My wife, daughter, and I popped in for a slice of pizza while our car charged at the nearby Superchargers. They had a dozen pies to choose from, including several varieties we hadn't seen before, like one covered in baked ziti and another with buffalo chicken. The man at the counter was patient with us while we surveyed the choices. Once selected, we had our hot slices in five minutes. Each was delicious and hit the spot for a late lunch. Most folks were taking things to go, but several tables had dine-in customers. We'll be back again when we are passing through to recharge our car and ourselves. read more

Today I went to Frank's Pizza of Pompton Lakes to pick up a Turkey and Provolone Cheese with lettuce, tomatoes and onions on it. I asked for mustard to be placed on my sandwich but instead they put mayonnaise on it!!! One I hate and allergic to mayonnaise. Our favorite pizza spot after hitting the gym , ha! This is an old school pizzeria that has a dining room seating area as well. We usually order the personal white pizza or calzone to share . Portions are generous and a small pizza compared to a personal is similar in size. We have had many of their pasta dishes and overall all the food is delicious. read more

Mediocre expensive pizza. $18 for 3 slices? Yikes! Last time I checked this isn't an airport. And they weren't even gourmet slices - we got sausage, bbq chicken, and one another pretty standard slice. We were shopping at Lidl next door and thought we'd grab some slices on the way home. I've been here once or twice before and don't remember it being so ridiculously priced. There are way better pizzerias in the area so I won't be coming back. read more

Frank's is part of a strip mall, nestled between Wanaque and Pompton Lakes. On my last visit, I ordered a drunken grandma slice and it was one of the best slices I have ever eaten in my life. The sauce was heavy but delicious and slice was slightly doughy. On this visit, I opted for a chicken parmigana sandwich which was made just like I requested. The sandwich was good. I can't rave enough about Gene and the gang at Frank's Pizza. Our son was in a play at StageWorks 237 on Hamburg Turnpike. We don't know the area well but I was looking, last minute (Thurs 11/3, the first night of the show) for somewhere to have a cast party for 19 kids and at least one chaperone per kid on Sat 11/5 after the show. Finding an appropriate place was proving to be very difficult because apparently most places in the area close by 8:30p, even on Saturday. I asked the pizza place closest to the theater, which shall remain nameless, but they turned me away, even though I was going to guarantee them 30-40 people. I kept googling and found Frank's, just a minute down the road. I was nervous to ask because of how I was treated at the other place but I cautiously asked Gene if they could host our party. He enthusiastically agreed. What made this even nicer is that they actually close at 8:30p but would stay open for us - which meant that we had the whole place to ourselves! We started trickling in about 8:50p. Approximately 40 people. Gene had a full staff - two wonderful servers who graciously dealt with our chaos and like four guys dealing with the counter orders. There was more than enough food, everything was delicious, and they couldn't have been nicer. If we do any other plays at StageWorks or Rhino theaters, Frank's will be our only choice for our cast party. It was so amazing for the kids to have closure on their play in such a great space. It's large, clean, and the servers are fantastic. I don't know if they normally do parties but if you're thinking of having a large gathering in this area, this is the place to do it. All my previous reviews stand. But tonight, I had some of the best lamb stew ever! Nice, generous chunks if butter-tender lamb, enhanced with white beans and escarole. I chose spaghetti, and it wotmrked really well, especially because the juice was just that - from the lamb, beans and escarole. It was not a thickened gravy. Incredibly good! If you call and have your order delivered, please check your order to make sure it's correct before giving the driver the money. Once the driver leave he will not come back. My order was incorrect and the owner refused to give me my correct order. He will not send his driver back to deliver your correct order. I was told I would need to drive there myself to get my order. The owner is very rude and arrogant. See the photo below of the owner yelling at me. He never apologized and told me it was my fault that his employee wasn't able to comprehend my simple order. He said his employee repeated it back which he did but relayed my order incorrectly to the cook when he hung up the phone. But that was all my fault and not the employees. Make sure you call a day in advance because the pizzas never ready. Pizza is similar to a burnt roofing shingle with rancid sauce, looks like a brown hubcap. Used to be good now questionable along with some of the help. Move on up the road to Boniellos a much better pizza. read more

I don't know how Yelp's algorithm works, but all my good reviews from the past year have vanished. I was traveling frequently from Gettysburg, PA to Connecticut to see my old army combat paratrooper buddy while she was dying. On the way back one time I had to take a break, and it happened to be on exit 55. I stopped into Franks, and it was one of the best things I ever did. I met Gene, and he treated me like family - along with his wife Cynthia. I've made the long trip so many times, and I always stop to see Gene for a load of slices and cannolis for my wife and friends. As for the prices people complain about - I have no idea. The pies and selection are so good, I just pay what they ask. My buddy did pass away in October, and I brought my wife to CT to celebrate my her birthday last month. She wanted to see this "Franks" place I was always talking about. Gene treated my wife like a queen, and his staff couldn't have been nicer (as usual). On the way up we picked up a bunch of Gene's cannolis for the party, and the Italians in the family were totally impressed. If you go to Franks, don't miss the cannoli! On the way back to PA, we stopped in again, and got a bunch of slices and cannolis for our neighbors (kids) who took care of our animals while we were away. That was a huge hit - you can't get pizza that good around here. I can't understand the poor reviews about Gene and his food. He has been so good to this old army combat paratrooper, and now to my wife. Gene and his staff have treated my wife and me like family, and his chow is outstanding. We'll be traveling to CT in October to attend a memorial Mass for the one year anniversary of the passing of my buddy, and it's guaranteed that we'll pull off on exit 55 to see Gene and the gang. I tried Frank's once a while ago and was disappointed in the meals I got and told myself not to go back again. Of course I was over that way tonight and hungry - went in for a slice of pizza, but then remembered I'm suppose to be eating healthy. So I looked over the menu and came across shrimp scampi. Sounded good so I ordered it even though they charge an additional $3 for a side of veggies over a side of pasta. But I figured, hey it's payday, should probably live it up. The veggies were the best part of the meal so they were well worth $3. Everything else - extremely disappointing. 5! Yes 5 shrimp...without any flavor, average size, tail on and rubbery, in a container with garlic and scallions. What happened to that lemon garlic sauce I thought would be so good? And 5?! How cheap can you get. Terrible for a dinner costing nearly $25. (Insane! Definitely pictured a larger portion - my mistake I should have asked.) It also came with a side salad. Couldn't even enjoy that since there was old, brown lettuce through out...and they even included the part of the head of lettuce that you usually throw out, not sure what it's called but I normally wouldn't eat it. Needless to say I have learned my lesson and next time if I'm in the area I'll remember to drive through Wendy's for a grilled chicken wrap off the dollar menu. If you like cold French fries, and an Italian sub with literally two slices of meat, overloaded with lettuce & onions when you asked for a "light" amount & NO oil, vinegar, or mayo when it obviously is a part of the sandwich, then this is your place! And if I'm really trying to sell you on Frank's, if you like being 1/4 through your sandwich (that's already very upsetting) & finding a piece of human hair in it , then this is definitely your place to go! Went to Franks last night for my Dad's 87th birthday. The owner, Gene always takes care or us. My Dad love the linguini with seafood, it is a huge portion and the sauce is amazing to sop up with the bread. OH, FRANKS!!! WHY DID YOU GO WRONG? I used to think so highly of your pizza. But tonight - It was a Friday night at 10:23p when I called. I should have known better when the girl on the phone said "Hey, are we still making pizzas tonight?" You close at 11p. Certainly there was time to make a pizza. I requested it "well done". You remember. Because what I deduce happened next was one of those pre-made pizzas found on the shelf below - wound up in the oven, reheated, and boxed for me to take home. There is no way this pizza was freshly prepared. Upon opening the box at home, I immediately noticed the sauce was dark red (oxidation), not bright red. Cheese was dry and far from bubbly. You tricked me, Franks. You put a 'used pizza' you couldn't sell at the end of the night - and pawned it off on me for late night dinner that night. If you at least were honest - I could have, er, stomached it better. Now I worry about food-borne illness after ingestion - since I have no idea how long the pie was sitting around for this evening. If indeed this pizza was made "fresh", it paled in comparison to even a frozen Shop-Rite pizza - which means what it says... Please don't do that again to any other customers - particularly those that would like to still patronize your establishment. We stopped here for takeout and ordered (online) a variety of items- 3 types of pizza by the slide, a pasta dish, an entree salad, and garlic knots. Despite signs on the doors and external windows directing customers to wear masks, the staff inside were not wearing masks correctly- 1 employee didn't have one on, and the other 2 were wearing them but pulled down so their noses and mouths were exposed. The pizza was fine (we ordered slices of 4 cheese, plain cheese, and white pizza). The "pasta with broccoli and white sauce" was swimming in watery weak broth with large slices of burned garlic. The garlic bread was barely warm and had been lightly brushed with flavorless oil. I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

Frank's has good food and table service. The problem is with the owner. He charged more for menu items than was printed on the menu and said the prices had changed. After some discussion, he led us to believe that he would charge us the menu prices. When we gave him a credit card, the receipt indicated that he charged us using the new prices! What's even worse, when I received my credit card statement, there was an Additional Charge of $10! The owner is a cheat and a liar. His unscrupulous and deceitful behavior outweighs the quality and value of the food the restaurant serves. read more
