Pretty disappointed with our meal here, although it was clearly a fairly popular location with locals. We were given a 15 minute wait which was quickly cut to 5 minutes by a friendly front-of-house worker, but that was the end of the good experience. We were immediately given coffee and water, coffee is bottomless, but $2.50 and served before seeing the menu, which can be annoying if you're used to your diner coffee coming with breakfast. We both ordered the cheap breakfast combo, which was $10 + $2 additional charge for your choice of meat. Our eggs were undercooked, (runny whites) our toast was burnt, my hash-browns were cold and clearly from a freezer bag. My additional $2 earned me 2 very thin slices of bacon. We were not impressed by the food, but I was downright annoyed when the $24 bill I expected arrived at a smooth $32. In our bill they included a fun hidden 1% service fee for the "back of house" which I incorrectly assumed would not be needed considering the existence of payroll... To top off my frustrations the servers were loud behind the counter the whole time we were there, and the suggested tips on the receipt started at 20%!! - What an insult to the customers intelligence. These are Sysco scammers trying to take about 30% more than the customer wants to pay at every turn for extremely poor quality breakfast food. Should have cooked in the airBnB, would have saved money and had a more satisfying experience. read more

This amazing woman managed the entire dining room all by herself including hostess, cash register, and waitress. She was a a phenomenon and kept everyone very happy and fed. The food was quite good, especially the hash. Coffee was also "diner delicious". This place has been here for eternity, and I have never had a bad experience. Give it a try. read more

Went to the Brunswick Diner at the recommendation of the motel manager, and he was spot on! A true gem of a local breakfast place. Sat at the counter, because there were crowds on most days. Space is a bit cramped, but the diner was very cute. On the first day, there was only one pretty waitress working. She seemed a little frazzled but still very friendly to both regulars and new, like me. Food was very good and filling. Got a typical breakfast plate on the first day, of eyes, hash browns, and toast. Second day, I had Egg Benedict , and the ham was a good half inch thick! Going again today! Day#3 Update: The beautiful manager/owner recognized me, having come in 3 days in a row! I really like this place! This time, I had the Tutti Frutti waffles, with sausage links and eggs over easy on the side. Finished everything! Will definitely stop in again, if I'm in the area! read more

Got seated for a table of 3 right away on a Friday for lunch by the kind host. They have large windows that open and allow lots of fresh air in. We were feeling pretty full from a weekend of eating so we shared all of our dishes. I got their Bowdoin bowl with a side of gravy. The tots were crispy and so all the veggies on top were perfect for it. The biggest improvement could have been the "poached" egg that was really overcooked in a cupcake tin. Miss B's was a good amount of food and prepared well. The side of avocado was a store-bought more watery version than I am used to seeing. The Demi salad was very simple and plain. The cornbeef hash was seasoned well but could have benefited from more of a char. Overall, this is a good classic diner vibe that I imagine has not changed much over multiple decades. Staff were super friendly and as efficient as they could be given the tight quarters. Would come again. read more

Our family was in the area on vacation. We love pancakes and these are the best we've had anywhere! With those tiny sweet Maine blueberries too. So good we went twice during our stay! It's an old school classic diner with a jukebox and diner classics with a twist. The owner is out front with customers and is a true delight. Updating my review from 6 years ago. The egg white omelet is still good - and now on the menu (check out the Betty White). I love that a grilled biscuit is a bread option. The sourdough is great too. What a great find! Usually, I don't go out to eat in an area I'm not familiar with without consulting Yelp. But on this occasion, we both decided to stop for breakfast at the first appealing-looking place we encountered on the way to our destination. The Brunswick Diner caught our eye--it's hard to miss--and in we pulled (after pulling a 'u-ey' because we missed the entrance to the parking lot initially). We were happy we did. After the fact I learned that Brunswick Diner has a solid 3.8-star rating on Yelp, and I'm not surprised.  This place has 'a look' -- a combination of old-school diner meets 50's soda fountain meets a classic Maine lobster pound. Not sure if that's what they were going for, but that's what I took away.  They have outdoor seating in the summer, which looks very inviting, and indoor seating (booths and a counter). We opted for the counter because there was no wait.  They were super busy when we were there this Sunday morning, but I bet that's usually the case. Despite being slammed, the staff--starting with the hostess who's stationed outside as you enter the outdoor seating area from the parking lot--was super friendly and pleasant, as well as attentive to our needs. She had the Miss B's--two eggs you like with bacon and home fries. There's nothing special about this dish--it's typical American breakfast fare--but it arrived exactly as she wanted it (eggs over easy, bacon not too crispy, home fries, and toast).  I had the Sinatra -- homemade beef brisket hash, two eggs as you like, home fries, and toast (I opted for the grilled homemade biscuit upgrade). My hash was delicious but a little bland, honestly. There were no onions, garlic, or potatoes in the hash that I could taste--just the meat. And it was ground a little too finely for my taste. Typically, a homemade hash is on the course side. (I'm NOT suggesting it wasn't homemade. I'm only saying I prefer the coarser grind and some add-ins that I've come to expect in a homemade hash.) All in all, we were pleased with our choice and would stop here again if we were ever in the area and were looking for breakfast or lunch. read more

In search of breakfast on Saturday morning, my two friends and I stumbled upon the Brunswick Diner in our visit to Maine. We saw a small line as we pulled up to the parking lot but it turned out to be just a 10 minute wait before we were seated at one of their outdoor tables. Most of the seats seemed to be outside as the inside looked like a cramped old-school dinner so I'm glad we were able to enjoy the sunshine. After a few minutes of browsing the menu, we decided to order some mimosas, a chocolate chip pancake to share and I got a lobster benedict because when in Maine... The staff was very friendly and talked to us a bit about the area and our plans for the weekend. After 10 minutes or so, all of our food arrived to the pleasure of our empty stomachs. The lobster benedict tasted great and the egg was perfectly poached but I would've preferred a little more hollandaise sauce on top. The home fries that came with the meal were decent but nothing special in the realm of breakfast potatoes, I added a bunch of hot sauce to jazz it up a bit. Service was horrible. Waited a long time for the orders to be taken even after trying to wave down waitstaff who were more interested in talking with other diners. Slow slow slow. Actually beyond slow. I have seen dead people move quicker. Was promised a refill on my coffee and never came back around to fill it. Asked when finished with the overcooked meal if I wanted more. No thanks. Had the Billy Joel and the shaved steak was so crispy it was almost inedible. The home fries were teeny tiny cubes of potato that were deep fried to over crispness. Gave a good cleaning to my teeth but otherwise not very flavorful. The bread they passed for toast was soggy with butter but neglecting that toasted flavor that actual toast has. Me and another fellow came from a distance to try out the place. I had missed it the first time, but saw the man I met waiting for it to open. I asked if he was from around the area and he said that like me he has driven over 25 minutes to try it out. We were turned away as the cook wanted to grab something from home. The old school diner has been placed on the endangered species list of restaurants, so when I find one, I like to support the establishment. This okd train car has the right ambience abd an old timer who served in the military said it hadn't changed in a half century. I don't know if he's right, but the vibe is there. The food is exactly what you would expect, simple, tasty, old school. About the only thing that could use some attention are their homefries which are kind of bland. I ate here three times, working my way through the bfast menu. You can't go too wrong. My server was awesome and really likes people. She made the diner that much friendlier. Food: I have been going to the Brunswick Diner for years. I have always been happy with my food but during the pandemic the diner ended up hiring a new chef and it has raised the bar immensely. The diner purchases local and fresh in order to create the best dining experiences for its customers and to support other local businesses. My table got crab cakes, a Philly cheese steak sandwich with onion rings, and fish and chips. The crab cakes were full of fresh veggies and crab that made the flavor explode. They are served with a tasty aioli that adds a perfect kick of heat to further elevate the dish. The cheese steak sandwich was packed. It was overflowing and well balanced so I got a little bit of everything in every bite. The onion rings, and fish and chips had the perfect amount of seasoning mixed into the coating. The cook uses more than just basic salt and pepper and the effort that was put into revamping the menu here was well spent. I've also tried their waffle and it is probably the best I've eaten. It is so crisp and perfectly golden brown on the outside and has the perfect light dusting of powdered sugar. next i'm looking forward to trying the homemade corn beef hash. I've seen the amount of effort and care that the chef put into making it and I can't wait to try it for myself. Service: The service here is top notch. I usually see Cassidy hustling to keep everyone happy. The diner can get packed quickly but she will take the time to update her customers if there is a delay, so no one feels ignored. I've seen her deal with difficult customers with absolute grace while still keeping up a near jog to single handedly take orders, deliver food, and clear tables all while being friendly and kind. Ambience: This place is exactly what you picture if you were to think of a classic diner. The dining area is a train car that has booths along one wall and bar with stools along the other. It can get a little tight when it is crowed, but retro appeal is worth it. There is even a jukebox that allows customers to select a song from their table. read more

It's a nice restaurant but the food could be improved with some seasonings, and oil on the potatoes and butter on the omelets. If i'm being honest, the eggs were scorched which i don't like due to lack of butter. The Hash browns just weren't. If i showed them how hash browns should be made and they would increase profits regardless. What they served was diced potatoes with absolutely no seasoning which resulted in no flavor. You can tell from the pictures. They taste as they look, pretty bland. I didn't see or taste any peppers, onions, butter or paprika. The omelette was dry. No cheese. People, please stop making dry omelettes, the ingredients just fall all over the place. You have to utilise the ingredients to hold it together so your not chasing the food all around the plate. P.S. hash browns are funny because if you cover them it add moisture which softens the potatoes making them more hash. Less time covered means less moisture which means they'll be more crispy. When i go back i am going to show them how to make hash brown/smothered potatoes. Great atmosphere and setting. Very bohemian slash woodstock in a small way. I admit that I love diners. This old school diner is a gem. My 5 star rating doesn't mean 5 star gourmet food - but it does mean 5 star diner food! The soups are always fresh and delicious. The clam chowder was reminiscent of my childhood and very traditional in style to this location. Every plate that comes out is cooked fresh to order, and enough in my opinion for 2. Great sandwiches and specials. And they have to-go heat at home family meals every day for about $7/pp. The prosecco with fresh juice was a great starter for my monkfish stew. At 1030on a Sunday the place was packed, but there's always a stool at the long traditional counter. Outside tables, shielded from the street, are a great option (but probably not year round). Staff are wicked friendly. The day I was there kitchen staff was short, and the menu limited, but not by much. Prices are very reasonable especially for what you get. Small old fashioned diner apparently quite well known tho I'd never been before. Met a friend for breakfast. Started at the counter until a booth opened. Small, very small place. Outdoor seating available and weather was warm but cloudy but it was an option. We both had classic Benedict's and while good, felt very rushed by servers to "turn tables" and was literally asked to leave, like our time was up(was barely an hour we were there). She told us "there's a line around the building of people waiting for a booth" meanwhile plenty of outdoor seating open. We left and found it funny...no line around the building. Not even a line that extended from their outdoor seating. So my friend and I were a little upset as paying customers to be rushed out after an hour to turn a table. I mean, build a bigger place ‍ While the food and coffee were good, the service ruined it for me and I'll never return. read more

Let me start with the positives: the service and the atmosphere, and the food. My server was kind, quick, and courteous, and I absolutely loved the level of care provided. And the diner truly feels like something straight out of the fifties- it's great. The food was pretty good- nothing special, but a fairly decent waffle, especially for the five minute wait time I had. My only complaint is that my milkshake was a bit too thin.
