Frank was timely, thorough, and professional in replacing the locks on two apartment doors in our co-op. These are old doors with a mix of locks (some new, some old and painted-over), and Frank took the time to not only replace the cylinders, but also to re-align and perform some maintenance on the older locks to get them working like new, all at no extra cost. Two of the locks that had previously been wonky or sticky are now perfectly smooth and secure. Great Locksmith !!! Was driving and saw this mobile lock shop truck that reminds me of the Pixar movie- cars. Took a picture, for in case I needed a locksmith and because my wife said it was cute. Twice in the past year, needed Franks service for an apartment building in Brooklyn. Frank turns out to be a master locksmith and have work many years securing banks around NYC. Also a very nice guy. First time he helped me, was due to a break in. Second time, Stolen Keys. Frank advised me on my lock situation, did not try to up sell me on the newest or most expensive. Did not just install some mass produce stuff from Home depot. Really honest and patient while explaining his work to me and answering all my questions. He custom made my lock cylinders from scratch, it was awesome watching him put those different color pins in the cylinders in order to make a new lock. He also made these amazing heavy duty keys for me that was twice the size and weight of regular keys, Feels very strong and secure and not expensive like multi-lock keys. Went to several hardware stores, and ask if they sell locks that comes with these type of heavy duty keys. All said NO and One guy gave me a weird look while saying they are for higher quality locks, as if it was a secret that I should not know about. 5 Star Door Repair... for a reason... I've done a lot of work on my home over the years, and I've seen it all. Frank was always prompt to respond, courteous, reasonable with his quote (but did not sugar coat things), flexible with payment options, provided speedy service, and stuck to the original quote. He showed up to provide an accurate quote (which completely was needed) and delivered on what he said he would. His staff repaired one interior door that needed to be sealed (ancient door that didn't close properly) and fully replaced a custom exterior metal door, and resealed it and made sure it closed securely (the old door was probably 40+ years old and the frame had shifted over time). All the things that make home owners wary of with a service like this or bad experiences folks have had with a home service or contractor did not exist with Frank and his crew. read more
