Could possibly be a little cleaner, but I came right after the breakfast rush so they probably didn't have time to reset after. Love that it was like stepping into Arnold's Drive In or the soda fountain in back to the future. A good, basic breakfast spot--nothing fancy, but it was solid for what it was. The place stays pretty busy, so expect a bit of a wait. My main complaint is the cleanliness. The table, condiments, and napkin holder didn't feel clean, and the booth surfaces were noticeably grimy. I used a travel-size Lysol wipe to clean the table, and the wipe came away pretty dirty. Overall, the food was decent, but the cleanliness definitely needs more attention. read more

Stopped in here today for lunch with my Dad and his caregiver. The interior was cute. Retro 50s style. Our server, though in training, was very attentive. The three of us all ordered something different and we all enjoyed our choices. My Dad got the Shotgun Willie (A heapin' mess of hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, bell peppers, red onion, cheddar and jack all on top of a biscuit and gravy. Topped with a big, fried jalapeño) with a side of sausage gravy. It was so huge. Enough for 3 separate meals. His Caregiver ordered the Cheeseburger Deluxe. The burger patty appeared to be hands pressed, definitely not one of those pre-formed patties. She really liked it. It also came with beer battered fries. I went with the Rockin' Rawlins Wrap (Spinach, grilled chicken breast, bacon, craisins, sliced almonds and mozarella tossed in our secret neighborhood dressing and wrapped in a warm whole wheat tortilla) and my choice of side was tomato soup. These guys are really known as a very good shake spot as they serve it in a glass and additional metal blender cup. The place has a nice retro vibe to it and the food has always been on the better side of the diner food scale. They are generally very generous with portions as well. Service has been good every time we've been in, with drinks being topped off regularly. A fine little diner if you're in the mood for such a thing. read more

So this place is up o. The South Hill next to Trader Joe's. It is set up like a 50's diner. Nice 50's music playing. The food was really good, had the ham and cheese omelet with wheat toast. Came on a weekday for brunch with a friend. Their menu has a great variety of brunch and lunch options, perfect to find something for everyone. Prices are slightly higher than I thought they would be with brunch dishes being $15, but that's the new average now. Overall this place was okay. I wouldn't mind coming back if someone wanted to or for convenience (next to Trader Joes haha), but I don't think I would crave this or go out of my way for this place if that makes sense. PARENTS: They have boosters, high chairs, and car seat swings available. PARKING: Free in the lot its located. MACK DADDY SCRAMBLE: This came with 3 eggs scrambled with bacon, ham, link, bell peppers, onion and mozzarella cheese. This also came with a side of hash browns and your choice of toast (I got sourdough). Overall this came as I expected and I would get this again. The toast was a little on the overly buttery side for my personal preference, so I would just ask for less next time. COFFEE: They don't offer lattes, but just simple fresh brewed coffee. Have dined at Hogan's many times over the years and haven't had a disappointing experience. Weekend mornings can be busy so if going on a Saturday or Sunday morning expect that there might be a wait, but any other time I've strolled in and gotten a table right away. Hogans is a longstanding spot that we often forget about. Not that it's forgettable, just not as rememberable as some other places. Food is good enough and decently priced but it's nothing spectacular. Good place for groups large or small and there's not usually a wait to be seated. Morgan our server was a standout. She made sure we have everything we needed and kept our coffee cups full. One of the things I notice about a place is the corners (meaning I notice small stuff). In this case, it's things like torn upholstery on a booth or walls dinged & torn up or dusty light fixtures. This place has them all. It costs very little to keep up on these things but it shows a lack of attention to detail. This gets back to what I mentioned at the top, the food being good but not great. The pancakes they serve should not contain the overcooked chunks of previously made pancakes. That's attention to detail! read more

This is my diner. We go as often as we can on a Saturday morning and it is always just the thing. I love the vandal scramble and the hash browns ordered a bit extra crispy, plus an extra little side of gravy for the table, just to nab bits of with a biscuit. It's heaven! They can fill up quickly on a weekend but this crew is so hard working--they will get you in. Your coffee cup will keep gettin a fill and you will people watch, smile at little kiddos toddling by and be glad that home style places like this still exist in the world. Thanks Hogans! I was at the Hallmark two buildings down from this restaurant Hogans I've been wanting to go and I never have, I was hungry so I decided to go and stop in and eat so I ordered a patty melt with a small cup of soup (both taste real good )and a water and after I received the food about 10 minutes later, the waitress comes up to me and she says just wanted to let you know that the cook paid for your meal today so you're all set! I said "what" really?? Wow how nice. I have always been the one that has paid it forward for other people standing in the front of me with there groceries to a drive-through behind me or in front of me that I've said I'd like to pay for their meal so when this happened to me today I was actually I was just flabbergasted so anyway, of course I thanked him. He's really cool his name is Paul and he said it's just gonna be a great day and I said you know you made my day greater. He came over and started talking to me back-and-forth meanwhile, going back and forth to his station as he was the only cook in the house. What a cute friendly diner to have Sunday breakfast at. It's like stepping into the past. Has such a vintage diner feel. Down to the counter and booth seating. Just stuck with the obvious today and ordered biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs. The biscuits were ginormous smothered in lots of gravy. Gravy had good flavor. Not too heavy. Eggs cooked perfect. Couldn't barely eat into the second biscuit, was so full. Great service by happy waitress and food was quick and hot. Great breakfast choice and I'm sure burgers are good too. I got one of the combo breakfasts. I asked for my bacon to be crispy and my eggs to be over medium. Color me super impressed when my bacon had that delicious crunch and my eggs were done right! Not only that, but the pancakes were so good - fluffy, perfect thickness and I could eat a lot without it feeling like it was weighing down. s ver rude from the get home. I asked for coloring books for the gentleman and I to keep us busy because he is disabled and she acted annoyed as if it was inconvenient for her. Everything she brought us was with haste and no customer care and when I went to ask her to hand me the check at the end of the meal. She legitimately glared at me. Super rude service. When I left I forgot my sunglasses at the table when I reined when I got home I called they said they were not there and I said they would have to have been. That's the only place I could have left them. (Went straight to the restaurant and home and they where not in the car. I was waring them into the restaurant.) She put me on hold for 8 minutes when I finally hung up. They put the phone on the busy signal so I could not call back. When I went in the manager was not helpful at all. If they where left on the table and the waitress cleared the table before the next customer, she would have seen them. They were $100 pair of designer sunglasses.
