The meatloaf lacked seasoning except for the strong taste of the charred top. It was drowned in a brown gravy made with canned mushrooms. On top were the worst string beans I have ever had, they were undercooked and bitter. The vegetarian squash dish was a Delicata squash filled with mashed sweet potato that completely overpowered the squash taste, and covered with a low quality mozzarella cheese. The 'dip' served with crackers when you arrive at the table tasted like Velveeta and pimentos mixed with gelatin to give it a weird thick consistency. The desserts were ok but nothing special. The servers were friendly and pleasant, but the level of service did not match the price point. Utensils were not picked with and then replaced with the removal of completed plates. New dishes were served before the completed dishes had been removed. The experience seemed rushed as they took the entire order at the beginning and then pushed the courses without a break. Finally the wine list was far overpriced for the quality of wines being offered. For example: El Jefe Tempranillo costs $10.99 retail and the price at Sedgley was $64. They were charging $17 for one glass. That is simply an unreasonable mark up for a pretty poor quality wine. The Mark David Lodi Zinfandel retails at $13, Sedgley charges $58, and it was also not a great tasting wine. While I know there are not a lot a classy restaurants in this area, but it is worth the drive to Bistro Milliard or Slates in Hallowell, or Fishbones in Lewiston to get a much better meal at a more reasonable price.
