wanted to try! Garlic knots were the first things out and they were very tasty and addictive. My son decided on the linguini carbonara, although not a classic carbonara dish, it remains one of his favorites. I tried it and it was creamy, indulgent, fresh, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. I chose the gnocchi with in house made bolognese sauce topped with ricotta cheese. I loved it and it tasted even better heated up the next day. Entrees come with a choice of soup or salad; he went with the salad and I had the homemade Italian wedding soup. We were both pleased with our choices. The portions were quite generous, service was on point all evening, and the entire establishment and restrooms were immaculately clean and well organized. Our waitress never once checked on us--we had to flag her down every single time, which made ordering drinks and food a chore rather than a relaxing night out. But honestly, the worst part of the night wasn't even the service. It was the fact that a couple brought their newborn to the bar and stayed from 8 PM to midnight. With loud music blasting, they passed the baby around and parade it around on the dance floor, never feeding the child once, but had no problem changing it on the air hockey table. It was disturbing to watch, and frankly, it made the entire atmosphere uncomfortable. A bar is no place for a newborn, especially late at night in that kind of environment. The only saving grace of the night was the band, Trans Am--they were absolutely phenomenal. They put on a great performance, but unfortunately, the energy in the bar was completely off. Nobody was dancing or really engaging with the music, which was a shame because they deserved a much better crowd. If management allows this kind of thing to happen, I don't see myself coming back. On a Friday and Saturday night, prior to COVID, this place was always packed with guest sitting outside waiting for their name to be called. It's smaller in size compared to others, but the food for the most part is worth the wait. Staff has always been friendly and they tend to work hard because they have more tables than a typical waiter/waitress some establishments have. The pictures are from a visit in 2017, but the quality and customer service has not changed since then which is a sign management has high expectations when they hire staff. That visit I had the wonton chicken tacos for an appetizer which were good. chicken was cooked nicely and had good flavor. The slaw adds a nice crunchy texture and the use of a wonton wrapper adds additional crunch and texture to the overall experience. The key to the true success of the tacos is the squeeze of lime over each taco. It is night and day when you taste with and without. Don't forget the lime. My dinner was a chicken fried steak over mashed potatoes with a nice brown gravy, topped with onion rings. Chicken was cooked nicely with the breading slightly overcooked, but still tasty. Mashed potatoes when combined with the gravy were really good and I could have eaten more. Desert was their chocolate lava cake. This dessert was not short of chocolate in any way. You had the chocolate cake with oozing chocolate sauce with a white vanilla frosting drizzle and then they take chocolate sauce and drizzle it across the entire plate allowing you to scoop a little up with each bite. It's a major sweet bomb which will satisfy any sweet tooth. Overall, I am happy with this location, the food and its staff. I have gone back many times since the pictures, I just haven't been as active checking in or taking pictures as there are evenings where I disconnect and enjoy the human social interaction.
