It's been almost 10 years since I reviewed Big Top Deli and I thought I would refresh so that readers know I still enjoy this Deli. There's a reason we keep coming back - the food and service. The ambiance is ok. Basic tables and chairs and some "circus" type of decorations on the wall. They have a pretty consistent menu that really hasn't changed, at least not that I have noticed. They have "signature" sandwiches or you can build your own. They have hot and cold deli sandwiches available. They also have wedge fries that are oven baked. Family favorites; Sonny's Supreme and the classic italian. I also also love their breakfast sandwich options. They have a cooler of beverages. My favorite is Fresca. A soda I never have at home and I soda I always buy when I can at a deli. Pairs perfectly. Don't sleep on the sweets for sale by the register. The cookies and whoopie pies are usally tasty. The staff seems consistent - hardworking, customer service oriented and nice to interact with. They keep the simple dining area as clean as they are able - during the lunch hours during the week - this place is always packed!!! Wow...it's great to see and hope this means this buiness will stay around for years to come. Parking - many parking options within .5 mile from the location. I really wanted to like Big Top Deli. My coworkers hyped it up to me a number of times and finally I took the opportunity to join them on a lunch break and give it a try. They have a very large menu and after sifting through it a bit, I chose "The Big Top" which is a pastrami Reuben. I, personally love Reubens and was excited to try a variation that was the namesake. I was ultimately dissapointed that the sandwich wasn't served on Rye bread and was considerably smaller than the sandwiches my coworkers got. The sandwich itself was tasty but the juices from the sauce made the bread soggy by the time we made it back to the office (short drive). I'm not sure if I made a bad decision or if my review accurately reflects the quality - I won't be going back unless I'm sitting down to eat the sandwich right away and I won't be getting the "The Big Top" again. read more

I haven't been to Big Top Deli in a LONG time. When I used to work locally it was a staple, at least once a week. I called in an order to go right around noon on Wednesday, 3/19/25. I talked to Tony and he was friendly and helpful as he always has been. A salad without onions or tomatoes with ranch for her and a Cheddar Melt no onions for me. Tom recommend honey mustard and on sourdough, of course I took his recommendations! It was packed when I arrived and there were several people waiting for to go orders. The space is bright and has lots of tablesBig Top does a brisk business, they get the food out real fast! My sandwich was everything I wanted it to be and my friend loved her salad that had the toppings laid out in sections and looked so pretty! This place has been in Brunswick for a long time and I can see why not sure why it took me so long to review it.The sandwiches are huge l, fresh and delicious . The staff is so great always cheerful and accommodating and efficient . We got the turkey club and wedge fries both we're excellent. Also got an eggplant parm sub which was very good. Hubby and I were looking for a place to stop in for a quick breakfast/brunch before some exploring. We drove into Brunswick and found Big Top Deli. I was happy to see they served breakfast all day. It was late morning but we both wanted breakfast sandwiches. I ordered a corned beef, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. Hubby ordered the Rockies breakfast sandwich. The breakfast sandwiches were made to order, served hot and wrapped in foil. Both breakfast sandwiches were really good. Not huge but very filling. I liked my corned beef, egg and cheese a lot. The corned beef was house-made. It was my first time trying a bulkie roll, it held up well and tasted very fresh. The egg was perfectly cooked, medium yolk. Hubby liked his Rockies breakfast sandwich, too. The green peppers, onions and ham were delicious with the scrambled eggs on the fresh bulkie roll. If you're looking for a great sandwich and excellent customer service, this is the place. I have been going here for years, and it has never disappointed. The customer service is always top notch. Nothing I have gotten has ever been bad. Whether it's a pastrami sandwich, hot dog, salad, etc it is all fantastic. I am particular to the Big Top sandwich and "The Dog". Everything is also fresh and the best deli meats and cheeses. They slice it all on location and cook it all fresh. The owner is an amazing person. I've met him a few times and he has always been very accommodating and giving. I've gathered he donates and helps out his local community a lot. I believe that is why the customer service is so great. If you have a great owner, who treats their employees with respect, then the employees tend to be great, as well. They all seem to enjoy working there and love what they are doing. Some of the best customer service I've ever had. And it's why I alway come back. The ONLY negative I could possibly think of is if you have a fear of clowns, you might not like the feel of the place. It's supposed to be like a circus, hence "Big Top". But honestly, I think it just adds to the fun and joyous feeling you get when you are there. The prices are fair, the food is fresh and top notch, and the customer service is what others should aspire to be. This is one of my favorite places, period. What a great place! The service was great. We ordered at the counter. The menu is extensive and varied. So many of the options sounded good. My husband enjoyed the hot Reuben sandwich. If you are in Brunswick, Big Top Deli has to be a stop. Sandwiches are all made with freshly sliced meats, to order. Any imaginable sandwich breakfast or lunch, they have it. Well. I know this is a great, much loved place and I've loved it in the past. But, I must say, both the reuben and the pastrami special... where's the meat? This is the biggest difference between what the other reviewer said... closest you'll get to a NY deli... it's not close. It's about 1/4th of the corned beef or pastrami you'd get, in other words not much at all. We opened our sandwiches twice to stare at the paltry amount of meat. One of the best Deli's I've ever been to. I adore the circus theme and they have just about every sandwhich you can think of and more. All sandwhiches are made using boarhead meat but crafted in a special way. The owner/ manager Tony is wonderful. He guided us through the menu and suggested the bread type. I went for The Goose: Smoked turkey, smoked gouda, avocado, cucumber and honey mustard. It was so delicious and I loved the chips that came with it. My family got the GOBBLER: Turkey, stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce. Basically Thanksgiving in a sandwich. My boyfriend is gluten free and dairy free and he got a burger on. What a great refuge spot for a hot sandwich on a bitterly cold and windy day in Dec. We were on our "Sunday Drive" on a Tuesday and found ourselves in Brunswick and hungry. The Big Top was perfect. We parked in front where we could read the window front menu from the warmth of our car. We decided to split a cheese steak sandwich and some fries. Sadly they were out of fries but happy to say the free onion rings to compensate were a great substitute. Came here randomly on a day out on the Brunswick strip and we shared a breakfast sandwich, wedges, and coffee. Nothing special and nothing stellar either. The staff were nice and it was very busy. They are definitely a sandwich place! I kept hearing other people order the Goose sandwich, which looked pretty good on the menu, but alas, I wasn't hungry nor in the mood for a sammy. My dad took me here when I was visiting him in Maine. My dad is a regular. I was very skeptical looking at the outside. You would never know how great this place is from the looks of it. It's in a plain store front and the inside is super casual and plain. But the food!!!!!!!!! The Staff!!!!! I fell in love with Michael the order taking guy. What a sweetheart. Best attitude and customer service ever. He is a delight and made our experience perfect. He helped my dad and me create/pick our sandwiches and he was spot on. He told me to come back after I ate my sandwich to let him know if I liked it. Liked it, I loved it! (I had the veggie reuben). I marched right up to him and told him I loved him and the sandwich (haha) They have a huge menu of sandwiches with a ton of healthy choices. The prices for the size of the sandwiches is reasonable. I told everyone I talked to on my vacation about this place. When I saw my brother I immediately asked if he had ever been here and it turns out he used to work there in high school (which I never knew). What a unique place settled snug on Main St in downtown Brunswick. I love it! All the neat photographs of Barnum and Bailey's Circus. Wow...talk about bringing up childhood memories (no, I was not fortunate enough to take part in the amazing craft). I remember when the circus came to town and my Mother tried to pawn me off...I mean got us tickets.. to the circus. So cool. Okay, the burgers and fries! Wow! Hot, fresh, a charred-grilled flavor, and those potato wedges! Delicious. The service can only be described in one word and one word only, Excellent. No more and no less than excellent. Watching the news after a huge snowstorm the day prior, interview with the owner of this little gem was on. As we are close, decided to give it a try. Bam! New go-to sandwich shop in the area. We viewed the menu online and ordered via phone. The Gobbler for me on toasted sourdough, excellent bread made for themSwiss. Sliced turkey, sage stuffing and a smear of crandberry..added a little mayo and i was very happy. Hubby had the grilled rueben with Cole slaw...had a bite and it was excellent with creamy thousand island and swiss. Sandwiches come with chips and a slice of pickle. You can sub out chips for potato wedges...real wedges that are crispy and delicious for $2 more...well worth it if you are a fry lover. Bread choices include bagels, rye, white, wheat, wraps, 7 or 12 inch grinder. We tried another round on 12 in grinder rolls and it is a big sandwich. If you are in the mood for breakfast, they have bagels, bagel sandwiches and just about any combo you can think of they can probably put it together for you. Order ahead and you won't have to wait other than stand in line to pay. No separate line for pick up, the one drawback if you called ahead and have newbies staring at the menu and can't decide.
