We love Frank's!!! We try to come here everytime we visit family in Htown! We leave very satisfied, full and ready for naps Food was great, bacon was crispy from start to finish. Our waitress was nice and attentive, we sat, ate and left. Can't wait to be back next time :) :)

Franks signature breakfast with fried fish grits and biscuits.

Large large portions at a very reasonable price. A late Tuesday breakfast was still crowded, and it maintained that way as the hour turned into lunch. It has a classic diner atmosphere although the bar counter area isn't very large so there are not much seating there. Staff is very friendly, efficient, and attentive. Ordered the Frank's signature breakfast with fish and was shocked to get two large fillets. I ate everything but had to additionally season the food, especially the grits. Luckily, there was a large bottle of hot sauce at the table.

Delicious breakfast, decent wait time. I did witness the cook texting on his phone with the same gloves he was cooking and picking up pancakes with but other than that everything was fine. It's a diner type of place and a Houston staple.

Good fast service, casual ambiance and good home style food. Good coffee. Clean establishment. Hadn't been here in a while but it's still the same. Reasonable prices. Hole in the wall that's been here forever. I do recommend trying them out.

It's old...who cares. Was clean and the waitstaff was attentive. Food was exactly what it's supposed to be. Not the best sweet tea tho. It was perfect, exactly what we expected and wanted. Thanks Frank! We will be back.

I really liked this place, from the service, to the open grill where you can watch the food getting prepared, and the chicken wings were crispy and big. Hash browns were the bomb. I think the waffle was good but the texture was a little mushy, not sure if it was undercooked or just the way the batter is. Anyway, definitely would return if in Houston again.

A friend visiting from out of town is really into diners. During his stay, I chose the vegan option of hash browns and black coffee most days. Meanwhile, my friend explored the entire menu and had no complaints about anything. Even when the diner was busy, the service was fast and friendly; my coffee cup was never empty. It was the kind of diner experience you would expect, reminiscent of visits with your grandparents--done right.

France would be sad this is supposed to be French toast

Server was fantastic the food was terrible I ordered crispy hash browns and I got barely cooked hash browns. Floor manager came by and said oh we're too busy to make them crispy. The bacon tasted good but it looked like it was cooked 3 days ahead they don't have real butter it's just oil on the grits everything was bad. The French toast was completely floppy and soggy

Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Ambiance- Clean. You're not going for the esthetic...you're going for the food down home breakfast. This place is always consistent. The only thing they need to work on is their sweet tea. They're fried and grill pork chops, chicken wings, cheese eggs, hasbrowns and French toast are EVERYTHING. If your grandma can cook well...just imagine if your grandma's cooking and Waffle House had a baby, it would be called Frank's Grill

I've actually done UberEats from this place many times for my wife that works down the street, and she always has great things to say about their food. So, down the road the other day and decided to come try their lunch menu. As soon as I saw chicken & waffles, you know I had to give them a try. The waffle was pretty amazing which is what my wife usually says about it, and the chicken wings looked great and had a good taste, but they were VERY chewy and i had to literally pull on the "meat" to eat them. I figured it was just a rush day for them so I didn't say anything and just ate my lunch, but literally an hour later, my stomach was in knots! I'll give them a pass because my wife loves their breakfast, but they should really make sure stuff is actually cooked before getting it out of the kitchen.

As for the food....my Corn Beef Hash was described as "chunky corn beef bits combined w/crisp potatoes". It was not. As you can see it appears to be out of a can; not chunky beef and not crisp potatoes. As you can see by my pix it looks like the slab of corn beef hash mixture was thrown on the griddle and forgotten & burnt flipped over for a second then served. It was not mixed up & heated through. I was already on a time schedule & hungry so had to eat and move on.The buttermilk biscuit was suppose to be home made, but I have my doubts. It was not HOT and not very buttermilked. Finally, the cup of fruit was room temperature, not cool/cold and seemed retail. The hosted talked to the owner by phone & there was a lengthy discussion, so much so I offered to pay. You would think it would be an easy decision as to what to do. The hostess relayed that the owner/Mgr would make an effort to improve. In my mind it would be serving the item as describes or changing the item description. Not sure about future visits.

What I eventually found both surprised and delighted me, and Nate's gets a thumbs up overall. Pictures are deceiving as I thought the place would be larger but it's a tight fit for bigger groups. There are only a handful of tables but plenty of character. It's also a bit grimey, unsightly and even a tinge dodgey, which may be a deal breaker for others but is an immediate appeal to me. Two things immediately standout when it comes to the food: the portions and the prices are outstanding. The offerings are as no frills as the rest of the establishment. The other surprise was how much influence there was from Mexican cuisine. Hash browns were the goal, but chorizo and chilaquiles were the bonus. Another surprise? The hash browns weren't as crispy as I would have wanted. It's entirely plausible that I came on an off day, which happens. However everything else was on point as my chorizo skillet was absolutely dynamite, pancakes were fluffy and indulgent, breakfast tacos were outstanding, and my eggs were perfectly softly scrambled. Even the bacon and sausage patties were delicious, which is a tall order considering it's not likely made in house. Lastly, as someone who drinks cold water like it's a hobby (#1), I'm especially grateful for the massive 32 oz cup of water, which is perfect for someone who drinks like a camel. The staff is not the quickest but they are friendly. Spanish may go further with most and they're not the quickest when it comes to greeting folks or cleaning tables. The food is the star and consider paying in cash. ____________ (#1) I'm thirsty.

For my visit, it was crowded but not to where you couldn't hear your table. Dress is casual, good for friends, solo, or pit stop. Service: 5/5 Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Since it was our first visit there, she gave us some background that it was a Pappa's owned restaurant and food is made from scratch. Food: 3/5 They offer mimosas and I was tempted to order, but was driving and it was 9AM so forewent that option. There are food options for every tastebud. Mark ordered the fried cheese sticks, they were one of the items that I found worthwhile to return for. I opted for the Waffle feast. It included a waffle, that I added pecans on top to, two strips of bacon, eggs your way and hash browns. To say that I needed to add salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns because they tasted bland and flavorless was unfortunate. It also was served at room temperature, because it was made from scratch, would think it be warmer to hot. The waffle was savory and had good mix and topped with the pecans made it even better. If you're on this side of town and want a change up from the "other breakfast diners" DOT would be where I stop. Fast, friendly service.
