First time having Kojaks, they catered our work holiday lunch at Sola. It was delicious!! The food arrived hot, the staff helped set up the catering and they provided utensils and plates. I'm glad we decided to support local and order catering from here. The food is delicious, catering also came with gravy as well. I will be back! Thank you so much for your hospitality and taking care of us!

Me watching you

Very good, really good service 10 stars amazing what went well a few things to consider in your review food service ambiance

Avocado BLT with fries
Annalisa P.

Kojak's has been in the area since the 70s. They serve a mix of American and Mediterranean cuisine. I was first introduced to this place after I got hired from my company and got to eat lunch with the other managers and directors. It's nice cause now it's a tradition I do with our new hires after a day of orientation. I've tried a few dishes, but I gravitate toward their avocado BLT on french bread. The bread is nicely toasted and still soft inside. There's plenty of bacon and avocado. Their crinkle fries are good, but it's the seasoning they use that adds a nice touch. You can ask for extra seasoning on the side. Other people have ordered soups, the gyro plate, and something homey like meatloaf. One of my coworkers is vegetarian, so it's nice that they have a falafel sandwich and other options. Many people seem to go here for lunch in between their work day. There's enough tables and chairs and some booth seats. Sometimes they are out of a certain type of soda or the ice machine is broken, but they do keep a bucket of ice or let you pick a canned soda of what's out.

18th street bagel sandwich featuring a Brazos Bagel everything bagel and bacon

Being from the East Coast you get the need for a good bagel sometimes... today was one of those days. My friend and I ordered bagel sandwiches. I'm glad that Brazos bagel has set up shop in Kojak's. Kojak's offers sandwiches with everything from chicken to lox. (Wednesday through Sunday only). Overall the service was okay. Nothing special. The girl was more concerned with her slicing items than originally serving us. I was semi bummed that they only offered the everything or plain as choices for the sandwiches. The overall restaurant is fairly simple. They had live music even on a Sunday morning. Plenty of seating all around.

Veg Bagel Sandwich

Just WOW! The freshly baked bagel by Brazos Bagels was the perfect base for the scrumptious vegetable sandwich. Can't remember the exact name of the plate but the sandwich had a delectable pesto sauce and cream cheese paired with fresh and crisp tomato, spinach, purple onion, and avocado. I will be back just for that! Went nicely with a glass of rosé. The sausage, egg, cheese, potato & biscuit gravy bowl was so delicious as well especially if you're craving a hearty southern style breakfast/brunch. The gyro sandwich was great and the fries on the side were seasoned well and crispy, exactly how you'd want fries to be. Casual down home vibes with a Heights flare and very reasonably priced!

The atmosphere is chill I came in around 4 and it wasn't to busy only 3 customers including me

Owner named jack, checked on me and my experience. Food was amazing! Traditional home style! Very Homie and welcoming interior that gave it a diner vibe. Price point for what you are ordering is unbeatable!

Greek Power Bowl

This is a regular on our lunch rotation at work. Food is always fresh and delicious. We have never had a bad meal here in the 15+ years we have eaten here. Mark is always so kind and his staff always go above and beyond.

This is where you go to order your food.  They also do breakfast:  an omelette with feta, tomatoes, and/or spinach could be good.

What to do to fight cabin fever? Write a review or two on Yelp. When I visit a city I've never visited or have only visited a few times, such as H-town, I make sure to find the storied eateries, either chains or stand-alones, Italian food, Greek food, and possibly a type of cuisine the area is famous for, providing it's not spicy. As for filling the hatch with Greek food at a reasonable price, Kojak's fits the bill. It's called Kojak's Fine Foods because they appear to have items sitting on shelves the way they'd be displayed at an ethnic grocery store ... and they also cater. Neither of those two options were relevant to my needs as someone passing through town. However, their sit down cafe' was definitely relevant to me. I got myself a platter and sampled their gyro meat, hummus, and some stuffed grape leaves. It was all very good but I remember that the stuffed grape leaves really stood out. I could have eaten many more of them. At the end, I ate some baklava that was placed in a plastic clam shell. It was also good. They also have soft drinks and bottled drinks you can buy. For a quick meal during the lunch hour, you can go up to the counter and put your food on a tray. The prices were fair and, as others have said, the service was more perfunctory than friendly. I didn't care because it was obviously a busy time and they had to be efficient. I also liked the simple and open set-up of Kojak's eating area. You just help yourself to a four top, plant your food and your behind down, enjoy your meal, and take a respite from the L.A.-like hustle and bustle of H-town inside their air conditioned locale. Something about Kojak's struck me as funny. You are still inside the Inner Loop, although barely, but the area doesn't feel that much different than if it was on or near the Outer Loop. It's near a big freeway interchange on Houston's NW side. Once inside, there were a lot of suburban office park employees lunching and it was a little bit of a time warp, with some - not many - of the guys looking like they might have had a beeper and some of the gals sporting feathered hair! Regardless, the patrons seemed like a friendly, relaxed bunch. And, I couldn't finish a review without mentioning that Kojak's has free parking in front of their store in this strip mall where you might be jockeying for a space among people's trucks, muscle cars, and big SUVs down in the Republic of Texas.

Food: - Chicken liver pate: 10/10 SOOOO good! The bread that comes with it is amazing too. There is some sweet jam that is paired with it also. It doesn't overpower the main pate flavor, but I could probably do without the sweetness. - Pressed leeks: 10/10 I haven't had leeks too often in my life but this was really good! The sauce that they put it on pairs so well with it and really makes the dish. Must try even if you think you don't like leeks. - Venison tartare: my husband loves tartare and mustard so he loved this dish. I despise mustard and am lukewarm on tartare. The mustard taste was so strong. I hated this dish but I'm also not a good critic for it, so no rating from me. - Pappardelle: 7/10 Simple and classic. Not worth getting on your first visit but a nice dish on its own. - Butternut squash: 8/10 I can't remember much about this dish except that I enjoyed it :) - Pork collar Milanese: 9/10 Like a much better version of a schnitzel - Dumplings: 9/10 Just read the description on the menu and you know it's gonna be good. Ricotta? Brown butter? Yup amazing! Creamy, delicate, but not just a big mush that makes me want to gag. - Lamb ribs: 9/10 Nicely smoked, all around good balanced flavor - Wagyu bavette: 10/10 So good! Tender and juicy. But at this point in the meal, I'm usually pretty stuffed and the portion size is pretty decent. I would enjoy it even more if we didn't always order so many other small plates haha - Mushrooms: 9/10 Mushroom haters, please try this! You may change your mind! It changed my friend's mind that also doesn't like mushrooms. Service: - Always a good time. Checks in but not overbearing. Ambiance is slightly upscale but still relaxed. Doesn't feel uppity. - One time, we got free dessert. We were the last party in there so they probably just wanted to get rid of it. The cookie was so good! I've also been for brunch but have since forgotten what we've ordered. I just remember enjoying it a lot more than expected. Can't wait to go back again!

We…read morehappened to get lucky and reserved the cute patio on one of the few perfect weather days in Houston. Why only three stars? Service was odd to say the least. To start, we were lightly scolded for ordering three food items from the menu--we ordered mocktails to start--and between the two of us we don't eat large portions. If you don't think we're ordering enough food, it'd be nice to be informed that the portions are small if you're concerned about us being unsatisfied. As our plates came out, they were served with a perfunctory description of what we ordered and nothing else was said before they rushed off to be somewhere else. We don't expect to be doted on, but the overall vibe was standoffish on a quiet morning. Given they prefer full orders up front for pacing purposes, and our server was enforcing cups on coasters, we thought it was odd that our plates weren't refreshed between courses. I don't mind reusing the jam and butter covered plate to eat my polenta, but it conflicted with what the restaurant is trying to project. Overall, food was good, service was weird. Likely won't be back because Agnes & Sherman is right down the street and is so much better.

Millie's is a popular neighborhood seafood restaurant in Houston's Oak Forest area, known for Southern and coastal-inspired dishes, craft cocktails, and being genuinely family-friendly. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, including patios and a dedicated play area for kids, which already sets them apart. They have private parking spots out front and a large outdoor patio facing the street. We walked in without a reservation and were seated right away. They brought out a high-chair for our son immediately. Inside, the restaurant was busy, but it was a colder morning so the front patio wasn't being used much. They also have a separate backyard patio with a turfed, enclosed area where kids can safely play, which is a huge plus for families. We ordered from the brunch menu. [BRUNCH] +Lobster Roll for $38 - Maine lobster poached in butter, served in a brioche-style lobster bun with fries. My wife ordered this with fries, and I ordered the same dish with a Caesar salad. This lobster roll was excellent. They served the lobster folded into thick Texas toast and brought extra butter on the side. Easily one of the best lobster rolls I've had. It's definitely pricey, but absolutely worth it as an occasional splurge. The fries and salad were good, but the lobster roll completely stole the show. - 5/5 [KID'S MENU] +Basket of Fried Shrimp for $7 - Served with fries or fruit. My son didn't eat much of the shrimp, but I thought it was solid. He ate all the fruit. He had already eaten at home, so hunger may have been a factor. For the price, this was perfectly fine. - 4/5 Overall, Millie's Kitchen & Cocktails really impressed me. The lobster roll alone is worth returning for, and now that I've seen how seafood-forward the menu is, I'm excited to try more dishes on future visits. Add in the family-friendly setup, outdoor play space, and smooth service, and this is a place I'll gladly come back to for brunch (and more)!

The mashed potatoes were good and most of the vegetables. We got the creme brûlée but wasn't a big fan , the custard was a bit thick and not smooth. I would opt for something else next time. Order-to-Appetizer: 15 Minutes Order-to-Entrees: 30 MInutes For three people, we ordered: Dairymaid's Cheese Board (4/5): Comes with four cheeses, five small pieces of sourdough, honey-spritzed grapes, green Granny Smith apples, and fava beans. I wish they gave us more bread with the cheeses and preserves. The four cheeses provided were slices of a five-year aged Cheddar, Oveja Anejo, Tomarashi, and Gruyere. I enjoyed the Tomarashi the most. It is a bit pricey for what you get, but very sharable and a great starter. Shady Acres Pizza with prosciutto (3.5/5): I really don't like getting thin crust pizza that isn't crispy, and unfortunately this was a soggy thin crust pizza. The toppings themselves were very flavorful, and the end parts were crispy enough. 5 Cheese Calzone with chicken (3.5/5): Whew, five cheeses makes for a salty calzone. The side marinara sauce provides a good balance. It's very filling. Chicken might have been a good addition because prosciutto might have made it too salty. It was larger than expected which was nice for sharability. Service was kind of iffy. They were pretty rude with not providing us utensils and seeming almost angry that we asked for some for the cheese board. They mixed up our order (we asked for chicken on the pizza and prosciutto on the calzone and they flipped it) and seemed almost apologetically serving us afterwards. Overall, would recommend as a relaxed date spot at a reasonable price. I paid via inKind and applied referral credit with no issues. Would come back with inKind credit, probably not at full price.
