We finally were able to make it to Franks Diner. We have tried a couple times before but it was on weekends and it was packed. We decided to go there tonight, a Monday evening and it was perfect. Only a few people there. In fact we thought they were closed. Except for the open sign was on. We were not disappointed. Couldn't decide on a breakfast or burger. I chose the burger this time and it was really good. So big I could only eat half of it. The bun was so soft and squishy. Meat cooked to perfection and nice grilled flavor. The fries were seasoned steak sized fries and they had the best tasting tarter sauce. My husband had a chocolate shake and it was a masterpiece. ( see photo). We really enjoyed the quick friendly service and food came so fast. Next time I will try breakfast. My husband said it was the best omelet he's had in along time. read more

A true breakfast diner! It's a unique environment, eating breakfast in a train car. We sat at the counter and had a front row show right in front of us! The server (Leslie) and the line cooks (Angel & Josh) worked like a well-oiled machine. We enjoyed a Frank's Breakfast Combo with a side of white pepper gravy and a full order of the Great Nona's Meatloaf Benedict with fresh fruit. Limited menu IMHO but it's all good, with the caveat that not much will meet your calorie or sodium hopes. Still, it's not an everyday thing for me and I don't fear the consequences of occasional. Robust sort of atmosphere... It's a real dining car so be prepared for narrow rail close seating. I like the place. read more

Great food at an affordable price and excellent service. It's an old rail car converted to a restaurant and it's so cool inside! The menu is large and varied and all the meals including breakfast are served all day so there's many choices. I had the French Swiss Dip and it was delicious and large with a ton of French fries. I have to come back for dessert because it looked so good but I was stuffed! Loved it! I forgot to take a picture of the food before I dove in! read more

We were a group of 5 and went mid morning. It took close to an hour for us to be seated as there is literally only 1 table for 5 people in the place. I saw a larger group sat in 2 adjoining booths. Once we got in the service was excellent. The wait staff were very nice and friendly and made recommendations for us to check out in the local area. The person who I am guessing is the manager gave us a free cobbler because of how long we waited which I thought was really nice. The food was good. My meaty omelet was flavorful and cooked well. They offered extra cheese on basically anything but didn't tell us it was an extra charge. Not the first time we fell for this but just passing on the info. My family liked their food too. Overall it was pretty good. read more

The service from Clay and Nathan was TOP NOTCH! We had a hard time deciding what to eat and Nathan suggested the French Swiss Dip. It was so delicious! From the tender meat to the au jus.... Perfection. We are used to terrible service since the Covid era and we were pleasantly surprised by these guys. Friendly and accommodating even when they didn't have to be. Even created "fry sauce" for us and it was SOOOO good. The ambiance of the train car is super fun and they did a great job of decorating and making it feel vintage without it feeling old and junky. Old school since 1906. What better way to enjoy a hot breakfast than in an old school train car. We ordered fried green tomatoes with hash browns and a biscuit. The food was so good and flavored just right. Even midweek this place stays busy and the service is quick. read more

Came on a Friday morning and was sat immediately. This is a Spokane staple for a reason, they offer somewhat unique breakfast items. Heavily Cajun and southern inspired which we don't have much of around here. It's in an old train car which is so cute. Their southern benedict was delicious, the deviled eggs are dreamy. I only had time for ONE BREAKFAST on my quick trip to Spokane, WA and carefully chose this place. Love it when I choose correctly!!!! Wow, what an amazing spot and place to eat. Located in an old railroad car (next to an actual functioning railroad), this place is filled with charm. Walked in to a warm greeting to "go ahead and sit anywhere." Friendly attentive service that made me feel more like family than a customer. Big menu and I was told even though it was morning I could order breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Settled in on the cinnamon roll waffle. This MIGHT be the best waffle I have ever eaten in my life! Light and fluffy inside with a CRISP outside. It was topped with a delicious cream cheese frosting and pecans, raisins, and cinnamon. Each bite was a symphony in my mouth! Side of Bacon was also outstanding. This is really the ONLY place to go for breakfast in Spokane! Can't wait to come back. read more

We had an amazing experience! Our server Gale was an absolute sweetheart! She was personable, entertaining the kids, giving history about the trains, brought us anything under the sun we needed before we asked, and was SO attentive. OMG! What a wonderful place. The interior is divine and elegant for a diner. We came here on a Sunday morning and was seated immediately in a 2 person booth. We perused the menu and was interested in 3 different choices. Melissa came by to ask what we wanted to drink and ordered a coffee and hot water for my tea. I also asked for a sample of their cream gravy. She immediately brought all items. The gravy was in a small bowl and tasted just like the gravy I make at home. It checked all my boxes; creamy, smooth, and a bit peppery. Yum Yum. We decided to split the Conductor. It was orgasmic. The French toast was cooked perfect. Fluffy, chewy, an browned exactly the way you want them. We had scrambled eggs, bacon, which was perfectly crisp and lean. To top it off we went with fruit. The grapes were sweet and firm, honey dew, pineapple, and cantaloupe were ripe and sweet. Melissa was sweet and came by periodically to check on us and refill coffee. Received a warm welcome from the hostess right away. They offer a waitlist you can track, which is a nice touch--our wait was about 20 minutes. Our server was pleasant and gave some great recommendations. We went with Nana's pancakes and the meat omelet. A note for first-timers: you can choose a one-egg or three-egg omelet-- I chose one and it was huge! If I'm in the area again, I'd definitely return. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and welcoming. As a person of color, I did notice some fellow diners weren't as warm, but that's no reflection on the staff, who were excellent. read more

Went at 8:30 on a Saturday morning busy as expected after a 45 minute wait we are able to enjoy the ambience and food inside. Free coffee station outside while waiting was a nice perk. Fast service. Recommendation: -Hot apple cider may be seasonal though -Classic Benedict very good and a nice thick slice of ham. read more

Got damn. Tried this place for a 2nd time. Turkey dinners arrived Luke warm at best. Mashed potatoes cold! Sent it all back, new plates... one was hot one still had cold potatoes. Service was mediocre at best. Damn don't think we will come back for quite awhile. So odd as last weekend we tried em, same food and it was great! This time was a major disappointment. Sorry Frank you lost us for rest of this year. And we drove from Idaho even! read more

The only thing I don't love about Frank's is the wait. But good things come to those that wait, right? Just be prepared that if you come by on a weekend, you might end up waiting about an hour. The good news is that Frank's has its own parking lot and street parking, so you should be able to find a spot and there is free coffee waiting for you outside if you find yourself waiting for a while. Once inside the train car, the options are plentiful. There are some small booths at the back of the train car and bar seating available. The menu offers something for everyone so you can enjoy a tasty meal while also feeling transported to another time through the ambiance. During my recent visit there was a mimosa special that was perfect for the season. For breakfast I ordered the blueberry muffin French toast and a side of bacon. I'm not sure why I found it so surprising because it was like a hybrid between a blueberry muffin and French toast. But it worked well. For those searching out burgers and sandwiches for bunch, there are plenty of lunch/dinner options at Frank's too. read more

Nostalgia doesn't always mean good... This place is an exception. A quick stop right when they opened on a Tuesday morning. Immediately greeted by...a young gentleman enjoying his breakfast sitting at the counter stating sit where you want - huh?? I immediately thought bad things. However, his immediate greeting was followed up by smiles, hellos from literally everyone of the about a dozen staff that was obviously getting ready for the "rush" later that morning. He ended up being a fry cook. Quickly met by our waitress, ordered our food, and it was out in 5 minutes. The franks custom sausage (delicious) soft scrambled eggs (perfectly done), crispy hash browns as requested (with gravy) and some of the best rye toast I've had at a diner in a long time (I'm a breakfast guy). It's a tad expensive (what isn't knowadays) but for being in a city, the quality and quantity of food and the sheer niceness of the entire staff, this place is worth every penny!! If you are just visiting (as we were), or a local you need to run to this place for a memorable meal/experience. read more

Local. Great Breakfast. Great service. This place has some nostalgia to it which makes it such a fun place to visit. This is located just north of the city walking distance, but be aware that it's not in the best of walking conditions but a must try. Now the menu has both breakfast and lunch but we decided to try only breakfast items. We got the cinnamon waffle with a side of crispy bacon, which was absolutely super sweet, super indulging and overwhelming with food. We also tried the original Benedict, which was absolutely 100% the best thing that I have ever eaten, this is a must try for breakfast. Would love to come back for lunch. read more

OMG...where to start!! Loved the wood interior of this diner, very cool!! There were four of us and we all got something different for breakfast (chicken fried steak and eggs, corned beef hash and eggs, the creole omelet, and Frank's breakfast special with bacon), so we all got to try each other's dishes. All the breakfast dishes were AMAZING! If the airline tickets were cheaper we would go back today!! read more

It's not open! I walked here from my hotel, it says it's open the sign flashing out front? And yelp says it's open. But then I asked the people in the back and they looked at me like I had lost my mind. There's no sign that says why it is closed. They looked at me like I was bothering them. Very weird response to a very simple question. Are you open? And if you're not, when do you think you will be? They just said it's closed. read more

The food tasted great especially the biscuits they were literally perfect. They weren't too dry and all of the food came out surprisingly fast. Service was amazing too they weren't intrusive and stayed on top of everything. The vibes of the place were also fantastic felt very cozy but not suffocating. Overall recommend this at the top of the list of places to get breakfast in Spokane. Price was great for how much food we got as well. read more

Surely a Spokane . Can you take say you have been to Spokane, if you haven't been here. With that said, it is full of both locals and tourists. Surprisingly good food. Hash browns were really good. Other breakfast staples were ok. All the staff were super friendly, and made an effort to go above and beyond no matter how busy. Some things to note: - seems like there will always be a wait. - The waiting area outside has a heat lamp and fan. - They provide free coffee while you wait. - I recommend sitting at the bar. read more

This place does not accept reservations. It's an old school diner where you show and hope there is no line. I went midweek and had to wait a few minutes but ended up sitting on the bar stool watching the cooks.

The BLT had scant bacon, tons of lettuce, a few pink flavorless tomato slices and tons of bread. It fell completely apart due to not enough mayo. All I tasted was dry day old bread. I'm neurodivergent, so if you're neurotypical, take this review with a grain of salt. (TLDR Franks is a terrible option if you have any sensory issues and/or if you don't do well in cramped spaces with poor airflow and loud surroundings) I can't handle Frank's Diner. It's a fun idea, but it creates an environment that is absolutely intolerable for me. Everyone is crammed into a tiny dining car to eat. My youngest brother loved trains when he was a little guy, so we would go there when I was a kid from time to time. I thought the train was so cool, and I loved the coloring pages, but I never understood why I felt so "spinny" after being in the dining car for more than around five minutes. Now I know it's because I don't do well in crowded environments that are loud and stuffy. It makes my anxiety absolutely explode and I get a full sensory overload. It's not a fun place to be in my opinion. I went back a few years ago now that I'm an adult, and I hated it. The food was nothing super special, and I was frustrated with the price tag. The biggest issue I had, though, was how tiny the train car is. It gets hot so fast, and it's so loud. Avoid Frank's if you don't do well in cramped, loud spaces and/or if you have any sensory issues. It's not an accommodating place for those of us who are not neurotypical. And, quite Frankly (bu-dump-ts) I don't know for sure if it's a great option for neurotypical folks, either, since you don't have to be neurospicy to dislike being stuck in a small, warm, muggy space with shouting children, inconsiderate adults, and an onslaught of overpowering smells. read more

Stepping into Frank's Diner is like climbing aboard a 1906 railcar that somehow still serves the best breakfast in Spokane. You eat inside an actual vintage railroad car, with a front-row seat to the organized chaos of line cooks and wait staff punching out plate after plate without missing a beat. The sign out front claims they go through three tons of hash browns a month, and after one bite, man, do I believe them. I ordered the Frank's Breakfast Combo, and pro tip: come hungry, because this plate does not mess around. Eggs done right, crispy bacon, and those hash browns living up to every ounce of that three-ton legend. The silver dollar pancakes came out fluffy with blueberries that added the perfect bright, juicy pop. My wife's corned beef hash was rich, savory, and seared to a deep golden crust, the kind of scratch-made hash that ruins the canned stuff for you forever. It was Christmas Eve... dear friend had flown in from out of state & arrived late due to weather issues... went to the Davenport for a nice meal but only could get food in the uncomfortable & loud bar area. We decided to call Frank's & see if they would be open if we drove over. The nice young man that answered said they were open & it wasn't busy. We headed over & got seated in a comfortable booth right away. Lovely Christmas tunes played softly, the server was WONDERFUL and attentive... we ordered comfort food: hash browns, eggs, meatloaf, mashed potatoes & split a cinnamon raisin waffle for dessert. The atmosphere alone is great. This place has funny cooks that talk to you if you sit at the counter. Aside from the decor, which is historical and beautiful, the food is delicious comfort food. I stopped in here because I scheduled a morning meet up prior to a meeting with some contractors. I ordered the Creole Eggs Benedict, they let me sub out the hash browns for French toast at no extra charge. Overall this place is a gem and I plan on coming back many more times in the future. Good Stuff!! My daughter and I came for breakfast on a Friday morning visiting from SF for a volleyball tournament. The train car was extremely busy as others from the tournament had the same idea. We were told the wait would be 30-40 minutes, we sat in less than 20. Chloe the hostess, was very upbeat and helpful. The servers were friendly and the cooks very efficient. We went to Franks after checking yelp & triple d on our cell phones. It was getting close to closing time & it didn't even faze them to seat us and take our order. Yay! Service was great...any server that asks if you want the whip cream on your hot chocolate is A-1 in my book, not all kids like it. We gave them 45 then they told us it would be another 20-30 minutes and then we waited almost 2 hours and never got a call so we went in and they told us they told us the wrong information because there was someone on the list with the same name and it would be another 30-45 minutes.
