I said no!!!! a HAM and cheese calzone!!!. she walked away further into the kitchen near the ovens , She repeated again a cheese calzone? Again I said no!!! Has been my go to place for years. Last year or two has been so inconsistent, not sure what changed, maybe just got too popular. Food almost always arrives cold now and they never deliver when they say. Had many issues with orders over the years but it's a pizza place, have to expect that. Spoke to owner on recent issue and he is an absolute jerk, sure don't have to put up with that. Hundreds of orders, thousands of dollars, lunches, dinners, catering and one bad interaction with a owner who doesn't care is all you need to lose a customer. The food really is just ok, order meals usually once a week and pizza in Friday's and been going downhill for awhile. We stopped ordering from them, and have learned, as suspected, they were sold. The owners are cheaping out, and not using the same quality ingredients from their suppliers. Don't order from them. Totally hit the skids. We used to order at least $35 of food every weekend, so at least 4X a month. We just gave them a second chance and ordered a pizza. It made us ill. We only ate one slice each. The toppings and extra cheese were added later, and you could clearly see it, as the new cheese was puddled in the middle. It was awful. I should have called the health department. We threw the rest out. The zucchini sticks were a cheap greasy different brand, that smelled like they were coated with sugar. Placed a delivery order, it was late and incorrect. Gave them a second chance and called a week later, order was also delivered incorrectly. Ingredients seem to be a lower quality than in the past. The plain pizza was so bad we threw it out! It is frustrating when one of your favorite places is sold and the new owners try to lower costs at the expense of quality. Solid Italian food. Our family of four have ordered here at least three times in the past week. The food is great! Portions are plentiful. I could easily make three meals out of one dinner portion. Growing up in Butler, this was the family pizza place. I have always enjoyed their pizza, their sandwiches are huge (like three meals) and their small salads actually are filled with chicken unlike some places that charge big bucks for 90% lettuce. Visiting my mom's last week we ordered delivery (tip use THEIR website, it's easier to customize your meal and there are coupons and no crazy surcharges that DoorDash and Grubhub hit you with). Order came 20 minutes early, the driver was super friendly, food blazing hot butttt they messed up my buffalo chicken salad (I asked for grilled chicken...but there was no buffalo sauce but no big deal, it was still a delicious salad and they left off the onions thank god, so it's forgivable!). Happy to see this place still is turning out good food and reasonable prices! read more

We are on a mission to find the best Margarita, Grandma, & Grandpa Pizza in North Jersey! We gave AJ's Pizza, Butler, NJ a try. We ordered the Margarita pie, pepperoni pie, and a Grandma. Up first the Margarita pie: the dough was okay - a little dry/overcooked. The fresh mozzarella was placed on the pie perfectly, revealing the sauce. The sauce was very similar to the sauce used on the traditional pie. The basil did not have too much taste mostly due to it being baked onto the pie. Overall this was not a bad margarita pie especially for the price. What we really enjoyed with AJ's is their online ordering, prices, and coupons that can be added directly to the online cart! SO far this has been the easiest and best ordering experience for us. A job well done, AJ 's on this! The Grandma. No difference with the Margarita. Basically, they took the margarita and threw it on a square pizza. The dough was the same as the Margarita. We were missing the fresh garlic and sweeter sauce for this. Note: AJ's did not have a Grandpa (or upside down sicilian) on the menu so we couldn't give that a try. Instead we ordered a small pepperoni. The dough was fresher than the other two pies, cheese cooked perfectly, and not too greasy. This was definitely the best of the three. Onto the next pizzeria, we are trying one every Friday night. What else is there to do during this pandemic? Any suggestions on what pizzeria we should try next... let us know!!! read more

I got two regular cheese pizza's last night, as soon as I opened the box I realized something was odd, I then read here the place changed ownership. The crust was horrible, tasted like someone didn't know how to make dough. The cheese so so salty it was overbearing. now that I know its under new ownership Im done with this place. Once the place sold under new ownership, food quality has downgrade it. It does not taste the way it used to taste. Went to order a sandwich and a Gyro on January 14 at 2:45 PM. I took a picture, the baldheaded guy in front I believe he's the owner or manager told me I have no right to take any pictures and told me to get the f*ck out and to go f*ck myself. I can't say enough good things about the food and service from AJs. It's been my go to for pizza for several years and it is always delicious. They are one of the few pizza places that has things like grilled chicken parm and whole wheat or gluten free pasta on their menu--no awkwardly asking if they have it. The different pizzas they have are amazing. Some of my favorites is the eggplant rollatini and the cheeseburger and the bruschetta pies. Best part about the pizza- if you can't decide get a few personal or small ones!! There can sometimes be quite a wait for delivery (about an hour at peak times) but when the food gets here it is hot and fresh not lukewarm needing to be reheated like a lot of places- so it definitely makes it worth the wait. Their app makes ordering effortless and there is generally a coupon for almost everything in the app you can apply. We've never been disappointed. read more

I usually pickup pizza. Once in a while I have it delivered when I am to busy to pickup, and always tip good. Tonight I ordered online. Pizza arrived early, so I opened the door, took the pizza, and was going to go put in down so I don't drop it, as I have done before. As I took the pizza from the driver, he says "thanks for the tip". I didn't even get a chance to turn around and put it down, and take the tip that I had on the stairs, and give it to him, and I get a sarcastic "thanks for the tip"???? This was my first visit to AJ's Pizza in Butler. It was a Wednesday at 2:45pm. After I located the menu, I ordered the large eggplant parm sandwich. I enjoyed my meal while watching and listening to ESPN on the televisions. It was a great super hot lunch and as expected, I needed half of it to be wrapped to go.
